Chung Ying in Wyre Forest

Ordered a take away for the first time. Although food took over an hour for delivery, what we received was delicious and good quality. After reading recent reviewed after we had ordered I was a little skeptical but the food was lovely. Would use again.

Cash only now, says it all really… give it a miss, only my opinion but much better on offer elsewhere 🤗

Walked in as I wanted to take my two kids for a dining-in chinese meal and was greeted by a run down restaurant, dimly lit and full of teenagers lounging over the chairs and sitting on bikes, it clearly just a doss house now. I was told by one of them that's its takeout and cash only now. Would not recommend!

In fact, it turned out to be a happy accident that led us to discover a new favorite! And now, dear readers, we must quote the illustrious Jack Karlson: “A succulent Chinese meal!” Indeed, every meal at Chung Ying is the epitome of succulent, a glorious feast that leaves you utterly satisfied yet eagerly planning your next visit before you’ve even left your seat. In conclusion, if you haven’t yet experienced the sheer culinary bliss that is Chung Ying, then you, my friend, are missing out on one of life’s greatest pleasures. The greatest place I’ve ever dined

As I exited my mode of transportation, I could smell the food. I had to intervene before my nose and mouth combined formed a coup over my body. I ran into the building and ate, it was amazing.

Like previous reviewers, we have used Chung Ying probably over decades by now. The food has always top-notch. We ordered our usual meals tonight with anticipation of delightfully prepared food. Instead, what we got was just about uneatable and disgraceful. I ordered my usual succulent Duck in Orange sauce and received greasy pieces of duck with no sign at all of orange sauce at all, egg fried rice with just a hint of egg. We had to make our own orange sauce in order to attempt to eat it, but even so, the meal was totally uneatable. To add to the misery, when the driver delivered the so-called meal, he had on his list that we hadn't paid despite paying online when we ordered. He didn't believe me when I assured him that we had. Phoning Chung Ying to give feedback was just met with clearly insincere apologies and mutterings of a new chef and problems with the on-line ordering system. So sad to see a once amazing service fall to the wayside so pitifully and dramatically. Time to look for a new Chinese take away, me thinks. My advice is to steer clear from Chung Ying; the once king of Chinese food locally is no more. Even as I write this, I shudder at the thought of the disgusting service and food we received and hope that our stomachs will forgive us for trying to eat the uneatable. What a shame.

Great place to eat very nice staff

So disappointed, I have used this Chinese for the last 2 years always been superb. You've changed your chef and now the food is absolutely disgusting. Not only that the staff you have on the phones and front of house are very childish and unprofessional stood laughing. All In all the problem seems to be the staff. So devastated it's gone so down hill 🙄 speaking to the manager isn't going to change the fact that staff is the issue. The manager isn't going to sack everyone.

Used this Chinese for years but they have recently change their chef and the food isn’t great. Really poor quality. What a shame.

Takeaway. Late delivery cold, absolutely inedible. Went in bin spoilt meal kids were looking forward to, waste of £35.00 would definitely not recommend. Not one thing was nice .

Used chung ying quite a few times meals have been OK. This time absolutely disgusting. Ordered pork curry and sweet and sour pork Hong Kong style wasn't like it said on the menu . When I phone about it and the young lady was speaking to someone else about it all I heard was them laughing over it customer service was bad well never use this place again

Unbelievable, maybe because it was a Sunday evening but no one else in the restaurant. Shy waitress who barely took care of me and who was apparently only there to take takeaway orders. A lady from the kitchens came and completely ignored me. Fortunately there were fish in the aquarium to have a little social connection. That said, when it comes to cooking, I ate very well.

Ordered a takeaway never been there before it was very dark and unwelcoming but I hoped the food would be good it wasn't chicken in my curry was awful kindle of rubbery and didn't taste good we also had chips they had been around a long time and tasted stale my husband's beef curry was okay but below par safe to say we won't be going back.

We did eat in but had a takeaway which was superb. Excellent service when delivered.

