I just wanted to give this wonderful little place a mention, not just for the wonderful food, but for the kindness of the lovely owner, Andrew. My son is Autistic and food choices are very challenging for him, he has a very limited tolerance level and his safe foods most definitely have to include Chip’d with the mango curry dip. We’ve used both the takeaway service a lot and are weekly visitors to the shop and not once has either failed to deliver such great standards with a lovely team behind the counter. When days are difficult, routine is key to children with Autism and going back to school this week has caused a huge level of anxiety for my son, so we paid our weekly visit to Chip’d and spoke to Andrew the owner at length about how much his lovely little shop means to my son and his safe food always manages to lift his spirits. Today Andrew gave my son a big bottle of his favourite sauce to take home and the smile that he got in return will tell you just how special this gesture was, it really made his day. We’ve been using Chip’d for years, and whilst it might only be a food outlet to some, it’s really is a special place to us. Delicious chips. My son had a chicken burger that he said was nice. Chips might be slightly salty for some but I loved them.

Went last night 16/07/24, Lovely staff, Lovely food, I made the mistake of ordering the mozzarella melt burger thinking it would have a beef Pattie on it but it was just 3 cheese sticks haha my mistake not there's, However it was really nice anyway, Will definitely return in the near future.

The only place to get a Frikandel Speciaal on the north of England. Frietjes are made on the premises Edit: Thx for the bamischijf. Could have stayed in 1 minute longer though. 😉 Edit 7/7/24 Finally up in Chester today. Was looking forward to any of the Dutch fried snacks , Nothing in 😭😭😭😭😭😭

Don't judge Dutch chips by this offering. Large portion of chips for £4.79 including sauce (we chose garlic mayo). The chips were overcooked, greasy and oversalted. The Dutch would be horrified! Service was good which is about the places only saving grace. If you want the same experience, find a one star chippy or greasy spoon and eat chips there for half the price. Honestly woeful.

Wonderful chips. Also have the nicest sausages - I can't remember the name of them but they're almost like kebab meat. The staff are always great and very friendly.

Great Dutch style chips, very delicious. We also tried the chicken tenders, which were very good. There were different sizes of chips to choose from and different types of dips. All were delicious and fresh. Would definitely recommend this place to others.

My new favourite food in eat in Chester! The chips are very nice and there is such a wide variety of sauces you can get, I particularly love the frites sauce. I love how easy the cones are for eating on the go; they have these built-in sauce flaps which is genius. The price also is very reasonable - £3.99 for a regular cone which is more than enough to fill. Cannot recommend this place enough! It has become a rite of passage for any time I am in the city to grab a cone of these lovely chips.

We went to try this chips shop , and got disappointed by the way how the chips have been served. They are burnt into tiny chips-jerky and taste bitter because of being overcooked and burnt. It's a shame that the original potato flavour is covered and ruined in this batch that we were served.

Lovely Dutch style chips. They also have croquettes (kroketten) and other Dutch foods. I can recommend this cafeteria.

Ordered the chicken strips and asked them to make sure they are the normal chicken strips and not the southern fried ones as i can’t eat those. They reassured me they were the normal ones. Left and came back home to realised they’d completely ignored what i said and served me the southern fried ones anyway. Went back and asked them why and the girl who served me said they’d ran out of the normal ones even though she had reassured me that she was serving me those ones. Completely stupid and irresponsible to just serve someone something they haven’t ordered and not even tell them just because they have ran out. This can be dangerous because people have allergies and if customers are being served the wrong things even after making it aware that they can’t have it then it is a concern for the business.

LOVE IT SO MUCH. the chips where great I gobbled them up in about 10 min for a small. The small if pretty big. Pretty cheap. The service was wonderful and the atmosphere is so wholesome. I love how you can see the chips getting made. Me and my mum loved it . DEFO GOING AGAIN 🍟🍟😘😘😘😘💗💗💗💗

Have eaten here a couple of times now. Very generous portion sizes and nice chips. It's actually also pretty cheap in comparison to most places. Really nice.

