Went yesterday for the first time before leaving town and came back again once back in town. Great food and service. Good daily specials. Homemade burgers. 2 double cheeseburgers, basket of fries, and 2 drinks for $24.99.

The service provided is of exceptional quality, and the staff is welcoming and accommodating. Regarding the culinary offerings, my personal recommendation is the mushroom Swiss dish, which offers a delectable and flavorful experience. I encourage you to sample the entire menu, as each dish is crafted with care and attention to detail. The pricing is reasonable and commensurate with the quality of the dining experience.

I saw a lot of positive reviews on this place and i really wanted to like this place but I was disappointed. I had the mushroom swiss burger and frito pie. The frito pie was okay , the mushroom swiss burger tasted like it had no flavor like the burger wasn’t seasoned well or at all . I know other people like this place but this was just my opinion. I think they have potental but could use some improvement

First time and last time for the reviews I’m shocked tasted like frozen pattys and so over cooked , and burgers were not made properly specifically on toppings. for what we paid disappointed ☹️ fries are very plain with no seasoning no crisp for this place being family owned and not a chain definitely a bunch of freezer items and your rings were so dry sonic does better and I feel like that’s wrong to say if it wasn’t truthful with little to no taste I was being honest the only thing I enjoyed was the bun and soda lol 😂

I had the special Bacon Gouda Burger, so delicious! 1st time at this place. It was a team outing, and no one was disappointed with the burgers we received. Cook to perfection, incredibly flavorful! Definitely recommended 👌

As an Aussie living in the US for two years now I've been trying any and all burger joints, and I can say hands down this was the best burger I've had since being here, excellent full of flavor pattie, and for once, a proper burger bun. Will definitely be coming back to try the rest of the menu and bringing my mates

I went there with hopes of trying the "HOT" burger but whimped out. Lol. I asked for just a small portion or side to taste the heat, but they are not allowed to do so. There are daily specials, so please drop by for a good tasting burger. The burger is built BIG and will fill you up. The fries come off fresh and hot and crispy. The staff is really nice and helpful in helping you understand the menu. To anyone who tries the HOT burger, please tag me to read about your experience! 😅

I went to see a band play music and hadn't been in a while was a big fan for years but the inside needs to be cleaned and sprayed for roaches the kitchen is disgusting the employees don't wash their hands ever . Chunky please clean up the place and the employees thanks you

I do have to start off by saying that the menus should definitely include prices on it because it was a little off putting seeing them blacked out. I ended up googling the restaurant and looking on Uber eats or some platform like that to see if the prices were crazy. Maybe a QR code on the menu to see prices and items would be helpful. Anyhow, to the food. It was so delicious! Probably one of the best burgers that I've had at a restaurant. The burger was so juicy in a good way and the bun was soft but grilled to perfection. We ordered fries, tots, onion rings and the garlic fries. The tots were my favorite. They were so crispy on the outside but still soft on the inside. The onion rings were a close second. Their fries were also yummy and not soggy. This place is so good. You can try the spicy challenge if you want to torture yourself and probably need a driver home. This is a cool place with some great food!

I liked my burger but didn’t realize the cheese was white on our entire order. I wasn’t offered any alternatives while ordering and the menu just says “cheese”. We got 1 double burger with bacon, 1 classic burger added cheese, 1/3 lb plain burger (no kids meal burger available), and kids meal grilled cheese. Added 2 1/2 orders of fries and 1 whole order of onion rings. 3 drinks for total of $62. The price was steep for essentially 4 meals, 1 being a kids meal. I wouldn’t recommend the sides of fries or onion rings because the heat was lost quickly and tasted plain. The server kept bringing our food spread out and last was the small plain burger oddly. They have advertised events. Bar vibe. Needs better lighting in restrooms. Indoor and outdoor seating available.

Ok. So some of what I am about to tell you comes second-hand because i didnt like the flavors on mine but my sister liked hers. My burger that I ordered from Chunky's was the 4 Horseman - said to be the hottest burger on earth. It is so hot, they give you a chuck bucket and gloves. I tried it, and I will say it lives up to it's name. It is hot. It was also, in my opinion, disgusting. I did not finish it. I am not saying they can't make a good burger... my sister got the jalapeño cheddar burger and she loved it. I think I just really didn't like the flavor of the sauce and the whole ghost peppers. I feel that sometimes when they do these heat challenges, they sacrifice flavor for heat. I am not saying I definitely would have finished it if I had liked the flavor, but I do wonder. I eat really spicy food all the time, but only if it also tastes good. They service was amazing though and my sister loved her burger. Next time, I will try something else.

