We used to use the Ocean Chinese takeaway regularly until a couple of years ago but after a couple of bad meals we stopped using them. After reading some recent reviews we thought we would try it again but I’m afraid the food has not improved at all. It is so overcooked the chicken in the chow mein has turned to mush and all the vegetables, instead of being crunchy and fresh taste slimy and overcooked. We also had some BBQ spare ribs which were rock hard to chew. We ended up throwing most of it away and for over £21 paid, it’s a lot of money to waste, won’t be using it anymore, will go up to the Chinese in Easton Square which actually is very good.

I have been going to this Chinese takeaway for over 30 years! My favourite dish has always been Roast Duck with King Prawn stuffing in Oyster Sauce. It has always been excellent with lots of prawn and a full breast of duck neatly sliced. However, the last two times ( yesterday being the most recent) the meal has changed completely. Very little prawn stuffing and just a few lumps of gristly duck skin and gristle. The accompanying BBQ spare ribs were also poor - dry and very little meat. What's going on East Ocean?? You have lost a good regular customer!

We have been going to the East Ocean for 15 years and think it’s great! Tasty food, good portions, good staff- and a good price. Can’t ask for anything else from a takeaway! We regularly have Special Fried Rice; Sweet and Sour Chicken; Chicken and Cashew nuts and Chicken Chow Mein. I can’t comment on everything on the menu but the dishes that we have had have been delicious!

East Ocean is a reliable takeaway which never fails to supply excellent food at great value. The menu is extensive and service is usually very prompt.

I had the char sui pork noodle dish, what a mistake - plenty of pork but the rest was just carrots and MSG, so much MSG dry mouth all night , really cannot recommend this takeaway they'd be out of business in days if they served this in Manchester.

Ordered a Special foo young got it home opened the lid can’t believe what I saw it was like a burnt soggy flat omelette and tasted greasy…very disappointing wasn’t edible binned it won’t go back and they only take cash no cards !

Visiting my daughter and son in law for the first time since they moved in to the area, my son in law popped down here to pick up- a selection of dishes for when we arrived after a long journey due a couple of motorways being shut between Mansfield and our destination. The food was excellent and of generous portions for 5 of us..This place id a def 5 star and will come back here again next time we are up here

We had chicken fu yung, deep fried beef and BBQ ribs in sauce. It was delicious. The BBQ sauce we ordered separate for our rice was sooo tasty. Compliments to the chef!!

Shredded beef with chilli was a block of solid red jellied slop, tasting awful. the rice was all stuck together and a dirty brown , it had been heated up in the microwave. This is by far the worst Chinese I’ve ever had.

Recently moved to Kirkham so weren’t sure where to go for a Chinese takeaway. Wasn’t disappointed with my choice.. certainly would recommend to anyone, salt and pepper chips were one of the best I’ve ever had.

I have been eating here for over 20 years and have never been disappointed. Great food and excellent portions willing to adapt order for you .

Fantastic take away. The food is always really tasty and well cooked. Sometimes is hard to get through on the phone and you have to wait a while but it’s worth it. It’s only because the place is so busy. The salt and pepper ribs are a personal favourite!

Had a takeaway from here and it was very good. It wasn’t the cheapest takeaway but you do get what you payfor

Food Luke warm!!Wrong food to what was ordered!! When complained was told you got what you ordered yet I go every week the only difference was the person taking the order who got it wrong yet it was not there fault yet I go every week. Rang up and had a kid telling me it’s my fault and not there’s yet I order the same every time New Beijing it is from now on.

We went here as the takeaway down the road had a employee with a bad attitude . The lady at this counter was lovely x The only thing they should explain it when you order sweet and sour chicken ball that it’s Cantonese style you will get as some of my party don’t like sweet and sour .

Food was absolutely rank chips tasted like they was 2 months old chicken tasted like dog chow mein was dry and all my curry was in the bottom of them carrier bag when arrived, also the bag of chips had two wholes in and took over an hour to deliver. If you like good Chinese do not go east ocean

Salt and pepper ribs and king prawn curry is my favourite. Set meal for 4 is good value and tasty! We order mid week usually but always ready on time.

East ocean is by far, the best takeaway in the kirkham/Wesham/Wrea green area. The food is always outstandingly tasty and the staff are always highly friendly! They have a very large variety of choice, at a reasonable price. I tend to order over the phone, to save waiting as it can sometimes get busy! The only little negative is that East Ocean only accepts cash, not card, however there’s a cash machine a few seconds up the road if needed. In particular, the seaweed, salt and pepper chips and sweet and sour chicken are amazing!

