Very disappointed in the batter, had been sitting a while, soft and chewy, not crispy like it should be. Fish was dry. Won't be using this place again.

Cod and chips ordered. Was told it would be 10 mins. Half an hour later it finally turned up. I could have gone to the beach and caught one quicker! Got it home and found it dripping in oil. Only saving grace was that, after drying it on two sheets of kitchen roll, the taste was nice. Also ordered a pie for another family member. This was dry inside and looked like it had been in the cabinet for several hours. Not great from a shop that used to be consistently good.

Friendly service, great fish, good chips, chicken and beef burgers tasty, decent prices. Nothing to fault really, no wonder it's so popular.

Excellent fish and chips from Chris' again, they know how to look after their customers. The Cod was light and fluffy and tasted great, their Cheeseburgers are the best in Tiptree and the kids loved the Savaloy and Battered Sausage.

Pop in for X large cod & chips, this was ok but the size of the fish was about the of med at other fish shops, I feel this was poor value at £10.10, after eating I was still hungry, I am not a big eater but this did not fill me up.

Highly recommend gluten free night on a tuesday! Had cod and chips and mushy peas. Felt like such a treat. We also got some nuggets, battered sausage and chips (not gluten free!) - everyone was happy with what they got!

I have lived in TIPTREE for 20 odd years and only went to this fish shop once and never liked their food, but we went on the off chance on the 9th August 2019 and the fish and chips were excellent, as new people have taken over, so would highly recommend it.

Good fish and chips is not as easy as people think. There are a few variables: The chips have to be good. These were. Just the right degree of caramelisation. No soggyness, but enough "give" to be just right. The fish has to be fresh. This fish was fresh. The batter has to have a crunch, a tinge of bitterness, but be light enough not leave your stomach feeling under pressure. Again, full marks. It was all served with a smile. So 5/5.

The few times we have used this fish bar, it had always been good. Staff friendly. Although we don't need it, I was impressed to see they do gluten-free batter.

Great fish and chips friendly staff and happy to grill fish if you call ahead. Mushy peas lovely too and good selection of meals.

Ordered 4 large fish and 3 medium chips with mushy peas. I’m a northerner so have high standards for a fish supper and mushy peas but this was great. Mushy peas like they do them in Lancashire and not too salty and the fish is gorgeous. Generous portions and not a bad price. Would definitely recommend!

Service good and quick great selection of food and soft drinks good value for money . This is not a restaurant but a good old type take away fish and chip shop. Always busy used by locals and people from outside the village

Qué delicia encontrar sirven sin gluten pescado maltratado los martes! Que fue una gran bendición para un grupo exigente con diversas necesidades dietéticas. Nos fuimos a la orden de nuestra comida - la tienda estaba impecablemente limpio, y tenía lugares para sentarse y esperar a que la comida esté lista. Los dos estaban en el mostrador folk muy concurrido, pero muy amable y servicial, cuidadosamente etiquetado cada uno de nuestros artículos para prevenir mixups- muy importante al tratar con celiacs. Una enorme caja de pescado, patatas fritas, un surtido buttie, huevos, cebollas en escabeche y otros tales yummies rápidamente lleno por la servicial, detrás del mostrador. El precio parecía asombrosamente bajas para este ciudadano estadounidense. Todo estaba aún caliente, pero fresco cuando llegamos a casa y las hordas ravening descendiente en el papel envueltos en paquetes. Silenciada, con entusiasmo reinó en los de placer. El pescado estaba muy bien preparado, la luz mejor, fresco, sabroso y crujiente, las patatas fritas en la propia celebró su sabor, con un juego meltingly crujiente cielo siendo creado en el chip butty. Toda la familia nos dieron de comer juntos esa noche, y disfrutamos de una fresca antigua de Inglaterra platos nacionales en su mejor!

No he estado aquí por un tiempo, ya he cambiado mi estilo de comer, pero fue siempre un muy buen pescado y chips, y que lo hizo especialmente atractivo para mí fue que no gluten pescado y patatas fritas en un gratis martes entre 5 y 8 pm! Realmente ganas de pensar! Pude realizar mi pedido a las 6 de la tarde y recoger en mi camino a casa de mi clase de yoga a las 8 de la tarde! Perfecto, pero ya no come pescado y patatas fritas, así que no usamos este servicio por un tiempo!

