China Palace in South Kesteven

We went for the Sunday lunch buffet, £15 a head. Really good choice of food, not greasy at all, just well cooked with good range of flavours. All the things you would expect at a great price.

Recently moved to Bourne and ordered a takeaway here - it really wasn't nice at all. The chow mien was so bland and dry - it was so bland and dry that it looked white - i had to put extra soy sauce on it at home and that made it somewhat edible. When i collected the food the inside of the restaurant was completely outdated and smelt dusty/musty. Definitely wouldn't recommend dining in or taking away - probably the worst Chinese I've had.

Words fail me tonight and take no pleasure in posting this about somewhere we really like for food. Ordered a takeaway and told it would be an hour. Turned up to pick it up just before the 60 minutes and paid on my card. Where I sat down to wait a bag was on the table at the same time and over 20 minutes later someone presented me with the bag. When I challenged I was informed my food would be cooked again. About 4 minutes later I was given another bag and when I said there is no way our food could be cooked again in that time I was informed they had just to turn our meal around. We got home and can only assume it was the same food that had been sat there for ages. I get being busy but just awful customer service………

food is nice but the appearance of the outside of the restaurant is poor needs a revamp let’s it down big time and the inside decoration is old fashioned needs renovating

I recently visited this takeaway and the experience was very poor to say the least. For a start one of the dishes ordered was wrong, all of the food was at best tepid in temperature, however, most worryingly the rice was cold in the middle, anyone in this trade should know that rice, when not served at the right temperature can be dangerous, there were others complaining when I was there, will certainly not be back

So it was our parents 50 th wedding Anniversary, my mum particularly likes a buffet, and on a Sunday that’s what they do, it’s about £15 a head about average, The Food was lovely, constantly being refilled, Hot, and attentive staff, small plates but you can go up as many times as you like. Everyone enjoyed it, If we were going to be picky, the surroundings need work, to make it a little more plush, but actually I loved it

Had egg fried rice, crispy chilli beef and satay chicken skewers. Food was bland, tasteless and dry.

This was a takeaway so we did not eat in the restaurant but it was really tasty, we all really enjoyed it and we will be back !!

Been going for years now, really friendly service, love all the 'crunchy' food i.e sweet and sour prawns, freshly prepared. Pretty garden with lights. Always accommodate us for a takeaway or meal in. Only restaurant we eat in - the real deal. Boyfriend has the massive salt and pepper ribs - soft and unctious. Love it. Brought lots of friends and family here when they visit, all want to come back.

During lockdown we sampled all of the takeaways in Bourne and China Palace beat them all for frendliness, food quality, quantity and value for money. Their food always tastes fresh and we wouldn't buy from anywhere else having sampled all of the others. Sofia is very helpful and ensures the best service is always provided. Highly recommended.

Having used China palace for a few years now the last few takeaways have been some what disappointing? From sweet n sour sauce that's a congelled, hang it over ya head, sauce To tough bbq spare ribs fatty tough meat To under cooked spring rolls dripping in grease To undercooked chicken balls , like undercooked batter soggy fatty greasy Did discuss with patron little interest Will go elsewhere in future no loyalty and food going very down hill..

We went as a party of 8 for a pre birthday celebration for my sister.We decided to go for the fixed price of food selection and it was amazing! The food was tasty and plentiful, all of the staff were brilliant, such a lovely atmosphere. I'd never been before but will most definitely return and would thoroughly recommend to anyone.

China Palace has had a mixed history. A few years ago it was probably the best Chinese in town . Then it had a bad period where the quqlity was less good. More recently it has improved but I had a takeaway a week or so ago and it was quite poor. Singapore noodles fairly tasteless with absolutely no spicy flavour . Sorry I will need some convincing to revisit for a takeawy with increasing competition in the Town

Always been happy with the quality of the food. Tend to have a takeaway rather than eat in the resturant. Service is always good both eating in and for takeaway. There are other Chinese takeaways close by but you can't beat this one.

I always have the same food, sweet and sour chicken balls and prawn chow mien I have never had any problems

While staying with my daughter and son-in-law we had a takeaway from the China Palace, it was really very good, everything was nice and hot and tasty.

Outstanding choice of dishes; spotless environment and very attentive staff. Value for money was incredible as the amount of choice and quality of food was beyond our expectation.Ensure you book in advance to avoid disappointment as this restaurant is definitely worth a visit and we will certainly be returning in the very near future.

