We visited for our daughter's birthday lunch on New Year's eve. Only a short walk from the Ffestiniog steam railway station. We ate in the vault, for fun, and had it all to ourselves. The food was lovely and even though there were not many staff working due to the date, the food and drinks were served quickly. Highly recommended.

I was shocked at how big the portions were - in a good way! Felt very cosy and had great service. Food was tasty too

We went in for our evening meal. We being 2 adults, a child and dog. This place is very smart, looking quite new. It is good that they have retained the safe from the bank that it was before. There are a few tables set up in there. Service was good, the food good and price quite reasonable. We would happily have returned, but did not get chance.

We visited on the off chance of it being dog friendly as we saw the Quarryman while on a walk. The place is lovely decor beautiful thought it was lovely how they have kept the original bank features. The staff were friendly and very helpful. The food was fantastic couldn’t rate it better and we will definitely be returning if ever in the area again.

Meal was delicious. Great place. The environment is very relaxing. Great bar and plenty of drinks to choose from.

The fooooood was amazing and the rib eye steak that I got was cooked perfectly and the peppercorn sauce was lush. The man on the bar was very friendly and polite. The toilets were very clean and smelled amazing ! I will definitely be back soon! I would love to work in somewhere like this and everyone seemed nice

I had a lovely evening meal here and the staff were really accommodating. We arrived at 9pm just as they were about to close the kitchen but Liam very kindly took our order and the chef made us a lovely T-bone steak and fish and chips! The restaurant was well decorated and festive ... very in keeping for the time of year! Big thanks to Liam for his fantastic customer service!

We visited on spec looking for a late light lunch. The staff were friendly and attentive. We chose different sandwiches which were well filled and came with a lovely side salad and a small cup of tasty home-made soup which was very welcome on a cold day. The restaurant was tastefully furnished and decorated. There was an abundance of local slate used in the decor and fittings which was in keeping with the town's history and reflected the other business of the owner. It's well worth a visit if only to appreciate the skill of the craftsmen that made the fittings. We'll certainly return.

The place looked spotless, the service was good, but a little slow, (because they were busy). The meal was enormous, and very tasty. After I spilt sauce all over the lovely table cloth, I was expecting an unpleasant end to the meal, but far from it;, they just laughed and said not to worry! I would definitely go here again.

So Much more than just bar food and pizza! Perfect Service, good wines and a little slate museum and shop.

During a week long stay in Blaenau Ffestiniog, the weather was absolutely appalling. It literally didn't stop raining the whole time..day and night. A shining light in this dreary place however was Quarryman Bar & Grill. Bright and airy restaurant with an appealing menu. The Baby Back ribs were to die for and ensured a return trip the following night where we had an extremely delicious pepperoni pizza. Prices were very agreeable. Staff were friendly and attentive and went so far as to find out where we could watch the Rugby Finals. Do not hesitate to book a table here when in town. You'll not be disappointed.

Advertised to be open from 17:30 turned up at 17:45 was closed went to another establishment and passed an hour later and still wasn’t open

I had the salmon which was absolutely incredible! It was so tasty! My husband had the mixed grill which he really enjoyed. The pricing isn't bad and the waitress we had was very friendly and attentive. I would definitely come back!

The Quarryman was recommended to us by Janet at Quarry View campsite. We went on a very wet day in august not expecting there to be much in either menu or setting. Were we wrong! The Quarryman used to be a bank and the owners have managed to get the decor just right.......modern, plenty of slate products but with nods to its history. There is even seating in what used to be the banks vault. The menu was both varied and well priced. The portions are generous, well cooked and presented very nicely. Even though it was very busy, the staff were really friendly and had time to talk to everyone whether local or tourist.

Came in for food for our last meal staying in Ffestiniog. When we looked at the menu and saw how cheap all the food was, I'll be honest, I wasn't expecting anything special. For example a 20oz T-bone steak was £21!! That is CHEAP!!! Where I am from you wouldn't get much change from £60 for a steak that big. Well I was soon mistaken. The food was amazing! My partner had a t-bone and I ordered a ribeye. They were both cooked to perfection and they were not stingey on the portion sizes. In fact I couldn't finish my meal as there was so much. As much to our delight, the bill came and was ALOT less then I was expecting.

