China Express in Plymouth

Quite simply the best Chinese takeaway. Friendly staff when ordering, quick delivery. The food is perfectly cooked and delicious.(and you won't find a better crispy chilli beef!) Delivery to Plymstock too. Will be using again (and again).

This was my favorite Chinese and I have ordered lots of food from them. I have found since they changed there rice suppliers back when covid hit the food has suffered. I have stuck by them but the last 5 times I have ordered the food has been horrible I don't think I will order from here again. My last order was over £30 and I feel like I wasted my money 😒

I use to order from here but due to moving we changed - I completely regret that decision - the usual was closed and thought let’s go back - we were not disappointed - Absolutely outstanding food . Was piping hot , delicious and so much of it . Couldn’t recommend enough and won’t be making the mistake again of leaving . Thanks guys <3

The shop is clean, they also provide newspapers and magazines while you wait. Fast service, only waited 10 mins for my food. Affordable prices and not as overpriced as most Chinese takeaways in Plymouth. They accept both cash and card. Food quality is amazing and very tasty.. hands down currently my favourite takeaway in Plymouth. Always come back for their shredded beef and fried rice! Highly recommend! Don't listen to the Karens leaving bad reviews!

Service was good from the counter but the food and the health and safety is a massive issue as I have reported this company for standard of food. It was cold and undercooked. The following day I suffered from continuous piles and diarrhoea and could see the food in my toilet and it lasted for 3 days. Will not be going back again!

Sweet and sour chicken balls and rice are always spot on

The prices are lower than elsewhere, however do not let that trick you, because the quality and the service is so much better! The crispy chilli beef melted in my mouth and the vermicelli is cooked with love, I could taste it, so good. Should definitely try the hot and sour soup ( no prawn if you don’t like seafood ). They will be getting another visit from me for sure.

I really can't beilive I'm actually going online to write a review 😂 food was diabolical ordered Cantonese style chicken(deep fried) yeah that came as plain chicken in a tub of black sauce and about 3 onions lol I also ordered sweet and sour chicken balls but your sweet and sour sauce has a grey/black tint to it...i can't beilive I'm writing this But I have just finished work and this diabolical order turns up 😂 I though maybe the beef chow main would salvage the order but I take a bite and it's sour....... Like how can chow main noodles be sour...... Genuinely lost for words... Guessing the chef was having a bad day 0/10 would never go back and only ordered because you had a 4.4 rating no idea how you got that 😂😂😂

Had bbq spare ribs tonight, absolutely disgusting, paid £5.00 basically for a box of 5 bones, hardly any meat or sauce, disgusting.

I usually love their food, especially their rice. But tonight, the rice was dry, my chicken greasy, the crab ragoon, were hollow and even my fortune cookie was stale. The two stars are for my husbands meal, he sad “wasn’t bad,” very disappointed.

This is my local Chinese and have ordered here many times. Food is amazing, great portions and never had a bad meal!

Just moved to Plymouth pl4 and went by Google reviews. Well.... Either I'm used t something cooked by a Chinese person that tastes of Chinese or maybe nobody who reviewed this had actually eaten there. Vile vile vile. Went in the bin. It's fast I'll give them that but completely inedible. Go somewhere else..... Anywhere... Even your local crematorium!

When my usual Chinese take away closed down I tried this one , have been three times now and am really pleased, lovely food,quick service, decent portion size and piping hot , great selection on menu and the special chips are to die for . Excellent takeaway highly recommended.

I have ordered from here a few times before and have gone back because the food was delicious but on this occasion I was very disappointed. Some of the food ordered was greasy and inedible, 2 of the 3 pots of sauce were split and emptied all over the other food also. It's a shame because it has been nice in the past.

Normally 5 stars but I asked for cheese and mushroom and didn't get cheese but charged an extra pound to have cheese grrrr I love this Chinese too .as the flavours is lush but not today :-(

We've used China Express for a very long time and wouldn't order from any other. The food is great and on this occasion 14 minutes from order to door! Piping hot!

Order from here on a regular basis whenever me and my boyfriend want Chinese. Everything I've had tastes amazing and always come back for more.