Chip chip wahayyyyy! The girls in here were so lovely, they were speedy with my order and created a lovely atmosphere. You can tell they work hard and have the customers best interest at heart. Melissa and Liv you truly are amazing!

I went in to get some food and the girls in there were so lovely! They had smiles on their face and talked me through the menu. They also delivered my food in no time and I was thoroughly impressed. Walked in 25 mins before closing. Was totally ignored by staff. If you are going to close early at least have the courtesy to tell people who walk in! So rude!

Being Dutch I can confirm it's like a Dutch fast food place. Everything is done 👍👍👍👍 there is nothing like fresh cut chips double cooked. Add satay sauce, friet sauce (not mayo) and fine cut onions. The chips o war (Patatje Oorlog). Staf were very nice and friendly. Also dog friendly!!!

My 13yo got a portion of chips and chicken from here, £6 for a well sized portion. He thought it was delicious, skin on fries, not my cup of tea but he really enjoyed them. He will choose Chip’d again.

In the past these guys have been great, and always a company I can trust to provide gluten-free food as someone with coeliac disease (a rarity even for things like chips). At the Upton Viking Festival today, however, when I checked whether the chips were still gluten-free they told me that they weren't any more, as to keep up with demand at the festival they'd started cooking other foods in the chip fryer. On one hand I can understand the pressure of larger queues, but this really throws people with allergies and autoimmune diseases like mine under the bus. There wasn't any notice or sign put up to warn customers either, and no one mentioned it until I specifically asked. So any other coeliac customers could have gotten ill by trusting Chip'd to serve their usual gluten-free chips. I normally love their food, and was deeply disappointed not to be able to eat safely this time. Hopefully this will warn other gluten-free customers to exercise caution though, even if they've eaten at a Chip'd stand safely in the past.

We traveled to Visit Chip'd and being Dutch I think my expectations was set to high. Personally I don't think the Chips where that good they didn't hold there crunch and were extremely salty. Dutch chips are very different. The bitterballen didn't have much beef inside tasted Okey nice crunch but wrong mustard. Frikandel was good. Would've liked to see more Dutch snacks on the menu. Pinda sauce was served cold which was a surprise. Small amounts of sauce given on the side would've been better just on top of the chips. But very friendly staff . It just wasn't IT :/ it feels like it was half Dutch half something ells .. could've been so much better such a shame.

Chip'd's food truck came to Church Farm for our wedding. Love it, it was flippin' awesome. We have converted many people. Really easy to organise up front and the team on the day were great too. See you again soon, D&L

One of if not the best chippy in Chester. If you just want chips, there is nowhere better. Not only are the skin on chips delightful, the selection of sources are fantastic. If you've never been, it's a must visit.

Service slightly slower than average fast food place and chips worth it! Would highly reccomended the chili ketchup. Do not visit this shop for a fast snack, visit it for a good snack. well designed chip cones, friendly staff and large array of suplementary products from monster drinks to millionaires waffles. Normal cone very much suitable for a snack, anyone wanting a good meals worth should get the large cone. Good value in today's economy

They have amazing Stuff, are super friendly and I love their sauces. My favourite is Their packing which makes eating easy and 🍟 you don't need to carry with two hands.

Generally speaking nice customer service & food as well. Big minus for - someone is paying £13.XX for meal and homeless person come and say it he is hungry he is getting chips for free. He got more for free than i have paid for (£4). It is nice to help ( even tho they get money every month from council as support, prefer to spend it on drugs & alkohol rather than food) buy it should never happen when others paid for food and and waiting and someone comes and gest Stuff for free on the spot. Lovely girls bit thats BAD!

Cannot recommend these chips enough! So tasty! At the Northwich food festival today, just nipped out to have a look around on my lunch break, and came across these lovely people! Super friendly staff, with big smiles! I was a little sad they didn’t have Andalouse sauce but the garlic mayo was really good anyway! I even got a free lollipop!

