China City in Ipswich

The bill was £66 and no way was worth even £10 the chicken balls & prawn balls were uneatable, tasted off. And all the chow mains tasted off to. The only things that were eatable was a pancake roll & the chips. Will never ever order from here again. Had high hopes for this meal but sadly disappointed & out of pocket on food not eatable.

I have been ordering food from here for years. But tonight food not very good I and very very disappointed. The beef in pepper black bean sauce but no black bean sauce. The eggs fried rice very Storey the curry sauce was so thick I had to add hot water to it. I am a very unhappy customer I will have to think very hard if I order again I field that i just put £37 pound down the toilet.

First time ordering, the food was mediocre. The food came right on time. Portions are fairly small for what you are paying for. Most of the food we ordered had too much salt. I am afraid won't be ordering here again.

Terrible, told an hour for delivery, ring up after 1 hour told another 20 minutes, rung again after another 30 minutes told they didn’t know when delivery would be, rude on the phone and terrible service,cancelled order then told driver would still come to house, if I could these a Zero I would, do not use, I have used these before and always been happy, but never again, long flight home from holiday and receive this service

I used to love this place but i started getting missing parts to the order & now it's got far too expensive, priced us out unfortunately!

Delivery was prompt, food was well-packed and hot. Unfortunately it wasn't good at all. Chicken dumplings and salt & pepper king prawns were okay if a bit uninspiring, and the rice was fine. Lemon chicken was extremely slimy and overwhelmed by a rather artificial-tasting lemon sauce. Roast pork was extremely dry. Hot and sour soup was just the liquid - no "bits" at all!

Got way to expensive £45 for 2 soups chowmain egg f rice n chips and pawn on toast won't be coming here again cheaper go chinese buffet

Normally great food, but this time and when we normally put a order in we ask for chicken curry with rice, without the peas, but instead we got the peas but no chicken, I found it funny considering its a chicken curry, minus the chicken. They sent the order out again, this time minus the rice. Not a good for them

Food is amazing highly recommend always arrives nice and hot drivers are polite as well

The food has deteriorated and not as good as it used to be and the portions are a lot smaller for the price. Today bought beef chow main and it was way to salty. So disappointing as I used to love the food. Improvements needed to bring it back to high standards.

Walked in and ordered a crispy beef and rice....and wow when I got home the beef wasn't even all covered in sauce it wasn't crispy all soggy and tasted sour!! Disgusting

Last time i ever order anything from you ..so well done youve lost a customer

The kungpo chicken was nice but the noodles were dry and bland the rice was over cooked and no one had the curry sauce as it was soooo sweet it was awful wouldn't recommend this place to anyone based on my experience and the portions are small.

This place was odd. Weirdest of all was they'd only accept payment via BANK TRANSFER? No card! The food was exceptionally expensive for the small portions we received - far less than you'd get from a cheaper Chinese takeaway. I'm not sure if the good reviews here are faked, but the bad ones are truly damning. I definitely wouldn't buy here again, in part due to the expensive small portions, but especially because of the odd bank transfer thing. I don't want to have to do a shifty bank transfer (and all the necessary security checks with my bank) just to buy some food. Seemed very suspicious to me.

Just moved into the area and had tried another Chinese take out but wasn’t overly impressed. Read the reviews on here for China city and was really put off. Thank goodness we decided to give them a try. We had honey pork, chicken chow mien, S&S prawns and chips. It was delivered on time. Very hot and was really lovely. Could not fault a thing. We will definitely be using this again . Thank you

Best Chinese Takeaway in Ipswich

Ordered food at 19:45, now 21:20 and still no food. Told an hour and a half ago our order was being put to the top of the list. Shocking, why keep taking orders when you can't handle it!

avoid .ordered food 21st December .rice on both dishes come cold tried to ring no answer.rang tonite to order again spoke to some rude man on phone explained what happened on the 21st laughed at me saying it's impossible for the rice to be cold .such a shame as always used them in past and food was good but not anymore

Ordered and paid online in the morning. Usually not a problem. However this time I called when meal was 30 minutes late and was told they couldn't find the order, then they found it and said it was the kitchens fault and I would receive my meal in 10 minutes. 15 minutes later I called again, lady on the phone was not really interested (nothing to do with her), said it was the kitchens fault. I emailed the company to complaint and have heard nothing. This restaurant is now dead to me.

Well. Best food in town is a lie. I ordered a thia meal. There must have been 4 chillies in it. Totally un edible. The rice was bland with only prawn and loads of chicken. Not sure what happened to the rest of it. Not nice. Expensive. Never again.

Appalling!!! Having to wait over 80 mins from when the order was placed is long enough but given the current circumstances we decided to be considerate & wait ...We regularly tracked our order & as it approached the delivery time the order status was still at ‘Cooking’ obviously concerned that this was still being prepared when should have been delivered & there was no stays update & no method of contact provided as their phone lines constantly state ‘mail box full’ it doesn’t even ring! I had no choice but to drive to the front door to see what was going on. I arrive with my order number and after 6 mins of questioning and toing & throwing was told our food left 10 mins ago! No apology for delay, lack of communication, failing customer expectations, incorrect order info, way of contact or acknowledgement of poor customer service...NOTHING... will reconsider when ordering again

Been 2.5 hours so far and still no food! I’ve called twice and on the last call she said it was on it’s way which is just over a mile away and that was 25 minutes ago. Absolute joke think I may have to stop using them as this isn’t the first time it’s been over 2 hours for delivery

Stay clear of these jokers..took my money but didn't deliver the food, then try say that dont know where the order went..which makes no sense. If u didn't take the order then dont take the money!

