CHINA at Lees in Christchurch

couldnt even get the order right, asked for chicken fried rice and i got some soggy shit noodles in return

First time I've used them - and it's the last! I ordered beef in black bean sauce, spare ribs, egg fried rice and prawn crackers. The peppers and onions in the beef and bbs were raw (although there was plenty of beef). The egg fried rice was pretty tasteless. But worst of all were the ribs - they were like old shoe leather! The meat should fall off the bone, but this was glued on with cement (I'm pretty sure they were from the day before and left in the oven overnight). Plus they charged £3.20 for the prawn crackers and I've definitely had better. I gave two stars, mainly because the beef was good, but the rest was not!

Horrible. Got lemon chicken and the sauce was so thick and lumpy I didn’t know if I was putting a fork in chicken or lemon sauce . Worst Chinese I ever had. The curry was just brown sauce also. But the lemon chicken was horrendous. Normally order more and thank god I didn’t

Absolutely love this Chinese Takeaway! I've picked up and had deliveries from here about 10 times now since moving to Christchurch! Just can't fault them! Staff are so friendly from the minute you call to dropping off your food. Best Chinese Takeaway I've ever had! The beef and mushroom dish was so delicious!! We have just bought lemon chicken and rice which was tasteless banana fritters we had to throw away as bananas were bruised and bla k inside what a waste of money had to throw them away never again will we go there

Lost its way , obviously trading on past reputation as the quality o the food is now very poor, lots of better in the local area, give it is one a miss!

Absolutely brilliant. I’ve been gluten intolerant for 25 years and I have NEVER walked into a Chinese and had so many options, I’ve also never had enjoyed so many informed staff with so much information about allergens to hand. The food was also then above par for a take away Chinese. Five stars across the board and huge thanks as it was so amazing to be able to eat Chinese food in the knowledge that it was totally gluten free

I've bought a portion of chicken wings and it was out of date. It has a funny taste which I contacted them and they wouldn't do anything about it.

Ordered Chinese , driver rings to tell me he’s on the road , it’s raining I said delivery to the flat please, silence. 10 mins later I ring again he’s says he’s outside, he’s not . I ring China lees who then asks me why I can’t go out (in the rain )to collect I said you are suppose to deliver. He says they can’t find it, I said that I have never had s problem with having food delivered before. I’m then told it’s the chef delivering not a driver, to which I pointed out that we all have sat nav, I was then told I was rude ?! I Cancelled the order and went else where ! Really bad customer service , was my first order and last !!

Best Chinese takeaway around! Been coming here for years and never had a bad meal! Delicious food that is fresh and not too oily. Friendly service and usually good delivery times (can get busy at peak times but that’s expected). Highly recommend!

One of the best Chinese takeaway’s around!! Always very skeptical when moving to a different restaurant then your usual but China at lee’s did not disappoint!! I opted for delivery because it was only £2 which is great!! And it arrived sooner than expected! Great service from a great restaurant! Keep it up!

Ordered a takeaway a couple of days ago whilst we were on a short break at Sandhills. Phoned through the order and it was delivered very promptly. Delicious food, friendly staff and great menu and would not hesitate to order again. Wonderful. Thank you so much!

Local to the take away but they never pick up the phone after always trying for quite a while. Always have to book Chinese a take away elsewhere. Such a shame as food has always been great 😞

Rang at quarter to ten to see if I could pick up a large Chinese. Was told not a problem at all and not a problem to pick up. Arrived and wanted to add salt and pepper chips, this was no problem at all. The young lady on the desk was awesome and took our Chinese out to our car. Ordered salt and pepper chicken and chips, these were bang on but my partner thought a little too much salt. Beef chow mein was tasty and not overly greasy. Chicken Hong Kong style was excellent and loved the nice big chunks of pineapple. Egg fried rice was bang on. All in all a pleasant experience!

Our local and always order from here but not anymore. Sweet n sour pork balls, over cooked, dry & needed a steak knife to cut them open. Inedible. Mongolian lamb was very tough, chewy with rock hard bits. Only half of it was edible. Prawn crackers were a very odd yellow colour and tasted odd. Chips were underdone. Salt & pepper squid & crispy seaweed were the only edible parts of the meal. Won’t bother going back.

Owner very friendly and brought the order to the car after 10 minutes. Had chicken fried rice and spring rolls with a portion of curry sauce. All good.

We were holidaying in this area at a nearby caravan site and spotted Lees’ Chinese takeaway so gave it a try. So glad we did , the staff are polite and offered to bring our food to our car when it was ready. We didn’t have to wait long before our food was ready. Our food was very tasty and cooked to perfection, we had lee’s special fried rice with lee’s special curry & chips we also got given prawn crackers for free. It was so good we went back ordered another takeaway and the crispy shredded beef was beautiful. Will definitely use this takeaway again when we are in the area.

Big order for 8 Really quick. All food was excellent and plenty of it. Service very friendly and cheerful. All very clean

Very RUDE, waited over 3 times longer than advised so asked for a refund, staff were very rude and tried to claim that the refund had been made! However with online banking it was clear that they had not, eventually they did issue a refund but where very rude, plenty of better restaurants in nearby Highcliffe so AVOID CHINA AT LEES MUDEFORD .

Staying in area on holiday and had a family buffet delivered. All enjoyed it and commented on the high standard.

I tried chicken curry and sweet and sour chicken. I've tasted much better. The chicken was a little bit chewy and the sauces weren't very good. I'll give 5 out of 10

Delicious! We got the chicken satay main and egg fried rice and they complimented each other really nicely. Filling, affordable and great service and quality.

