China Kitchen in Chelmsford

First time visit with friends who recommended me this place doe my wife’s birthday. Had so much fun from start to finish. The staff and management were excellent and the quality of food was amazing. It looked all so fresh and colourful. The scallops were spot on. Look forward to to a return visit for sure and would have no hesitation recommending this establishment. Thx to staff and management for making it a great night. You all provided an outstanding service. Well down.

Not rating the food, just the customer service. Ordered dinner 16:58 and told 1 hour. Called 18:15 to ask where it was, and told there was a mistake with order and receipt shows 17:30 order time and it would be another 30 minutes! I asked for some money off for their error was told no, asked why and was told due to ordering outside South Woodham.I then questioned whether I was being charged for delivery and told I was. They wouldn't even deduct this. New to the area, all I can say is there cannot be much competition in the area for them to treat people without any care at all! Won't be back! I'd sooner go hungry.

Enjoyed many a good meal here but the last two takeaways were we’re far from their normal standard. Buttery/oily egg rice and ribs and overcooked and tasteless prawn toast.

Came here randomly on a Wednesday night at 8pm, was very quiet inside so was able to be seated without booking. The service was lovely and kind, and the food was incredible! It’s been a long time since I’ve had a meal and walked out feeling so impressed that I’ve felt compelled to write a review. All of the food was hot and delicious, the best Chinese food I’ve eaten in Essex! Was given 2 complimentary bottles of beer too at the end which was a lovely gesture to top off an amazing meal, have recommended to all my friends and family and will definitely be coming back!

We could be bothered to cook on a dark tuesday night so drove into town and decided on the China kitchen as we have not eaten in there before what a great choice we made. As a tuesday not busy so had a nice table away from other diners.the service was great and the food delicious we both said it was the tastiest chinese food we have had in years.i know it was quite and the standards might drop when its busy but we could not fault it and 2 bottles of beer to take home with us as a thank you lovely. We will back for another midweek treat.

We recently ordered a takeaway from this restaurant for the first time & were not impressed as we had to wait a considerable time for the food to be delivered, nearly 2 hours ! One of our choices was No.71 Aromatic Crispy Lamb & it was very dry & overheated & was very hard to eat & enjoy. Also the King Prawn Curry No. 90 was not very tasty at all, as well as this we had No. 129 Mixed Vegetable Chow Mein which consisted mainly of a lot of noodles & very few vegetables on the top ! What with the over the top price for this food too we were not impressed at all & will not be ordering any more food from this restaurant !

It's incredible when you walk out of somewhere you've eaten, not only full up with wonderful food but smiling due to the service you've received. I thought China kitchen went the extra mile. We all had the £23 set menu and my god was it good. From starters to dessert, everything we were served was delicious (and plentiful). Dishes that stood out for me were the crispy chilli beef and the sweet and sour hing Kong style. Sweets, free drinks, attentive waitresses, this place was excellent. We will be returning.

I and my sister was staying in a hotel probably 50 yards away from this Chinese restaurant, I telephoned to order, was told half hour, before collecting, as asked for delivery, at a charge of £1 for 50yards up the road, I arrived to collected my food only to be waiting another half hour, was asked if I would like a complementary drink, I asked for a brandy and baileys, was told I could not have this, so asked for a rose wine, which was on the list of complementary drinks, I waited inside the restaurant, I asked a gentleman who was sitting on another sofa opposite myself he had been waiting 45 minutes for he’s takeaway, for the service and wait time for our last meal before travelling home in the morning, and once I did receive my takeaway by the time I got back to my hotel room I was not that hungry so hardly ate anything, I may just as well of rolled a £20 note up and set it alight, I know everyone is working hard due to the lockdown, and all want to earn money again, but for this being a sit down restaurant and a takeaway, I feel they are taking on to much and can not cope with the takeaway demand, No I would not eat from this restaurant again if I was to return

