Insane value for money Super cheap but some of the highest quality takeout food in the whole of Southampton. That’s just my opinion

Used to be one of the best fish and chip shop locally. Has gone down hill the past 12 months. I suspect change of ownership. My review is from December 2023 not 2 weeks ago. Not sure why Google published it 2 weeks ago. I stand by my review and now use Goodies rather than Chip Stop.

Don't visit. Food is cold and battered sausage is soggy. Tell me to take food back and call me a liar. Complained before but no change. Can't keep the staff

Best chip shop in hampshire. I use ir every week. A must for everyone to visit. Just wish all chip were open 7 days

Somehow they’ve created a really good atmosphere in a chip shop. Every time I’ve been here I get really great personal service with a very warm greeting!!

Excellent cod, not greasy, crispy & beautifully cooked. Chips were good too. Kebab was tasty & the salad was all fresh. I’d use again & recommend 👏🏻👏🏻

Fantastic chip shop, would always recommend

Well we have been coming to Chip Stop for many years since the last owner taken over. We have visited a few times this year and today visit was disappointing to say the least! After making order for £27.00 collected the food, travelled home to fine that the kebab meat has not even been added to the meal!!! From returning to Chip Stop to be welcomed by a smiling (manager) to say mistakes happen. Then taken a call and the other member of staff on a video call. Seems to be something in common. He then passed it over to the team member and she didn’t even get told why I returned. Will NOT be returning to Chip Stop in the future!! Absolute joke of Customer Service! Not even bothered that anything that goes out the door.

Not bad as Fish and Chip shops go.....went in late and food was cooked but fish swimming in grease so not particularly pleasant

Fancied some fish and chips and this was closest at the time. Ordered a medium fish and chips meal deal for just under a tenner and added curry sauce. The fish was upgraded to a bigger size which was nice. Then came the tasting once home. Lovely fish with crispy tasty batter and the chips were quite good too. I do think the Curry sauce was a little over priced however at £2.25 ish but I fancied it. Wasnt bad but didn't think it was worth the price hence only 4 stars. Would definitely visit again however and the staff are very friendly. Gets very busy and is popular so allow some time during peak hours in evening for food to cook fresh. Hope to try other things on the menu soon :)

This has to be the worst fish and chips ever dry old chips most likely yesterday warmed up crinkled dry hard unedable disgraceful to even have the audacity to put them in a box I got these for a elderly lady who really fancied this for lunch a few minutes up the road from this place the small bit of fish just about edible the rest had to be thrown away a complete waste of a pensioners money never mind her disappointment this shop is deliberately pushing these old chips on people with no remorse what so ever not fit to eat I did ring the shop to complain was told no manager was there maybe on Monday fish and chips is not a cheap lunch anymore fish shops who do get rid of all there old chips is not on I was told everything was cooked fresh after the wait I did presume that fresh ment fresh not yesterday evenings old chips if these chips were fresh it means that there chips in there fresh state must be dreadful in my opinion stay away do not throw your money away in this shop unless you don’t mind dry hard old chips fish ok ish defiantly not worth the money charged go elsewhere and be able to eat the food that you have payed for shameful

Always great fish and chips. Not greasy or oily and good portions. Haven't tried any of the other things they do but highly recommend the fish and chips.

A child's meal was ordered the chips were OK but the fish fingers were crisp on the outside but half frozen inside a meal that was binned

Went 7 Sept at 4.30pm when it opened, unfortunately the chips were stale and reheated possibly from lunchtime? Fish was good. Lets hope the new management won't be selling reheated old chips going forward?

Hands down the best chippy near Chandler's Ford. Fish fried to perfection every time. You can taste the pride in every bite. Lovely chips and sausage too. Lucky to have you!

I've only recently started using this chip shop. Will be my go-to place in the future. Great service with generous portions. A large menu to choose from. it's worth a visit. Plenty of parking, including disabled parking, is a bonus.

So disappointed. The fish was well overcooked. Such a shame as normally everything is perfect and is the reason we always go there. I am sure that this was just a one off as the staff are always so friendly and professional.

I work at a local care home and order from here a lot. I place several orders at a time and the staff always go above and beyond. Excellent customer service and the manager is very helpful and patient. I highly recommend. :)

Just had cod and chips for lunch. I’m nearing 80 and can not remember better fish & chips since my childhood in the North!

Not very wheelchair accessible, but brilliant staff, brilliant service and excellent food, staff couldn't be more helpful and friendly, it's best to order online before you go to collect, as they are so good they are always busy.

We love our chippy. For 11 years now and wouldn’t change it for any other place.

I recently asked locally for chip shops that are suitable for vegans. Chip stop was mentioned and a few had bad things to say. We tried it anyway, only to find a fantastic choice. Vegans are catered for with a good choice of food. The shop is run very efficiently with helpful and friendly staff. The prices are reasonable and We were happy with the food. Will definitely be back for more.

We throughly enjoyed our meals and great service, thank you. I'm not typically able to eat from chips as I have a seafood allergy, having checked a few weeks backs about how their chips were cooked decided to give it a try. Will definitely return.

Really happy with our fish and chip supper tonight. We had cod, haddock, chips, curry sauces, pea fritter and pineapple fritter - all perfect and hot. Very busy, but staff coped brilliantly and definitely worth the wait. Pleased to have found a new, decent, local chippy.

Best Ever Chip Shop ! No scabby chips everything cooked. Fresh . There really isn’t any comparison to any other .

