Just had 3 small fish and chip meals. Usually amazing food but not today. We all ended up throwing half the chips away. Don't know if it was just a bad lot of potatoes but it's no excuse for sending chips out that looked if they weren't cooked fresh. Asked for well done fish and batter not that crispy tbh. Very disappointing Friday fish night. Think I'll give it a miss for a while.

Been going for years, even after months of not going its amazing to see the food quality has not changed, brilliant every time, Lydia and Neil run an amazing local business and go above and beyond. They even delivered an order on their home after closing after i ordered late by mistake.....you cannot ask for better service, a true corner stone of the community! I’m not from the area and, whilst spending the weekend in Thorne visiting family, was recommended to try the fish and chips at Chips and Things. I don’t often write reviews but WOW! The cod was so soft and obviously fresh. The batter was equally soft and delicious. It was all cooked freshly whilst we waited and the staff were welcoming and friendly. Portion size was also tops. My cod and chips really were up there with the best I’ve ever had, and I don’t say that lightly. My next visit to Thorne will now certainly incorporate a repeat visit. Thanks and Congratulations!

Used to love fish and chips here every Saturday but last few times fish been greasy and taste bit off so not been for last 2 weeks

Had one of the best fish n chips today at Moorends Chips n Things. All cooked fresh. Ps I did ask for chips well done and glad I did. Was really crispy on the outside and fluffy inside. Top notch 👌

Used this place for years. Always brilliant quality food & fair priced. The owners and staff are friendly and easy to deal with. Always found brilliant person centred service. Cannot ask for better locally owned and operated chippy. I say person centred as my 1 singular issue was a forgotten breadbun and can of pop. I rang the shop, said hi its Callum, Lydia the shop owner immediately said i know its here im so sorry the driver is fetching it straight round. What better service can you ask for!! Missing things were delivered within 3 mins, even sent an extra pop!

Don't think I have ever had a problem in all the years me and my mum have been here. The food is beaut. Definitely worth the money. Definitely recommend. Lovely family that runs it. Can't ask for a better place. They would go above and beyond for there customers. Definitely a long overdue review xx

The food itself is ok however delivery times are very long and I find the food extremely expensive especially for the area as Moorends is a very run down village, you would need a small bank Loan for a Large fish chips and peas ... they are eat in restaurant prices that you’d expect to pay in a restaurant like Murgatroyds in Leeds ... however even they are not as Expensive as this chip shop .... just so out priced for a take away chippy ... if your going to spend the kind of money you’d spend here you may as well go and have a sit down fish and chips in a lovely restaurant and pay pretty much the same with a nice tea or coffee and a round of bread and butter included as well.

Best chips around Thorne and moorends

I ordered food for myself and my family. The restaurant accepted the order and gave an estimated delivery time. Ten minutes after that time had passed I tried to call them, it took 4 attempts and 20 minutes before the phone was answered, when I was told the restaurant was extremely busy but my order was about to be sent out for delivery. It took another 25 minutes for my order to arrive by which point it was no longer hot. I waited over 2 hours in total for what turned out to be a disappointing meal. They made no attempt to contact me or keep me apprised of the delay. If they were that badly oversubscribed they should have just declined the order and saved us all a lot of frustration.

With glorious - Mini Cod and Home made Fish Cakes. With lovely chips as well, I have tried numerous Fish & Chip shops in Thorne. Chips & Things in Moorends have been the best, with friendly cheerful staff as well and you can have a laugh and a joke as well. Both myself and the wife miss our Fish and Chips, when Chips & Things are closed whilst away on holiday. Because we will not go anywhere else....

Donner was dripping wet by the time we got home. A heart attack waiting to happen. Chips were rubbish, like they were re-heated from earlier. To be fair, the wife said that the fish was OK, not great, but OK. Wish I took notice of the reviews first. Definitely won't be back... Far too greasy for me....

Ordered my tea last night the site said 45 mins.....it arrived in 20, piping hot. Despite them being 1 of 8 fast food outlets in moorends, I will only use them (apart from pizza) there food and service is second to non. Thank you

I’ve been coming to this chippy for years. Even travel 12 mile there and 12 mile back when at work as all the lads on Eggborough power station say that there the best you can get. There not wrong. As for the kebabs There the best in town too. Don’t know where this other whopper of a reviewer gets “greasy” from, as when I fancy one, the reason I order from chips and things is that they are the total opposite. Very very tasty and salad always fresh too. The Fish This is where this local chippy steps up its game. Really really tasty thick chunks of flakey white fish that’s to die for, and the chips are outstanding too. Best fish and chips round there by a country mile. You’ve tasted the rest NOW TRY THE BEST!!!

Went there with my family and all loved there meal. Very polite, the fish bites were especially loved by my daughter... if passing would defo call in again...

I've lived in moorends for 31 years and until Chips and things opened there were few takeaways here that were of a high standard and delivered on great food and great customer service. Chips and things has the best fish and chips at great prices. They have a veriety of foods on offer at both lunch and Tea time. Ive been dieting now for a year and even when my family want a takeaway i can still feel like ive indulged buy ordering fish from their healty turbo range. Fantastic quality food, great prices and friendly staff what more could we need. Xxxx

As far as chip shops go, this is one of the best in town, but, what sets them apart is their varied menu, offering really tasty kebabs, and the chicken is top notch in a wrap with salad. But the winner for me are the burgers, the Big Ash wins every time!

Having delivered to fish and chip shops all over Yorkshire. I can honestly say chips and things is one of the cleanest chip shops I ever delivered too. And having eaten there food many many times I can honestly say one of the best fish and chip shops in the county.

I'm not sure why this establishment hasn't got more reviews . It's a very busy shop and the quality is top notch . I pass no fewer than 4 other takeaways to get to this one , in fact I would pass many more if I had to . The online ordering system is extremely efficient , you get a message when the food is ready and on most occasions , as they recognise return customers your order is being wrapped as you walk through the door , they've seen you coming in .......... ... This little gem sits in the centre of Moorends. The fish & chips are first class and its clear why this is a multi award winning establishment. We have used this takeaway for over 25 years and have never in that period had any issue whatsoever. This is really great chippy and is well worth a visit. I personally drive past at least three others to get to this one.

Now I know doner kebabs are not the healthiest food in the world but if you are supposedly rated in the top 5 chip shops in Yorkshire, then you ought to know how to do a good doner meat.. Cold, flavourless, barely cooked and swimming in grease... Absolutely vile, you should be ashamed of the crap your passing off as food.... Would be a zero rating too if it was possible...

A real good chippy I have tried a lot of the menu and all has been good and tasty. A real plus for the place is that they cook almost everything fresh , although there can be a little wait for you food it's well worth it