I've been using this takeaway for nearly 3 years. I called an order through and was told it would be a 2 hour wait but if I collected it it would be ready in 45 minutes. The issue with this is that the price changed. They had charged me the delivery cost even though the meal cost more that £15. Menu states order over £15 is free. Orders under will be charged a £1 delivery cost.Initially I thought it to be a mistake, no harm done. Next order checked the price and again the £1 charge for delivery was added. Ordered round the mother in laws and same thing again even though the meal was over £15.Today same thing again so I called them and was told if I didn't like it I should go else where and it was the computers fault. Fair enough, perhaps I should but I've been ordering from them on a monthly basis for the best part of 3 years. How much money have they dishonestly taken from me and everyone else. It's not about the pound, it's about the principle and the lies when you call them to complain. Customer service is appauling. The female and male managers/owners just shout at you and offer no explanation and certainly no appoligy. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS TAKEAWAY

The best Chinese ever! The food is always fantastic here. The reviews speak for themselves. Our one and only choice for Chinese.

Best Chinese restaurant and takeaway service I have been too, delicious food and I have recommended to all my friends and family

Always had a lovely meal and good customer service. Always preferred Indian takeaway to Chinese but China Kitchen has made this s my favourite.

I’ve always visited here on special occasions and birthdays with my family, there’s usually a large group of us and the meal is usually perfect and the female manager is always amazing. Last night was the first time I got a take away from there as all the other Chinese places around are closed due to lockdown, I think they are doing a great job considering how busy they are; being the only place open for miles they have a lot of people to cater for. You can’t please everyone all of the time but I will never complain about this hard working restaurant, and after everything else going on in the world I am grateful that I could get a yummy Chinese to eat with my family.

No complaints from us!! First time collecting our takeout.. Great helpings, great taste and had extras given! Thank you China Kitchen! We will return!

We went to the China Kitchen for a takeway, was told it would be 5 minutes, which it was, too quick to cook fresh. The chicken rice was not the same as we normally have and the chicken balls did not seem freshly cooked. Sorry wont be using again

Our usual Chinese was closed so we ordered a meal from the China kitchen. All I can say is we shall never use them again. The food was awful and over priced. The Chop Suey was so sickly sweet it was unpleasant. The chow Mein was far too over seasoned. Annoying when you pay good money for extremely poor quality food.

Excellent as always the prawns with cheese to die for !! For me the fresher the prawn crackers the busier the shop

The staff are so polite friendly and welcoming....The food was very tasty, piping hot and nothing was overcooked. There was plenty of food served and sadly, we couldn't eat it all. They did offer to box it all up for us, but we only wanted a few bits from what was left over.Another great meal and made all the better by the attention by the owner, amazingly friendly and when a meal was sent to our table in error - we were told to enjoy it free of charge as it was their fault.

Although it is the Chinese New Year and the restaurant was busy I asked how long would a take away take. I was informed no more that 30mins, some 1 hour later after waiting in the restaurant which has very little space asked again only to be told it will be soo, another 7 minutes later they brought the food out. Very poor levels of service, to cap it all when I got home the quality of the food was not up to the standards we have normally expected from the best Chinese take away in South Woodham Ferrers ( New Town ) Unfortunately New Town Chinese was closed tonight, probably celebrating their Chinese New Year next time will wait till they reopen. Would not recommend ChinaKitchen to anyone.

Never been spoken to so rudely!! Snatching food from my hands when trying to explain the dish and sauce I always have was really spice this time, she was then aggressively asking where the rest of the dish was (bearing in mind these dishes were shared between 3 people so only my portion had the sauce on) then snatching the food from my hands (they said they would replace) because I said I would not being returning due to the way I have been spoken to, and then refusing to give us our money back! Absolutely disgusting!!

