Cooked to order, always friendly staff..

Well after not being in Dawlish for 25yrs we stumbled on this chip shop and I can see why their ratings are so good. We ordered 3 meals and each one of us absolutely enjoyed, all 3 fish were nicely lightly battered and tasted fantastic. When we visit down here again it will definitely be on our stops and recommend to friends and family.

Wanted to visit fish & chips in this town. The one near the beach had not the best reviews here on Trip advisor. This one did so walked a little further back into town. Worth the walk. Fresh cooked nice fish & chips. Could not sit inside but weather was fine and a park with nice benches suited fine. Great food. Would recommend.

Lovely friendly service with a wide choice on the menu. Food cooked to a high standard. Fish always very fresh and has light crispy batter and big white flakes of fish. Something I have noticed it's never greasy like it is at home. Also you can opt for a smaller piece of fish so great for children or those that don't eat that much . Prices very reasonable to.

Hubby had a beautiful medium cod and chips Saturday night, absolutely huge piece of cod for a medium, even their small cod that one of my sons had was bigger than the so called large cod we had from a certain chippy in Dawlish "Warren" a few weeks back. My other son and I had jumbo battered sausage and chips each and they were absolutely lovely. Curry sauce and mushy peas were lovely, all cooked fresh and all served with a smile and a friendly chat . Highly recommended traditional chippy that cares about its customers and its food and is very reasonably priced in the current climate. Yes it's usually busy at weekends but well worth the wait for the quality of food they serve. See you again soon.

Great food, would have to go a long way to find better.

Good fish and chips, only downside some times the fish is cooked while to wet whic doesnt flake the fish, and other times a small cod is non existent just batter.

A very enjoyable fish and chips for me and the children.

4 of us had takeaway before going to local theatre. 3 of us had the haddock and chips, and 1 had the small cod and chips. The portions were generous, in fact the haddock had to be cut to fit into the takeaway carton. We were all pleased with the food. The restaurant was closed but we weren't going to use it anyway. It is away from the main holidaymaker area and therefore seems to cater for the locals trade.

Food: I think we just got a bad batch of chips because we were not locals or old chips stuck in the fryer.. they were bad😔. The main disappointing thing is that they were inspected by 3 members of staff but no-one stopped them being served. However,Cod was fantastic, lovely batter. Mushy Peas were just a pea mash .. instead of a mush probably due to over blitzing. Mushy peas are supposed to be like crushed peas not a pea paste mash. Again not spotted by the staff. Service: Very friendly and smart looking. Although didn't know what onion vinegar was...even though they stocked it, was not sure how to add it to chips. Some local guy came in and the staff took his order after me but was served before me for the same order. I was told to wait for fresh chips.....so very confused to get such bad chips. Atmosphere: Clean. Very busy around the entrance way. Backend of the shop was dark and closed off. Could do with changing the front to double or triple door frontage and moving counter back 4 feet.... Overall: With some staff training and maybe a redesign of the front on the next refurb cycle, this place has great potential to be the best chippy in town.ot is already loved by the locals.

Regularly travel 10 miles to get these cod & chips, they are the best around. The small portion is plenty ad the standard portion takes some eating! All cooked fresh while you wait

We popped down to Dawlish for a walk along the beach and decided to get some fish and chips. Colleagues that live in Dawlish had recommend this chippy to me in the past, so was looking forward to trying it. Plenty of parking available nearby, including 2 car parks. We read they had a restaurant, but on arrival the restaurant area was closed. Hopefully it'd be open again soon. We couldn't see a children's menu, so we ordered just a small chips and sausage for them to share. I ordered the large cod and small chips - I think it was about £8.50 - the staff were very friendly. It was a Friday night so we expected a bit of wait, it was busy but the wait time was reasonable. The cod was a big size, lovely chunky fillet and really tasty batter, perfect! The chips were also excellent, really tasty. Very much enjoyed and will no doubt visit again when down in Dawlish next.

My last visit was pre-pandemic, back then the fish was greasy and put my wife off. Having visited there on May 28th it was refreshing to see a big staff change, all female staff, as always, friendly banter ensued throughout my experience. I ordered two small Cod and a Large Chips with two curry sauce. Got them home and they were greatly improved since my last visit, skinless fish with crispy batter, perfect and the chips were great as well. Safe to say that if this standard continues we will be frequenting here more often !!

Ordered various fish & chips, sausages, etc. for 5 of us, all freshly cooked and served by very happy and pleasant staff. If you're looking for some lovely food just go to Chips Ahoy - my wife is so particular about chips and straight away said the are lovely - first time EVER!!!!

Thoroughly enjoyed our takeaway meals the past two evenings (I know, not overly healthy). First evening was sausage and chips, wasn’t disappointed. Our second meal was cod and chips, lovely bit of fish and the chips were cooked to perfection.

Have recently come back to using this place after many years using a more convenient chippy, and I've not stopped coming back here since, not greasy, large portions and a good curry sauce!

On a very dismal day, takeaway fish and chips brightened up the day. Well worth it.

Lovely, tasty cod, chips and pea fritter, perfectly cooked. Staff were warm, friendly, welcoming and accommodating to requests. I found the small portion was enough for one and reasonably priced, so I don’t understand comments complaining that portions are small and prices are high. Comments probably made by greedy people. If you like your fish and chips, give this place a try.

Had never been before but the place was recommended to me . Absolutely perfect,friendly staff ,social distancing etc all observed . Chips lovely crispy without being dry .Fish has nice thin batter with big white fresh chunky flakes of fish . Reasonable prices to ,found them to be cheaper than similar establishments.

If you want Fast friendly service with crisp chips this is the place to go.. Good sized portions and they cater for Vegan palette with a Great Veggie Burger

Visited here twice when in the area for a holiday. Just got chips the first time but they were so good we went back again and tried out the various veggie options which were all good. Good service too. Highly recommended!

Although I didn't have it myself...the Cod looked amazing...Chips were perfect and the girl gave me five pickled onions because they were "little ones" but they looked alright to me...maybe she just fancied me ...cos I am incredibly good looking. Very nice Chippy.

I am very fussy about my chips. First time experience chips cooked in palm oil. There was little between sizes, ordered a small chips (£2) and a large chips (£2.50). The chips were fluffy and crispy on the outside. Due to the current situation, we ordered in shop then waited outside. A staff member will put salt and vinegar on them if you choice to. I decide not to as mix experience with other chips stores seasoning taste. Chips hot, wooden forks provide with polystyrene closeable trays. Would I recommend to others? Yes Would I go again? Yes

Very good I love their Cod and chips, and it’s great that you can get a small portion, the smell is brilliant, wish I could have A pickled onion but I can’t, that would just finish the meal off. Keep at it, we have to have our fish and chips. Thankyou.

I like these chips! Uses palm oil. £2 small or £2.50 large chips, little between them. Due to C19, wait outside after ordering. Chips hot and not reheats. Wooden forks and polystyrene closable tray. Staff fine. Would I recommend to others? Yes Would I go again? Yes.

Tastiest chip shop chips I've had for a while.

First up, location was great, just around the corner from our holiday let. Hence, our first night meal was takeaway fish and chips.No haddock on the menu, a common thing these days in chippies we made do for four small cod and two large chips. The fish and batter were tasty, but the chips needed a bit longer in the fryer for me.The curry sauce was great, as were the mushy peas but not the most generous of portions.All in all, 7.5 out of ten and a good all round chippy.

Fantastic fish & chips! Delicious food and portion size just right (smaller options also available for children). Very friendly staff and clean toilets too.