Fingernail found in the crispy shredded beef, Mr Li/Lee choose to be rude and threaten to report us to the police if we came into the shop as he refused to deal with it over the phone. DO NOT ORDER FROM HERE!!

Don’t use! They advertise stuff on the menu then send something completely different. They’re rude as well.

Been ordering from here for 10 years and food is consistently good. Recently, they went down hill massively, especially the rude staff. However, I'm here to say they've improved massively. The food has been great - but we do literally only live around the corner. Give them another chance, but don't order from remote locations - collect if you can.

Delivery took over an hour, when it arrived it was cold. The food arrived completely soaked in meat juice from another dish, meaning I couldn't eat the vegetarian dishes I had ordered! The chips were so soaked the bag was falling apart. It was disgusting. Took an argument over the phone (man was very rude, answered with "yeh?" And was very uninterested) and 3 separate phone calls to get a refund and was told I'd be given my money back "when someones in the area" I ordered from just eat and they were less than helpful too. Said they conducted an investigation (takes 12 hours apparently) only to say I'd paid cash so they couldn't do anything. Don't order from here if you want good food or good service.

Hygiene is awful, food is usually pissing everywhere, got food poisoning from one of their meat dishes, find another Chinese this place is dreadful!!!!!! Honestly save your money

Rude staff at counter when I asked if the place was open was told "everywhere open at 5" by a surly geezer in a t-shirt who then turned his back on me. I walked out and won't return again.

Ordered takeaway delivery from these guys, food arrived with sweet and sour sauce dripping through two plastic bags onto the floor like the it had literally been thrown together. Will never order again. Would give 0 stars if possible. So enjoy your 1 free star.

Had some issue's with a couple of order's

We've had several takeaways previously and they have been very good but tonight's food was awful. The stir fried vegetables were really overcooked, soggy and flavourless, the spring rolls had nothing in them - they were literally flat! The three dishes we ordered all tasted the same except for the one with chilli in it. The chicken is just cut squares of cooked chicken flesh. I am sitting here with food that's going into the bin after paying nearly £40.00 and waiting over an hour for a home delivery. I've rung to complain and got an apology and 'we always cook them the dishes the same' but that was it. Won't be ordering again from here. Maybe they have changed the chef??

Quite possibly the worst chinese I have had. Over an hour wait for delivery. I order stir fried bamboo shoots and water chestnuts...when it arrived it was just bamboo shoots. I rang up and they said they don’t put water chestnuts in the dish anymore yet it is on the menu as “stir fried bamboo shoots and water chestnuts”. The food wasn’t hot at all. Horrible. No apology for the long delivery either.

Guy on the front desk was so rude and grumpy and definitely should not be working with customers. I simply asked if their chicken is halal and recieved such a shocking, borderline racist and agressive response from him. So unprofessional. Will never step foot in that horrible takeaway again. Was left absolutely speechless at his response and awful attitude

Food has dropped a little bit I think but generally is ok however as other customers have written telephone manners of the guy is shocking, bring back that lovely friendly girl who was so polite.... so it's time to move on and to change this was my last order.

Food was just about warm the Hong Kong chicken tasted like a tub of vinegar had been added to it and wasn’t very appealing, only 2 of the 5 ribs actullay had meat on worth eating. Another disappointing Chinese takeaway

Added 20 minutes to the order, marked it as delivered when it hadn't even left and 40 minutes late overall. No apology from the driver. My coke is missing from the order, and the food has gone seriously downhill since my last order- why does your sweet and sour taste like banana? Yuck!

Asked for it to be delivered at 9:30, said in the comments please do not delivery any earlier as no one will be in and the delivered it 20 minutes early. Luckily I was home early but the rest pf my family weren’t home which meant it was cold by the time they were actually home. Other than that the food was amazing, one of the best in Ipswich.

Waiting over 2 hours for food to arrive but the food was brilliant.

Our food was due to be delivered at 20:30 and didn’t arrived until 21:30. I was attempting to call the restaurant at 20:45 and they were busy until 21:20 when I finally got through to them. Only to be told that we would not be getting anything free or any apology for having to wait so long for the order. I will not be ordering from this Chinese again as they cellar cannot handle a big order on a Saturday night.

Was advised to collect at 18.05 went round to collect but when I got the food home it was luke warm and not the nicest we've had.

Bitterly disappointed that the packaging was unable to contain the sauces for our main dishes; thusly our cream carpet has born the brunt of a rather vivid orange spillage.

Most of the food was good. But the duck in ginger and spring onion was very disappointing, it had very little duck and very little spring onion. In fact almost all the container was filled with onion. It really put us off the rest of the food.

The food here is always good, however, the service is so hit and miss that it makes ordering just too risky. Called after almost 2 hours to find out where food was. Told it was on it's way. Called again an hour later, obvious from the call that the place was a shambles. Website was still showing deliver 45 - 60 minutes. This clearly was not true. Cannot fault the food, trouble is I was in such a bad mood by the time it got here that I'd lost my appetite. They need to do better. This is not the first time Ive experienced this so it being a holiday is not good excuse.

50 minutes late. Called after 25 to ask what was won't, heard them say in the background that they had lost the order. Person we show to was not sorry, did not offer any reason and did not offer any compensation/refund. Not impressed with service at all, especially for average food. Would have given 0 stars for delivery time and restaurant service if I could.

poor value for money. The rice I ordered was special fried, I thought they sent plain rice, must be the tightest rice in Ipswich the omlelette was allot smaller than when I last ordered but did taste nice and the curry sauce was good. Chips where overdone and tasteless. I wont order again as the rice is poor.