Came here after seeing they did t bone steak and enjoyed it so much we cancelled the booking we had elsewhere for our last holiday meal and returned .

Lovely food and good service will definitely call again . Very busy had to book table 6pm and the place was full when we left at 8pm

Went here for an anniversary meal with my wife tonight. We both had the rib eye steak which was cooked just as we asked. The steaks were really big and juicy. The whole main meal from start to finish was first class. We never do starters so we were really looking forward to our pudding. I had the vanilla cheesecake with ice cream and my wife had the waffle with ice cream. They were both delicious and went down a treat. The service was excellent and this restaurant is a fantastic place to eat in Blaenau Ffestiniog. I could not fault anything. Good sized portions and even better value for money. Diolch

Great place they were very busy but managed to seat the 6 of us although we had not booked, Menu has a great selection, I went for the T-Bone and it was perfect. service was friendly and perfect. I would recommend a visit if you are this way.

Very pleasant restaurant in a converted bank. Great service and an opportunity to buy slate souvenirs.

This is a great place to have a meal dog friendly and great for families. We had a meal here and it was very good the gammon was excellent the only mistake was we ordered to much food due to how good the portions are. Go for the baby back ribs for starters they are amazing. The also have a great beer garden with a lovely slate products shop and its cheaper than buying stuff at the slate mine.

All my reviews will n we'd to be about dogs as I am the Crazy dog lady. We had been travelling so day and were in need of food. Chwarelwr did not disappoint. Dogs were allowed in and could go any where. The food was lovely and the price did not seem like a rip off. There were locals in there which says volumes to me. The history of the place is fascinating and evidence of its former life as a bank still evident in the huge safe door. An added extra is the slate shop attached to.It that was still open late at night . I thoroughly recommend this place

Absolutely fabulous. Has been refurbished and designed to incorporate Wales and Welsh slate. Lovely staff, uniformed, hair up (we always like that) spoke welsh and English and extremely polite. Great menu with about right prices. Food coming out looked good. We had the soup which was in a huge bowl with hot bread Everywhere was clean and tidy and at the rear of the building you can buy slate items. Get the train to Blaenau Ffestiniog or call in on the way to Portmeirion. We will be back.

No doubt about it the best place we ate on our holiday. Brilliant friendly staff that seemed happy in there work place and don’t get me started in the food! So delicious. Puddings were amazing too and a decent amount of options for gluten free.

Lovely place to eat.We had a light lunch..pizza and it was lovely. Staff were very friendly. I would certainly recomend it and I would certainly eat there again. There is also the craft shop with beautiful locally made slate items to buy.

Visited here on the first night of our stay. We were told there would be a 50 minute wait for food which was fine (it was actually only 30 minutes in the end). The staff were very busy but still polite and friendly. The menu is good and caters for everyone. We ordered hunters chicken and pizza. Although it took a little while for someone to take our orders, the food didnt take too long to come out. I would recommend this restaurant if your in the area.

We had spare rib, lasagna and chicken and they were ordinary and ok. The restaurant was spacious and service was good.

We really enjoyed our visit to this restaurant and can recommend the ribs, slate burger and grilled chicken. Staff are friendly and there is a warm cosy atmosphere. Good choice of local beers on offer and a great desert menu. The restaurant also has a shop attached selling a range of slate goods which is well worth a look.

We have just been to the Quarry as we wanted food. When we got there we went to sit outside and noticed nearly every table had plates and glasses on them so we assumed must be busy... We were wrong. There were wasps everywhere and after 30 minutes and still all the tables had the same dirty plates on them we decided to leave. A family came in just before we left and they had to sit on a table covered in dirty plates, it wasn't very nice. We walked back past about 20 minutes later and could see that not one single table had still been cleared. Rather than stood inside having a good chat maybe the staff should have a bit of a clear up, you might actually get more people through the door that will stay and actually earn your wages.

