Friendly service and excellent food with a real plateful and cauliflower cheese as well! Would highly recommend as this is the second time we have been and it’s well worth the journey. Now has a pool table away from the eating area too!

Worst pub in Cornwall, Bad food, rude landlady. Best thing about the place - the bypass. I would advise you don't stop there.

On your arrival bring a 4WRD or tank the place is busy nowhere to park, carpark flooded, if youve got a non cornish vehicle or value over 500 quid keep driving! this roadside pub grub cavern is worth the drive by! rear garden area looks like a squat, general cleanliness poor, not family or pet friendly No service, order your drinks at the bar get what your given establishment. the roast is bland, the fish & chips frozen bland and dull, the service was poor, the food is sub standard, dated decor, poor seating, dirty tables, clearly a roadside stop, but id keep driving

We have been twice now. Excellent value, service and quality. Wedding anniversary just gone so will be popping in for lunch again. Some items have a light bite option if you're not over hungry.

We called in as we were staying at the holiday park around the corner. The staff were very friendly and they had a good selection of drink. It was very quiet when we went but it was a Monday afternoon so didn't expect it to be rammed. I can't comment on the food as we didn't eat here but it's always a good sign when the staff/owner eat their own food. The vegetable lasagne looked and smelt lovely. Would visit again

We were camping in Cornwall and this gem of a pub was amazing. Great food, massive portions and amazing staff. We were made to feel really welcome and were chatting with the locals. Sophie and Wes are fantastic hosts and go above and beyond to accommodate their customers, even helping us to order a takeout and eat it in the pub on Sunday when they had closed their kitchen. 4 of us went for lunch (family). Very good menu & not expensive, one of the very few places that have home cooked ham / gammon on the menu; this was DELICIOUS , chips were also delicious, double cooked & crispy . Service great & friendly , ample parking , have been a few times & will return . Thankyou

What a lovely place. We called in tonight for a meal, hadn’t booked, but it wasn’t a problem, they found us a table. We both opted for the lasagna and we were not disappointed! Portion size was huge (in our opinion) along with salad and a slice of garlic bread. We ordered a portion of chips between us, however, we could have managed without them! The staff were lovely, and the place was very busy! We wish we had called in sooner.

Peeps might not know this but the Chiverton Arms provides fish and chips to take away. I now go once a week. My wife has MS and can no longer get out and about so she looks forwards to her weekly taste of the 'Chippy' without having to leave home. I cycle up to the pub and nothing is too much trouble for the staff to make sure I can get this precious cargo home safe and sound and piping hot. We have had fish and chips from Landsend to John O'Groats and this is up there with the best, real Cod and Steak cut chips. Prices at the 'Chivvy Chippy' are good value and not tourist rip off either. Lovely.

We stopped here for lunch on the way back from Newquay.Cosy,welcoming pub,just how you would like your local to be.Nice friendly lady serving and a lovely little dog.Good choice of beers and cider.Good home cooked food at a reasonable price.Will definitely be back when down this way again.

We were staying close by for a long weekend and fancied a Sunday roast. We found this online and decided to book in. What a great find. Lovely atmosphere amazing food very welcoming. The roast comes in three sizes we went for the regular which was fantastic. Choice of beef, pork, or turkey all the veg etc just like home made. we were planning on a desert but couldn’t fit it in. Lovely wine and choice of ales and ciders. Highly recommend we will be coming back!!

We had our favourite Lambs liver and bacon and it was delicious. All homemade with lovely mash and vegetables. Highly recommend.

5 of us wet for a mothers day sunday lunch. The quality of the food was excellent and very well cooked. Good sized portions and didn't feel ripped off. Reasonably priced, staff friendly and nothing was too much trouble. I would definitely recommend this place and will go again.

Now that just had to be the best Sunday lunch I have eaten in a while. Had the three meast roast. Gorgeous succulent meat a yorkshire pud that was as huge and fluffy. Service was super really nice atmosphere 👌 really recommend stopping for a meal here.