The food is very very salty and as such need to have lots of water overnight, don't eat there much now

We have been ordering from this takeaway for a couple of years now and the food was always nice. We have also eaten in the restaurant but recently the quality of the food has deteriorated.

Typical Chinese fayre...nothing new or different but well cooked, tasty and presented well. Service very good, maybe a little too quick from one course to the next but very pleasant team. I think they are missing “a trick” as it could be a real experience if the owner/chef could do something just a little different. Maybe a furniture/layout change, special “Chinese” dishes beyond the usual. Anyway, still busy with customers and takeaway business so maybe there’s no need for them to change the formula.

Ordered a takeaway last Friday for five adults and two children. It was ready in fifteen minutes, one of the best we have ever had and at reasonable cost

Don’t know why we haven’t visited sooner after living in the area for 5 years but so glad we did. The food is excellent, best Chinese food we have had in a long time. We chose a set meal which had a great selection and very good value for money. The staff are all very friendly and the place has a nice atmosphere.

Had a great visit! The food was really good and the staff were very friendly. I only didn't give it 5 stars cause I think our main order was forgotten about until a woman came out to check how everyone was and noticed that we still didn't have food. We will definitely be going back.

We go on a regular basis because no matter what you order, it is always excellent and you get plenty for another meal the next day. Nothing like warmed up chinese food.

Banquet meal was excellent more than we could eat friendly waitress packed excess so we could have it next day. Will definitely be returning.

We booked this a week before mothers day and I haven't eaten at the premesis for at least 10 years. It has been modernised and all the booths that was there have gone. It's light and clean inside.

Went here for hubbys Birthday meal, quite quiet, Sunday evening. Decor needs to be a bit uplifting as does music and keep the lights dimmed! But obviously it’s all about the food, which was great. We had a meal for two then added three extra dishes and it easily fed four of us. Service was quick and friendly. Would return.

Hi all, this takeaway is simply fantastic, the quality of the food is just the best..

Needed a take away for New Years Eve. An enquiry earlier had provided the information that it would be very busy so best to telephone an hour before our required collection time. Unfortunately they do not have a delivery service. One of our friends is allergic to garlic. We told them what our friend had chosen and we were advised immediately if the choice contained garlic. We have this problem whenever we eat out with our friends and other more expensive establishments are no where near as co-operative.

I phoned for a takeaway and had a friendly lady take my order and explain some of the dishes to me. It was ready when we went to collect it. On getting it home it was really hot. The food was of excellent quality. The meat was moist and tasty, the vegetables were cut to a manageable size. On the whole we were very impressed and will definitely visit again.

We’ve tried all the Chinese restaurants and takeaways in bourne and we prefer China Palace compared to all the others. The dishes are always full of flavour and taste very fresh. Even the street/fast food style dishes like the spring rolls, prawn toast and battered balls etc are not too greasy. Takeaway orders are always ready in a timely manner and the eating experience in the restaurant is always very pleasant.

Hemos usado este restaurante regularmente en los últimos 3 años y cada comida ha sido tan agradable como la última. Buena elección en el menú y el chef está dispuesto a modificar platos para degustar. Todo llega a la mesa caliente y fresco. Decoración sobria, pero muy limpio. Aparcamiento fácil, lo que es una ventaja.

Came here for a takeaway on a Saturday night. We rang up and collected.It took around 30-40 mins for it to be ready.We had:-Won Ton Soup -Sesame Prawn Toast -1/4 Duck and pancakes -Cantonese Sweet & Sour -Egg Friend RiceIt was all very tasty and hot even after we'd been driving home for 15 mins (i.e. the pancakes were still hot).Will definitely come here again.

We didn't book for a Saturday night but were given a table quickly. We chose a set menu and thoroughly enjoyed our meal - great tasting food, which was served in a reasonable time despite the restaurant being very busy with take away orders. We would definitely return.

Wouldn't get our takeaways from anywhere else. Lovely service, great value for money and the food is by far the best in this area! The vermicelli noodles are to die for!

We got a Saturday night take away from here after being recommended this place by a friend and we were not disappointed. The best crispy fried chilli beef that was actually crispy. Good sized portions and all cooked in a good time. We will definetly be going back and would like to try their buffet evenings too.