An evening meal at Chwearlwr. Food was of excellent quality, so much so that I was halfway through my grilled salmon before I realised that I not taken a photo for TripAdvisor.

I do not recommend this restaurant. Yesterday I ordered there fish and chips from kids menu so I expected small portion. I have got big one and asked the waitress if it is from kids menu. She said yes.

This place was recommended to me by my B & B, who recommended I book as it was a Friday evening. I liked it so much I returned the following night. I was lucky to get a table without booking on Saturday, but you'd be safer reserving beforehand. It doesn't have a wide range of veggie options but the veggie burger and pizza I had were very good and the portions are very generous. The sticky toffee pudding was also very good. I was served promptly even though they were quite busy and I found the staff friendly and attentive. As a Welsh speaker I was especially happy that so many of the staff spoke Welsh and could provide thoroughly bilingual customer service.

We visited the Chwarelwr a few months ago and the food was great quality and very tasty. There were 4 of us and we all had something different from the menu. Not too long a waiting time but we enjoyed a glass of wine and beer whilst waiting. Quite a few locals in and a great atmosphere. Well worth a visit.

A great place for all the family to enjoy a good value tasty meal, the portions are extremely satisfying....The surroundings of the restaurant bring out the towns theme and shows off some wonderful slate work, which can also be purchased too.

After 40 minutes of waiting for our food to arrive we asked how much longer as we had a train to catch , to be told 5 minutes after the 5 minutes we walked out with our hungry small children. We were not advised that we would have to wait and only offered a brief apology on our exit. Terrible service that blighted our trip we ended up eating sandwiches from the Co-op on the train.

Visited the restaurant on 24th July after climbing Snowdon so were all very hungry!! Fantastic food, great prices and lovely environment.

Came here on a sunday for a light lunch after doing the nearby zip lines over the quarrey. Beautiful clean pub with friendly staff . We had burgers, soup, jacket potatoes, pizza, chicken goujons, and a club sandwich amongst our party of 7. All the food was hot and plentiful with chips, sidesalad and coleslaw with the burgers. Drinks were fosters lager, cola etc. Would highly recommend this establishes. They also have disabled toilets and a slate gift shop. Our meals were approx £9.99 a person. Coke £2 and lager £3.40. We were served by a lovely blond lady on her first day on the job, I think her name was karen. She looked after us very well.

At the beginning everything was great,food was tasty,drinks were good. It all went downhill when I felt my stomach turning,luckily my hotel was close by. So I spent the rest of the night on the toilet with violent diarrhea. Just disappointing start of what was supposed to be lovely holiday.

We were walking the Snowdonia Slate Trail and had a stop over in Blaenau Ffestiniog. Out hotel was disappointing and we were looking for somewhere to eat. We walked along the main street (nothing) turned around and walked back past the station and spotted this place. We only went in for a drink to suss it out. However the staff were so very friendly we decided to eat too. A good decision. Great food, interesting beer and wine and to repeat lovely staff who made it a top night. Thank you.

This is a hidden gem. Me and my partner revisited for three nights in a row. The food is lovely, the drinks are nice and the staff are very friendly and attentive. We sat outside a couple of times with out Dog and the staff were happy to give her a water bowl and give her a fuss. If we holiday again around the area we will revisit. What a hidden little gem in an old bank building. The place has been done up brilliantly whilst still retaining a lot of the original features. The owners have put a lot of local slate furnishings/accesories int here too which gives it a great feel of the local area. The food portions are massive and delicious. The service was spot on and very helpful. Love the place.

We found the restaurant by chance and fell lucky. A super environment with excellent staff. The food was good and the service excellent. Highly recommended.

