Chu's Oriental Cuisine in Fylde

Called by phone at 21.56 to be tolled they close for take away at 10 ? On foot in town so called in to show face as twice a month regular at 22.02 told take away finished at 10 by gentleman manager. My order normally £16 to £25. Will never use them again. Food only 6 or 7 out of ten at best and thats only fri/sat . Hope all customers who have been treated the same do the same. Vote with feet 🤮

Party of 8, every main course tasted the same - Bland. Not cheap either, food expensive & drinks expensive (440cl can of Tetleys £3.80). Service slow, although very busy.

All 5 of us agreed that this was an amazing meal. We all had set menus and all found all food extremely tasty, non greasy and good portions. Atmosphere was nice and staff extremely friendly and helpful. All happy with price paid. Highly recommend and we all agreed we need to come back here again when back in lytham in summer.

Very average over priced food in pleasant restaurant surrounding. The meal was very rushed from start to finish and we felt like they wanted us out. The banquet meal was very run of the mill with no outstanding dishes and the lack of seasoning and taste was prominent with most of the choices. This could be a lot better if the chef's put a little more effort into the preparation. I have eaten far better Chinese food for less than half the price of Chu's. I know it's Lytham and your rates and rent are sky high but have a little think about the people you are serving.......they deserve more!

I have been to many Chinese restaurants in different countries, but Chu’s is the most delicious and varied Chinese food! Great friendly staff, beautiful restaurant interior and location in the city center!

Not been for a while and probably won't return again. Seated quickly and menus given by the manager (man) I asked about a children menu. His reply was no we don't have one but his tone was bolshy and rude! They next guy to serve us was really pleasant and chatty. The food for poor nothing special at all. No heat plates, rubbish paper napkins and no hot towels at the end of meal! Poor service and cutting corners. Go to Zen or Bangkok Thai!

For many years we have held large family events at this restaurant and have always enjoyed the food and the service. We used to go to a similar restaurant in St Annes Square before they started cutting costs and raising prices. Unfortunately, Chu's is now doing the same. We always have the same banquet set menu so it was easy to see the standard has declined. We now get paper napkins instead of laundered ones - not fatal but ominous. The starter used to include mini ribs and skewers. it now just has prawn toast, seaweed and spring rolls. The main course used to have beef in black been sauce. It's now crispy beef, King prawns and a chicken in satay sauce (so bland that it was almost tasteless). I'm not a wine snob but we tried a number of the wines on Saturday night and they're all vying to be the cheapest battery acid on the lowest shelf in Tesco's value range (apart from the Rioja which was nice). The only redeeming feature was the service, which, as always, was impeccable. I get that costs are rising etc etc but if you are paying hundreds of pounds for a family experience and you get this sub-standard fare, why would we ever go back? If it's degenerating into the type of tourist trap where people only go the once, then they risk alienating the people who keep it going in the winter. I would really have preferred to write this review as a private message to the owner since we do have some lovely memories of this place but their website doesn't include a facility to message them or an email address. However, I do hope they take a look at their business and think about doing better.

I’ve had some bad Chinese meals but this was by far the worse ! The food was inedible and the customer service was non existent ! Absolutely awful place

Went here lots of time in lockdown and food was always lovely. Ordered takeout last night for our daughters birthday and it has deteriorated so much. Dry tasteless overpriced food. Couldn’t give a good review to any of the dishes we had. Will never return.

We were a family of 4 on a Saturday night. It was busy but not completely full. The service was very, very slow. The dirty plates from our starters were left staring at for over 20 minutes and then we waited another 15 minutes for our main courses after asking twice where they were. We had flag down a member of staff (with some difficulty) to order more drinks. We asked for the bill but 10 minutes later when no one came to take payment I had had enough and took my card to the desk. When paying I mentioned how poor the service had been and was greeted with a disinterested stare. They seem to prioritise take away orders which is clearly big business for them judging by the unsightly pile of takeaway delivery bags piled up near the desk. It wasn’t an enjoyable experience and we won’t be returning any time soon.

Made a booking for large group including my newborn son of 14 weeks. Upon arrival was greeted very rudely by one of the owners, who told me that no prams were allowed. This was not told to me upon booking and left a very unhappy group ringing restaurants to find a table free. When leaving the same woman rudely said ‘where do you expect us to put prams’. More fool this place for letting a large group walk out when restaurant was extremely quiet!