We have passed this pub on numerous occasions but never eaten there until now. It serves pub food you would expect on the menu. We had scampi and chips and it was delicious. Lightly battered scampi and skinny fries with a tasty side salad. Simple food but well cooked and presented. Would definitely return.

We went here twice during our stay in Trevellas. The food was delicious. I had the Cod and chips on both visits and both times it was cooked perfectly and the portion was enough to fill even me up. Atmosphere was great. You can tell it has a place in the hearts of the locals but it manages to be welcoming to tourists too. I imagine this is not an easy task given the behaviour of some of the tourists. The service from the wait staff and the lady behind the bar (could have been the landlady) was warm and polite the entire time. A previous review on here mentioned homophobia but as a gay couple we couldn't have felt more welcomed from both staff and guests. I've been coming to the area for my whole life but for whatever reason I haven't been in here often. That will have to change

Kept on driving past this place so thought we would pop in tonight and give it a try, certainly wasn’t disappointed good quality food at a reasonable price and epic portions. Very friendly staff and a lovely local pub atmosphere. Won’t be driving past again. Keep up the good work.

Really rude staff, very rude against gay members of the community. Taking the mick out of the appearance of an individual, this individual overheard and was heartbroken, then went onto say 'how did you eat all of that' rude and disgusting behaviour, its a shame that this is the case as food was of good standard, but we won't be back.

We walked up here from st Agnes holiday park. I’m coeliac and they had gluten free san Miguel as well as cider and spirits. We stayed for a few drinks on a Sunday and got brought the best roast potatoes and gravy (was to die for) for free after the roasts had finished. We will drive the 5 hours one way just to come back for a roast. Was literally the nicest pub for a non local. We felt welcome straight away. Best pub for a hug. Thank you

Me and my boyfriend went here for a valentine's dinner and the food was so yummy and at a great price. Both of us had the mixed grill which was huge and we both left to go in a food coma 😁 Staff were really nice and friendly.

Really friendly pub that serves good food which is reasonably priced. Sunday roast was a choice of 3 meats, a vegan and a vegetarian option. The Yorkshire pudding was epic!! Puddings are huge, but the staff are happy to box up what you can’t eat to take home. The decor is…… quirky!!!

Visited a couple of times last few weeks, both times thd food and service was excellent and good value. A lot of thought has clearly gone into the pub's interior, and makes the experience of a visit all the more interesting.

Quirky, friendly with great food. Had the cottage pie (vegan) delicious and l eat meat. Veg was perfectly cooked and beautiful thick jug of gravy to go with. Everyone else enjoyed their food too - thai currys, ham egg and chips, fish/ burgers and chips....

We love to pop into this pub after work. It's quirky and individual, far superior to the chain pubs that populate the country. Well kept beers and ciders as well as a whole array of drinks plus delicious food.. What more do you need!

Why bother queuing for or getting turned away from pubs in beach locations when they are generally not as good as this one. Good selection of beers including Korev, Tribute, San Miguel, Rattlers...to name a few. Beer is well kept, lines clean and good pints...

Family and I just happened upon the Chiverton Arms whilst looking for somewhere to eat on our holiday. What an absolute gem! Fantastic homemade food, great portion sizes and friendly staff. Would definitely recommend and we will be back!

The food was um didly scrumptious, and really good value for what was served on the plate. The restuarant was kept clean and tidy and tables were cleared immediately the dinners had finished and wiped down with anti bac.

Called at 1400 and asked if they could fit us in for Sunday Roast. At 1800 we were sat at our table 3 Adults, 2 Kids and 3 dogs having the most amazing Roast. Food was excellently cooked, piping hot and plenty of it!!. Staff were amazing and friendly following all the necessary COVID rules. Felt very welcome and safe. Here on holiday but if we lived here the Chiverton Arms would definitely be a regular venue!!. Highly recommend.

We literally could not get in anywhere without booking so decided on the Chivvy as we hadn't visited in some time. To our surprise they had space. I don't know how, food was excellent. Perfect Sunday roast and great desserts. Nice and traditional. Unbelievably good value. Really beautiful decor and immaculately clean.. Really friendly and efficient staff. Deffo be seeing you as soon as the lock down is lifted.

