Chiverton Arms in Cornwall, Isles of Scilly

Absolutely loved this place!Never been before,and I've lived locally for about 50 odd yrs!Thought I'd give it a shot after searching on G.maps,and my Nephews partner has been before,and loved it.Didnt book,which is rarrrre for me,and there was only 2 of us.Entered the bar area,which was busy-ish and 'lively',but in a good way. The lovely barmaid/owner,was very polite and welcoming,and said there was a table available,to which we ordered drinks,and made our way to the 'quieter' restaurant area.The restaurant was lovely and cosy,clean and tidy.The new owners have done an excellent refurbishment!Food was quick,hot and lovely,and inexpensive in my book,and I'm 'tight'!Lady who served us was lovely too,and even had time for a quick chat.We will be back!

What a great find, we rang this pub to see if we could have a table for 6 people for Sunday lunch with short notice and they kindly squeezed us in even though they were short staffed. The staff were friendly and welcoming and lunch was amazing, clear plates all round. Portion size was very good, plenty on the plate, and reasonably priced. I will definitely revisit and recommend to others x

We called in as we were staying at the holiday park around the corner. The staff were very friendly and they had a good selection of drink. It was very quiet when we went but it was a Monday afternoon so didn't expect it to be rammed. I can't comment on the food as we didn't eat here but it's always a good sign when the staff/owner eat their own food. The vegetable lasagne looked and smelt lovely. Would visit again

Sunday lunch with our club I think they struggled with so many of us potatoes greasy but veg was nice. Coffee machine broken apparently . Friendly staff poor girl was rushing around looked frazzled.

My husband and I with 2 friends went here dinnertime. The food was excellent. We plan to go there to try their Sunday roast quite soon. Good portions of food. Staff were friendly and nothing was too much trouble.

Went for Sunday lunch, and god, it was amazing, savoy cabbage, roast potatoes, mashed swede, carrots and peas, homemade yorkshire puds and stuffing and the beef was amazing, the staff were amazing and I'm so glad that I found this little place it was great, we're staying further away next year but the hubby said we're going to travel up the 40 mins just to have another Sunday lunch, and their prices were the cheapest in the area, I was expecting it to be packed but it wasn't it's was us and three other tables eating so it was quiet and thoroughly enjoyable. Thanks, guys, for the most amazing lunch ever, and my empty plate showed that 😂

Stumbled by accident. Have gone back. Excellent food. Big portions. Very tasty.

3.5 Stars. Didn't stay here, only ate. Had a baked potato, was £9 which is expensive but it was a large portion and the staff were lovely.

Live music was top notch. Food below standard. Wish we went somewhere else but ratings weren't so bad. Nope just nope.

Had amazing Sunday dinner and pudding,great meals and service by 2 friendly staff didn't meet chef but big thumbs up 👍 to you, just around corner from where we are staying.

The accommodation is branded The Lodges but more apt would be The Kennels as its as basic as it gets. Beware of the 48hr no-refund policy. We had to leave early and was steadfastly refused a refund for our remaining time. To be fair, the evening meal was great and the service very good and staff were friendly enough

my sister and I are staying at the campsite just across the road from the pub and after a long day at Newquay Pride we decided to treat ourselves to a meal at the pub. They serve food in evenings from 5.30 until 9pm which was a godsend as we got back around 8.30pm. We had the most lovely meal with fantastic service, all the staff are absolutely lovely. We will definitely be visiting again. ps the lasagne is to die for.

We really like The Chiverton Arms, it's a regular of ours. The ambience is cosy, the welcome is friendly and the food quality is fab.

Definitely recommend this place, the Sunday roast was delicious.

Went for a roast with my husband and got a pork and a beef, both really tender and tasty, Loads of well cooked vegetables which I love and made it great!! Food came out steaming hot but is slow down and enjoy it. Sadly had a slightly over cooked Yorkshire and potatoes were good, but never as good as home done ones hence the 4 stars… but would definitely return with friends as it is one of the better roasts we have had around Cornwall, and we’ve tried a few 😂 . Staff and wine were really lovely.

