1 1/2 hours from placing our order to the delivery turning up. Got a phone call after 40 minutes to say it will take longer and they have to do 3 other deliveries before coming to us. Got refunded. Wait to see if we actual get it. Driver turns up, told her you took too long, we've been refunded, take it back. Will never use this place again.

We ordered a takeaway and I was blown away with how helpful the member of staff was regarding my gluten and yeast allergies. I have not been able to eat Chinese takeaway for as long as I remember so didn’t expect to be able to eat it, but I called to ask if there was anything suitable for me to eat, the very kind gentleman told me to pick anything from the menu and he would ensure it was made to my requirements. I chose my meal and it arrived and not only looked great it also tasted great! I am more than happy to report that I have had no reactions and I will 100% be ordering again!

Food was so fresh and really tasty. I was a bit pessimistic when I read all the bad reviews on here but was pleasantly suprised. I’m not sure but maybe it has changed hands? Would definitely recommend trying it out.

We had overcooked rice with pineapple, One huge vegetable pancake roll for over £5, casing not cooked through and lots of leftover veg packed in there. Yellowbean sauce had an odd flavour and scrappy chicken pieces. This used to be our favourite chinese but we will not go there again. Luckily got free prawn crackers so had to fill up on those. An almost total waste of £20+ apart from the crackers.

First time ordering and also the last. Very rude on the phone, zero customer service skills and tried to overcharge. Cheap ingredients and salty had to drink lots of water after. Nothing special, below average fake Chinese food so don’t expect too much. I would not recommend

Having recently moved to the area, it was hard having to finally say goodbye to the chinese restaurant we had used and loved for many years. However, we took the plunge and ordered from our new local restaurant, China One. We are so pleased we did. The food is lovely and the staff are so friendly. The chicken balls are to die for, the BBQ ribs are superb, and the mushroom chow mein is delicious. Great chips too! Definitely give it a go if you are looking for some lovely food.

Delivery came 10 minutes early. The food was crispy and warm. The flavours beautiful. Seriously I wasn’t expecting it to be so nice. Thank you.

New Years Eve 2020 - end of a rubbish year and pre-ordered a takeaway for this evening. It’s 3 hours late, the phones are constantly engaged/taken off the hook and I’ve had to send a family member to investigate as I’m having to isolate. He gets lied to being told it was sent out. Funny you’ve never had trouble delivering before and yet tonight you haven’t turned up or simply didn’t send out the order. And then there’s no question of remaking the order? Where’s the order you allegedly sent me? Surely you’re not making another £50+ order for me free of charge?? Any chance of a refund/ discount for me waiting over 3 hours for a delivery that hasn’t materialised for my hungry kids who were excited to have a nice New Year’s Eve meal

Bad service, bad food and bad customer service!! Phoned and placed an order for delivery at 5.45pm and was told it would take 1 hr - fair enough. Hadn't arrived by 7pm so called and was advised 'it was on it's way'. Finally arrived at 7.30pm only to find that one dish had arrived without the sauce - called again and was advised it could take another hour to deliver the sauce - kids were starving at this point so I suggested they refund me for that dish as it was incomplete. I was told they would call me back later to arrange this - surprise surprise I never received a call! The food - all dishes were very bland for a chinese apart from the amount of salt used. Will not use them again and can only suggest you order elsewhere too!

First time ordering here and it will be the last, can't comment on the food as it never arrived.. waited 2 hours for delivery, called multiple times to be told its on the way. I called and cancelled in the end as the kids were hungry

Awful, couldn’t eat most of it-Singapore rice noodles just tasted of salt couldn’t eat wouldn’t recommend

Decided to have a take away just before Christmas.. oh the food was delicious, even my mother in law enjoyed everything. Can't wait to visit again.

Was a regular here up until 2 years ago when we moved , staff always friendly food always spot on , order always correct. Miss this takeway .

We pre ordered for collection. Got the food home it was tasty,delicious and very hot. Tasty fresh rice, large fresh mouth watering chicken satay, hot chillie shredded beef... what can I say! Beautiful.

Warning all, China One is under new management. Gone is the excellent service and first class food to be replaced with appalling unorganised service, missing orders, over or under cooked food. We have been using China One every week for the last 3 years, tonight’s effort was the last time.......

Ice cold waiting for the food - no heat in waiting room. My food sat on the ice cold counter until it was shouted for me. Ribs - in sauce - way way too salty Prawn in black bean - soft prawns kind of mushy ant too much chilli. Wife felt sick after it.Salt and pepper chicken not in batter and not dry as it should be - wrong dish maybe but not good.Duck was ok: chow main average. I have had from here before and it was ok but this was a disaster and for sure I will not go back - there are much better.

This place always seems to be busy, judging by the poor lady trying to juggle phone calls, pick ups and new punters coming in all the time! Despite this, the food still gets turned around quickly and is hot and tasty. Good selection of dishes but we have noticed prices have crept up a bit over the last few months.

