Mediocre bland food especially when you spend over £30

Love the food from here, specially the all in one trays with meat. Ordered a few times now but tonight is the first complaint. Pork was rather dry and not enough sauce on either meal, normally plenty of sauce to cover everything other times I’ve ordered it and I’ve never had dry pork before. Hopefully it’s just an off day as I do enjoy these meals.

ordered Chicken chow mein mini spring rolls and chips with curry sauce it was all amazing but knocked a point off as the chilli sauce was far too sweet like a bowl of sugar

I ordered online. Food came in good time but the vegetable udon noodles had something in that looked like meat. I called to ask what the ingredients were, incase it was my ordering error, and was told all the veg that was in. When I said mine had meat in I was met with a very rude response. I was repeatedly told there was no meat in this dish, told to check with my fingers not my eyes, to pick it out and was basically accused of lying. There was no interest in my complaint and I was then rudely told they had customers to deal with and had to go (I did reply that I AM a customer but this seemed unimportant to them). I called back 10 mins later and said I was not happy with their rudness and still had something I can't eat that is paid for (for context, I am vegan). Eventually they asked me to send photos, which I did. On the 3rd call, they rang me and said it's definitely not meat, it's maybe egg (there is no egg in this dish and it was definitely NOT egg) but they didnt actually know. They reluctantly offered to cook me a new dish but it was already 10pm by this point and everyone else had eaten. I was then told to ask for a refund on Just Eat and got a dismissive "sorry about that". I still don't know what was.in my food!! I will never use this place again as the customer service is appalling. Just admit you messed up next time, it happens!! I'd add photos if I could.

Veg udon noodles, came with meat in (vegan house). Call 1 - asked ingredients and said there was meat in mine. Rudely dismissed, argued with, told " Check with hands, not eyes, pick it out" and told other customer's needed attention! Call 2- I asked to send photos. Call 3 - still refused to accept it was meat but didn't know what it was, possibly egg (it was skin, not egg). Reluctant offer of a new dish but was so late by this point I asked for refund on Just Eat. Very bad experience!

Do NOT waste quid….. Disgusting foods, fry dishes is only mixed soya sauce but without fresh frying it. ONE star is more than enough to get it😱😱😱

the sweet and sour was very dry considering its supposed to come in a sauce. seriously lacking in vegetables aswell and even though there was loads of chicken it was seriously tough. such a shame as food usually great from here but what I got was definitely reheated food or very very poor quality ingredients. gutted.

made order by mistake.. wish id checked which restaurant... it's less than half a mile away and they were 45 mins late so 95 mins from order to delivery.....never ordering again. will double check in future to make sure I don't order from here anymore.

Great! The food was delicious, a little more expensive than others, but you get what you pay for; great quality and large portions. 5star hygiene rating is an added bonus (rare to find these days). We will definitely be back.

Food was lovely but actually it was Not what we ordered.

Noodles that come with dishes are with onions etc which is always a bonus for us. Sweet and sour sauce is a bit too sweet but still nice. Honey chilli sauce is absolutely incredible. Haven't had a bad dish yet.

The food I have had tonight is the most beautiful and perfectly cooked food I have had for years . Out of this world and so amazingly tasty. Wow. Thank you very very much 😊. Very pleased and very highly recommend 👌

Absolutely shocking! Do not order from here waited 2 hours and still no food despite it saying it left the shop after the first hour. Rang the shop and the woman on the phone was absolutely clueless, no idea where the manager was or how to contact the delivery driver! Pathetic

Food was beautiful. I had chow mein with black bean sauce and the kids had two mixed house special all in one trays. Absolutely beautiful. Will order again no problem.

Lovely as always, except the chips which weren’t that great this time. However the rest was lovely. Like the new curry sauce. Just wish with the main dishes you offered half portions for half the price as there’s always too much.

Duck pancake came with no veg or sauce I phoned shop to complain got laughed at by young girl on the phone but rest of order did turn up but my duck was cold by the time delivery arrived customer service was absolutely shocking

Piping hot, really lovely food as always. Like the new curry sauce! It was lush and first time trying the crispy seaweed which was amazing. Just wish they did smaller portions for half the price as always far too much, but it does for leftovers

A shame as we tend to go to china garden every so often for their crispy chicken seaweed. We went for something different today and the noodles were well over cooked and you can tell the meat is cheap. Not usually an issue but it is when it is £30 for two mains.

