Number One Thai Restaurant in Sutton

Food hit and miss. Massamam curry very bland with little meat swamped by coconut milk. Green curry was delicious. Pad Thai had little flavour with well cooked prawns.

The store itself was very nice. The staff were friendly and the service was good. The store itself is a bit dark. The pad thai was delicious, and the fried bananas and ice cream were also delicious.

Good food & excellent customer service.

They're now open on Monday's. Just hot, delicious & authentic Thai food. Will definitely go again & recommend!. It's on a one way system & free to park after 7pm. We had the special salad as below -spicy & crunchy yummy!

Must concur with the previous reviews. The food really packs some flavour, but so well balanced. The web site said it was closed on Mondays but that’s incorrect. I had the chicken and lychees in a red curry sauce, it was gorgeous. Loved the background music and the decor is funky and very welcoming. Warm and accommodating welcome from the lady on front of house and I’m looking forward to coming again.

My favourite restaurant. The food is fantastic and we always receive excellent service. The vegetarian tom yum soup and Thai green curry is the best I've ever had.

The food arrived promptly but I was a little disappointed. The Penang curry, which should be a relatively dry curry (also, as per their menu!) was basically a soup. The Pad Thai wasnt particularly flavourful and the calamari was soggy. The portion sizes were good, but it was all very expensive, so I'd expect that. Everything was well cooked, but it felt like all the dishes were a bit to Anglicised.

So delicious, hot and really great Thai food. Will be returning again

Lovely little Thai, we visited based on previous reviews. We had mixed starter, great, followed by two salads which were very tasty (and one quiet spicy - ordered medium, caveat emptor 🤣). And banana spring rolls for pudding. Lovely.

We love Thai and this was the best we have ever had, so authentic and very busy so I would book in advance! The staff were so accommodating, helpful and happy whilst serving! So sooo clean too…..Will defo be back next time we are in the area!

Have been going here more than 15 Years, 3 Different owner the present one Mam & Tom the best. All the dishs are freshly prepared you cant wrong. Ignore negative feedback my Wife from thailand so we both know thai food give it a try and you will go back Booking Friday Saturday Advised

Best Thai food I have had in a long time and that was off the gf menu

We stumbled across this restaurant after our was delayed going home to Banstead on a Friday evening. We only moved to the area a few months ago so still exploring what the local restaurants have to offer. We were massively impressed with the food, prices and ambience of the restaurant Food was incredibly tasty and good value. Will definitely come again. Highly recommended.

We come here very regularly for food. Best Thai food in this area. Love the decor and the service. You must try this restaurant to appreciate their food and service.

Small restaurant between Sutton Train station and Holiday Inn. You need to take stairs up one floor to get to the restaurant. Ordered steamed sea bass, Thais ice tea and fried rice. The rice must be order separately from main course. Although steamed sea bass is in the spicy section of the menu, the level of spicy is very bearable for European. I am Asian so it is a mild level. Delicious evening dinner.

Been 6 times after the review below and each time top quality food, service and excellent atmosphere, please book up on their website as the evenings and weekends are very busy as you don't want to be turned away if you come on the off chance. Excellent food, lovely atmosphere and very friendly staff. Went with friends who's daughter was her birthday. The food was amazing and plenty of it, the flavours were really yummy. The restaurant was very busy and buzzing, we bought a birthday cafe along to celebrate best friends daughter's birthday. The owners took the cake and added candles which spelt happy birthday and then switched off the main lights and came out with the cake and candles lit with a couple guys who had hand drums banging away, what an entrance for the daughters birthday. Everyone was cheering and clapping, wonderful atmosphere and a lovely evening out with friends with really tasty food. Plenty of vegetarian options as well as the traditional dishes which also very tasty. The owner came around and had a friendly chat with the customers.

Hidden gem of a place. Cozy and intimate. Went on our anniversary and staff were the best. The food is another level of authentic deliciousness. The Tom Yum soup was to die for, chicken satay coated with coconut was so good on its own, the satay sauce slam dunked it completely. I could go on, but the fact is it’s all so divine it’s hard to put into words! You must try for yourself. I read some bad reviews on here and all I can say is they need to give their heads a wobble

I don't normally go for Thai food but tried this little place. From the outside it doesn't look very special, but inside it is quite cosy. We dined downstairs and service was quick. Food was extremely lovely, got the masaman chicken curry (you have to ask for it to be spicy) and beef with very spicy sauce. We also got garlic mushrooms with a side of rice, food was so good, will come again.

I have been eating from this restaurant for a few years now, I discovered it from working locally. I live in Epsom and I drive there for some good Thai food. I absolutely love it. Their food is fresh and full of flavor. Their prices are good for the portions.

I have been going here for more than 15 years 3 different owners each one better than the one before One or two people have left negative remarks but they dont know Thai food. My wife come from Thailand and she loves it.

It is on the pricier side and the food is good as is the service.

My first time there and I’ll definitely be going back. Was a bit dubious in the beginning, they bought out 2 lemonades which I didn’t ask for but they rectified the mistake and more! Food was actually delicious, I was extremely impressed. I’ve found a new Thai restaurant for life.

Sorry this is bad thai food. I had a very disappointing Pad Thai, it was tasteless. The beef in the Panang curry tasted like boiled beef added later on to the curry. I am amazed by how this place could get 4.6 stars. Giving it 1 star to try to bring down the rating so people would not expect too much.

My first time visiting. Waited 45 minutes for our mains. Granted there was a big group booking, but staff never once checked on us. We ordered the crab rice and pad Thai. Pad Thai was flavourless. We mentioned this to staff and they apologised, but didn’t offer to change it. Also ordered oyster broccoli that was extremely watery. Quite poor service all round.