Great food. One of our go tos for a cheap but decent dinner. Their meal deals are really good value. The food is always really good. Lots of options on the menu for a lot of dietary requirements. So glad they reopened!

Best Fish & Chips in Eastleigh, just love the Cod & Chips but today thought we would try a recent addition to the Menu, The Seafood Basket. We were not disappointed, it was superb with Squid rings, Squid chunks, Cod bites, Butterfly Prawns and salad. Just hope that this is going to be a permanent addition to the menu. 😋😊

Chips tasted lit, shout out to bossman for good work!

I popped in for a lunch treat of chicken with chips, as I was going to the Post Office next door. Never been here before, certainly won’t be returning! Staff were really nice, even though the guy serving me seemed clueless, he didn’t even know if they sold chicken lol, maybe a trainee? That’s the only positive about this place. I asked if they did delivery but they said they didn’t because they were busy enough. Odd, as while I waited for my food to be cooked just 1 other person turned up, and that lady only wanted a small portion of chips. The food here is expensive compared to similar places in the area, barely change from £10 just for a piece of chicken and small chips. Small chips were definitely small, about the right amount for a 7 year old to eat, if they weren’t hungry, 50% had to be thrown away because they were just thin overcooked shards! Most people who like overcooked crisp stuff ask for scraps, I certainly don’t expect half of my chips to consist of this, very disappointing, not worth £1 really. The chicken looked ok, but despite being deep fried the skin was slimy and not crisp. To make matters worse 30% of the chicken was inedible because of freezer burn! Shame I took it home to eat, would have loved to hear the excuse from the guy who seemed in charge for this rubbish. Made me wonder how clean their kitchen was, and how bad their food storage is. Freezer burn is easy to spot, the chicken should have been binned, but they still had the nerve fry it and give it to me, unacceptable! Time for an EHO visit I think. Lucky I wasn’t very hungry, from the 50% of the chips I salvaged, and the amount of chicken which was inedible it was certainly a very expensive light lunch. I would expect more chicken in a service station sandwich! Half of what I overpaid for had to be thrown in the bin. I certainly won’t be going back. With standards this poor I am surprised they’re still in business.

Quick service and lovely crisp chips. Fish just as it should be. Served in a shallow tray/box. Competitive price.

I been back to this chippy first time since the re-opening the chips taste a lot better than they did and the fish that i had is the best bit of fish I have had in ages will be coming back here more often

Not a huge fan of chips but these were delicious!! Ordered the sweet chilli wrap and it was amazing can not recommend enough!

My first visit having read rave reviews. Huge menu very clean and friendly staff,from there on it all went downhill. My fish was fried to order but took 20mins to produce. Took home the fish was huge and boxed but batter very dark brown and really hard. The chips were like rubber. Maybe I was unfortunate but the meal feel well short of average.

I had a supreme chicken wrap and partner had medium cod and chips. Chicken wrap was very filling and tasted lovely. Partner loved his Cod and chips. Chips were crispy on the outside and soft in the middle..perfect. Staff really friendly and we would definately return next time.we go shopping.

We had a large cod, 2 battered sausages and chips. The food was piping hot and the chips were hot and crispy. So glad that it's open again.

Fish freshly cooked to order, really tasty and the batter was light and crispy - no trace of oil at all. Chips were amazing; crunchy on the outside and fluffy inside, just perfect, don’t know how they do it! We’ve been using this chippy for years, but since reopening it’s even better than before. 5 stars!

This very popular chip ship is back after a devastating fire, the food is just as good as ever. With many of the same staff and good quality food there is simply no need to go elsewhere.

This place is currently closed due to a fire. Not sure when or if it will re-open.

We had fish and chips from here last night and they were the best we'd had....beats the rest hands down! The portions were large and well cooked. We pre ordered on line and it was ready just when it was supposed to be. Will definitely be back for more!

I don't understand how my review of Crouchers Restaurant at PO20 7EH got attached to the Chip Stop! Good Sunday roast and desserts. Our table for four was well distanced from others, and had a pleasant patio view through glazed doors. £££ not cheap.

Best chip shop near me. Order by phone and collect in 15 mins. There large cod is massive

Had the most greasy, mushy kebab ever hear. Again some people might like this but there is defiantly better. Can't say much about the rest of the food as I don't go here anymore..

Fast service and very fresh amazing tasting food

Excellent fish and chips. Consistently good over the last couple of years, the fish is always very fresh with a good crisp batter.

Staff was friendly, food was average. If you want chip shop chip - they do them. We had a small cod, a large chips and a large sausage. The fish was tasty, bit greasy, but that's expected. The sausage tasted really good and you got a lot of chips in a large portion. It's a chip chop and that's what you get really. They do offer other dishes such as burgers, pizzas and kebabs, and have a vegan menu. Though unsure if food is cooked separate.

Staff were very accommodating as I was the only person in. Helped me get to a cash point as they only took card over a certain amount. Another customer who walked in who clearly has a disability came in and the staff were in a childish way all trying to be the person to not serve this lady and making it obvious. There was 3 staff member, a large lad with a big hit. A slim guy with glasses and a slim lady with glasses Had I not been on my own with 3 of them I would have said something on the spot. Very poor service to her and made me uncomfortable a

Staff were very friendly, ordered a medium chips, which were cooked to perfection as well as a jumbo battered sausage (very crispy) and a large cod (very tasty) for the family. One observation but noticed in a lot of chip shops, rushing to get the order out leaves a lot of oil on the plate. Hold off serving your amazing fish for another 30 seconds to allow the oil to drip off and make a crisper cod. I'd be back sooner if this was the case.