Excellent, consistent and really tasty Chinese. Not oily like some and have tried lots of different things and never had anything we don’t like. Quality of the food is good with generous portions and plenty of meat in the meat dishes. Highly recommend

Got a take out from here recently. Decided to try some slightly more spicy/hot sounding dishes after we were a bit disappointed with the bland taste of one of our previous favourite dishes. Although they were OK, they were no great shakes really and the special fried rice was bereft of most of the contents normally associated with SFR - mainly just rice with a few peas and shrimps this time, so not greatly impressed. Shame, as it's convenient for us and quick and easy.

We've enjoyed the takeaways from here before but a couple just recently haven't been quite as good as we've had before. Our favourite chicken with cashew nuts & yellow bean sauce was very bland, chicken mushy and soft and very little taste. Thought this might be a 'one off' and the next time we avoided that choice and had a crispy chilli beef with sweet chilli sauce, which was nice but we didn't get the 'complimentary' prawn crackers, which was a bit disappointing. (Maybe there's a higher minimum spend now?) Will give it another go at some future time but might leave a gap to see if is just a temporary blip...

I have tried quite a few Chinese takeaways in the Colchester area and find this the best so far. The food is fresh and well cooked. Staff seem friendly and everything is prepared quickly.

We have been coming here for about 4 years and it's always consistently good. We wouldn't go anywhere else for Chinese. Highly recommend

I've been using China One for some time, the food has great flavour, beautifully cooked and generous portions too. Never had a bad meal from this first class take away.

Mi familia y yo hemos utilizado uno de China para nuestras chino ya que hemos vivido en cuatro años de Colchester y creo que es el mejor de Colchester. Siempre nos cobraron £1.50 entrega y hemos aceptado que y una propina al conductor. Llamó a la orden esta noche y nos dijeron que 3 libras de entrega!! Vivimos a tan sólo 2.9 millas lejos! dijimos que siempre hemos pagado £1.50 y se discutieron y estamos contentos no completar nuestra orden cuando nos dijo que no iba a ser estafado.

la comida de siempre, nunca ha sido decepcionante. Bollos maravillosos pastelera. El personal es amable y siempre frescos, caliente y delicioso. Mejor llevar en Colchester.

Lovely food. Really nice takeaway. The staffs are really nice and friendly. We ordered quite a large order and everyone in our party enjoyed it. Good food for the price you have to pay absolutely worth place to go.Thanks China One!

I used this take away for the 1st time. There are many take-aways in Colchester but i'd read some good reports on this one. However they have a few chefs outback & I must have got one who had bad hair day . Our meal was Very poor. The whole dinner was overcooked, so therefore dry, & the prawns were hard.There was no excuse as I arrived early for collection & waited whilst it was being cooked. I WILL NOT BE GOING BACK!

I've been coming here for a year. The staff is really friendly and efficient, the food is great and the place is clean (you can actually see the kitchen). Never had an issue.

Drove 4 miles to get meal - waited 45 minutes for meal - drove 4 miles home again! Once home find out main part of one meal is missing, call the take away and they offer to make me another! Logistically not going to happen! - added to Which the remainder of my guests meals would all be cold! Offered me a refund of the £4 for the meal! - seriously!!!!! - absolute joke, ended up taking the whole order back 4 miles for a refund! (Which was insisted upon) Never mind the petrol for the 16 mile 2 round trips for sod all!Lost a loyal customer tonight - never again! Won't recommend to anyone either Poor customer service Took our custom to a rival takeaway less than a mile up the road who were 10/10My new local!

This is a very poor takeaway and uses cheap ingredients. I have also spoken to a few friends who have been here before and I wish I spoke to them first as they have the same views as myself. It was a complete waste of money and just made me feel very ill. It's just cheap food that tastes are hidden with spices, you could literally see the oil and grease running out of the food. Do yourself a big favour and go to another one, there are plenty to choose from after all

I canrt beleived this is a Chinese takeaway , as food is frozen smell, and i can tell it s been defrosted, then hot up by microwave. . Same taste as the Hong Kong chef next door. Both tasrw strong in msg and grease. Very un -healthy I wont try no more. So. There is no next time.

I've started using this takeaway about two months ago and i think this is one of the best, if not the best Chinese takeaway in colchester. The food is full of flavour and the portion is very generous. i would recommend the singapore rice noodle, char sui bun and satay sauce. all divine!!

I went to this takeaway due the the reviews, how disappointed was I?! The meat and prawns had that once frozen taste and the dishes generally lacked flavour. The best dish was the sweet and sour, it didn't have that tomato ketchup taste. I don't know what else to say about it to be honest, nothing special, the same run of the mill lazy cooking that most chinese restaurants in colchester seem to churn out. Whats happened to fresh cooking?!?!? I am literally at a loss as to where to go for good chinese food without paying the earth.

Tried many of the takeaways in Colchester over the past ten years since moving here. This one is the best by far. Top quality food and a really friendly staff Going to get one tonight from there.

New to area and just moved in we rummaged through takeaway flyers to find a takeaway, the delivery lady was lovely - really friendly, food was superb and excellent value set meals

Great staff- English speaking on the phone and delivery persons- after searching high and low- after moving from London and being spoilt by china town's excellent food- this is without doubt the best Chinese outside of the capital! Usually delivered within half an hour of order- fresh and hot and massive portions- we never consider ordering from anywhere else in colchester!!