The food was thoroughly lovey, but the thing that bowled me over was 'the amazing service'. It was like going back to the time when people actually cared about their customers. They were so accommodating and eager to please. The young members of staff were delightful. They were intelligent, happy and confident.... not the Kevin and Perry's you see so often in other places. The Manager was the cherry on top. She was bursting with enthusiasm and so good-natured. No wonder her staff love working for her! This little place was such a find!!

The girl who took my order seemed to have some trouble understanding me as there was a bit of background noise at her end. I had to repeat my order a number of times to her. This was not helped by the fact that I had to read out the full menu descriptions for each item, instead of simply giving each item’s menu number as normal. The girl advised that this was necessary as their till was not working.After I completed giving my order, I asked her to read the order back to me. She repeated the order back to me and it was correct.However, she was very flustered and muddled and when making payment over the phone, I had to read out my credit card number to her no less than 5 times, before she finally got it right!I asked her how long it would be for delivery and she said it would be 1 hour.The order arrived late, finally turning up over 1½ hours after being placed. Upon checking the order, I discovered that we were missing an item from our order and had an additional item that we hadn’t ordered. So, I immediately called China Kitchen back. The girl that had taken the order was then very rude and unhelpful to me and then proceeded to argue with me that we had been given what I’d asked for! After placing me on hold for a long time and without telling me that she was going to place me on hold, she then said a delivery driver would come out to me to swap the dishes over, but she could not say how long this would be; it would just be at some point later that evening when the driver had some spare time! And no hint of an apology!! Considering how long we had already waited for the delivery, I advised that this was unacceptable and requested that she simply refunded our missing item.She then put me on hold, again without telling me that she was going to place me on hold, for a long time and then came back to me saying that I would need to return the dish myself to the restaurant to obtain the refund!I advised that this was also unacceptable and that I was not able to get to the restaurant, which was the whole reason we had ordered a delivery in the first place. I asked to speak with the manager and was again put on hold for a long time.Finally, the manager spoke to me, but she was impossible to speak to; she instantly started shouted and ranting at me in a very confrontational, aggressive and abusive manner and would not let me speak at all.Because of this I hung up on her. Two minutes later my phone rang and I answered it, it was the same manager who then instantly resumed her torrent of shouting and ranting at me, so I hung up on her again!We were regulars, but will never use China Kitchen again, their customer service is disgusting! This was a simple mistake that should have been resolved in 2 minutes. Unbelievably rude and arrogant staff, I do NOT recommend!!

We visited here with family in a late Sunday afternoon for a meal with a young baby. All the staff were very helpful, baby chair provided and orders taken with a friendly smile. Food, as usual, was perfect and the timing of delivery of our courses was checked to make sure we were served at the appropriate times. We love this restaurant as we are assured quality food with fantastic service all topped off with free ice cream and beers and wine to take away. Highly recommended

Visited with friends for a birthday celebration. China Kitchen offers a wide choice of fantastic food (the best I've eaten). Changes to "standard" menu items were agreed without fuss. The owner / manager is both incredibly efficient and incredibly entertaining. The staff are friendly and proficient and went out of their way to make the evening special.The hospitality, quality, value, service and above all cuisine is second to none. Highly recommended...simply excellent!

I booked a table for 7 at China Kitchen for our granddaughter's 7th Birthday celebration. The staff were excellent, and the choice of food superb. The table was set out especially with decorations, and the dessert arrived as a sharing platter with all sorts of ices and sweets, with an indoor firework and candle as well! The food was beautifully prepared and quite delicious; the sea bass in sweet and sour sauce was a great hit. Thank you to all of you, for making the evening so enjoyable.

Went here for the first time tonight. I can certainly say we'll be back for sure! The food is so tasty, the best tasting Chinese I have ever had! And the service was outstanding. Thanks so much! We'll be back for sure!

From the minute you enter there is food on offer, the waiting staff are beyond polite and the food will most definitely not leave you wanting for more. Our only piece of advice is leave room for ice cream!