First time going to CHUNKYS burger joint. A co-worked of mine RAVED about this place, as one of the best burger places in town!. So, I just ordered a regular cheese burger w/onion-rings. As I got my food, I headed back to the office EXCITED!. I opened up the foil where the burger laid, put some ketchup on one of the bun, as I bit into it, I turned it over to put MORE ketchup on the other end! BOOM, a piece of blond HAIR on my bun!. Now, the cooks in the back had ima a black bandanna, & a NYC hat…not any hair nets!. I was totally disgusted. Got back into my vehicle, & returned this discussing meal!. Received a refund, & contacted the health department as well!!!. Never will I step FOOT, into this establishment!.

If you stay away from the Burger of Death, the people are great and give great service!

My Brisket burger was phenomenal and I loved their onion rings. Service was friendly and attentive and I enjoyed the aesthetic of the place but being a taller person, sitting at the picnic tables was a bit uncomfortable. This shouldn't stop anyone from enjoying their great food.

Came here for a car show and grabbed some delicious food on our visit. Great customer service at the front counter and even was recommended and informed about the specials that day. Quick table service tien around and the food was served at the right temperature! Plenty of room even out on the patio to be comfortable and stretch out a bit. DJ was playing great music for the crowd that was there to make our experience even better. Thank you to the staff and everyone that helped us that day. We'll be back again soon to try more off the menu.

Had the cheesesteak burger. It was good, I ate maybe half or a little under half. A roach came from under the table in broad daylight 1:00pm and tried to start eating my food. Then I saw another on the wall. I was no longer hungry and now feeling sick. $14 plus tip and I can’t even drink the sweet tea either. I just left the food and notified staff of a bug problem. They grabbed my food and just wiped the table down for the next customer. So for $15.50 for a burger and sweet tea is pricy but the roaches are a dealbreaker.

We went to Chunky's with a friend who did the 4 Horsemen Challenge. I ordered a burger with no bun. My food was pretty disappointing. They used white cheddar (not a fan at all!) and I had grilled jalapenos. The jalapenos were my favorite part! The burger patty tasted like a frozen patty you'd get at the store. 😣 Not good. My friend did the 4 Horsemen Challenge. The peppers were dried and beyond hot. He said there wasn't much flavor at all. He does challenges all over San Antonio and this one kicked his butt. He tapped out. As far as the atmosphere goes, it was terrible. There were flies EVERYWHERE! It was super hot and muggy inside. AND when they cooked the peppers, the spicy smoke choked us as we waited for our food. They really should open a window. The service was great but we heard the waitress apologize to the cooks because of the 4 Horsemen order. I'm not sure if it's the toxic smoke that makes them mad about the order or just the fact that it takes extra effort. Either way, for a restaurant known for this challenge, it was very off-putting to have them complain about taking the order. We likely won't go back...until my friend is ready to burn up his insides with that burger again.

I came here on the weekend with a group of 8. As soon as I walked in the building to order I couldn’t help but notice how smoky it was inside, the inside dining area has really bad ventilation, I ordered my food and proceeded to sit outside where it could’ve been kept up better when I finally got my food I was missing a topping that I had asked for but not sure if I paid extra for. An older woman came by to check on the table and I when informed of the missing topping she stated that she would bring it out, I waited about 7 minutes but then continued to my meal, she never came back.I’m

Burger was fresh hot and delicious! Onion rings on point. Gets a bit crowded but not too bad. Only drawback is the way it is set up you order and get drinks in the same area so it can be a bit tricky and have to dodge around customers in line. Staff very friendly and courteous.

They need to update their hours . Showed up at 2pm and they are closing. This is the 2nd time I come here and they are closing early

The hours online said open til 9pm. Customers came at 2pm and got turned away even though we just got sat 10mins before them. If this place closes for break then put that on your hours instead of wasting customers time coming by during that time. Server came to my table to tell me cook dropped my food on floor before they plated it. Wasn't surprised cause they were rushing to head out already had their backpack on for their break time. Didn't get to enjoy my lunch with my table cause my food came after everyone was already done eating. First and last time coming here. I tipped good to basically get full off fries while I waited for my actual food. Chicken sandwich was bland no flavor and under cooked.

I was disappointed, several items I wanted, they didn't have. I kind of felt that I was forced to order a burger, as if that was all they had. Car club was on site, one guy doing doughnuts, causing all this burnt rubber smell, while trying to eat. Will not be coming back.

Parking was terrible, a car group was celebrating something and taking up parking. When we arrived, the transaction system was down. Immediately they informed us that various toppings were out of stock like mushrooms and the chicken fried steak was out of stock. When the food arrived, one dish was missing grilled onions and another, the Texas Kicker burger was missing queso. We informed the person delivering the food and they said, "oh yeah, we were out of queso" then walked away. Another worker walked by and asked how we were doing. We informed her that we were missing items and she said she would bring out grilled onions and cheese. She never returned. While we were eating, someone from the car group started doing doughnuts in front of the restaurant. TL;DR service was bad, food was not as ordered and the environment is not family friendly.

