This restaurant is now called the Golden Curry and is under new management so Trip Advisor you need to change some of the information on your site.We went for a meal on Saturday night and it was absolutely stunning. Fresh, colourful, tasty with beautiful herbs and spices. My king prawns were the best I have ever tasted. The staff could not possibly have been more attentive. Such lovely people. Highly recommended!

This restaurant is no longer called Chutneys! Chutneys closed some time ago after standards seemed to slip. The new restaurant is called Golden Curry and it couldn’t be different!! The menu is tempting and inviting, service is excellent and the food is wonderful. I asked for a chicken saag. It wasn’t on the menu, but no problem!! Chef prepared it anyway and it was superb. My wife chose a white fish curry which was also exceptional. Well done manager, Kamal and welcome back to the high quality Mumbles Indian curry scene. You have set the standard very high.

Cold feeling to the place, Starters were ok which was Chicken Tikka & My hubby had Special Tikka, The waiter arrived then with our main meal, which he wiped over the plates with a cloth, went to put my plate down the took it back very quickly and blew something off my plate with his mouth (DISGUSTING) The chicken madras was bland and tasteless, I could have made better myself out of a jar... The men' s toilets were smelly with about 20 flies in there (My Hubby told me, I didn't go in there) also the ladies toilets had flies in there too, We could not get out of this place quick enough.... As we were paying I noticed more flies around the bar area... We will definitely not be returning... SHOCKING!!!!!!!!!

Four of us went for an early meal fancying an Indian meal. Service was quite good and restaurant nice in a standard Indian restaurant way. My Garlic Chilli Masala was excellent, very tasty, just the right hotness perhaps a little oily but no problem as it was so delicious, my wife's Chicken Tikka Masala was one of the best she has had. Plenty of pickles on the pickle tray - including a lime chutney which is missing in a lot of Indians recently. Quality chicken. Chilli rice option was a new one to me and nice.Only disappointment was no draught beer/lager, and no large bottles in stock so small ones had to do.

Went yesterday with the wife for an evening meal, this was the place where we ate every time when we were younger and wanted Indian food, been a while since we called here, so firstly no draft beer either small bottles of strongbow or cobra, or large bottles of cobra, ordered all in one go... sorry no large bottles of cobra.mmm... starters, chutney tray and poppadoms fantastic, ever so light and fresh poppadoms although the tray seemed a little plastic, ha well chicken Rogan for the wife and lamb Karahi for myself chips Peshwari nan onion bhaji sides. disappointed with everything, rogan was luke warm and watery with chips under cooked, the chicken was just cooked pieces completely white not an ounce of any type of marinate, the Karahi came in a cold skillet and the lamb wasn't to bad but the sauce wasn't rich and lovely more like warmed in a saucepan and mixed in, the last moan was about the onion bhaji they were tasteless and hard we complained about them they were so bad, I left half my nan it was just full of coconut paste no fruit at all, cant put it into words how disappointed we were with the whole meal wont be going there again, last thing in case people think maybe they were busy when we ordered the food? we were the only people in the restaurant at the time 7pm.

We went here one rainy windy evening because we like Indian food and it was just around the corner from our B++B . We were the only two in , but throughout the evening lots of people popped in for takeaways . The waiters were pleasant enough but a little casual and distracted and I felt they wouldn't have cared if we had not turned up really, they warmed up through the night . The food was very pleasant , no better no worse than any standard Indian restaurant we've been to , which if you like the flavours and spices is pretty good , I would certainly say go there and try , especially if you like not being left alone to eat and don't mind a casual air to the service , it suited us perfectly that evening , we sat and talked and ate good food and took our time .....don't expect to be blown away , but do expect pleasant Indian food .

I came here with my family on a Thursday night and I would never go back. We were one of three tables there, so it wasn't a busy night. We had to wait 10 minutes until our drinks orders were taken, only to be told the only soft drink they had in stock was coke, the water we ordered never came. We asked to place our food orders but after waiting 20 minutes they still hadn't taken our orders so we decided to pay for our drinks and leave. The staff were rude, you could tell they didn't want to be there, they did not apologise, nor did they even say bye when we left. I'm not one to complain but we couldn't belive how rude the staff were. I have been here years ago when it was a nice place but it's certainly changed. I've used this restaurant on a few occasions and have always enjoyed the food and ambience. It's out of town and doesn't stay open until the wee small hours, unlike the Indians closer to the city centre, probably as a result I've never seen trouble there. The curries and did dishes are invariably well cooked and tasty, although to menu is limited to your usual curry based fare. That said it's a reliable place for a curry and somewhere I'd recommend in the area.