A bit of Benelux comes to Chester (NB. It's not just the Dutch who mayonnaise on their chips). Nice skinned fries with an array of dips to choose from. A bit overpriced really.

I am slightly annoyed at the people criticising the chips here. They do not realise that Chip'd is actually a pop-up art installation and not a real chip shop. The joke is on them really, but I found the whole surreal experience to be worthy of praise, and not of the faint variety. Apparently the concept is an ironic, nay sardonic, nod to the ever growing reliance on the power of social media and powerful PR advertisement. The owners have shown that once this is in place they can randomly choose an everyday product, they chose chips for this particular installation, they can strip away all we know and love about the product, serve it up to such a poor level, I mean really lowballing the quality you expect in a chippy. The likes that would get the owners of a traditional Greek or English chippy arrested. Instead via clever marketing, such as the artisan dip holder in the cone, they show you can navigate the perils of cinder burned potato wedges and generate repeat custom - thanks to a few classy filtered Insta shots with the local 'hip crowd'. The last stage of the art project is to randomly make up a price of the food and let the money roll in. Do not eat here if you wish to enjoy the food, however 5/5 for the absolute joy of being engrossed and encompassed within a living art exhibition at the mercy of the brutally visionary mind of the lead artist.

An unusual style chip - noticeably different, but tasty. You only get one style of sauce at a time, which can get a but boring, but you're eating chips - not exactly the most interesting food to start with! The staff were friendly and the place was clean. Worth a visit if you fancy something to eat in between main meals.

This place used to be great and serve authentic belgian style frites. However now they don't seem to be able to cook them sufficiently. They are always undercooked n soggy.

These Dutch Chips were excellent. Coming from Greater Manchester to try the chip sensation of Chip'd. Their cones are struck of genius with sauce deposited at the top to dip in to. Simply Brilliant experience 👏 👌

Needed a snack, came across this place. Ordered a regular cone for each of us and had four different sauces (Chipotle, Piri-piri, Mayo & Satay.) The fries were skins on, and fried to a treat.

The girl serving me was lovely and polite (seemed relatively new) however the manager was so rude to the lady and myself and did my order wrong and the atmosphere made me feel so uncomfortable. Don’t snap and snatch things off of a member of staff when you are on view to all of your guests. Chips were good though!

Shame. A good idea in theory. But the chips are burnt to death on order to give a too hot grease feel. Some old chips are thrown in for good measure. Couldn’t finish mine.

Not quite the 'vlaams frittes' I've gorged many-a-time in Holland, but the chips are nice, nonetheless and there's a great selection of lovely sauces, though the whole range isn't always on offer. Staff are friendly and I've never had to wait long for grub.

Twice-cooked agria potato fries. The typical Dutch way. Good sized portions and well cooked. The cone shaped holder as well as being instagrammable also makes it easy to eat and dunk your chips in the sauce. Had to wait a few minutes for the chips to cook which considering it was lunchtime and that is their key menu item, it seemed odd.

Good place for french fries. Chips seems not to be triple cooked like in Netherlands, though. Still, liked that they put the sauce in a special container, instead of drowning your chips in it.

Yes, they're chips. Yes, they're dearer than your average chips. But in fairness, they're not your average chips. Mine were crispy and hot. Triple fried the wife said. Don't know about that but the blue cheese dip went well with the chips. This isn't a new idea but it is done very well. So get your hands in your pockets, get some chips. You might just love em.

Saw the potatoes going through the manual chipper. Then watched them being twice-cooked. But it was worth the wait. Huge choice of sauces too. We sat outside and demolished a large portion between us.

When we arrived, there was a bowl of cold, cooked chips on the counter. I placed our order and the gril put fresh chips into one of the fryers. Then a guy came along and he threw the old, cold, already burnt chips into another fryer compartment. We were served these ones. They were disgusting. We left most of them behind us. I didn't complain at the time because we were in a hurry but we will never go back.