First time of ordering from Chung Ying .. absolutely superb . So much delicious food.. Will definitely be using this superb restaurant, easy to order and such a friendly delivery service .. definitely worth a lot more stars if I could .

Ordered a take away online, said 45 minutes, nearly 2 hours later rang, several excuses 1st out with driver, 2nd can’t find your order, 3rd, will cook it now, will be another 30 minutes! We cancelled

Booked a table and it was freezing in the dining area. We rushed our food and left asap. Food ok staff helpful but stupidly cold inside. Appearing im told it’s always cold in there. Only go in the summer !

This is the worse king prawn chew mein I have ever tasted. We always use Lucky Star but they were closed this evening.please do not order from Chung Ying I phoned to say it is just a plate of noodles and the lady responded with there is nothing I can do sorry!!!! What a waste of money ended up in the bin Would give zero if I could

Food was nice, had Cury and egg fried rice and Cantonese king prawn with boiled rice, all good! Service was quick too.

We've always been to another Chinese takeaway further up the road but don't bother, Chung Ying is fantastic, the food is top quality, I had beef in ginger and spring onions, there was plenty of ginger which I love, I also had a portion of salt and chilli chips which were so good. If you want a really good Chinese takeaway then you don't need to go anywhere else. Hot tasty food, it was handed over in the time the girl said on the phone, cracking value for money.

Use the delivery service … great food but timely delivery is a real issue . Croat quoted 40 -60 mins its now 2 hours since ordering and still no sign of our dinner

Disappointed, I use to order all the time from here infact most nights, i spent alot of money with them but just lately literally they always say they are not taking orders at the moment, clearly you guys are too busy in the restaurant, you need to concentrate on that instead of home delivery, your food is good but home delivery not working! I've since found another restaurant instead.

Popped in this evening on our way home from our holiday. They’d closed the restaurant as it was really late but they let us eat in as we had nowhere to eat a takeaway. The food was delicious, service was brilliant and it was possibly the nicest Chinese we’ve ever had! We live 100 miles away, shame it’s not local to us as we would definitely be regulars.

The food was delicious, especially the chicken satay skewers and the pork and mushroom dish. Staff were attentive and very friendly.

I used to come here as a kid with my family, also as a young adult, I went here last night for the first time in years, the waitress was lovely and the food was nice. My only criticism is that the restaurant is very tired looking, it looks very scruffy. It may put people off, and that would be ashame. Even though the food and the service was good, I wouldn't eat there again purely because of the surroundings, it did not make for an enjoyable experience.

First time ordering, went into restaurant for take out, lovley quirky little restaurant with great takeaway service, as we waited for our order, place has regular customer as they are known by name, so thought this must be a good place, got the food back home and it definitely was ! 1. The restaurant was absolutely freezing the food was dreadful the chicken was way overcooked very chewy. Service was okay but other than that would not recommend. The drinks were poured out of cans and bottles and charged stupid amounts. Wouldn’t recommend sitting in. Place was a disgrace

Ordered a meal to be delivered. Told it would be 45 minutes. 2 hours later still hadn’t turned up. Rand a few times and we’re told “it’s on it’s way “ ever time.

Came in for my birthday tonight and had the b 2 person meal with my husband. Omg is was amazing and plenty to eat. We had to take the rest home. Compliments to the chef/chefs. Also waiting staff were very polite and helpful. Will definitely be back soon.

Tried for ages to order a take away phone permanently engaged even though Tuesday night. Waste of time why bother with a web site .3 mins I can understand but 20 mins means they don’t care

Disappointing, food was cold by time of arrival, arrived over an hour after given time slot staff extremely rude after just calling to say food hasn't arrived have we been forgotten, i get its busy. no apologise just instant attitude. Delivery driver pretty much threw it at us. After the positive reviews i was left very unhappy.

when we entered the premises all the lights in the restaurant were off.They employ 2 young people who didnt havea clue what they were doing,we had to request everything fom plates,cutlery and napkins.They didnt know what Gin was and they stood behind the counter giggling not attending to us paying customers.We were the only ones in there and i can undertand why.I recommend a takeaway from here but not tosit in

Delicious vegetarian/vegan options! Love the sweet and sour mock duck, mushroom curry, and many other things. Haven’t ate inside the actual restaurant yet but the deliveries are really good and pretty quick.