Absolutely amazing foo! I live a little bit further away then birtley and the food was red hot when it got to my door couldn’t fault it in any way very happy 😃

Second time ordering, we live a bit further out and with it being New Years day thought it would take ages, it was earlier than it said food piping hot it was absolutely gorgeous! We tried the Salt and pepper chicken wings this time which were lovely. Thank you!

Food was super late, ordered at 7pm and didn’t arrive until 9.30pm. When it arrived it was cold. Very disappointed.

I haven't tasted the food yet as its still not arrived. Usually the food is very tasty so have given a 4 out of 5. The app suggested it would be with me by 8:10 and its now 9:30pm. It's now showing a delivery tick at 19:55 but I am still waiting at 9:30pm. When eventually I get through I'm informed there is only one driver and they are busier than expected. However there has been no communication with me that my order would be delayed. No chance for me to cancel the order due to the lateness of delivery. An apology from staff but really I now don't want to eat this late so have paid for a meal I won't be eating. Better communication in busy times is needed.

Food was delicious but the ribs, plain and salt and pepper were over cooked and quite dry as were the chicken satay starter. While tasty they were a challenge to eat. This is not normal for China Garden and wanted them to be aware of the issue. The house fried rice, duck, spring rolls and prawn toast and hot and sour soup were excellent

Missing item (this seems to happen a lot). Rest of the food was nice apart from the oyster sauce which was extremely salty. Disappointed the chips were missing as we ordered them to go with a curry sauce for our kids. A shame as we like the food but it's happened too often now so will likely look elsewhere.

Be warned this place is really slow at delivering so maybe order an hour or so before you think you're gonna want it However the food is lush when it dors arrive. .

I had to send my son to collect this order. It wasn’t until it was late by circa 10 mins, that I was id gave to come and collect as they where busy with no drivers. appalling as we’d already waited an done time .

Ordered food 2 hours ago and it’s still not here. Rang the shop and without checking my address or my order I was told “we’re waiting for the driver, you’re the next order”… how do they know that if they don’t know my address of order. Can’t comment on the food and by the time it arrives I’ll probably have died of starvation. If you fancy a Chinese one night, make sure you order 72 hours in advance to ensure timely delivery

Normally a lovely Chinese. Food was just warm when it got here. Chips were hard, cold and like cardboard, absolutely rotten.

Gorgeous as always! Arrived really fast, piping hot! Lush shredded salt and pepper chicken, curry sauce, fried rice, chips and prawn crackers. All really tasty and good quality. And LOADS! Thank you :-) the only Chinese I have used for years and no issues

Delivery driver was knocking on wrong door, didn’t ring me to confirm address, my neighbour had to ring me and say they were knocking at the wrong door, chicken in both of our meals was so tough you could barely get a knife through it never mind trying to chew it,no flavour in any of the sauces, my daughter got noodles, chips and gravy, the gravy looked like it had been sat there then just reheated it was that thick and lumpy, complete waste of £36 and will not be ordering again.

Ordered tonight on the app. Takeaway happy to take money (£40) and not deliver. After 2 hours and numerous calls to question it we then had to go collect the food, the "manager" was extremely rude, told me to get a refund via the app and get out his shop. He refused the refund even though it was their fault. Called back up to question the refund and he was again extremely rude and hung up on me. Very bad customer service.

Fresh, hot and as tasty as always

Got an e mail saying free delivery Thursday- was charged £2.50 - apart from that - all ok

Was disappointed tonight.. usually have no problems and gutted. Got aromatic duck and i hardley had much duck it mostly had bones in more than meat. Then the chicken and plum sauce tasted very fatty. Delivery was early which was great and with the bones i almost choked on one of them. So sorry but i needed to review this as i never usually have problems and if i didn’t almost choke on one of the bones i would of been ok.

Food was nice. I made a bit of an odd request, that I didn’t think would he followed, but it was and I was very thankful. Kindness goes a long way, I won’t use a different Chinese now!

Munchie box was nice plenty of different things in there glad there was no rice in there and delivery was really fast

The food from here is just so good. Only one gripe & not sure if it’s a Just Eat thing or the restaurant itself. The portion size is really large & order a main on the app requires you to order a side of chips, fried rice or whatever. No option to order 1 side portion that I can see for 2 mains. Other than that I cannot empathise enough on how good the quality of food from here. Be ordering again regardless on the wastage