We arrived on the off chance of getting a table for two on a Saturday night. The restaurant didn't seem overly busy, but the first question we were asked had we booked? On saying no, we did get a response that made us feel we were inconveniencing them a little. They moved some newspapers off a table that was obviously vacant but was being used for their personal use. They seemed to have a lot of waiting staff and worked a little bit un organised. The takeaway trade was doing well, but it was a little noisy being seated right next to the customers who came in to collect their orders! which they had to do because the bar was the collection point and that was right in the centre of where the meals were coming out for seated guests. We ordered drinks but it did take a long time to get them, and we were tempted to go to the pub next door. Drinks arrived and our order was taken. We ordered the set meal for 2. The starters came out relatively quickly, and were very enjoyable. There were non of the usual Chinese displays of flowers made out of carrots or other vegetables they had handy.....it was delivered just as it was with no frills. Our following courses were delivered, and all the food was lovely. They had quite a few waiting staff and a lot of time was taken up in each person bringing in dishes two at a time instead or either on a trolley or large tray which seems to have been the norm in other restaurants I've eaten in. So for each dish that appeared we had to wait a time for the rest of the order, which was very time consuming for the restaurant and inconvenient for us having to wait to eat. The running of restaurant itself needs to be rethought through and organised to the point of it being to the advantage of both the customers and the owners themselves.

We decided at the last minute on a Saturday evening to eat out. On arriving at the China Palace there was a queue and it was very busy. In fact we hesitated, thinking maybe we would not be able to get seated without having booked. This was not the case, the staff were so very helpful and accommodating, moving tables around to get us seated, we had nothing but praise over the way they bent over backwards to accommodate. The service was quick and the meal was well presented and hot, the menu choice was extensive. In short we both thoroughly enjoyed the evening, we were not rushed, given that it was a busy Saturday evening. Overall a very pleasant evening meal.

A good, varied menu and well cooked food. The service is very good if you are eating in, but they also do takeaway. The prices are pretty standard for a Chinese restaurant.

There are a couple of Chinese restaurants in Bourne. This is by far the best. The Sunday buffet is great value and the food is really good. Thoroughly recommended.

A local for the past 10 years we have eaten at the China Palace several times over that period and nothing has changed. That though is the problem.The service is quick, friendly and efficient and the food is pretty much as you would expect, nice but not going to win any awards. The problem, in my opinion, is that the whole restaurant needs a refit. It is dull, tired and just not somewhere you really want to sit and spend time, even the lights are too bright, it feels more like a dentists waiting room than a nice restaurant. Perhaps that is why the place was less than half full on a Saturday night but there was a constant stream of people collecting takeaway. In itself another atmosphere killer.Whilst not a lot of choice for Chinese in Bourne, the China Palace is still probably the best of the two to choose from, there are a lot of Indians, pubs with food and takeaways and I fear that unless they spend some money and improve the restaurant the China Palace will become no more than another takeaway outlet.

Friendly people always do their best to serve you as quickly as you want to be served as we all vary on resting between courses or needing to rush. Good value and top quality ingredients, no glut here.

The Chinese take out is absolutely wonderful and never fails.When we actually do visit the restaurant the service is superb and the restaurant is lovely - the dining areas are brilliant and vary in privacy.The quality of the food never varies and is constantly brilliant. The buffet is also a hit - there's such a wonderful range and the food is delicious.

We've lived in Bourne for 3 years and never tried this restaurant until tonight. What a great surprise!! Small, comfy, very friendly, food superb, service great, price good. That says all you need really. They do a Sunday buffet that is very well priced and cooked fresh. Put it this way, we walked out with a take away menu as it beats our traditional favourite Chinese in the area hands down!!

We visit this small chinese restaurant on a regular basis usually on a Sunday evening. Great starter choice I recommend the squid and crispy lamb.Main courses all good and sizzling dishes are super. Nothing is ever too much trouble. Book if going to visit fri or sat.

Had a meal here with friends food was great very good place to eat at food was amazing value was superb food was all fresh and served very hot only thing I could pick out was there was a quite along wait between starters and mains but it didn't bother us as our group was talking away time passed very quick

This is my local Chinese restaurant/take away. Friendly and helpful staff, clean environment and great atmosphere. Delicious food and good variety of dishes to choose from.

I've been previous to this visit with friends however this time I took my family. The service was poor we waited 40 minutes to be served just for drinks!! When we eventually received our food it was cold and tasteless. Very disappointing visit will be finding another venue for next time.