This was one of my favourite places to eat in Swansea. I've been away for a year and a half and since my last visit they have introduced a new rule; each person has to order a main course. We placed our order which consisted of 3 rice, 4 starter dishes, 2 breads, and 3 mains, ample food for the 5 of us to share. We were then told that we were all supposed to order a main dish (it did say this on the menu but we hadn't seen it). There was no one else in the restaurant and the waiter was kind enough to ask the chef if we could continue with our order; he said we could this time but next time we would all be expected to order a main dish. Sadly this will be our last trip to Churney's. I love the food there but prefer to order 1 main and a variety of starters between 2 and as this is no longer an option I will be eating my curry somewhere else in Swansea from now on.

Took the family for a meal and was impressed by.the decor and service. The food was lovely but as a vegetarian i ordered a vegetable madras. The staff kindly put the meal into a takeaway carton as I could not eat all the meal. However while finishing the meal later on in the evening I was chewing on a large set of bones from a chicken! Having not eaten chicken for 21 years in.as confused what I was chewing on and my partner pointed out it was chicken. And large too. Not even a meat eater should have to deal with that hazard in their food never mind a vegetarian. So initial positive Thoughts turned into my worst nightmare and will not return as I'm sceptical about their food standards policy. On another note I paid by debit card and entered my pin which showed up in numbers on the pin machine and told the staff member the machine has asked for account number and sort code. He looked confused and could plainly see my pin number and started again. Which made me feel uncomfortable.

Went to Chutneys yesterday (November 20th)evening drinks waiter was on the ball & delivered a decent size glass of red wine. We made our choice from the menu & waited, & waited, they were busy but people that arrived after us were served before us, a bit annoying! Finally we had to collar a passing waiter to eventually get served. My choice when it arrived was fine my wife found her Korma rather too sweet tasting. waiters did their job but were a bit distant. We paid & left without comment. Now comes the 'difficult bit' later in the night I was very sick with a nasty headache my meal, a Biriyani, was lost! Do I blame the restaurant? Plus one of the last occasions I went their they allowed people to queue jump right in front of our eyes even though we had been waiting, they said they had booked but still had to ask how many were in the party also because they had a large party in they were the only people getting service we waited an hour for our starters & didn't get our poorly cooked food until they left an hour & three quaters after we had arrived.I used to like to take visitors their when they were here but I Won't be going there again. The food looked good but I found (to my taste at least) it was actually quite bland and also over-salty.There is clearly a regular clientele and the waiters appeared to be friendly and chatty towards the customers they knew, with good humoured banter at certain tables. If they had been like that with all the clients then I would have had a better experience, but as a first time customer I was all but ignored and apart from taking my order barely a word was spoken.I definitely felt like there was a two-tier thing going on - come on, everyone has to be a new customer once!On the plus side it was decent value for money, but I won't be rushing back.

Whenever we visit family in the Mumbles we always get our takeaway from Chutneys! Its delicious. I do however have one criticism, the take away menu says that the Chicken/LAmb tikka biriani comes with tikka sauce (whereas the regular chicken biriani states that it comes with vegetable curry), however I think this must be a miss print because I get a vegetable curry with my chicken tikka biriani every time! I would love it if they offered the tikka masala sauce to go with the chicken/lamb tikka biriani, then I would give the establishment 5*!

On returning one time I'd found that my favourite curry house was no more which of course meant I needed to find a new one. I tried a variety of places which were nice enough but this was the one that kept me coming back. Each time I return to Swansea, a trip to Chutney's is a must. Have been here twice and the first time we had one of the Chef's special dishes and it was great. This time we were initially the only ones there (never a good sign) and we asked about another of the Chef's specials and were assured it was nicely spiced but not overly hot. When it did arrive it was very disappointing and had little in the way of spice. We sent it back and it returned over spiced which I guess was to be expected. The service was pretty slow and the atmosphere was just not there compared with our first trip a few years back. Perhaps its changed hands or they were just having an off night but overall it was not encouraging.

Truely the worst curry I have ever eaten. Ive eaten a host of curries in a number of cities and am spoiled for choice in London. I did not expect much from this restaurant but it was horrific. My tandori was like gravy coated meat of the left over variety. The pilau rice was long grain. The massala was an unrecognisable watery slop, the bread was burnt. Just appalling. The only good thing was the popadoms and chutneys. Don't bother. Buy a readymeal curry from the co-op. will taste Michelin starred by comparison!