Good service. Extremely fast. Went on a Tuesday expecting it to be quite. They had an offer if £15 for 2 courses. The place was packed. Food was great. Both courses were well presented and tasted good. Would definitely try it again and try the main menu next time as it offers choice than the offer menu.

We visited the restaurant twice - once for takeaway & the other to dine in. The food was excellent on both occasions, lots of food, super fast service and the actual restaurant environment is lovely.

We dine out each week for a treat and boy was this place a treat. We agreed that it was best chinese we had ever been to. Set on outskirts of Lytham and there is plenty of parking in an evening. We booked a head and from the moment we walked in, we were treated like old returning friends. The restaurant is beautiful and gives a real impression that you are being treated. Whole place was spotless. Menu was very extensive and not expensive. We ordered drinks which soon arrioved along with the obligatory prawn crackers. For staters we opted for chicken noodle soup which was absoutely beautiful. Next we had a side of vegeatble spring rolls. These were best ever. On to the mains, I had chicken curry and wifey had sizzling beef. The portions were huge, the food was piping hot and absolutelu sublime. Waiting service was extrely efficient without being in your face and the waiter (owners son) took time to chat with us.. A few weeks ago, we went to Michael Wans in Blackpool. That is meant to be nice but I can assure you, Chus is far superior in every single area. I can only think negative reviews are for take aways. We will definitely return and highly recommend

We had soup ...quite tasty . But main course ....fried rice ....had massage lump of cold fried egg in it . Despite using good quality prawns sauce absolutely no flavour also same with duck!! Should have been better as restaurant prices quite expensive !

Going for a Chinese meal as a coeliac is typically a nightmare, however the team at Chu's were brilliant, providing me with a gluten free menu which had a good amount of options to choose from.When the food arrived, it was tasty and it was nice to be eat something similar to the rest of my family rather than just plain rice and chicken. I'd definitely return.

Passed this restaurant many times and finally visited the other night, however wish I hadn’t bothered as we were totally underwhelmed. Although I enjoy a place with atmosphere the table we had was so noisy around us with two large tables at either side we could hardly hear one another. This isn’t necessarily the restaurants fault, however they should maybe intervene and ask for a little consideration for others but the staff management didn’t.t seem to bother. The food was ok and the seat we had next to the toilet seemed cold. Couple of examples of things where they let themselves down we’re when my wife asked for a knife as there was none on the table the waitress went off for it but never came back and another was noodles arriving when we didn’t ask for any. The young local staff they employ though should however be commended on there efforts and in particular Leo who was particularly helpful and pleasant. Bottom line, won’t be back not because it is terrible but in my opinion far better options nearby, in particular Zen found in St Annes.,

This is a favorite place for family friends! Obviously popular with the locals because many of the tables around us were full. We were all happy with what we ordered. Not easy to say with a group of people. They keep the rice covered so it stays warm and the servers were attentive. I was particularly happy because they made a special order of fresh vegetables for me--I don't consider bamboo shoots and water chestnuts vegetables! They gave me some wonderful Udon noodles (maybe called something else in England) to go with it. The only disappointment was that the Monk fish my husband ordered was deep fried and the sauce the same as sweet sour pork.

Got a takeaway and the service wasn’t great. The wings were missing chilli and chopped onions and the ribs were dry and without sauce. I will choose to spend my money elsewhere in the future.

Ordered a takeaway last night and it was just awful. Prawn toast put in a sealed plastic box which made it soggy and inedible.

I’ve eaten here before and enjoyed it. I like the buffet but the ordering system is very confusing for my little brain to process. It was generally ok, but not quite as good as last time. Anyway, onto the drinks. My preference is for cold drinks, not lukewarm drinks with one dismal ice cube. I think the fridge was broken, and they were improvising. In which case, a lot more liberality with the ice is in order.

Firstly the quality of the food is excellent, one the nicest salt and chili chicken and satay beef dishes we’ve ever had, the boiled rice which need to be purchased separate was also very nice. Nice surroundings in a lovely town

Had the buffet and it was very nice. The buffet is on Sunday,Tuesday and Thursday the price for this is £15 per person. You can order as much as you want from the set menu but they bring it to your table as it’s not like a normal buffet it’s cooked to order so it nice and fresh and hot. All the food in the attached pictures are from the buffet and it did taste as good as it looked. The staff could had been more friendly but never mine. Try it out I don’t think you will be disappointed. The buffet menu is in one of the pictures.

