The quality of the food is always good. The staff are friendly and very efficient. They are always pleasant.

It's probably the best fish and chips I've ever had.

Just been here my food was stone chicken was dry the chips was stone cold what a waste of money went in the bin won’t be going back there again

Rude staff!!! Awful experience I was absolutely shocked and disgusted on how I was treated by a member of staff a little girl, rudely telling me I needed to speak clearly in future when ordering, when clearly she heard me and wanted to blame me, I just wanted my order and to get out, but this unprofessional little girl just wanted to argue as she obviously was having a bad week,she did not care the shop was full of customers and even Chris stood there think he was enjoying it, I eon me spoken to especially when I've done nothing wrong.this is awful even the customer who left after me said the staff were out of order to talk to me like that. By reading you lastest reviews I'm clearly not the only one to be treated like this by your Rude Staff!! Think trading standards need a call!!!

The food was prepared quickly and was really tasty. Although I only opted for a portion of chips, the large portion could easily serve a family of 4 so it was great value for money. We also tried their Christmas specials of deep fried mars bar and deep fried mince pie. I would very much recommend both (although the mars bars cinches it for me!) as a wonderful little treat!

Had small fish and chips and battered sausage and chips yesterday evening. Had to wait for the food which I didn’t mind as meant it was super fresh. Food was great, (best sausages around), portion size was perfect and the staff very friendly. Will definitely be going again!

I don’t usually write reviews but the absolutely appalling attitude from the staff here was too shocking to just ignore. The young girl who served me was so disrespectful, huffing and puffing when I simply asked for my items. Even had an eye roll off her at one point. Looking at the reviews here it’s clearly not the first time she’s behaved like this, she really needs to sort her attitude out. I am disgusted by the way I was treated during this experience, not to mention the food is overpriced for the quality and amount that you get. First and last time I’ll be going here, customer service is clearly not their forte. Maybe it’s time for them to actually take account of their negative reviews, rather than just reply to them with the exact same attitude that caused them to have a complaint in the first place.

We were so excited to hear about the new vegan menu! We just tried the vegan sausage and the chicken strips... love them both. My hubby, who does eat meat, tried them too and he said they were really nice. You might be seeing us every day!

I am not usually one to leave a bad review, however this couldn’t go unnoticed! I am appalled by the attitude of your staff!! I was served by a lady with purple hair & was disgusted at the way she conducted herself. When ordering, she was rude to me & pulled faces & once I politely stated she got my order wrong, she snapped and started to be very aggressive when handling the food. I will not be coming here again & will be telling everybody I know to avoid this place. Also, wiping your nose on your sleeve whilst making the food is very unhygienic. Disappointed is an understatement & service with a smile wouldn’t go a miss…

rude staff. Lady the purple hair needs to sort her attitude out , her service was absolutely appalling. Rolling her eyes at me, not listening to my order properly then trying to blame me saying I didn’t say it. Rude isn’t even the word, on top of that she was wiping her nose with her arm infront of my food. Will definitely not be going back here. She needs the sack asap

Why does everything have to be halal I was unaware of this, also came into your shop today the hostility behind the counter, clearly a new member of staff, u were quite sharp with her in front of me which made her look uncomfortable 😖, no surprise always on the hunt for staff.

I use this chippy very often as it's my local. The overall service of this place is brilliant and I'd highly recommend it. I normally order from the specials menu and I find the quality and quantity of the meals to be great! I often order a sausage special or a chicken meat and chips and they both are incredibly done, the portions are very good and the price is amazing - keeps me coming back again and again. Staff are always lovely and welcoming too.

I’ve been using this chip shop for years and I’m quite a fussy eater… 10/10 for these guys! Chips are always lovely and fresh, food is great here and worth every penny! Almost like a luxury takeaway in my eyes. Very clean, staff are friendly and work really hard.

There were about half a dozen people in the queue before me, but I was served in no time at all. The fish and chips were piping hot and cooked well. The shop was very clean and the staff professional and friendly. Recommended.

That owners daughter needs to be sacked immediately, her attitude is foul dirty looks as soon as you step foot in, dopey and forgets everything you say to her and when you repeat it she’s rude!, she’s the reason I will never be coming back ! Me and many others on here can agree so it’s time to take action! .

I have used Chris's for about 50 years now, from living there to calling in when I am back visiting. For me it will always be the number 1 Chippie. I have never had any issues with the service or food.

Attended Chris's fish bar for a take out, staff were lovely and friendly. Got home with the food, it was absolutely lovely and fresh which we really enjoyed. The other thing the price was very reasonable. Definitely will visit again.

Really nice chippy,one of the best local ...downside is the new policy of a minimum spend of £10 to use a debit card...not good for single people looking for a £5.50 special.

Lucas, Anna, Eleanor (I think) have gone out of their way to produce lightly battered cod for me, it's amazing. Never too much trouble, Could do with just a few more chips per portion, but wouldn't go anywhere else. 5⭐ 👏👏👏👏

Have been coming to Chris's fish bar for many, many years... lovely food never no complaints.