I went to lunch here today. I ordered a pad Thai told the waiter no egg as I don't not have eggs. When she brought the noodles they were very soggy and clumsy looking when asked the reason she said if you don't want egg that's what you get. And she had the audacity to tell me if you want eat or leave and she took my noodles away. And she says every time you come you say no egg. I was so pissed and confused how else would a person convey their dietary needs like I eat no eggs or I am a vegetarian.The waiter was so rude wish no one will be treated as I was. Ruined my day. Sorry I forgot to click a pic of the food as I walked away as I don't want to be in a place that treat people so bad.

Possibly one of the worst Pad Thais I've ever tried to eat. No chilli whatsoever, Thai food should be hot, spicy and full of flavour. And there was so much carrot, which shouldn't even be in a Pad Thai, it was basically carrot noodles. Tasteless, not even a hint of tamarind. Absolutely awful, I didn't even finish it, and I was hungry. If they served this in Thailand they would be a laughing stock.

Voor echte Thaise sfeer/smaak zeker een aanrader! Menu was voor mij wel iets te uitgebreid, waardoor je lastig kon kiezen wat je wou. Maar kan je zeker de papaya salade en King prawns in tamarinde saus aanraden. Het eten was zo lekker, dat ik helemaal vergeten ben om foto's te maken....zegt genoeg. Zeker voor herhaling vatbaar.

Transports you into Thailand the moment you step into their doors. Authentic food and they don’t mind any customisation if you need. Lots of vegetarian options too.

Walked in, aske for a table for one at 8pm, with visibly plenty of space available. Got told I couldn't sit in and told to order take away instead. Poor customer service and quite an insult to authentic thai hospitality

The food serving was generous the price was reasonable and the aosphere was excellent. I had the pad thai and my girlfriend had the pineapple fried rice, both were tastey and filling. In addition to this we had a starter and dessert and a cheeky cider. The vegtable tempura serving was generous and the mango sticky rice was excellent sweet and the mango tasted fresh.

Lovely Thai restaurant in Sutton. Food was so tasty and was served in these cute fish plates, the amount of serving was also good. The staff were lovely and very friendly. We had to book in advance which is good because lots of the table seemed to be reserved when we came in.

Lovely food with extensive menu. Thai food cooked from scratch so you can have ingredients removed e.g. chillies to make a spicy dish mild. Nice staff and cosy restaurant. Have been several times. Best to book a table.

Great taste, all sea food is fresh ( i have some kind of allergy if the shrimp or prawn are not fresh enough I feel it right away) so I finally after some long time enjoy a nice seafood soup and green curry. The portions are quite small for my taste, we paid around 90 pounds for a relative small meal (2 soups, 2 rice bowls, green curry, and fried rice, 2 cokes and 2 apple juices)

Always had great service here. Very friendly and helpful staff. Amazing food, which staff will adapt for you if requested.

The food was ok. But I had ordered a vegetarian dish, Tau Hu Phad Prik Gaeng, and it had no baby aubergines in it. They then cheekily(?) gave us an extra dish during the mains we didn't order but charged us for it, Thod mum goong. At first, we thought it was part of the mains we had ordered so we ate it. But it wasn't the case. We paid but wasn't pleased we ended up paying more than we expected.

Myself and my partner have been to different areas of Thailand and this place is the closest we have found to traditional Thai food! Highly recommend this restaurant, staff were so welcoming and the food was unreal! Will definitely be returning!

This is an excellent Thai restaurant with lovely staff and an attentive manager. We have been going to Number One Thai for years and it never disappoints. The menu has great variety and the dishes are all full of authentic Thai taste.

Everything was good until we get the bill. I saw them charging us £2 for chilli in fish sauce. Normally, all the other thai restaurants i go to offer this as a complimentary sauce and if they were going to charge me they should have told me. The server then asked the manager and told me we should pay. Then the manager came and told me she'd knock off £2 from the bill if i didn't order it. Then she started telling me this sauce is never free anywhere else and they all charge. I said i was in another thai restaurant last weekend and they didn't charge..? Then she demanded i told her the name of the restaurant. When i told her the name and location of this other one, she said "they will charge you service fees etc" I said you are charging service fee plus £2 for the sauce? Then she told me nothing is free because we are in economic crisis and they buy everything so i shouldn't expect to get things for free....! This part is really unnecessary and irrelevant. Even if that's what she thought, I have never met any hospitality staff arguing with the customer for the sake of arguing and tried to teach economics. While we enjoyed the food and the atmosphere in the restaurant and all the other staff were nice, what she did completely ruined my dinner and my evening. Me and my friend left the restaurant feeling so uneasy.

We ordered our meal online (before it opened) and requested a 7pm delivery but our food didn’t arrive until 745pm. The restaurant eventually answered the phone after calling over 15 times. There was an issue with the order, I asked for no bamboo in the green curry but as you can see there is LOADS of it, so my partner wasn’t impressed. But I have to say the food was amazing. Really tasty and fresh. Maybe next time we’ll eat in instead.

This is absolutely the worst Thai cuisine I have ever experienced. I don’t believe they have even used Sea Bass as reference to and it is a fishy taste, not like sea bass should be.

We're fans of Thai food and this restaurant lived up to expectation. We ate far too much but the food was great. Service was a little slow but it was very busy at the time so just bear this in mind if going peak times. We thought it was just slightly over priced based on other restaurants in the area but clearly this is a personal opinion rather than factual. I'm looking forwward to going back soon!

Good and authentic Thai food. The mango sticky rice is very good with very sweet mango. Truly is a must try! Also recommend the Phad Thai, which also is amazing.
