Chim's Thai Food in Sutton

Unfortunately having accepted a timed table service from 6-7.30pm on a Friday night we had no idea this would entail having starters snatched from under us before we had barely finished, no space between courses, attempted to rush us out before we had finished our drinks and the worst attitude from waitress who was rude and offered no pleasantries or good energy to make our dinner date feel good. To say we were disappointed is an understatement, unwelcoming and .......give me your money then get out kinda vibe...... we spent £150 in that time between 3 of us and had terrible service despite the food being okay. There attention is on keeping meticulously to the the timed sitting whilst ignoring the customers needs. Service when eating out is everything. Better vibes from a street vendor Underwhelming, left feeling ripped off.

Really impressed with Chim's. Visited on a Sunday evening, sat up at the kitchen counter and had a fantastic experience. The service, food and cocktail(s) were exemplary. Would highly recommend.

I visited this restaurant for the first time this evening with a friend who also lives locally. The service from the waiting staff was excellent, and the menu was inticing. The minced chicken with Thai basil and chilli was the best I’ve ever eaten and incredibly moreish. The purple margaritas were unexpected but delicious. Highly recommended. Book ahead as the restaurant was full by 7pm on a Wednesday evening!

Really tasty Thai food. Big portions and enjoyable. Tempura prawns very enjoyable. Staff very friendly and reasonably priced. Well worth a visit. And going back again and again. 😄

Food was exceptional, best Thai we've had in London. And my partner can only eat gluten-free food and the menu was perfect for her with all of the options clearly marked.

We had looked forward to celebrating our anniversary here (our first visit) and had booked dinner. Even on a Wednesday evening, it was soon full. By mid-evening, there were some noisy groups. Fortunately, we were finished by then. The food was very good, although we found the 'smaller' plates were quite generous. The service was helpful and friendly, until we wanted to leave. Then it took a while to make the payment. I was disappointed that, having informed the restaurant twice by email that it was our anniversary, no mention or acknowledgement was made of this at all, throughout the evening. So lacks the personal touch for me.

Worthy of five stars without a doubt. Lovely ambience, even on a Tuesday it was packed, great food & service. I loved this place in it's former life as Regional Thai but its gone up a notch now, the renovations mean no more tables at the rear & a more modern feel. To top it all my son is coeliac & they had a great selection of gluten free dishes, very informative menu & the staff were knowledgeable & diligent about cross contamination. Thank you Chims, will be back soon.

Wide variety of choices on the menu, plus specials. Friendly staff and good quality food too. Expect to pay about £100 for 2 x three course meals and drinks. Would happily return.

Probably one of the worst meals i have ever eaten, it was that bad my wife started to physcially choke. Salt was used to disguise the poor qualitly meat. Extremely poor food. Out of four meals three were horrific!!!

Took my other half for his birthday. He hadn't been there before wheras I had and I knew he would be in for a treat. He absolutely loved it. Food was excellent and extremely tasty. Staff were friendly, accommodating and efficient. Ambiance was good as well. Chims is a little gem of a place with no faults. Wonderful night. Would definitely recommend you book as place is small but so so worth it.

Wouldn’t go anywhere else for a Thai! Chims smash it out the park every time. Love being able to get a takeaway and that they cater for gluten free people as well. Always delicious, great atmosphere and good value for money!

I go fairly often to Chims and have enjoyed many things on the menu, ranging from Green curry to seabass. Last visit in May was Whole Seabass with Som Tum and Jasmine rice, which was delicous! In April I had a hot seabass curry with Jasmine rice as recommended by the staff and that was wonderful - I forget the name of that dish but the staff will remember and remind me when I want to eat it again.

Went with my famliy (3 kids under 10 - but have had to select "Teens" for some reason...) Lovely friendly service, vegetarian options explained and highlights suggested too. Food was really good - the Tom Yum was exceptional, really spicy and packed with flavour. Augbergine Gra Pow (?) was also nice and we had a variety of other small plates with no weak dishes. Solid cocktails too the Umeshi Old Fashioned was really nice.

A small but beautifully run family restaurant. Food is very tasty and well cooked. The maitre d’ is a perfect host, the waiting staff well trained. Not having many covers it’s essential to book. All that one could expect and hope for a local, family owned restaurant. A true jewel in Cheam.

Absolutely delicious, so many flavours. Lovely cocktails too. I would advise booking as it is quite small but it was very worth it. I will definitely return in the near future.

Had a beautiful meal here. The food was insanely good, lovely cocktails. I had the lychee martini and it was well mixed by someone who obviously knew what they were doing. Too many restaurants just either bung a load of alcohol into a cocktail or make it too sickly. But this was perfect and had a lychee in it. The restaurant itself is small and friendly. We hadn't booked and it was busy. But the hostess got us seated at the window bar. Which was actually really nice to be able to look out. Food was phenomenal. We chose 2 bigger dishes (pad Thai and duck tacos) and then several smaller ones. If you wanted to, you could go there and get a Thai style tapas. Every dish was lovingly made. I literally dont have a single criticism. I wish I had taken more photos of the dishes. Staff are efficient and friendly Would 100% recommend and can't wait to go back again

My friend booked this as we had not seen each other in a while. We arrived early evening and were immediately struck how busy it was. The menu was presented to us and explained in detail. We were a table of two and felt this was cramped and no room to put a bottle of wine on the table. We ordered our food and this quickly arrived. My friend said we had the table for 90 mins. We ate our food, it was nice but, felt very hurried out of the restaurant. We hadn’t even finish eating and they came to ask if we wanted anything else. We were finishing our wine and then the bill landed on the table. The restaurant was busy but, was it necessary to hurry us out even before our time was up. This is very off putting hushing people out. Food is lovely but, if you can’t even digest your meal, what the point in going. This is the reason I would be hesitant in returning to the rustic restaurant.

Visited here last night and loved it! The cocktails are really lovely and a nice take on the classics. We ordered 4 small plates and 2 large plates with rice on the side and this was more than enough food. The service was good, we did have a very minor issue with the prawn crackers we ordered not arriving and having to chase a drinks order, however this didn't impact on the evening or the level of service we received throughout. Everything was delicious and we will definitely be returning to try everything else on the menu! Would definitely recommend booking a bit in advance as the place is not big.

I'm finding it hard to really rate this place. Sorry Chim's. Like the other reviewers mention, portions are VERY small and it's expensive. Eg 4 small dumplings for £8 and a tiny mango salad for £8. The pictures taken make the food portions look big which is deceiving. Flavours were lovely however. We cant fault that. Curries were nice but again very small with tiny iddy bits of cut meat. The roti was very oily and artificial tasting and appeared to be the frozen shop bought type. Anyone who has had homemade asian style breads can see that from a mile off, my husband ate it anyway as he was very hungry. Due to it being a small restaurant the tables are all seated very close to one another and it gets very loud and hot. If you want great value for money with nice surroundings/settings this isnt for you!

We have visited chims several times and every single time every single item of food is absolutely delicious. The duck tacos are delicious as is everything else. Service is good, food is delicious and ambience is great.

Last weekend I visited the new Thai restaurant, Chims, with my family. The food exceeded our expectations and the service, despite the pandemic, was great. I particularly enjoyed the Thai green curry but all of the food was amazing!