Chips are nice, donner meat isn't. The portions are small, a large chips from other places does a family of 5, this barely stretched for 4. The medium donner meat would fit into a tea cup. The chips were nice, I usually have Bays but their chips are just too greasy, this one has better chips but the donner meat was quite bland. Staff aren't the happiest, I know they're at work but a customer facing role means try be a bit happy. Prices are higher than others for less portions

Good quality food at a fair price

I am fairly new to the area and Chris' Fish Bar is the best chippy I have found so far. Great variety on meal deals and the chips are always fresh and hot. Lovely!

Went last night around 8oclock looked like they were getting ready to close asked for chicken kebab and donner mixed got home had been given chicken tikka which i clearly bever asked for chips were greasy the little plain chicken that i could taste was not nice to say the least went straight in the bin where it belonged. The daughters attitude whilst serving was unpleasant to say the least rushing rolling hers eyes no manners is an understatement.They dont deserve any stars at all.was considering taking the food back for a refund but couldnt be bothered with the attitude for a £7.00 refund. Used yo use this chip shop alot before lock down but stopped going due to the owners daughter's undignified attitude whilst serving no customer service skills at all but thought i would give it a try on my way home from a 12 hour shift NEVER AGAIN should have stayed away wont be giving them another chance.AVOID AT ALL COSTS

I was totally disgusted in the way I was spoken to at this fish bar, I’m 57 and was Greeted by 4 Rockweiler‘s and one poison dwarf, on Entering the shop one came from the back with a bad attitudes saying only 2 at a time, with which I wouldn’t mind that, I understand there rules, but not in the way it was said to me, I do secrets shopper, and I’m commencing that this shop to be reviewed, sorry but at my age I would of expected to be talked to in a good manner, not spoken down 2 😡😡

I’m absolutely appalled by the attitude of all staff who work here, I have travelled around 10 miles to try this chip shop as I seen on a post it was voted one of the best in Birmingham, this does not seem to be true and they must of back handed the judges who voted them the best. The quality of food, presentation and customer service in my view was below any standard required. Don’t bother wasting your time and money, go elsewhere. The government have lifted all restrictions set out in plan B meaning it is not a legal requirement to wear and face covering in that setting when we came in there was 5 members of staff behind the counter all from different households you chose to instigate a confrontation to us 3 which are all from the same household given if the restrictions by government were still in place which they wasn’t. You all need to undertake customer service training because all of your actions was very unprofessional.

Visited here this evening and was met with very abusive, confrontational staff, there was 5 staff congregating behind the counter however we was abruptly told to leave as only 2 customers was allowed in at a time due to covid yet none of the staff was social distancing or wearing a mask. I simply asked a question and was hurled abuse. After seeing inside the shop it is not somewhere I would eat as it is well below my standards. Other reviews on here confirm the staffs attitude but thought I would give it a try. How wrong was I 🤣

DO NOT EAT FROM HERE!!!!! Wouldn’t even give it one star This was a favourite with my family well not anymore. Had food from here tonight which was delivered by Deliveroo. Noticed something hard in my tooth after I’d finished which looks like a shard of copper! Not happy at all. Also no number to call to complain which doesn’t help 😡😡😡😡😡😡😡

I am disappointed how they had the nerve to pack this over done cheese and onion pasty.absolutely disgusted this was a joke! It was an online collection order when I got home to find a rock hard pasty when I took one bite. I could even tap it hard on the table and it never broke together with lesser chips than usual. Please don't risk ordering online as you get treated like this when you're not seeing what you're getting.Chris I know you read this I want an explanation!!

Owners daughter is rude and seems to look down her nose at people just like her dad not sure what their problem is. Food was mediocre at best and certainly isn’t up to standard for the attitude problem they’ve got going on in the shop. Many customers have said it if you look on their trip advisor reviews. Id suggest going elsewhere where people actually treat you decently because here IS NOT IT.

The food is very average but the staff are not very child friendly especially a young girl with bleach blond hair at the ends she looks her nose down at people. Also was moaning about my autistic child who makes spontaneous sounds being to loud. Theres a way to talk to people and that's not the way.

I have ordered from here a few times and the food as been good with massive portions. This is the best fish bar in this area i would recommend coming here...

What a awful bag of grease! ordered kebab meat n small chip and the kebab meat looked as though it was ready to walk itself rd the local park, well undercooked and totally smothered in grease. Hubbies chips were no better, again they prob just saw the fryer for a quick dip! needless to say our tea ended up in the bin, totally not fit to eat. Normally I would agree this chip shop is one of the best around the area but sadly the quality has gone down dramatically.

Nice food, reasonably priced and click and collect available through their Facebook page, so no waiting in a queue. Alternatively, you can get it delivered through Uber eats/deliveroo.

Asked for lots of hot chilli sauce and I got a sprinkle. Very disappointed.

Have been twice recently and not been impressed. Lots of waiting. Lots of staff too but doing phone orders and just eat collections. Staff-at least 4- all rushing around getting under each others feet - completing huge orders whilst customers walking in were left to queue way back to the road. Lovely food but not worth the hassle. They've taken on far too much to be able to cope. Plenty of other chippies around.

The owners daughter is beyond rude, absolute terrible attitude with the customers.. she needs to attend a customer service course. I will never be stepping foot in that chip shop ever again, food has gone down hill. I will be spending my money elsewhere. Appalling !!!

Best fish and chips, I've had in Birmingham. I've tried many and found this gem. A bit pricey, but you certainly get what you pay for. Call them the marks and sparks or Waitrose of chip shops. Excellent value.