Very dissapointed as I had heard very good reports. Starters of Pork rolls and Capital ribs were quite nice, main of salted Chilli chicken was awful, (like McDonalds popcorn chicken), dry and tasteless, had to leave two thirds of it, the pork cantonese style was in exactly the same sauce as the Capitol Ribs,and the crispy noodles were dry and tasteless. The wine was of a decent standard and price, otherwise it was not very good.

This is one of my favourite Chinese on the fylde coast! Food is always top quality and choice on the banquet is brilliant! Excellent staff and the restaurant is lovely inside! Would highly recommend visiting on a Sunday, Tuesday or Wednesday for the banquet as there is no other quality banquet like it locally!

We visited early on a Friday evening, having booked earlier in the day. Service, food and drink were excellent. The variety on the menu is great and the service could not have been better.

Was excited to return to Chu's after 4 years and ended up going early at around 5-30 as we didn't have a reservation we thought it wouldn't be an issue to get a table. The welcome at FoH was not that welcoming although they made a table available for 90 minutes as it was a busy evening.

I had never been to this restaurant before even though I'd passed it hundreds of times. The interior was pleasant with a modern layout. The food quality was above normal Chinese restaurants and service was good. I went for the buffet menu.

Party of 8 visited & had buffet menu. Food was plentiful with a good selection of main courses. The starters were a bit bland & the crisy beef very dry & over cooked. The salt & pepper chicken wings were excellent. Hot & sour soup excellent. Chinese draught beer expensive & not chilled. Overall very good but not 5 stars for me.

We went here for first time with parents as birthday treat. Very stylish inside and all one level for those with mobility problems. Staff very friendly and food was out of this world. We had salt and chilli wings, spicy pork lettuce wraps and the chu combination starter. All delicious For mains we had aromatic duck, special curry, special salt and pepper, crispy beef in capital sauce and chicken in oyster sauce. It was absolutely amazing food and so fresh. Cannot find a single fault and now my favourite restaurant. Will be seeing you again very soon.

Geat food, good table spacing, reasonable if not cheap prices. Do no be afraid to ask for another table if you do not like the one given to you. Does get busy, so book early and whilst lots of parking locally the early diner goes a space nearer to the restaurant.

Following recommendations from family members, four of us attended Chu's in Lytham for the first time. A table was booked which was good as the place at 7.00pm was virtually full. Shown to the table and drinks ordered which arrived almost straight away. We decided to try the "Eat as much as you like” Buffet and it was a good choice. Choice of 3 soups, Crabmeat and Sweetcorn ,Hot and Sour, or Shredded Duck.The soup was served in lovely dishes with a chinese spoon and was piping hot.Then the starters, which were Vegetarian Mini Spring Rolls, Siu Mai (steamed pork dumpling) Honeyed Crispy Beef Strips , Salted and Chilli Wings and Flower Rolls (prawn & ham). All presented in a large plate to simply help yourself.Onto the main course, Crispy Shredded Beef in Capital Sauce ,Curry Beef , Chicken with Mushrooms, Chicken in Satay Sauce, Sweet and Sour Pork, Bamboo Shoots & Water Chestnuts, all served with egg fried rice or boiled rice, all served in nice chinese dishes. All this was only £15.80 each and with a few drinks the total bill was only £86.

This was our first visit to this restaurant and went along with family who had been before and fully agreed with their views that it would be a great evening out.

We visited Chu’s with friends on a wet Sunday evening at the beginning of February and were amazed how busy it was at 7pm in the evening. Service was excellent considering the number of people in the restaurant and we had a lovely meal without feeling rushed. Four of our party had the ‘eat all you can’ buffet option and thoroughly enjoyed it, although when you compared the price of the buffet with my own two course meal, the prices were quite similar. Chu’s is definitely the best Chinese Restaurant in the area.

Been using the Blackpool sister restaurant since it opened so thought I’d try lytham !! Great restaurant plenty of room and spotless in appearance! Staff are really attentive and the food was sublime,the buffet menu is the best I’ve had and really tasty ! Don’t miss out on this place.