Consistently good food, best salt and pepper chips around and good meat quality. My favourite takeaway by far!

Tried this Chinese at the weekend, and wow!! This takeaways food is amazing, the curry had just enough spice and heat in it, And the sweet and sour chicken was excellent, made fresh with proper chicken not processed. Will definitely use again!

I used to work at east ocean many years ago and have been eating from there since then do in 16 years I have never had a bad meal and never had bad experience with staff (although some are abit dopey at times) and there is a reason why that take away is always busy if you have never been I highly reccomend tying for yourself and not listening to other people's reviews as they are talking rubbish for example I saw 1 about not getting discount for ordering early and I know that east ocean has never give discount for that reason and people complaining about price it does seem more expensive than others but others don't have rice or chips included in price so once that's added east ocean is also competitive price wize and when you see 1 person giving multiple bad reviews it seems as if there just doing if for the sake of it so try yourself and I'm sure you will enjoy your food at good price. There is a reason why the same people have run east ocean for the last 20+ years and it's not because the food is crap and bad service

We have eaten takeaways from the East Ocean for years and never had a complaint. Excellent friendly service and food to match. The salt and pepper fries are fab 👍🏼

Been here couple times and had the same thing happen....order chicken curry no veg allergy to onions to get home start eating and find big clumpy onions in my curry when call to tell them you just get mouthful of abuse good job i didnt eat the onion could been alot worse than just being put off my food. Will NOT be eating here again!!!!

Order from here regularly .... I ordered on Friday night and the curry didn’t taste right which 3 of us ordered and all 3 of us thought it was very bland.

Friendly staff. But food isn’t good and I only ordered 2 portion of chips, 1 portion salt and pepper chips which were rubbish and the worst curry. Nothing like a Chinese curry sauce!!!

Just had an amazing tasting take away from here. I can highly recommend the fillet steak cantanise, very tender and tasty. Salt and pepper chips are amazing. I recommend ringing your order through first because the place is often very busy.

Negative reviews nearly put me off ordering from here but honestly this is the best Chinese I’ve ever had & I am very particular!! We popped in to order, food was ready in twenty min max & it was a large order for 6 people. They serve the food in the large foil trays (not the slim plastic ones most use) which gave us plenty of hot tasty flavoursome food!! The food was cooked fresh & served piping hot, very tasty & didn’t give us the usual dehydrated feeling which most Chinese places do where I live (in the Midlands). We loved it so much we had two orders from here during our weeks stay at Ribby Hall. Highly recommended & will be back to order when we return in August

Was served takeaway by a young lady who overcharged me. I queried the bill to be told that i hadn't qualified for the early discount despite the time. Will never return for average food at corrupt prices.

Staying close by and used TA to find a decent Chinese. Really disappointed... chips were awful... frozen kind that still taste frozen, not fresh. The crispy spring rolls were of a similar processed taste to the chips and only two in a portion. The chicken and mushroom had hardly any mushrooms and no vegetables at all so basically a sauce with chicken and very few mushrooms. Don't bother going!

We chose this takeaway because our usual chinese takeaway was closed and one of our sons enjoys the chicken curry when he visits us. Perhaps we should have had that. The kung po chicken and chicken chow mein were distinctly average and lacking taste (except for salt). On the plus side - it was reasonably busy when we called in and the food was ready pretty much to the timescale they promised. We will not rush back.

Over charged, rude abusive staff, average food, smallish portions and liars when it comes to timings. Food, TBH is just ok anyway so why put up with the abuse that it comes with???????????????

Y algo que no será haciendo de nuevo! Fue una visita espontánea y surgió para ser una muy agradable! Para un martes por la noche me sorprendió lo concurrido y popular era! Sin sitio web o página de Facebook nos tuvimos que llamar y "adivinar" de nuestra orden, pero el miembro fuera personal que hable fue extremadamente servicial e incluso leer todos los platos de pollo para mí! Entre los tres de nosotros tuvimos platos de carne, platos de pollo, arroz y por supuesto las fichas chinos famosos. . . Cada comida era deliciosa! Alta calidad, sabor, caliente y muy buena! ! ! Una para llevar tales agradable! Volveremos. . . Y ahora tenemos un montón de menús listos para la próxima vez! ! !

No había comida para llevar desde aquí en un tiempo hasta el otro día. Tan bueno como siempre, la comida totalmente auténticos, recién preparado. Me encanta los rollos de tortitas y siempre tengo que tener Singapur Chow Mein como es nuestro favorito. Prepárate para esperar a veces ocupado, usted no será decepcionado!