We used to use china kitchen a lot and always enjoyed it . We changed for a while and went to another one which was recommended to us . On Saturday we were in woodham early and decided to nip into her to get a take away. It was the worst one i have ever had . The Egg fried rice was just rice with big lumps of egg. The special chow mein was awful. . Wont be going back thats for sure

Food was not nice! Save yourself the torture and expense!!!!!!! Couldn’t recommend the Golden Pearl in Bicknacre more!!! Don’t waste your money.

New to the area and keen to find a good chinese. Had two from here so far and both have been really good. Loads of flavour and huge portions. A portion of mixed starters will serve two people so only order one between 2.

Lovely Chinese, food was beautiful and staff so friendly and obliging definitely be back again. Birthday ice cream tray a lovely surprise for our friend too.

We went on a Monday evening with another couple, each couple chose the set meal for two at £20 per head. The food was exceptional, the service friendly and efficient and the restaurant comfortable and warm. We were given complimentary coffee with chocolates and when we paid the bill a complimentary bottle of wine and beer per couple. Would highly recommend this restaurant

I took my family to the China Kitchen for a meal. The manager and her staff were so polite, very attentive and helpful. The food was extremely nice and I highly recommend a visit here for a great meal. Well done team China Kitchen

We eat here on Christmas Eve, there was a lovely busy atmosphere The food was fantastic Service was brilliant We also always order for home delivery which is prompt and always tasty and hot

The food here is great. you always eat too much and just when you think you cant eat anymore, they bring you a dessert made up of different ice lollies,vienetta,and various sweets.delish.

This is not the first time this has happened to us - but WILL be the last as we will never be back, over the course of a year we have spent a lot of money eating in and on takeaways but not any more after this Birthday Shambles! If this restaurant thinks it can cope with turning tables surely 1st sitting guests should be advised/told

I visited China kitchen last night with some family and can’t recommend it enough it was my birthday and throughly enjoyed the night. We had the set menu at £22 per person which was amazing value for the amount and most importantly the quality of the food. Lots of little extras which make this place stand out including free drinks, ice cream and coffee. We also had a amazing waiter who’s name I didn’t get but he was Romanian. Nothing was too much trouble he worked exceptionally hard and is a credit to the restaurant. Definitely worth a visit but glad we booked as it was so busy !!

We found this restaurant on Trip Advisor and I’m so glad we did. The food was amazing but not too expensive, whilst the staff were responsive and helpful. We all had such a good experience, dining in comfort (there were 6 of us) and were taken care of all evening, starting and ending with complimentary drinks, which we all appreciated. I have never used Trip Advisor to recommend a restaurant before but excellent food, great hospitality and superb service at a reasonable price deserves a good review on here. Will certainly dine there again.

We had a lovely evening at the China Kitchen. Celebrating a family engagement, we were made to feel very pampered with table decorations and a free bottle of fizz. The owner was super friendly and made our evening very special. The food was also very good. Highly recommend, especially for that special evening.

Great place. Only used as a takeaway. Food is always very fresh and tastes great. I've tried a few of the other Chinese takeaways but this place is the best by far

I've been here a couple of times, but the service, food and presentations never fail! The manager, Wyn(?), she's amazing with the customers - always buzzing about making sure everyone is is happy and that the tables are served cared for by the waiting staff. The food was amazing and the free ice cream treat we were given at the end was amazing; small slices of different ice creams and some sweets too boot!

I've eaten at all the Chinese restaurants and takeaways in South Woodham Ferrers and this is the best by far. Fresh ingredients, quick service at a reasonable price. Constantly great.

The staff were lovely, really looked after us, which was nice as it was a double birthday celebration. The restaurant was clean and cheerful. It was also packed on a Saturday night, which probably shows that local people know about China Kitchen and like it. The food was excellent. Plenty of it, but more importantly it was freshly cooked and very nice: top quality chicken, prawns and ribs, nice flavours. We couldn't fault anything, and are looking forward to going again!