Booked for an evening meal while staying at a local campsite- when we arrived we were greeted by a friendly staff member An shown inside an to our table - drinks were ordered an we were left to look at the menu my self ordering a sirloin which cooked to my liking An really tasty with no complaints from the rest of our tables food - there is a oneway system in place an clearly marked out - enjoyable evening thankyou would recommend the chiverton arms :)

We had visited this place on a couple of occasions for Sunday lunch We decided to visit for Sunday lunch we didn’t have to book,we got a table straightaway the staff are always very friendly the service is good but unfortunately the pub is very cold the food was very average.The tables are spaced out or sectioned off to adhere to government COVID guidelines We visit Cornwall every year we might give this pub go next year but it won’t be our first choice

Myself and a friend visited after being here for a regular lunch before and it being great. However we came for a Sunday lunch today, and the food was ridiculously underwhelming. The potatoes, Yorkshire puddings and “stuffing ball”, we feel must 100% be frozen and not fresh, potatoes underdone and anaemic looking, the stuffing ball was questionable still being extremely mushy all through with a weird metallic taste. We only received two veg, cabbage and a few carrots ( a bit stingy with the veg given the price) again, we feel could of been frozen, extremely lacking in flavour, The entire meal was bland beyond belief. The meat I had was more like ham opposed to gammon and very fatty at that. I left nearly the entire meal, and to top it off both meals arrived cold with a lashing of warm gravy on top. At no point were we asked by any of the 3-4 staff members how our food was, even after leaving most of it; therefore did not raise our issue, and paid and left. In saying all this, the lady who welcomed and seated us was extremely welcoming, friendly and bubbly, a nice greeting gave us very high hopes and started the meal to a good start, unfortunately the food and lack of customer care have significantly let them down. We sadly will not be returning, nor recommending.

Wish I could give a higher rating. It was honestly amazing. We rang up and asked what time the last orders where, and we did arrive 5 minutes after that but the lady who was working was so kind and let us eat anyway. The food was amazing the steak was cooked to perfection and the burger was so tasty!! I would 100% recommend the homemade mango and vanilla cheese, it was one of the nicest things Weve ever eaten and we eat out a lot. Wish we lived closer I would go all the time !!!

A Monday ing stop for evening dinner after a long day exploring Cornwall. Ambiance was ZERO and staff were very curt and seemed not to want to be there. Then the food arrived - Awful£15 for a House Special burger that had no taste and the consistency of straw. Onion rings were burntBacon from a budget supermarket I guess as it more fat than bacon. The Vegetable lasagne was even worse. Their advertised web menu was not available - only a very limited selectionNot a pleasant experience at all.

Going down to Hayle to see our grandson before he heads to Cardiff Uni, well pleased with the food and the seating arrangement, good to see things are working for them just hope they can stay open

Went out on the eat out to help out scheme. prices increased sweets £7.00 ripping the government and the public off. We are the ones ultimately paying for it, Booked a table we were not told that there was a time limit on how long we had the table when booking. We called at this pub whilst social distancing was in place. I have got to praise this pub for their organisation to help tackle the virus. All the staff wore visors and a member of staff welcomed you at the door and allocated you a table. There is a one way system inside which is very clearly marked. The food was good and the service friendly and quick. I liked the cut out figure of Sting with the message "don't stand so close to me".The pub has clearly taken onboard the Govt advice and with lots of tourists in the area it is a very good thing. I wish other pubs would follow this pubs example

Really cosy pub, we have visited numerous times and will continue to do so. We arrived at lunch time, and it soon filled up, lots of people in to say it was a Thursday lunch time! Favourite pub in the area and we always look forward to coming back to The Chivvy :)

Called in for a roast dinner last Sunday as my wife loves the atmosphere of this pub. There is a chap playing the piano and always a warm welcome from the staff. Both had roast beef with a selection veg . This is plated not our usual carvery but still, we finished it and at least the plates are hot the one thing I hate are cold plates

Today we went for a family lunch at the Chiverton Arms, as we have several times before. There were 8 of us. The service was friendly and efficient, and the food was excellent and plentiful. To add to the event, there was a superb pianist who really added to the cosy, relaxed atmosphere. I can wholeheartedly recommend this venue-thanks to everyone there.