Estoy recuperando de gripe bicho y me apetecía un buen trozo de bacalao. Esta fue la pieza bien más horrible de pescado que he encontrado, estaba tan seca creo que había sido reciclado muchas veces. Terminó en la papelera, no es bueno para mi apetito. Gracias a Chris. Todavía hambre.

Ordered over the phone last night, 2 large skinless cod, battered burger, large battered sausage plus 2 large chips, 10 minutes later all done, great food & great portion sizes. Will definitely recommend Chris's to everyone 😀

Came down to visit mum from Suffolk and opted for fish n chip tea. I have to say it was very nice and freshly cooked.

They have an excellent choice of fish etc, and very well cooked. Worth going out of your way to buy their fish and chips, you will not be disapointed.

Ordered 50 fish and chips and 15 chicken and chips for a birthday party near Chris's Fish Bar in Tiptoe. The order was delivered hot and the food was absolutely delicious. All our guests loved it. Would thoroughly recommend this Fish Bar to anyone having a party in the Tiptree area.

My cousin and I bought supper from here - cod and chips each. Fish lovely and fresh and well cooked. Chips the same and nothing was greasy. Delicious.

Fish and chips are always good here with quick service. No seating inside. Only downside is they often don't have medium size fish. They also cater for parties.

We placed a large order on Thursday night for our Charity Quiz Evening and Chris's Fish Bar were fab! They delivered our food to us on time, the food was still warm and very tasty and they even threw in salt and a bottle of vinegar for us! They were so happy to help and we will definitely be using them again. Thank you guys!

If we want fish and chips, we drive to Tiptree from our village as the food is fresh and hot and the chips aren't soggy! The normal range of food is available and the staff are friendly too.

I almost always get my family's fried Fish meals at Chris's Fish Bar. The fish is fresh and meaty. On Tuesday evening one can get Gluten Free Fish and Chips, which is great for those that truly have the need for Gluten Free, as one of my daughter's does. It is a real treat for her when she visits on occasionalTuesday's. The batter and chips are delicious.

Always good quality with tasty haddock and above standard chips. Short waiting times if choice of fish unavailable. Only downer is the idiotic parking by lazy customers who have no concept double yellow lines are there for a purpose.

Went here with my husband and mum on a Friday night. Staff were friendly, we were served promptly and the food came out in a good amount of time.The food was delicious and the portions were a great size. My mum and husband had the cod and they said it was cooked very well and tasted fresh. I went for a battered sausage and was pleasantly surprised at how non-greasy the batter was. The chips were lovely, also not greasy and the curry sauce was spot on!Prices were reasonable...more than they were 10 years ago (probably the last time I went into a chip shop!) but that's inflation for you! Will definitely be back!

Friday night dinner with lots of choice. Brilliant service. Had to take my chicken burger back as when i got home there was mayonnaise in it!! They apologised with no bother and replaced it.

Heard good things from friends about chris' fish bar so took the plunge and visited on a wet cold night.Greeted with a smile and warm welcome made me feel special instantly, the variety on offer is superb. I went for haddock and chips, wife chose southern fried chicken and chips. Both were far superior to chain pubs and other establishments we have tried in the tiptree area. Haddock was simply amazing quality, so delicate and sweet. Chicken coating was miles better than the colonels and perfectly cooked and moist.chips were proper chips, doused in salt and vinegar took me on a nostalgic trip to my childhood.All in all a great meal, would return and will spread the word.

I have lived in Tiptree for 6 months and love the food in this takeaway..great quality and delicious. Best by far. The owner and staff are always welcoming I would recommend it to all.

Amazing food, so much to choose from and the staff are fantastic. You can't go wrong! And Chris the owner is lovely. The fish and chips are so tasty and huge portions! They hire local kids to work there all past and present say it was/is a great time for them. Like a family. Family, friends and great food. You can't beat that