I wish they would bring back the old recipe curry. We used this place for 20 years back in the day great food and service mainly had takeaway. Shame were its gone.

Won't be using this Chinese ever again used to be one of my favorites, however there food as gone really down hill and last night I finally got my Chinese at 10pm and my order was wrong, I didn't call back till today as I would of had to of waited another hour for my food but they didn't want to help with refund or even offer anything to us and we've been using these for a while now. Happily spend my money else where

I really wanted to have a good experience as not been here for some time. Luke warm food . Ok but not great. No atmosphere and felt awkward in there. They really need a front of house to greet and make you feel welcome. Ask if everyone ok. Ensure cutlery there and do you want anything else etc. the place is dated. Carpets tired. Toilets not great. It’s a shame but I cannot recommend it

Well, ordered £30 of food from a place I’ve used loads. Waited 80 mins to then get a call saying I was outside. Told the delivery driver that he wasn’t. Gave him some directions to get to where I actually lived. He told me ‘don’t be arsy’ I wasn’t being arsy and in the end he took the food back. Normally great food but totally awful service from a driver who couldn’t find the right address and was rude. We went to fortune court instead.

Severely undercooked, ribs, chicken, chips, rice. Sauces runny. Do not recommend.

I would not even give this a 1 star startes was greasy curry was not good at all noodles was horrible rice was hard the manger I spoke to refused to let my wife bring anything home still charged us full price even though we left all of it not worth the money at all the manger had an aporling attitude would not recomend at all ovoid at all costs.

First time I’ve been here but will DEFINITELY be back! Although I only ordered takeout (on the premises and not ore-ordered), the front of staff were exceptional and the timely arrival of my food was great. Following that, the food was absolutely fantastic, so tasty and leaving me wanting more, more, more! And NOT from small portions by any stretch of the imagination, purely on how utterly delicious it was!!! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. As for the review comment on the restaurant needs updating, with food this good, who needs a new carpet ten out of five for me … and I’m ‘Karen’ ❤️

What a crap restaurant. No one there on a Saturday night, still crap service. Two broken chairs at our table, food took forever and overpriced. Had all the atmosphere of a morgue.

Dont go here we had a member of our party who has various intolerances and we were told they could not offer anything so we opted for a plain grilled steak so we asked if there could be a side salad with it but were told they dont do salad even though 2 of us had ordered yuk sung which is with lettuce!!. In the end the so called chef said he couldnt offer anything so i paid for the drinks and left. what a complete shambles they are useless.Steer clear no wonder it was empty.

Went to this restaurant due to visiting the area very nice people and the food was great at good prices we opted to just order from the normal menu but they do a buffet type munu for around £15 each depending on the day tables was spaced out well. Only thing I would say is it does need a refurb.

Very bad experience left after starters due to poor service

The food is good. And the service and delivery time is good. But the app is turd. It will take you to ordered before you’ve even had chance to put in your payment method. Therefore it leaves us again looking round to see how much cash we’ve got. Cheap app but food and delivery is excellent. We’ve ordered from here three times and twice it’s just ordered before we’ve even been offered a payment method.

They lost us as a customer tonight, all the meals tasted dried out and greasy as a result of food being reheated /refried/microwaved. Zero flavours, egg fried rice has no egg, burnt chicken balls with really dry chicken inside.We chucked ours in the bin and cooked from home it was that bad.Wont be ordering again.