Piping hot and non greasy. Our tummies said to stop eating but our mouths said otherwise!

The only fault was the sweet and sour sauce was squashed and spilled all over the takeaway containers so we had very little sauce for our sweet and sour chicken balls. Personal preference would be to add spring onion to the King prawn fried rice then I would order again and again.

I placed my order at 18:40 and it was estimated by Just Eat that it would arrive at 19:40. My order still hadn't arrived at 8:00 so I rang to chase it up (my flat is difficult to find - I wanted to make sure the driver wasn't lost). I was assured that it was out for delivery and would be with me soon. Another 20 minutes later and it still hadn't showed up. I called the restaurant again. Their response was "you only JUST called us." According to my phone log, I had called 19 minutes before my second call... But okay then - I was assured again that it would be with me soon. Sure enough, it was with me within the next 10 mins or so. No apology from driver or restaurant what so ever. I understand that Just Eat probably set the delivery time... But still, I placed my order at 18:50 for it to show up at 20:30. Food tasted good. It filled the hangry hole that had developed over the 2 hour wait. I will not be ordering from China Express again due to the poor customer service I received and that late delivery time.

Really nice food but didn’t really want to order as much as I had to for delivery plus only 2 minutes away for 2.50 delivery bit off a rip off tbh but food I ate was lovely

I've used this take away since I was in my teens (I'm over 40 now!) That's how good they are! Never had any issues with orders, surprisingly swift delivery and I've no problems in recommending China Express.

I have used this takeaway many times, for years before just eat started ordering direct. food is always good. on this occasion the delivery was 35 min late despite it being pre ordered at around 15.30. the response when I rang was not good "its on its way" no reason for the late delivery. Would seem the owners need to get a grip as I will give another chance but any repeat would mean no further orders.

never had a problem before always rave about how good china express are but tonight food not to their usual high standards and we had to call and complain as part of our order was missing. normally would give 10/10 but tonight would only be 3/10.

The food was lovely however unfortunately it went past the time that my food was due to be delivered so I left it 15 mins and called the restaurant to be told that they hadn't even started to cook our food yet and we would receive it within half hour, we still had to wait for a furthur 45 minutes before our food was delivered! No discount given and a poor apology, very unhappy with the service received which is a shame as the food was great i will not be a returning customer for this reason, I did say I would have been more happy had they called to inform me my order was delayed as my number was on the order however no call was made and they did not change the estimated delivery time on just eat so from ordering to reciving was over 2 hours which is just not acceptable without informing the customer yourself

They left out for chicken chow mein and thvy wood not deliver it to as missing some food

Chicken balls were over cooked with minimal chicken, mainly batter. S&s sauce tasted more like a strange gravy! Prawn toasts were soggy but appeared burnt - not sure how! Special rice dish with meats etc was tasteless and rice not quite cooked.

crispy chilli beef not very spicy or beefy more just crispy... the delivery driver made us come out to the front of the block of flats and not my front door.

Order was wrong and received no prawns called and refused to give us the prawn meal that we no was missing we paid 30.00 pound and no alpolgy. No refund . And it was upsetting for a lovely evening will not go back shame as nice food

The pancake roll was too big and very greasy. The Beef and Mushroom smelt off to me so I didn’t eat it. I ate a small bowl of Mushroom and Pineapple Rice. A waste of £20.90.

Delivered wrong food but told me that I had ordered the wrong food! Their prawn cocktail was prawns, lots of shell and covered in salad cream.....not really prawn cocktail. Tried to get my money back but they were incredibly rude. I was promised a call back from the owner but as you can imagine I'm still waiting 😡😡😡

The absolute legend delivered in torential rain! Still remained calm and professional and wish us a good evening the legend.

On the past two occasions I’ve visited my food has been in excess of ten minutes later than the estimated time on the app, I’d rather a later collection time than just having to sit around waiting. Parking outside can be tricky sometimes so it’s besg just to dash in and collect.

Order was wrong rang up to complain and ask for a replacement, they then didnt bother to send the replacement.when we rang back she said we were liers and didnt ask for replacement, then shouted and screamed down the phone. Appauling customer service never again!!!!!