Used to be better. Had 2 portions of chips today. They fried them freshly and then shocked me by throwing in some leftover chips near the end from a previous portion. So we had some dry and burned chips in with our fresh ones! Lazy. Not good enough when you’re charging £5 a small portion. Standards have slipped.

Really nice chips, very tasty. Not many Dutch dips available, mostly just generic sauces. If the price came down I would eat here more but its hard to justify £5 for some chips even if they are very tasty.

I saw this place when I was on a trip to Chester, chips looked delicious and had a wide range of sauces and decided to try. Wow these chips were the best I’ve had in my life!! I only ordered a regular but the girl who served me was lovely and gave me a good serving, filled my chips right to the top, amazing value for money. The blue cheese dip was legendary, I’ve always wanted to try blue cheese dip but I’ve never saw it in England before, definitely exceeded my expectations. Would definitely be here all the time if there was one local to me, it’s a shame I live in Manchester! Loved the food and service!

The most expensive chips you will ever buy. You wait ages to get them, pay through the nose for them, then you eat chips. And they taste like.... chips. Then you end up thinking, why have I just paid 7 quid for two cones of chips?? Honestly, if you want chips, go to the chippie round the corner and get 3 times as many chips (a massive bagful) for a quarter of the price. (And as a bonus, you will be served much quicker and won't have to wait outside in the cold, for ages, while your gourmet/rip-off chips are prepared.) EDIT: In response to your reply, I was told to wait outside on the pavement with my wife and kids, along with all the other customers. There were 9 or 10 people in total, all waiting outside, snaking along the narrow pavement (something referenced here by other reviews also). And I assure you, we waited for over 10 minutes, so I'm not sure where your '3 minutes maximum' theory comes from. I hope my honest feedback helps your business improve.

I ordered a large chips and didn't appreciate being told to wait outside. It could of been freezing or raining. A five minute wait on the narrow pavement on a busy city center street was not what I had anticipated. It made it worse that it is right next to a post office cash machine, which added to the 'blocking the pavement' feel. Once I got the chips there was a small tub of sauce in the cone with a lid on. There was no bin available for the lid - and I wasn't going to put it in my pocket (due to there being sauce on the underside of the lid) so I left it on the counter. (There used to be a bin further round the counter, but after the way I had been told to wait outside - I didnt feel this was an option). I left the shop and had to eat the chips outside (fortunately it wasn't raining or the chips would have got drenched) The chips themselves were too short 80% of them were only a couple of cm long which made dipping them in the sauce more hassle than it was worth. I persevered for a few mins. Walking the congestion pavements eating from the cone, occasionally walking into foul drain like smells that people familiar with Chester City center will know what I mean. After a few minutes I gave up and threw the cone of chips in a bin, I had probably eaten 10% of the chips. They tasted greasy and more like scraps. Previously prior to Covid I used to frequently. Get chips here and eat them in the seating area in the back of the shop - and they were always good. Maybe I was unlucky on this occasion with the length and quality of the chips. However I will not return here due to being told to wait outside on the narrow pavement and then be forced to eat the chips outside in all weathers. The staff said that the seating area is no longer available due to them having ice cream freezers where the seating area used to be.

High expectations met as heard a lot of positive noise about Chip’d. Great staff experience and above par product. Delicious Dutch fries with huge range of tasty dips. Would definitely recommend and will be back soon

Beautiful Bitterballen (albiet ordered in frozen) and just the right mix of mayonnaise and satay to make a convincing Patatje Oorlog. Fries are twice fried, well drained and perfectly salted.

We were in the cafe across the road and seen this place, the lady working there was exceptional she was chipping spuds cleaning, cleaning, cleaning chipping spuds we were exhausted watching her. So the next day we went in. It is exactly what it says it is they sell chips, but they are good chips and loved the dips we had too. they have little picnic type seats outside better to use in the evening as they are next to a busy road and path. I would go back next time in Chester
