I can't remember a time when we didn't have regular takeaways from Chinatown and guessed it was probably about time to do a review! It's always been our go-to and for good reason. I've lived all around the country and I've never found food as good as this from a chinese takeaway. None of neon-glow sauce you get from lesser places, just proper well cooked fresh food. The food quality is excellent. I perhaps wouldn't overly recommend the restaurant (atmosphere not amazing...), the takeaway side is where the business is. Having said that I'd love to see them do something like a buffet on a Sunday, I think that would work really well (in the style of Thai Gardens in Rothwell). I've had many favourite dishes over the years but highlights are Stir fried beef cantonese style, satay chicken, sweet and sour chicken hong kong style and chicken curry. Please never retire!

Went with friends . We had the set menu which included the best lemon chicken I have ever tasted. We all really enjoyed the meal and would thoroughly recommend the restaurant. Dont understand why it isn't more crowded.

I ordered Chicken Chop Suey and Egg fried rice and added a portion of Chinese vegetables. When I arrived home, the rice was boiled rice and not fried rice. Disappointing. The chicken in the Chop Suey was slimy and without texture - was it chicken ? The Chinese vegetables, yet to be eaten, appeared fine, but .............. Overall very dissatisfied, not at all what I expected.

Just ordered a takeaway from here and it’s absolutely disgusting . The sweet and sour sauce was yellow and once putting it over the meal, it became apparent that it was just vegetable oil. Food straight in the bin and very disappointed.

We had a selection of dishes which were all freshly made and tasty. NOT the usual gluey sauce, but crisp veg, tender chicken / meat and pretty well seasoned. The fried rice and noodles were also good and not at all oily. Shame they do t deliver!

Friday nights aren’t the same without a takeaway Chinese from China Town in Oundle - has been our staple for nine years. Definitely the best Chinese food in the area. Food always fresh and well presented. Highly recommend duck and Szechuan beef but all dishes I’ve had very good.

The restaurant was empty when we walked in at 7:00. The lady up front seemed annoyed that we had arrived and interrupted her talk with the two children there. She seated up gruffly and plopped menus down on the table. When I opened the menu I was astonished at how negative the first page was, glaring type announced that: There was a minimum of £7 per person Gratuity was not included Tap water would not be served unless another drink was ordered as well. There is not more that could have been done to make my wife and I feel unwelcome. We left before we ordered anything, much less asked for a glass of tap water! I am happy to say we walked to another restaurant and n Oundle and had great service, a welcoming staff and amazing food!

We have been using China Town for years and have never had a bad experience. Quite the reverse. Food is great, arrives quickly and is piping hot. Service is friendly and on one occasion when we arrived after they had closed the kitchen they reopened for us. The manager is knowledgeable and professional, very courteous, and the staff are polite and well trained. We like the Szechwan beef and the lemon chicken as our usual, but often order something new for interest, and have not had a bad dish yet. We eat in and take out depending. Love this restaurant and am genuinely shocked the see such poor reviews. Agree with other poster, can only be someone with a grudge or an exceedingly poor palate! As for the chap who said the seaweed is curly cale he needs an education in culinary arts as well as spelling.

Just after sitting down to a take away from this chinese, and safe to say it will be the last, appauling food and expensive too, curry was tasteless and like water, sweet and sour was just red vinegar. The chicken balls had no chicken in them and the chips are rank. Felt the need to write a review so no other poor soul wastes their money here.

Give this place a miss and make the trip to either Thrapston or Peterborough. I am still in disbelief that a chinese restaurant had no rice (Seriously!) there is a tesco express 50 yards away, go buy some instead of telling customers you have no rice!!! Would never return here

Been here before, and saw the same man who took our order which came quite quick, at home we found the food still very hot but to be honest it was really quite bland lacking in flavor and quite disappointing, they were very quiet so maybe not the normal chef

Never before have I been so appalled. To start with on entry the prices were a bit steep. Ordered my food and drink and returned back as didn't want to wait in the restaurant for half an hour to check the screen shot as he refused to give me a receipt to find I had been charged £1.80 for a CAN of coke. Called back to confirm and the lad said "yeah that's right but I dont make the prices" I requested a refund of £3.60 as there was no way I was prepared to pay that amount for a can. Arrived at 2105 as requested only to discover the order was late and when I confirmed I wanted a refund for the drinks he tried to charge me again for the food. I told him I had paid him in full not 40 minutes ago and his oppo said yes he paid, he then replied with oh yeah forgot to mark it. Didn't say sorry or anything... 20 minutes later food arrives. Took it back and discovered that the food was of below standard, the sweet and sour sauce had an aftertaste and what was supposed to be crispy seaweed is in fact curly Cale. I know this as I had someone I know check it for me and there was no taste of salt or the usual seaweed taste. The wanton soup tastes like dish water. There were no added vegetables like I have had at other establishments that offer this dish and the wantons themselves were heavy and the interior had no taste. Needless to say I will not be returning and I have retained a bag of the cake to send to trading standards to show false advertising. If they had turned round and said sorry about the wait or the fact they are out of seaweed I would be a bit happier.

we enjoyed our meal, better than a lot of Chinese restaurants we have experienced. The staff were helpful and the restaurant itself was comfortable and pleasing surroundings, The music was very nice and very much in the background, not intrusive like a lot of restaurants....

Again, outstanding service at very good prices. Four meals, all good to very high standards, I had shredded chicken chow mein, it was excellent. The Missus had sweet and sour chicken, Hong Kong style, to which she enjoyed thoroughly, my two lads both opted for beef curry and egg fried rice, to which they also said was delicious, but on this occasion, they said it was lacking mushrooms, but was overall, top quality. A superb little takeaway, and in my opinion, the best in Peterborough. Keep up the great work team, and thank you for delicious food again.

I'm gonna go out on a limb here, I think this might be the best Chinese takeaway in Peterborough. I've had dinner from here many times and they've never missed. Always great and the amount is really generous (especially prawn crackers and chips). You can tell it's good because they are often very very busy. The team seem really efficient and great but they get swamped - hence you get the odd "slow delivery" compliant here. I've never had a problem though with delivery and buying in the shop is always fast and very friendly. Honestly, give it a try, you won't be disappointed.

We’ve been loyal customers here for about 8 years. The food has always been fantastic, with a lovely atmosphere, and we’ve never had a complaint – until now. On November 7th, we went to pick up our usual order of duck in plum sauce, salt and pepper fries, noodles, prawn toast, and a few other favorites. When we arrived, the doors were closed for nearly an hour, and we had to wait outside, knocking and calling multiple times before anyone let us in. Many customers which were waiting with us just left. Once opened They mentioned they hadn’t realized the doors were locked, which was surprising. Once we got the food home, the quality was shocking. The duck was burnt and tasted nothing like the usual plum sauce dish we know – we could barely recognize it. The salt and chili fries were undercooked and completely inedible, while the noodles were bland and unseasoned. We’re extremely disappointed, and unfortunately, this experience has ruined the trust we built over years. We might give them one more chance but It’s truly sad to see a place we used to love, fall so far from the standards that kept us loyal all these years.