We had a wonderful meal at China Kitchen last night, It was my nephews 8th birthday. I wish to say a great big thank you to everyone at China Kitchen for going so out of their way to make it a fantastic evening for us all. When I booked they asked if it was for an occasion, I did not expect at all what we were presented with when we arrived ( it was a dream for an eight year old), The food was superb and plentiful , Nothing was to much bother for the ever so friendly staff , I have only previously had take aways from here which are always superb. Would we eat here again? Absolutely . Spotlessly clean, Super friendly, Superb food & a lovely atmosphere. Thank you all again.

I visited for my birthday and I can honestly say they couldn't do enough! On arrival they had decorated the table which was a nice surprise, the food was really good (more than enough) and staff were very friendly and helpful. They really made the occasion special with some free drinks, free food and even a bottle of beer each plus a bottle of prosecco to take home.

We only live 5 minute round the corner and have tried various Chinese but my god these top the rest! We have never had a bad meal and the portions are extremely generous....our in laws always request a chines when visiting us! We have yet to dine in but can’t wait to try in the near future and have no doubt it will be as amazing as the takeaway service!

Been here three times now ,went with friends who live local we travelled about ten miles and specifically booked this restaurant weeks in advance. food is excellent ,we went for set meals which they allow you to mix up if you want.plenty of it and the most plump prawn toast ever.they always give you dessert on the house ,Ice cream and free coffee.also a free bottle of beer and small bottle of wine each and chocolate for younger daughter When we were leaving .come here you won't be disappointed.almost forgot the staff were amazing esp the owner

Have been here on a number of occasions now, mainly for birthday celebrations. The lady owner is amazing and always goes out of her way to make the occasion special. She decorates the table with balloons and banners, provides free cocktails for the birthday person and gives everyone free ice-cream, tea and coffee after the meal. Everyone gets a free small bottle of wine when they leave and the whole evening is fantastic. The food is delicious, even though a bit pricey, but well worth it with all the added extras you get. Highly recommended.

We visited China Kitchen last night to celebrate a birthday. We hadn't told them in advance that this was the reason for the meal out, however when they saw the decorations we had brought with us they got us some birthday banners to put up too. The birthday girl was also given a drink on the house when she arrived.

This was our second visit here and it was even better than the first. The food is simply amazing. Beautifully presented, wonderful flavours and plenty of choice. Staff were all very friendly and attentive. Very enjoyable evening with friends.

We booked a table last minute for a family members birthday after being let down by another local business. China Kitchen was more than happy to accommodate a party of 5 at the last minute, service was excellent and staff helped a member of the group who was lactose intolerant avoid food with milk in - going the extra mile to make a special birthday surprise which was also lactose-free! For a last minute booking the decorations and the whole atmosphere was excellent. Oh, and the food is good too!

I would just like to say what a beautiful restaurant. We went tonight as a family of 5 for my sons birthday and couldn't of asked for anything better. The staff were lovely, the food was delicious and we was looked after from the moment we walked through the door. The ice cream /fruit assortment cake was a lovely touch as my son cannot eat diary products and the table was dressed lovely with balloons etc.

W have been several times to the China Kitchen this year and every time we have been the food is well cooked and the staff very friendly. It is great value for money

Over the last 2 weeks I have had several take outs, and I have to say how lovely they have been, fresh tasting, perfect combination of oils and their fried duck and cucumber spring style rolls are a winner too. Always get drinks and prawn crackers thrown in too for free. Thanks highly recommended when you fancy a Chinese takeaway.

Just got back from China kitchen, yet again the food was absolutely fabulous and yes we totally over ordered. The service was also brilliant, there were nine of us with three birthdays . We were made to feel really welcome and they had gone out of there way to decorate the table and made it a real celebration with the manager/ owner being brilliant with the kids !!. So a big thanks to all at the restaurant and we can't wait to come again !!!