Had a meal hear with my partner and son, lovely restaurant but lacking good service. After hearing negative reviews when they first opened we decided to give it a while before trying out ourselves. We love to eat out and hoped here would be a great place to regularly come, but left disappointed! When we arrived the guy greeting us was very polite and showed us to a table. I already phoned in advance regarding gluten free meals which they were very helpful. We had to wait a while to order and recieve our drinks then waited 40 minutes for our meals. In that time of waiting not once did anyone come out to see if we wanted anymore drinks. We recieved our cutlery after our meals , I also had to ask for a steak knife, (maybe bring one out underneath the steak) no one came out to check if everything was ok with our meal or if we wanted more drinks. Son did not recieve his juice with his meal either. My steak was cook perfect and was delicious, peppercorn sauce cold and very watery with no flavour, chips seemed like they had been left cold then reheated a few times. Plate was swimming with juice from the steak so had to soak it up with a napkin. My partner had ribs which seemed like they had been nuked in the microwave, my son enjoyed the kids pizza. No one came out to clear our plates or see if we wanted drinks or dessert. We decided to get up and go to the bar to pay, never got asked if everything was ok.

We visited this establishment whilst on holiday in Wales. It was a lunch break in between the return journey on the blaenau ffestiniog railway. We informed the staff that we had limited time and we ordered a simple BLT. The entire hour we were waiting for our food it was clear there was no priority given to our order and as time was pressing I had to approach the staff and ask them to wrap it so we could take it away! When we eventually came to eat it it was a sandwich which was clearly thrown together! I myself always thought a BLT was toasted! This was not. Very disappointed but edible! Would not go there again as it was also expensive for what we got! £12.50 for 2 basic sandwiches!

We liked this place so much we went back for a second time. The first night we had burger and chips. But it was so much more than it sounds. Beautifully cooked and presented. Excellent, friendly service, a great collection of craft beers and what the wife described as “the best pink gin ever”. A comfortable well presented environment to enjoy a variety of delicious dishes.

Have visited in the last two weeks the food was great and staff the same have done a very good conversation from old bank . Also bought some of there slate products great craftsmanship well done keep it up

We were staying in the guest house next door and ate here twice. We did book in advance which you certainly needed to do on a Saturday night - they were turning people away. We sat outside one night with the lovely views, the other night we sat in due to weather. Food was just amazing. Service was a little slow on the Saturday night but they were busy and we were in no hurry. Not many places to eat in the town so was very pleased we found this place. Thoroughly recommend.

We are staying in a super air b and b in Park Square and ate here on SaturdayJune 29th. Food arrived and was suberb and extremely hot. Service did slack off as the evening drew on even thought the place wasn't full. I'm guessing it wasn't the servers fault as they worked hard (especially the great young chap who was probably paid the least...), rather they were too short staffed for the covers that had in.

Booked a table for a Saturday evening, fairly busy but as Ffestiniog is a quiet place and there’s not many restaurants here not surprising, it’s been painstakingly decorated with the locally mined slate especially the outside were you can sit afterwards and have a drink, had a lovely cooked rib eye steak and baby back ribs for main plenty on the plate, worth a visit.

I don't like posting negative reviews, but the service was so bad I felt obliged. Our waitress spent most of the time talking to another table, she ignored us when she walked by, and even another server had to go up to her to ask her to get drinks for one of her tables. When I got my Caesar salad I complained to her there was almost no lettuce- mostly a mound of chicken and bacon absolutely saturated in mayonnaise. She comes back from the kitchen and said the cook said there are a few more pieces underneath. I counted, in total 6 pieces of very small gem lettuce pieces for a whole salad and she blatantly ignored my complaint. The butternut sqash soup had no flavour- I don't even think they put any seasoning, not even salt into it. I almost rarely don't finish my meal,. and I was hungry and could not finish it. On a good note my son ordered the salmon steak and he said it was very good. The decor was also clean and fresh.

We are here what staying in the town. Thank goodness it’s here as there’s hardly anywhere else to eat other than a couple of uninspiring looking (and in one case, tasting) takeaways.

This is the second time we have been to this restaurant. again the food was excellent, along with the service. we will definitely come here again when we next visit wales.