Always order the beef in black bean sauce and boiled rice from here with some crispy chicken balls as well, very good quality food and friendly service every visit. Food is made in 15-20 minutes, can't fault it!

I've been having Chinese takeouts from here for many years and the food has always been good and the customer service has generally been good.

Chicken curry and beef in black bean sauce with noodles delicious. It is always busy at weekends so best ring and order food is always hot and tasty.

You have to wait an eternity for food, which at best is mediocre when it does finally arrive. I think the food is expensive for what you get but there is never an excuse for rude cheeky staff. When I ordered through she took the order, asked if I wanted anything else, said "45 minutes" then put the phone down. They either need re-training (if they've had any at all I'd be surprised) or sacking. One or the other. I've sat there while the staff have been ruse and seen it first hand, there is never an excuse.

i would never go here unless you like 17 year old staff patronizing you when you order. its over priced mush. cheeky rude staff overdue waits for food and not worth it when it eventually arrives.

Being new to the area we decided to try a new Chinese takeaway and based on trip advisor reviews we tried east ocean in kirkham. Bearing in mind the advice from various reviews we placed a telephone order. We were told our order would take between 30 to 40 minutes. I got to the takeaway after 35 minutes and 30 minutes later our order was ready. One hour and five minutes is a long time to wait for an order in particular when the staff didn't apologise for the long wait. In my opinion it's just courtesy that if you've been waiting twice as long As you were told, to at least say sorry for your wait! The food itself was hot and in my opinion just standard and not good enough for me to go again and wait for such a long time. The hot and sour soup wasn't well balanced and was over peppery and the shredded beef was very gloopy and the Singapore rice was mushy and quite tasteless.So sadly our journey to find our new local Chinese takeaway will continue .

As someone who has eaten food from there plenty of times, I've never been disappointed with the food which is always very good. There's a wide range of meals to chose from.

Really enjoyed the last two recent takeaways we have had. Seems a busy takeaway. 30 to 40 minute wait at busy times. Meal always ready at given time.

My family has patronised East Ocean for a very long time and the reason is the efficiency of the pre - booked takeaway service.Always best to phone the order through in advance and if they say 20 minutes then 20 minutes it is.The menu is comprehensive and good value. Food hygiene standards are high and the staff are friendly and helpful.The waiting area may appear busy but if you are punctual when collecting your order it will be ready and you get served ahead of passing casual customers.

Always order from East ocean I agree with the other reviewers it is best to phone and order first as it is always busy. Food is excellent and the staff are always really helpful. The only negative point is they don't deliver. Highly recommended

We are staying at Ribby Hall and these put their menu in the reception. After a long day we fancied a takeaway. The satay skewers were disgusting, the chips were shop bought frozen ones dropped on a fryer and the rice was brown and mushy. Probably one of the worst meals I've ever had.

We went here on Fridaynight after looking on Google for takeaways, and this was was less than a mile and a half from Ribby Hall in Lytham. We got in at 5.30 and there was only one other person in, but when we left it was full, and the phone was constantly ringing. So if you go I strongly recommend you ring them to place an order, otherwise you could have a long wait ! But it was very tasty........

As locals we visit East Ocean on a regular basis. The food is always hot, tasty and reasonably price.We always pre order and seldom have to wait more than a couple of minutes to collect.It has to be said that counter - staff with a better command of English would assist at busy times, but the chefs always muddle through with a smile when serving at the sharp end.By far the best outlet on a main street overloaded with fast food outlets.

We stayed in Ribby Hall Village, they do not deliver but were only a five minute drive. Reasonable price, although they did not do some dishes I would expect a Chinese to do, such as Yuk Shung.The main dishes were all quite good, plenty of ginger in them, which I did not mind. The spring rolls were just bean sprouts and bits of chicken so were quite bland.

This is the best Chinese in the area, the food is second to none. Order before you go on a Friday and Saturday as it gets very busy - but a Chinese full of locals waiting for good can only be a good sign!Fantastic and tasty!

Love the food from here, we always have a girly night in and get chinese from here and I have family members that travel from poulton and preston to get this chinese ,,,,best is BBQ spare ribs and salt and pepper ribs and duck, all the other meals are standard chinese meals but it's great food and we have never had a problem ;)

Totally disagree with the other reviewer. This is better value and better quality than many of the others in Kirkham. It always seems busy which is a good sign. Only downside is it doesn't do delivery.

This take-away is not very good, do not recommend this place. Only 3 Hygiene ratings. Meat poor quality, not of a nice texture.
