Chip Stop Thorne in Doncaster

Quite possibly the best fish and chips I've had in years, and I spent quite a bit of time on the Suffolk coast sampling fish and chips last summer! We've tried both the cod and the haddock and both are superb. Flaky and moist without being mushy at all. I think the haddock just tops the cod, but that's just personal preference. The chip portions are 'generous' let's say, so there's no chance of starving, whatever you order. The only thing they don't do is tartar sauce, which has become a bit of a running joke, but the corner store next door has some, so I was sorted. There's curry sauce if you're not as sophisticated as me ;) Service is always welcoming and friendly. Love this place!

The whole experience from walking in, to consuming the vast and tasty fish and chips was brilliant. The young girl, greeted us with a smile, engaged us in light hearted banter, took our order and presented it to us within ten minutes. My goodness was that fish tasty! And enough chips to feed a family for four weeks... Perhaps.

Very clean and friendly every time I visit

So I ordered a medium chips and curry sauce with 10 nuggets, loved the portion size pretty much got a large meal, tasted so good was gonna get another but I didn’t want to waste anything, so was just the right amount lovely people and very friendly, also came with a decent fork that didn’t bend or break and came with a wet wipe which was a lovely touch, very happy would most definitely eat here again 😁⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

If I could leave 0 stars I would , high prices for poor food , stone cold fishcakes that was more like a potato cake , took it back and they double fried me a new one still Luke warm , first time and last

First time eating from here, came in not long before they closed and ordered quite a bit, staff were very friendly and helpful, food was excellent and the oreo milkshake is so good, portions were perfect and we’ve ended up with leftovers, overall an excellent takeaway, very happy :)

I am ex Thorne/Moorends but now live in Burnley, the other side of the Pennines. Myself & my family travel to Thorne occasionally to visit my Dad and we Always have a Chippy Tea from Chip Stop on Miller Lane. The food is amazing, always fresh, their Battered Fish is the best I've tasted Anywhere (not just in Thorne) and their Chips are good (I am very fussy about how a Real Chippy Chip should taste and Chip Stop are the best!). I highly recommend using Chip Stop, excellent service from All the staff, fast, efficient delivery also.

Burgers Fish and chips are excellent You get what you pay for

good food but wouldn’t come here. the locals seem to be ok with the prices but i was shocked. very greedy for the small portions, which seem to get smaller every year while the price goes up. shameful

Great service and the food was even better

The place was very presentable and clean. Clear menus and pricing on sizeable TVs above the counter. We ordered haddock and chips with peas and some drinks and very reasonably priced. The fish was cooked to order and was excellent, comparable to some of the best chip shops on the coast. The staff were very helpful and attentive, even included wipes and cutlery because we were eating in our vehicle. Look forward to coming back and trying the kebabs.

We visited on Easter Sunday, we were away from home for the weekend and this was a really welcome treat! Staff were friendly and helpful and allowed us to order in advance (we had a 30 minute journey as we were out camping). When we arrived food was ready to go and hot. The packing in boxes for each fish was a nice touch and each was sealed, with sealed hand wipe too. Great touch. Food was absolutely fantastic. Some of the best fish and chips we’ve had! Well worth the 30 minute drive! Thank you so much for the great service and food. If we’re ever in the area we’ll certainly be calling in again. Thanks

Brilliant best fish n chips in area

Ordered the meal deal, 2x large fish and chips, with drinks and sauce, fantastic price for the amount of food and extras. The food itself was piping hot, the chips and fish were perfect. We've tried many other chippies around Thorne, and these guys are easily the best.

CHIP STOP THORNE 6.30pm. Ordered a chicken kebab and garlic mushrooms for me and sahara to share. It was cold the bread snapped and the kebab was not worth the £10.80 itself. I rang up and they said do you want a re-order or a refund. I said well we are hungry re-order please. Then they sent someone out so im stood at the doorstep in the cold while they took picures of my plate. Embarrassing or what! Who does that. So now it gets to 8 and I call asking where the food is. The owner said youre not getting any because you ate some of the food. My daughter ate part of hers because it wasnt hot. I said well i want a refund, im a single parent . They just ignored me and hung up. I called back and said i will tie your phonelines up until i get my refund. They said block her. So me being me, jumped in the car and went to the shop and sat there. I said im not moving till you refund me. 10 years I lived in Turkey and never once was treated in such a disgusting way. So after a massive arguement I got my refund. CHIP STOP THORNE 0% FOR CUSTOMER SERVICE

The best fish and chips ever! First visit and the place is so nice and clean, which is good start. The large haddock was cooked to order and the batter was incredible, so light, fluffy and crunchy and the fish was a good chunk too. I had a mixed (chicken and lamb shish kebab and again the meat was cooked to order, with a nice charged sear. Both meats were tender and tasty. Price was a little on the expensive side but the food justified the price paid. These guys know what they are doing and they clearly care very much about their products. Definitely going back again!

Haven't had a bad meal yet, I've tried quite a few things now and all of it has been great. Quick delivery, the delivery lady is lovely, always happy, smiling, having a laugh. Any issues and they deal with it very very quickly. Foods always red hot. Can't fault this place at all!

I always order from here, it’s always on time, good quality, and the woman who brings it is a delight everytime, I order the kings pizza burger which is a hearty, well made meal that is always hot and perfect.

Edited to add - Ordered food today on a bank holiday Monday, arrived super fast, there was a slight mistake, contacted via Facebook and was immediately called via phone and assured it would be rectified and 10 minutes later it was! Super customer service! Much appreciated!

Used to order from here all the time, food used to be lovely and reasonably priced but the prices are now ridiculous, in some cases a couple quid more per item than other places and the quality seemed to go down hill with the pizzas too.

We have not long moved to Thorne and have tried other takeaway places in the town but none of them matched up the the amazing food from the chip stop, the kebabs are the best we have had its always freshly made and delicious. I have tried a few items from the menu and they have always been good quality and hot on delivery.