Get take always here all the time and lovely, big portions! Recently went to celebrate my grandmas 80th and was lovely although less in portions than on take away. Lovely though!

Great food, good service and this is our best Chinese in town.The decoration is lovely and the staff are very welcoming.Sometimes you have to wait for the takeaways but this tells you how busy and popular they are.

I visit here quite often either for a take away or for a sit down meal, the food is soooooo nice and its not to expensive and the desserts are lush :)

I ordered just after 6, I didn't get my meal until half-past 8 after being told it would take an hour. Others were waiting much longer, a fight kicked off in the restaurant, the owner continued to take phone orders telling people their food would be ready in 30 minutes or less. The food (eventually) tasted like it came from jars, the cantonese sauce was claggy and bright orange...The young waitress belting it around the restaurant was good though, even gave her a tip - she took everyones grief that shouldn't have been aimed at her very well.All in all, dozens of families will definitely not be going back.

Had a very nice meal. The price of the set meal at £18.50 per head was very reasonable. The crispy duck was very good. We have had take always in the past but never sat in. As the previous report says it is a very plain decorated place but the food and service makes up for it.Would visit again.

We ordered a set meal from the menu. It cost us 18.50 a head, plus we got a bottle of the house wine for 13.50... which is the cheapest I've seen for a house wine in a restaurant for ages!!It's quite a basic restaurant that doesn't have any delusions of grandeur. The decor is basic, but it works. I wouldn't recommend it for anything romantic though.The chinese food was very nice. Not fantastic, but not bad either. The price was very reasonable.The staff were friendly and helpful. They were happy to accommodate our requests for additional cutlery and chopsticks. Service was quick and the food was hot and sizzling still when it was served to us.No problems at all, would be happy to recommend this place.

We regularly have a take away from here but I recently met up with a friend here for a meal. We chose the buffet menu and were given a wide choice of starters and mains followed by fresh orange segments and chocolates for dessert. Great value.

Paying a visit to my daughter and son-in-law in Bourne we paid a visit to this restaurant as the one we usually visit was closed, we were so pleased they were as maybe we would have missed paying China Palace a visit, the staff were very pleasant and helpful and the food was delicious, we will certainly be going again when we visit next time

We're always welcomed here and enjoy a nice meal, particularly the Thursday night menu. The owner is very friendly and the rest of the staff attentive.

12th January 2013Ordered a takeaway at 8:15. I was told it would be ready at 9pm. I turn up at 9pm and pay. Eventually got my food at 9:40. No real apology. Looking and listening to other takeaway customers I was not the only disgruntled one.To top it all off when I got the food home it was only just warm and needed a minute in the microwave to get hot.

Last weekend on the 22nd Dec, i took my family to China Palace, we have been going there for the past 5 years. We often celebrate special occasions there and this time it was a small family gathering for Christmas. We ordered a set menu with starters, duck and mains. The duck was very dry as though it was deep fried twice, felt like it was reheated. The main dishes were very salty and we found small pieces of beef in the vegetable dishes (my mother is vegetarian). We highlighted this to the waitress, who didn't speak much English and was quite rude, the manager came to see us. We were not complaining as we're are regular customers and we didn't want anything extra, just for them to replace the 2 vegetable dishes. I believed this not to be a difficult request.To my dismay, the manager didn't look pleased with us and took the dish back into the kitchen without an apology. When the dish came back out, it was a little bit burnt and wet, looked as though they picked the pieces of beef out and just reheated the vegetables. Obviously we didn't eat it and didn't stay for coffee. We will be choosing another venue next time.Very disappointing service, the staff hardly spoke any English, apart from a teenager working in there who i assume is still at school.

Me and my husband have used this Chinese takeaway and restaurant for the last 9 years. We ordered a takeaway on Saturday 17th November which included two tofu dishes. While finishing his tofu dish my husband found a piece of chicken!!! We are both vegetarians and always state this when ordering. We both felt ill with upset stomachs over the next two days solikely more contamination in dishes than we found. We called to advise but manager simply said she would inform the chef. This isn't the first time, we have found chicken in the egg fried rice and a piece of chicken in the noodles on another occasion, we did put this down to error, but 3 times!. We as vegetarians will never eat here again; also anyone with allergies should beware of this place as they have poor food hygiene and contamination.