The best Chinese takeaway i've ever had and since moving to the area, we have it at least twice a month. The staff are amazing, all the dishes i've tried are excellent and taste fresh and not like other Chinese takeaways i've had in the past. Great selection on Menu, food is always pipping hot. We always call ahead and drive to pick it up because it's a 3 minute drive and the food is usually ready in 10-15 minutes. Highly recommend if you live in the area or are just staying (they do delivery, it's always pipping hot) Thank you guys :)

We have been enjoying there food for a few years now and have always had great service , food and deliveries without fail. Credit where it's due China at Lees is definitely worth trying as you WON'T be disappointed. 5+++++ rated . It's now 2023 and we're still ordering from China at Lees Mudeford 😋👍🏆 absolutely superb

Visited yesterday for the first time for a couple of months. It's still as good as when we previously visited. The next time we're in Christchurch we'll definitely return here.

My first ever visit and not disappointed at all. I did have to wait a while because they were busy but I see that as a positive sign rather than a negative as it must be good and it was. I'd certainly recommend phoning in advance .

I’m not sure if the owners have changed but it’s probably the worst Chinese we have had in years. We have been using this take away for years and it’s now consistently disappointing. It tasted old, reheated and generally disappointed. Really sad because we used to love it.

Got very bad food poisoning on Monday from a takeaway, I am pretty sure due to under cooked chicken in the Lee's Special. Knocked me for six for nearly two days, would never order from here again! Would strongly recommend to avoid!

Have tried it twice .. both times food clearly cooked before and reheated. The second time pork balls over cooked on outside and the pork was dried out inside

I haven't visited for quite some time, unfortunately, the food quality here has decreased considerably from what it once was. Presumably a reflection on now higher produce costs & an effort to maintain profits. Service was always hit & miss, prioritising drunken patrons from the adjacent pub....!!!

Excellent Chinese, we were down on holiday and tried Lees, from initial phone call, I think Rachel,was friendly and helpful, walked round and ordered food and she rang me when it was ready as we were 10 seconds away. Crispy aromatic lamb and duck pancakes were fantastic, sweet and sour king prawn Hong Kong style, chilli crispy beef and special rice were lovely and tasty.

I was worried than an earlier review said it was under new management and portion sizes were smaller. However my prawns in Szechuan Sauce was really great and the portion size didn’t look any smaller - bigger is anything. I enjoyed my meal. Thank you Lees.

Not worth the money. I ordered chicken fried rice which had hardly any chicken in it. Beef chow mein was chewy. Chips were dry. I'm on holiday so wanted to order local but was a wrong choice.

We hire a cottage at mudeford and the food from here is the best we have had ever . Highly recommended

Pretty good Chinese with good clean, premises. Wide menu, choose your protein and add the sauce of your choice. Very friendly and helpful but a decent online menu would be a nice addition. Fast service as well. Once you know the menu telephone is best.

So we usually go to China at lees new milton. We knew they had changed a couple of months ago as the food was different. So someone recommended lee's in mudeford as they said the chefs have gone there. So we tried it. Very dussapointed...

Having lived abroad for a few years we were really looking forward to our Chinese takeaway, and we were not disappointed at all, everything we had was great especially the crispy duck mmm wish we were here longer

We used to use Lee’s all the time, the quality of the meat used to be excellent, however now the chicken is rubbery (frozen bought in) and tasteless like every other Chinese in the area. Very disappointed.

starters must be all pre cooked prawn toast was soft inedible small spring rolls nothing in them (truly) duck pancakes where not cooked it does not say you have to cook them duck it self was ok prawn balls to much batter and soft rest...

Although we live locally, this was the first time we've tried this take-away. Excellent food, great value, good service and clean and tidy surroundings. Will defo come again.

I had a sweet n sour chicken Hong Kong style on the 5 June and was really sick during the night and felt ill a day today when I rang to report it was told hope you feel better and even offered a refund very disappointed and won’t using them again or recommend them

A BREATH OF FRESH AIR!!! I'd given up on takeaways of all types because you received the same old , standard that most Brits will eat after a few pints. Plus I could make it much better myself. China at Lees Mudeford gave me faith again. We had to wait an hour for our food which says something good right away. The wait was worth it!! Beautifully flavoured/spiced food with an abundance of its star ingredients and plenty of extras/veg. I'm glad this place isn't on my doorstep as I'd be buying their great food every other day. Other takeaways (chinese and Indian) must strive to achieve these standards instead of the same ol identa-meals.

All covid guidelines being followed and once I had place my order our meal was bought very quickly to our car. Food was piping hot and very tasty with free prawn crackers thrown in. Will definitely use again

I have ordered from China at lees on many of occasions over the years. food is nice, but can’t take criticism if you are dissatisfied with your meal! even if you ask for anything different which is not on the menu, they are not happy to compromise! Staff are rude obnoxious!

Well where do we start... food ordered 6.20 finally delivered at 820 after a phone call chasing it. Ordered salt and pepper chicken and got chips! Fried rice was boiled rice with peas in it... sweet and sour had no taste. Chow mein swimming in...

Very fresh and clean food, just strange as as all the dishes were completely different to all the Chinese restaurants we have eaten in before. Not that the food was bad, just different.

A huge selection of dishes available, presented in a slightly different way to that I was used to. However, once understood the ordering was straight forward.Excellent service with little delay on a busy evening. Good food, all the meats were of good quality in the various dishes.

I have very high standards for Chinese food having lived there for 4 years. As British chinese takeaways go this is a pretty good place. The soup was slightly watery however the rest of the food was very tasty. Would recommend as a takeout night spot, delivery was fast

Was a very good takeaway, but sadly the food now has an unpleasant tang to it - is it old oil/fat? It has been like this for some time, I think it may have changed hands.