Popped in on the off chance this evening and fancied a little bit of different things too try so we had the “all you can eat special menu” and it was fantastic! Food was served quickly, piping hot and simply delicious. Our starters mains and three drinks were just under £40! Staff were lovely and great with allergies would defiantly recommend too everyone

Chose this place for a takeaway for delivery as had an app and had good reviews, we were not disappointed at all, easy to order on app, quick delivery and the food was gorgeous, also good portions, we will definitely use this as our main Chinese from now on

Service very slow, the girls are clearly inexperienced and need more training! They got our drinks order wrong and we waited about 15 minutes for our drinks they even forgot about one persons drink we had to get up and ask for it, and still waited 5 minutes after we asked. When the food arrived there was 1 meal missing and some of us had already finished our meal before it had arrived, we had no apology, the girls were just miserable, this is no way a waitress should be.

Looking for a takeaway open on Tuesday evening and found Chung Ying was open although we had never eaten there before. Placed a large takeaway order for 12 people which took longer than expected but all the food was still really hot by the time we got it home. All the dishes we ordered were lovely and everyone commented that it was one of the nicest Chinese meals they had had for a while.

Bit of a mixed experience; we ordered several dishes for delivery, and the service was good. The beef in black bean sauce and chicken with mushrooms were really tasty, but the chicken balls were very greasy, and the sweet and sour sauce didn't taste nice.

the tastiest chinese. All freshly cooked to order with very friendly staff. Decor is a little tired but that is reflected in the reasonable price. A little gem.....Shhhh its our secret!

Came here needing somewhere to eat . There was no one in the restaurant and it all looks a bit tired. The young girls where obviously inexperienced but we’re friendly enough and tried their best. We went for the all you can eat menu at £16.99 great value and loads of it . The quality of the food was good . Shame it was so empty . Needs a bit of tlc surprised it was so empty .

We’ve used this restaurant for years. After a change of proprietor a couple of years ago people didn’t rate it as highly. I can honestly say that the food is consistently excellent - best in the area and we wouldn’t go anywhere else. Great for deliveries...timely and reliable.

First had a meal here as a young teenager with a girlfriend many years ago in the early 80's. I believe the place opened back in the 60's Have been living away for 20 years and happy to report that the food now is as good as back then. Under new management now (2019) and have had some mixed reports.

Surprisingly large and comfortable upstairs resturant with access by the side of a fish and chip shop. A wide menu with a strong Thia theme, good ingredients and well prepared. Friendly, cheerful service.

Ordered food on just eat . Waited and thought will just checkbphone for delivery as about 20 mins away from being delivered only to find Chung yin had cancelled my order without ringing me. Well done. You've lost a customer that was trying you for the first time. It's polite to ring people when cancelling. I went to four seasons afterwards who's food was spot on. And 15 mins early delivering . Thanks for nothing.

Food is okay, nothing special - but not worth £17/pp. Shocked to see some items were not inclusive and incurred in a surcharge - makes more sense to just not have them in the menu. The service was the worst part of the restaurant. The girl seems nice, but too busy chatting and on her phone to serve. Really long waiting time to get her to notice us, ended up just going to her instead. Lack of knowledge on the dishes as well. The experience could have been saved if she was better at her job.

Food was nicely cooked and tasty. Prices about average. Plates could be warmer. We will go back. Good experience.

This place has gone down the pan big time!It was great when Tony had it but now it's a dump with Teenagers front of desk. The pork, if you can call it that was undercooked and the curry sauce was congealed after a couple of minutes, not to mention the practically raw onions and foul tasting peas, i hate to see the kitchen.I will not use this place again whilst the current owners are in place.I will say that the young girls on the front was the best thing about this place, very polite, but if i were them I'd be looking for another job!

Food good, but restaurant needs updating

This has been one of the best restaurants in Kidderminster for the last 20+ years. Got a take away from there last night and things seem to have gone downhill rapidly. I’ve rated this average as now just in a par with the numerous other takeaways in Kidderminster - it used to be a cut above.

After waiting over 90 minutes for our starters we decided to leave as my son was falling asleep, the children behind the counter then tried to charge us £53 for 3 all you can eat buffets. I'm completely gob smacked at this place it should be shut down. The couple on the table next to us had been going there for 40 yrs plus and they even said they won't be going back.