Wow can't recommend this place highly enough. The service was excellent as was the food. We can't wait to visit again. Definitely the best Chinese restaurant we've been to in a long time.

Wow where do I start booked a table for 9 to celebrate my sons 13th birthday and from the minute we walked in and he saw the decorated table with balloons, banners and party poppers to the special birthday drink through to the amazing ice cream cake and finished off with his little goodie bag he didn't stop smiling all night .Made to feel really special and the food and attentive staff just made it all the more great even the birthday boys 2 younger brothers were given goodies . Price reasonable all staff brilliant and the boys are already planning our return .Thanks China kitchen for making my sons 13th one I know he'll remember :-)

Very quick take away service matched with quality food and very reasonable prices. The A1 is a winner. They always seem to give you a free bag of prawn crackers and a coke as well.

I had booked a takeaway delivery for my partner as a special surprise (we don't have takeaway very often) and gave them over 1 hour notice for the delivery at a specific time. When it hadn't arrived and now my partner was home and it had spoiled the surprise, I rang and was told it would be delivered within 10 minutes. 20 mins later I rang again and was told it was on it's way but I wasn't the first drop for deliveries!! I then told them I expected a discount because of the extremely poor service and was offered 10% and no more. I then cancelled the order and was told "but it's on the way". The delivery turned up in the next 5 minutes and I told them that unless they were prepared give me a much greater discount now as it was nearly 2 hours since I ordered the food they could take it back. They offered me 20% discount which in my opinion was now an insult. So they would rather throw the food away and have one very unhappy customer than accept their failing!! I could hear in the background that the restaurant was very busy so I concluded that they have more than enough business on site to bother with delivery customers and don't give a hoot!! This was my first experience of this restaurant and will be the last!!!!

This was a total surprise to me all my friends had arrange it was fab,what a lovely restaurant China kitchen is,food was superb,we ordered a variety of dishes and plenty of wine,which was very nice,the food was very good indeed,I ordered the lamb in satay sauce and had the mushrooms in chilli was so good,I don't live local but when I return to woodham I will definitely come here again,staff couldn't do enough for us,it was my birthday and they sung to me,gave us all shots,miniature wine each and a bottle of bubbly for us to take home,was such a lovely kind gesture,many thanks China kitchen 10/10

We used the delivery service because our usual restaurant doesn't open on a Monday and just ordered some standard dishes, as there's no online menu. We were impressed with the flavours and size of the portions - couldn't finish them! Will definitely be using China Kitchen in future - so much better in all respects than the Golden Pearl in Bicknacre. Looking forward to eating in, soon.

I was recommended here and they wasn't wrong when they said how lovely it is !Me & the boyfriend had a lovely meal here tonight, very attentive staff, very quick at bringing our prawn crackers and taking a drink order, food came out in good time considering how busy it was in there as well as takeaways on the go! Food very hot, tasty and all good presentation ! was given ice cream & coffee on the house which we was really surprised about, even more surprised after we payed they brought over a small bottle of beer and small wine to take home on the house also! we shall be returning and recommending to other people!

In such a small place Woodham Ferrers I mean is this little gem, from the moment we walked in to the moment we left everything was perfect...the staff are friendly, professional and so efficient....the food has to be the best I have had in the UK....just everything about this place is outstanding. My family and I booked the restaurant for my nephews 18th, having eaten there before and enjoying the food, service and ambience it was only right to revisit. Well what can I say, the manager couldn't do enough to help and frequently came over to check up and ensure everything was o.k without being too over the top and even though her restaurant was full of other diners, she was very attentive towards the children and guests going out of her way to make this an enjoyable experience.Thank you to all staff involved for being part of an effective team.I'll happily recommend this restaurant to friends/family and colleagues.

