We had a lovely Sunday lunch there and everybody was delighted with their food Generous portions, freshly made and a good selection of vegetables Small and unpretentious and very friendly Good value for money The restaurant used to be a sweet shop when we were kids! Good place to stay if you are in the area

A lovely restaurant to meet friends and family. The food was absolutely superb! I asked for the recipes, but was told rather coyly that they were family secrets. Shame! The game pie was lovely as was the bread pudding. Can't fault the service, presentation or taste. I'll be back.

Only 5-10 minutes by vehicle from the Donington Race Circuit, this hotel is a great place to stay. Very well decorated and exceptionally clean. The breakfast is also very good. I would certainly stay here again.

Don't be fooled by the outside, we booked for Sunday lunch at this hotel in November while in the area for Remembrance Sunday. Meal was delicious, hospitality excellent. Couldn't fault the service and had a lovely relaxed Sunday lunch in cosy surroundings. Would recommend

Upon approach you could be forgiven for thinking your booking might have been a mistake. Not so. The bedroom that we had was both very comfortable and with style. The bathroom sported a large corner bath with a fantastic shower (something that usually lets a room down). A lovely new TV with many channels. The breakfast was absolutely superb. At £40pppn a real bargain.

Large choice, freshly and superbly cooked. A real find, especially for £18 for three courses! Belly of pork is amongst the best I have had anywhere.

Nice Restaurant strangely, intimately but charmingly overlooking a local crossroads, right at the heart of the village. One feels part of the village scene. Food great and for change not the copiously overloaded with typical town restaurant 'fillers'. Thanks to the friendly management.

I have been here several times as part of a group. The bar service is positively shambolic. Very slow and unprofessional. There appears to be no dedicated barman or the normal things like ice, lemon etc on tap. Because the service is so slow, the bar gets very crowded with the queues. There is more seating available but first, one needs to get a drink. The restaurant has character and its rooms are charming. The food, however is very good indeed and I would have rated the restaurant higher if it hadn't been for the poor service. Having to plod down to the kitchen area to pay was rather unprofessional too. It is such a shame that this restaurant is let down by the slow service because the food is excellent.