Wir hatten einen Haus-Burger und einen vegetarischen Burger und beide waren fast ungenießbar - die Boulette beim Haus-Burger war gekauft und schmeckte entsprechend...

Little gem in the middle of slate city. Great food, good selection of wine and Beer (Wrexham lager, up the super town)! 4 tables available in thr old vault, worth requesting, something different.

Went on Friday night, had tomatoes soup very nice, followed by vegie pizza, would have been ok if base was cooked through, instead very doughy and pour selection of sauce, tasteless. Partner had scampi and chips, scampi ok but chips not crispy,pp probably sitting too long after cooking, all up not impressed.

Not the widest menu or variety of drinks but what they do is certainly very good. The rib-eye steak I had was perfectly cooked to medium rare. The Hunter's chicken was equally good. Starters were the ribs and halloumi and both were very tasty. The serving team were very efficient and friendly. Not many places to eat out here and this is definitely worth a visit.

We visited the Quarrymen for a meal Sunday evening. Really cool place which used to be a bank. You can even dine in the vault! We were a party of 4 along with 3 dogs. All were welcomed and the young lady serving us was good fun. The food menu had a reasonable selection. A selection of local bottled beer was ordered. My food choice of the minted lamb burger did not disappoint. Followed by a toffee sauced waffle with ice cream. Yum! Would recommend.

Friendly staff great food a good choice of local bottled beers, fantastic views and even a shop to buy local slate products. This has become our favourite place in Blaenau. See you soon

We went in here for a meal on our wedding anniversary and enjoyed it so much we came back the next day. Probably the best steak I have ever eaten, good selection of local bottled beers. Staff were ever so friendly and even spent time teaching my wife a few Welsh words and sayings. Lovely views from the terrace. Highly recommended if in the area.

Excellent food, tasty, freshly cookee and piping hot. Plenty of choice. I'm a coeliac so needed gluten free and there was plenty to choose from, including really yummy chips cooked in separate fryer. Nothing was too much trouble, the friendly staff made sure I had a good meal. Reasonably priced, local beers. Would highly recommend!

We were recommended this place by a guy in the local shop. Boy do we owe him a thank you. So much so we went back the next night. Service was on point and the food was equally as good.

We ate here on Easter Monday evening. The staff were very friendly and the food was good. We would eat here again.

The food was good, well cooked and decent quality, with excellent portion sizes to boot. The service was excellent, the restaurant spotlessly clean and the meal and wine was excelent value (OK, we only had mains, but I have paid more just for drinks in some restaurants).

We were on holiday with our 10 year old daughter and were recommended The Quarryman by locals. We made our reservation, in person, for Friday evening on the Wednesday, as we were passing by. The member of staff we spoke with even advised us of the best time to book ie: 7.30pm or 8pm so we chose the latter. On arrival we asked for a table outside as it was a beautiful hot sunny evening. We were shown to a table. We then waited for 15 minutes before our drinks orders were taken. The food order was taken at the same time. Then a further 15 minutes later, still no drinks, another member of staff approached our table and told us we would have to wait one and a half hours for food and that she was sorry. They were "busy" and the "kitchen was small". I explained that we had actually made the reservation 2 days before and were even advised on the best time to come. I also pointed out that we had a young child with us but all we were told was that they were sorry. We never got to sample the "amazing local food" and "lovely wine" because we left and made the best out of a very unpleasant end to our lovely holiday, because we didn't want to be eating at 10pm especially with a young child. It was too late by then to go else where so we cooked in. It was a real shame and very frustrating as we'd been really looking forward to a good meal out. However, the most annoying thing was that all the "manager" could say was "I'm sorry" and at no point did she offer any solution to rectify the problem or ease the unpleasantness of it all.

Great freshly cooked food, friendly staff and dog friendly. Perfect for our family so we went twice during our holiday.

Couldn't have wished for a tastier anniversary meal. locally sourced meat, home made chips and desserts, delicious wine and great value for money , great friendly service top food and we walked away with a lamp from the bar. EAT HERE, YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED....