I live nearby but have never visited china kitchen before (indian addict). myself & my friend decided to have a change from our usual indian & pop in tonight (Friday night). the restaurant was full but we were seated within 10 minutes. drinks delivered to our table & after studying the menu we decided on mushroom curry, beef chow mein, rice, seaweed & sweet & sour chicken. the food arrived promptly piping hot. was absolutely delicious!! the staff were friendly & attentive. could not have asked for more - a local meal out. our bill came to about £50.....including our food & a bottle of wine (although soda water was charged for at £1.60 which is a bit cheeky). will definitely be returning & recommending - many thanks

Wonderfully friendly service, staff extremely attentive, willing and wanting to make your visit memorable and hassle free. Food was delicious, well presented and value for money,. Would I visit again? Definitely!

This is a mega find the service was great (although some of the staff were new the owner corrected mistakes) the food was on another level, portions are massive but at no point did that compromise the quality. It was to die for, recommend to any one. !!!

All is said in the title. Come there really often and never disappointed. Both the food and the service are great.Moreover, the takeaway is super quick (15min wait in average).Definitely recommend!(Their honey pork is amazing!!)

The food in the restaurant is excellent and why I will forgive the odd little glitch with the service. I have eaten in the restaurant and had takeaway many times and have always experienced the same quality food. If you have a special occasion they will decorate the table and usually bring out a desert with candles at the end of your meal which is a nice touch.This place is popular (not surprising with the food) so you can have a wait for takeaway so would advise not leaving it till the last minute if you can help it at busy times.On my last visit we had a table booked but it was not available when we arrived. The owner/manager asked it we could wait 30 minutes and was very apologetic so we agreed and had a quick drink elsewhere. Our table was available when we arrived back and we received 50% off the bill, which for a small wait was very generous.The staff are very attentive in the restaurant so you don't have to wait long for extra drinks or to order.

Home late one night and took pot luck on Google for a Chinese restaurant that would deliver. Best Crispy Duck I've had in a Chinese ... was actually crispy. Everything else was really nice and slightly spicier then other Chinese restaurants ... which for me is good.

Came here tonight for my sons 6th Birthday, and had an amazing time! Arrived and they had set the table up with balloons, confetti and party poppers, which he was really happy with! They brought him over his own birthday cocktail too. The food was amazing, and of such good quality, just the right amount, and a nice amount of time between courses. We weren't rushed at all and ended up being in there almost 3 hours! Staff are attentive and literally can't do enough for you!! Constantine the young boy our waiter was lovely too. The thing that really stood out was the fact that we didn't order dessert, however the lady brought out a huge plate of ice cream and sweets and plates for us all, along with a birthday present for Ted and Easter chocolate for my other little boy! Really didn't expect that, such a lovely thoughtful gesture!! They really do go above and beyond..oh and I almost forgot the plate of chocolates and fortune cookies, plus beer and wine to take home! Highly highly recommend.. I've eaten here before but not for a birthday, but definitely will again! Thank you for a lovely evening xxx

Booked on the night and they were very accommodating.We all had starters and main meals. The food was served very quickly and all the staff very helpful, plenty of staff and all were very good. Food was wonderful and well worth a visit.

Good food and great set menus. Service is good, if not sometimes a bit intrusive. But cannot fault them for a good evening out and lots to eat.

My partner and I visited for Valentines Day and were not disappointed. The staff were incredibly accommodating, friendly and attentive. The food was excellent - we opted for Set Menu A (but were very pleased that they were willing to make some substitutions as my partner doesn't eat meat). We didn't feel at all rushed through our meal and were even able to take a short break between each course, which was very welcome! Coming on Valentines Day, nothing was spared to make it feel like a special occasion. There were drinks and a rose already on the table when we arrived and complimentary ice cream and coffee after the meal. Having only recently moved to South Woodham Ferrers we are in the process of trying out the local restaurants. China Kitchen is far and away the best so far. We will be back.