Had a family Sunday lunch. The food was excellent, the friendly service, selection of Ale and the ambulance added to a memorable occasion. The interior tastefully decorated, pianist unintrusive, outside benches provided smokers a retreat. Highly recommended

Quite simply the best roast dinner served in Cornwall

Went here for a meal with 11 others. All the meals were hot, great valve and plenty on the plates and best of all.. everyone had their meals all at the same time ... highly recommended

Visited for Sunday Roast which was really good with decent sized portions and veggie/vegan options. Friendly staff and nice atmosphere. They were very busy and definitely need to book in advance. Well worth a visit.

Cosy pub, friendly landlady, does food and drink, weekly quiz on a Monday. Has holiday accommodation available, outside seating, WiFi. Excellent service.

Good place to stop for a drink when heading into the deeper parts of Cornwall. Accommodation looks small but modern, would stop here again.

Went here for a meal and a pleasant evening. Booked by phone to reserve a table and staff were very accommodating, by letting us choose our own table. Food was very good indeed. Wide range of drinks and selection of hand-pull beers.

Stopped off here because everything was booked up. It's a lovely little pub with nice food and drink.

Great pub, but has now been almost cut off by the new A30. The council should pay them a lot of compensation in my view.

Booked a table for Sunday Roast and soooooo glad we did, the Roast was amazing, tasted fantastic, service was great and the staff very pleasant. Will defo be coming again when we visit St Agnes next year. Thanks all at The Chiverton Arms, 👌👍

Absolute gem of a find. Stayed locally for the night and it was the nearest place to eat and are we glad it was. Lovely friendly atmosphere, chatty landlady, eclectic decor (you might spot a few royals). Food was DELICIOUS. great portion size, we had: Korma - incredible, really tasty, huge portion. Everything really fresh served with sticky rice which was a nice bonus. Burger - sublime burger, nice big patty. Served with a fresh salad and the biggest proper onion rings we've ever seen!

After pre booking this restaurant for a family meal weeks in advance for 12 people We were asked to let them know in advance what MAIN meals we would be ordering , i thought this was understandable as we were 12 Then on the day we were asked how those ordering steak would like their steak cooked ??? We arrived that evening to be shown to our table with no option to order a starter as the steaks were underway We were told we should have requested them too on the email of which we were only asked for our main course requests , I will congratulate the chef as the food was top quality, But as a restaurant , its 2023 not 1923 Cornwall is a slower pace agreed Would not re visit Sorry

Great food, what more can you say? Generous portions for a reasonable price, and the Sunday Roast is most recommended.

I really can't add anything to the existing 5 star reviews other than endorsing their comments. Burger was absolutely delicious as was scampi. Excellent food, lovely landlady who was very friendly and helpful with our travels. Ideally placed just off the A30. Plenty of parking.

Doesn't look much from the outside but inside has so much character ! Staff are very welcoming and food is so reasonably priced and absolutely delicious. We've revisited this pub for the past 4 years now & each time food doesn't disappoint. Roast dinners 10/10 Steak & chips with all the trimmings 10/10. Wished it was our local !!!

Visited for lunch and sat outside as it was sunny. Our food, dressed crab and a feta salad was excellent and the service was perfect.

Oh…and The Desserts are to die for 😊😊😊😊😊 A Great Bar compliments the house with everything to choose from… And Finally… I must mention the staff Absolutely Superb❗️❗️❗️😊😊😊 It’s a 10 from me…

Staff were really helpful and welcoming, but the roast dinner was disappointing. It smelled and looked impressive and was scorching hot, so I couldn't tell how much flavour it had at first. The flavour never came through though of the gravy and most of the veggies were undercooked, so I left a lot. The roast potatoes lacked seasoning and weren't very crispy. The whitebait was very good and it was kind of the staff to do this especially for my husband but we won't be coming back after sych a poor roast. Meals out are a luxury and this was our wedding anniversary.

Stopped on a whim, with my partner. We were welcomed by I hope was the land lady, after I asked the most stupid of questions, to be answered by an even better response. Sunday lunch was A+ spot on. Small but full of fun pub. Amazing outside space to relax. There were 3 lady's singing 50's tunes WI sort of dress. Left as warm as we were welcomed Amazing little find in a world of chain pubs. If I'm ever back their way, we will be back. Thank you for making the end of our weekend perfect.

This is a lovely quaint pub. They serve excellent food and the staff are very friendly and helpful. I have visited the Chiverton Arms twice for food and have not been disappointed. You are made to feel welcome and dogs are allowed to join you but if your booking at table let them know you would like your dog to join you.