Just went in today I had placed a order over the phone. I ordered a guacamole burger with cheese and a half onion rings they over charge me. I called back because it didn't seem right and they told me no it was right. I didn't the math it was supposed to be $14.26 but I got charged $ 16 something. I wasn't giving my Receipt. Very disappointed

If you’ve got a BMT graduate who needs a REAL GOOD burger from some REAL GOOD folks, this is your place. Super friendly service and really good food. We had a very enjoyable experience and will definitely recommend.

Came to try this place out, walked in with my husband and was handed a menu and told to sit down that they would take our order.. sat there for 15 minutes as employees just walked passed us offering no drinks or to take our order we just got up and left! They obviously don't like to serve our kind, so now we are at dairy queen enjoying our burgers

Food first came out with jalapeños which was no where in our order. Tomatoes and onion was largely cut to where couldn't even bite down. It was warm inside we were sweating while eating so not sure if they were trying to conserve energy. Friendly service, cashier took care of the order so that it was made right.

While we were eating, we ranted and raved at how good the food was. I even said it is the best burger I have had in some time. But they really need to do something about the flys. We spent the entire time waving 1 arm about chooing flys away. But then, as I was leaving, I went inside to get a straw and saw roaches crawling around. Glancing into the kitchen, I saw the cook wipe his face and then start cooking again without washing hands. I will never go back.

We have eaten here many times and have always enjoyed it. We were raving about the burgers to friends and took them there last night. It was not good. My burger was lukewarm at best and the bun was not even warm. The fries tasted like they had been cooked hours before and had sat in a warmer. They were soggy, barely warm, and tasteless. I felt horrible for suggesting we go there. Our friends said they wouldn’t go back. It was an unfortunate experience.

Relaxed atmosphere. Nice sitting area outdoors and the service was fantastic. Hamburgers are amazing and if you dare to try their hottest hamburger you will be required to sign a waiver. It is 🔥 !!!

Was out her3 for bike night. It was pretty good, nice and fresh. It's so good that we got food there the very next day. This time, it wasn't as good. I believe the moisture from the to go boxes and foil ruined it. The buns were soggy. The breading from the fried mushrooms was soggy.

I love coming here I come easily once a week. The burgers are great and the wings aren’t on the menu online but I usually go for that they’re really good for not being a big sell on the menu.

This place is very out dated and dirty. The cooks do not wear gloves or hair nets. The proper sanitation of running a kitchen needs to be informed and I will complain to the health services the turkey burger made me sick and the teju burger made my wife sick. This use to be a good neighborhood place when I was a kid being from the neighborhood clean this nasty place up would not recommend this place

Ordered food for pick up. Was ready by the time I got there. Burger was a good medium , so if you like it more well done, let them know. Fries are okay no seasoning. Kids meal comes with a drink so that was a nice surprise when I had thought it was just the side included for it. Mozzarella sticks were good. Had a good drive home after picking up order but I'm sure if they were fresh to eat the Mozzarella sticks would have been really good. Loved that they even had tap pay, and Pepsi Zero

Coming from out of town had a great time here. I was astonished with the hospitality. Austin at the register definitely provided great customer service and energy. 10/10 would highly recommend.

Eventhough the place is nice and the food is out of bounds, tue burgers Any burger tastes and its awsome. Only downside is that tjey need a bigger or stronger exhaust fan, because if you eat inside, you will be smoked and come out smelling grease...but other than that my hats off to them..

I love this place. I've eaten here once before about 15 years ago, and I still remember it. That's how good they are. Burger lover here, so I'm a snob to good burgers. Hands down, this place is in my top 3 places to eat burgers in Texas. The waitstaff seem friendly and I love the little atmosphere. Couldn't recommend this place enough.

Today was our first time dining here. The staff is very friendly, welcoming and courteous. They let us know about specials going on, and the prices are reasonable. The food is delicious!!! We tried the regular cheeseburgers, guacamole burger with a side of bacon, and the Big Chunk. So good!!! We will be coming back for sure.

The food was good so 1 star for thar. The customers service was OK one star for that. What really make me upset is that apparently they have a bikers only parking but no signage, no employee notifying anyone where to park and they threatened to tow our car for parking in this area when there was no wat fo us to know. Excuse me they had orange traffic cones that you could easily drive through. So one star for giving us notice before towing our car. This experience is easy fixes BUY SIGNS IF YOU WANT CUSTOMERS TO PARK SOMEWHERE SPECIFIC!

Great burgers, but beware of the four horsemen burger!!! We tried it and they are not exaggerating when they say it is insanely hot. In fact, it’s not just the heat that gets you, the oil is very hard to get off your hands, even after washing them a dozen or more times! The burger also makes your stomach burn for several hours after you eat it.

The person that took our order was awesome!!! He welcome us as soon as we came in. He had welcoming smile. Very conversational and remarkable customer service. After we got our meal, the service continued. Another employee (young lady) came by and asked us if we were doing okay. If we needed anything else. Thank you for making our dinner after work, amazing.