Nice ambiance in this well appointed reasturant .frendly staff who are very attentive .buffet menu but all food cooked fresh so has not been lying idle under a heat so all tasted fresh .duck pancakes were top in fact we could not fault the food at all .on paper the menu seems good value but what the add ons it soon keeps up .

We have visited with friends a few times also just the two of us. This has got to be best Chinese in Lancashire. Although not cheap it is good value for money. If you are tight like me don't order starters and drink at Wetherspoons before you go!!!

Went for the all you can eat buffet as we had been before 3 years ago and it was good then. All waitress served, not a buffet, The soups were superb both hot and sour and chicken and water chestnuts. All 5 starters cooked perfectly as were the 4 main courses. Draft Chinese lager very good as was the service from the waitresses who asked if we wanted more. Huge dissapointment at the end when we asked for the bill, 20p less than £50 which was much greater than the 40.40 it should have been. The youngish man who brought the bill insisted it was correct, which we refused to accept. He eventually gave us the correct price, though not before he had swiped the £5 tip we had left for the waitresses. Check your bill!

My first visit and on a Sunday evening. The décor was was very nice and we received a warm welcome. I was impressed with the extensive but a little pricey menu. There were Xmas crackers on the table and a nice seasonal slant throughout. The food arrived piping hot and just the right amount of time between courses. We had prawn toast, satay skewers, seaweed and pork dumplings. All delicious and cooked to perfection. We then had Singapore vermicelli, crispy beef and sizzling fillet steak. The meat in both dishes was beautifully tender and full of flavour. The quality of the food was reflected in the price but I wouldn't hesitate in visiting again.

Situated in the town centre, the restaurant was warm, comfortable and friendly. Decor was excellent.

I've heard a lot of rave reviews of this place in the past, so perhaps my expectations were higher than they should have been. Nevertheless, it was a delicious meal. The highlight for me would be the hot and sour soup, I would have happily just had a giant bowl of that.

20 diners recently met for their annual Chinese get - together. Fabulous welcome, service and food. Drinks very expensive.This criticism was soon forgotten due to the food, ambience and company. We shall return.

I have never even to Chu’s Chinese restaurant before but the friends who invited us there go on a regular basis and rave about the place.

The food was excellent and quick. It was all reasonably priced compared to other restaurants. The sweet and sour chicken was perfect and the mushroom fried rice was on point. However, the prawn dish didn't come out, however in the end we were full up so it wasn't an issue. My first time of many at Chus.

Visit Chus regularly, it’s our go-to Chinese restaurant around the Preston area. Never disappointed by the food. The staff are all extremely helpful and friendly and work extremely hard- it’s always busy! Speedy service and reasonably priced.

Went here with my wife 9/9/2018 and I have to say the food was amazing we didn’t go for the buffet but there were a lot of people that did and they looked happy with it we went for the main menu I went for the fillet steak sizzler it was very tasty my wife went for the king prawn and she said they were delicious would recommend and I will definitely be back

Chu's has always been our 'go to' chinese as we live local. The food is always up to a high standard and we have always been impressed with everything we've tried. The buffet menu is very good value for money and always has different combinations of food which is why we enjoy it so much. The hot and sour soup is the best we've ever had and get it every single time we go. The staff are polite and welcoming however sometimes aren't as tentative as they are in other restaurants.

Opted for the Buffett menu value for money .

We had the menu for two which we were able to change some of the choices. The food kept coming and coming. The food was very tasty and very hot. There is quite a choice on the menu so there is something for everyone's taste. We left feeling well fed and nicely stuffed.

We have eaten here before in the restaurant. This time we needed to have a carry out. We phoned our order in in advance and it was ready for us on arrival. Everything was delicious and piping hot when we got home. Generous portions and reasonably priced.

First time eating at chu’s and me and my partner both ate from the buffet menu which we really enjoyed. I think it was £15/£16 for and what you pay for what you get is really good. A choice soup, a choice of 4/5 starter dishes and then choice of 4/5 main dishes also, plus you can more of whatever you like. Really impressed and will definitely be returning! Thankyou!

We've used Chu's now several times and never had a bad meal. I always judge a restaurant on how many people use it and on the evening we went there must have been nearly 80 people dinning. The menu is extensive, the drinks reasonably priced, the service quick and friendly and the food quality and quantity are excellent. What more can you ask for?