Three generations of our family celebrate birthdays in the same month - we chose a middling weekend (also fell on Chinese New Year) and booked a table for 8 as we also had visiting family from Australia. We know from previous experience to let the restaurant know about birthdays etc as they actually really go our of their way to decorate the tables and supply balloons etc all free of charge! So the table looked great (free cocktail type drinks for the birthday guys) and it was very busy even quite early on - but service was always friendly and attentive. We just forgot how huge those portions were and had to take some home. Really - starters were main sized, and one 'main' will often easily feed two (Maybe not the scallops - I ate all mine the black bean sauce is fab!) and so the value for money is good - if you don't over order. Too full to order desert the staff gave us a lovely platter of ice cream/sweets/fruit to have (Free) along with free take home bottles of drinks and party bags fro the celebrants. As a venue it's great fun, a nice buzzy atmosphere, and the great thing is the food is also superb! Meat Fish Vegetarian all catered for with a vast menu. So for great celebrations this is our family choice every time! My biggest problem is getting the kids to stop eating when they are full - they love the taste so much and are so spoiled by staff they just over do it sometimes...but if you can know your limits this is the top Chinese for us for miles around.

Went with friends on Saturday night having previously booked a table. Got there and no tables were available so they set up a table squashed between two others. Manic with two separate birthday parties going on.Food was good though and would definitely eat there again.

Great place to eat, slightly more expensive (per main meal item ) than some other Chinese restaurants, but don't let that put you off! I was little surprised at the costs on the meal options, but it didn't break the bank. We had the Hors d'oeuvre for 4 (Option A), a main dish each, 2 different noodles and 2 rice options for all of us to pick at. With a round of drinks - total bill was £100. Not bad when you see the size of the food brought to the table - we didn't manage to finish all of the food, but I can honestly say, it was great food. There were 3 young waiters and a lady manager; the young lads attention to detail and customer interaction was fantastic and the courses were served with consideration of your stomach, not their wish to see you out of the door!This is certainly somewhere I will be going back to - the food is clearly very fresh, served on plate warmers and the attention from the staff is great. Nothing is too much bother and even with messy eaters of Chinese like myself (nothing more fiddly than rice/noodles with chopsticks!) doesn't faze them... Value for money - YESService - Very customer focusedFood - freshly cooked, with a little panache thrown in!

normally a great restaurant and take away option, but waited IN THE LOBBY for over an hour just before Xmas to pick up a take away that was supposed to be 20 minutes. they were too busy to cope, yet kept taking new orders by the phone. a lack of customer attention, broken time promises, and ultimately food that went to waste - it was too late to enjoy it.ii proase where I see good service, but need to call it when it goes as wrong as this! put more exerienced staff on the counter, face your problems and dont get greedy! it may not hurt your business, but I am abandoning you for January. as an estimate, that is over £100 of business lost - I wonder how many others feel the same way??

We ordered takeaway from here last night, and although the wait was long due to the New Year, the staff we spoke to were lovely and the food was delicious.

The vermicelli we had might actually be the best ever. Staff very attentive, food excellent. They are coping well even with a full house.

Best Chinese in town Always a warm welcome & food consistently good. Always worth a visit & be careful you will keep going back!!

If you live within driving distance of South Woodham Ferrers, make a point of eating at this restaurant. Parking is easy (Asda is just round the corner).It is advisable to book if you are visiting over the weekend.I have eaten here a number of times, and I cannot fault any of the food here. I have never had a bad or indifferent meal here. We visited recently, and between four of us ordered a variety of dishes. We thought we would struggle to eat everything, but we didn't!Everything was fresh, well cooked, spiced and seasoned. Try the Singapore Noodles (chow mein), perfect.The service here is always excellent. Quick, polite and always helpful.As the waitress was clearing our table, she overheard me say that I loved their chopsticks.Within seconds I was given a pair of their chopsticks as a gift. This doesn't sound amazing, but it's typical of the attitude in this restaurant. They make the effort to ensure you come back.Try this restaurant for yourself, I seriously doubt you will be disappointed.