This is one of the very few restaurants open for business in Mumbles on a Sunday night, and we were very grateful to find it when we got into the town. It very good overall and we had nothing to complain about. For a meal of papadum, garlic naan, mixed vegetable curry, half a tandoori chicken, drinking water, and after dinner chocolate mints, the bill came to GBP13 for a family of three. The food was good - comparable to the Indian food that we have at home where it is part of our local cuisine. However, the tandoori here (it's brown) is a little different from ours, which it's orange reddish on the surface. They do takeaways. Parking is available up the road. With reference to some of the earlier comments, the menu clearly indicated which dishes were very spicy. While the waiter did seem a little cheerless initially, the service was just fine. I personally don't think waiters need to fawn on customers.

Probably the worst meal I have had in several years.Abysmal Atmosphere (No Background music in an empty restaurant, and no greetings from the member of staff who met us at the door. The restaurant felt really dismal and cheerless).Seriously Awful Service (The Staff just didn’t seem to care less. No one greeted us on arrival, we were eventually led to a table and left, and menus thrust at us whilst still taking our coats off. There was virtually no dialogue between us and the staff, and we found this odd, as generally staff in an Indian restaurant, are very amicable, and extremely polite and enthusiastic to assist). Terrible Food (With exception of the Pappadums, which were really quite good, the rest of the food, was dreadful, the amount of chilli in my Dhansak was so overpowering, my mouth was on fire, and I could taste nothing else. – I have had Dhansak in many restaurants, and it is not usually a particularly fiery dish. I actually could not eat the dish, so I left it. The glass of wine, I had ordered was so unpleasant, I left that too. Maybe the staff are used to problems, because not once, throughout our meal did they ask, if everything was okay, and when seeing the food left, they did not make any enquiries. They just gave us the bill).Really disappointing meal, so no tip left for the Boys from Chutney's.

I've visited Chutney's on two occasions. Once was to have a sit in meal which was delicious. The second time was to collect a take away which was very disapointing. On both times I ordered the same dish but they were very different to each other. Since then I've heard alot of people say the same thing. Sit in is much better but if you get a take away then expect to be served something generic.

We visited with friends for a catch up and a Sunday evening curry. The restaurant was quiet so our order was taken and the food came fairly quickly. My meal was fine, reasonably tasty but nothing particularly special in comparison to other Indian restaurants that I have eaten in in Swansea, and probably a bit more expensive too. I have to say that the place lacked atmosphere and the staff, while efficient, weren't particularly welcoming or friendly. Like some of the other reviewers before me, I would describe my experience here as ordinary or average and I would probably stick with my old favourites instead of coming here again.

The food here was very average - we literally had nowhere else to eat as after watching men 200m final, everything else was closed! The one member of staff who served us was off hand and not rude, but just off hand...The food was ok, edible for a couple of hungry people, but not great. The good thing I would say is that another wiater came to us at the end to get us the bill, and after some joking about not being able to save my husbands after dinner mint for him, he was kind enough to give us a few more! Nice friendly touch...although this is the only really good thing to say!!

Have heard people rave about this place. Found it rather ordinary actually and the meals were not particularly nice either - compared with other places we have visited.

Booked for 2 people and on arriving earlier checked by phone to say we were on our way. Only to be told by restaurant staff by phone, on your way where then hang up.Were not asked how the meal was and the waiters were arrogant and not welcoming on entering or leaving the premises.Food was ok but needs to address customer service manners. Is off my indian list and would not go back.

After being out of the country for a while the first place we head to upon return is Chutneys in Mumbles (we live close by). The Uk hosts the best curries in the world and chutneys is very good and when I am back ensure I eat there a few times a week as a few months with out a ruby is hard work.Anyway if your visiting for a surf trip or rugby then rest assured we have a good curry house here for you.Simon a lover of fine curries

Was kept waiting, and waiting, and waiting and then waiting some more. Asked what's going on every 15 minutes, "Coming now, sir", "Very soon now", "Be here right away" and so on. Doubt if they even bothered checking where the order actually was. After allowing over an hour past the time we were expecting the food (the initial estimate they gave us), we left. They didn't care.

We visited here when staying nearby in Gower, we were dying for a curry and this one had some good reviews. The service was fantastic. They noted my requests for no ghee in any dish and everything was cooked to order. The food was divine and very reasonably priced. The only difficulty was parking ,we managed to park on a side street, but it was tight. Locals might know better places to park!

A good range of flavours but sometimes the degree of heat isn't the same. More options for sides would be a great addition.