While spending a week in Cornwall recently we visited here 3 times as we found it to be a great pub with a friendly vibe. Each time we had a meal which we always enjoyed. We will definitely call again should we be in the area. Big thanks to all the staff and all the best for the future.

The local overweight men who were sat at the bar talking to the dark hair London overweight bar maid crudely insulting a lady that arrived there to pay some mans bar bill was really off putting & insulting. If that lady was my relative I would be heartbroken. Put us off eating there but the barmaid with the short blonde hair was lovely to us & our dog

We enjoyed our meal here, we hadn’t booked we maybe waited around 40 mins + but that hasn’t stopped us, the lasagne was amazing, my partner had the bacon pasta bake, which he said was to die for. We really did enjoy our food. We couldn’t try pudding as we were too stuffed to even try. By far the best meal we’ve had in Cornwall altogether. The staff were friendly the atmosphere was lovely too. Definitely recommend coming here.

Had the crab here was so fresh the food was very well prepared and cooked. Staff were also very helpful and friendly brilliant place to come and eat.

Stopped in here for an evening meal as it was convenient to home, we wanted the Sunday roast, that was all that was on offer so it was fine. Service was prompt and servings were large but when the meal came most of it was at best luke warm. We sent it back to be reheated as did a table of 4 next to us. The food was “ok”, the roast potatoes, meat and Yorkshire’s were good but the veg consisted of very mushy broccoli, about a quarter of an anaemic roast parsnip, a few carrots which were fine and a bit of watery cabbage. It was a busy place and obviously popular but we won’t be back, at £9.95 a meal it just wasn’t worth it.

I recommend this restaurant because of the brilliant roasts and puddings, along with friendly staff and superb service. As well as this, the restaurant is dog friendly and a great stop off for brilliant food. I chose to have the gammon roast, which melted in the mouth. In addition, I had a Belgian salted caramel waffle topped with cream and salted caramel ice cream-it was scrumptious and sweet. In conclusion, I highly recommend this restaurant.

Apart from the locals glued to their 'bar seats' making it impossible to even reach the bar for a drink, this is an amazing place.

Went As a group of 4 adults and a baby in a pram. The staff were very accommodating finding a suitable table to sit with the pram.

Visited for a meal and the Monday night quiz night. Wonderful choice of dishes with a large selection of specials. Be warned, portion sizes are large. We all thoroughly enjoyed our meals. Then stayed for the quiz and a few drinks. A thoroughly enjoyable evening.

Just returned from a week in St.Agnes

I was in the area looking for somewhere to eat with my wife. I had a special.. Cajun chicken burger which was amazing. Worth a visit.

We visited here Wednesday night of the europa league final. Most pubs were fully booked and couldn’t cater for 17 of us.

After a heavy night, just popped in for some lunch before heading back to the midlands and we’re disappointed we didn’t find this place before hand! Staff are so lovely and welcoming, food was phenomenal & just what we needed to send us on our merry way! We will be back :)

A cozy pub with lots of stuff, not necessarily a bad thing though, Staff were helpful, but here's the thing, after pre-ordering we eventually had to go and ask for service. The chips with the pie and burger were undercooked, the accompanying veg was boiled cabbage, carrots, broccoli and tasteless. One of the group had a curry which was okay he said. A shame about the food as there is a lovely atmosphere, and the live music on the evening was very nice.

Me and my mother came for a quick half on the way home on the Christmas weekend. The place is excellent. The atmosphere was buzzing, lovely decor.

We went in as a family for Sunday lunch admittedly because the Saint Agnes Hotel was full. Fortuitously, The Saint Agnes Hotel recommended here and we weren’t disappointed. The landlady was amazing with my boys. The Sunday lunch was all I could have hoped for. Oh, and I mustn’t forget that we loved the quirky decor and the knick-knacks everywhere. We’ll definitely be back!
