Thai Cafe in Sutton

Nice little local Thai restaurant. The menu is not extensive but still covers most popular Thai dishes like pad Thai noodles or penang curry. They have also got Mango sticky rice as dessert but it’s not shown on the menu so just ask.

I agree with the food poisoning comment from previous posts. I ordered king prawn pad thai and pork spring roll. I was excited to try this cafe as Thai food is usually very tasty, but ended up being very disappointed. The king prawn tasted off and wanted to say something but ended up eating it anyway as it is pricey. It was the worst pad thai I have ever tasted in my life I did not even finish. I went home feeling very sicky and suffered from stomachache. Second was I ordered pork spring rolls, they ended up serving me vegetable spring rolls. It was all pastry and very little vegetable inside. They charge me for the pork spring roll. I ended up paying £30 for everything, I paid everything anyway, left, and swore never to go back to this cafe ever again. A big disappointment.

Ordered from Uber, good was average despite high reviews. Panang curry was very liquid and the beef was tough, the moo ping had lots of gistle and fat and the tom yung soup was very average.

FOOD POISONING Ordered delivery from here and 12 hours later suffering from symptoms of food poisoning. Do not risk eating here.

Great food, great service, very friendly atmosphere! I have been there twice with a bunch of friends. My last visit was last Wednesday and I have already planned the next visit. The food is delicious and has the freshness of a home cooked meal. Delivers amazing value as well.

The food is delicious especially moo ping taste exactly like the one in Thailand. Staff is very welcoming, great atmosphere.

Was really looking forward to trying this for some time now eventually went with a take away delivery. So disappointed - pad Thai noodles were soft and sloppy, the beef rice had barely any beef and was tasteless - the green curry blew my head off - and my hubby couldn’t touch it - we are so fond of Thai and was looking forward to this meal but unfortunately won’t order from here again so disappointing

The service was really bad and no one showed up when we call an instead gave us a rude look we tried calling them another time but still no response and completely ignored us.

Book the table but the staff ignore and hasn’t provided any service to us. Wait there 15 mins and left. Terrible service

Cozy local restaurant with an extensive menu. Particularly enjoyed the Thai milk tea and sweet corn fritters.

First of all it took so long for the waiter to see us saying that we want to order and took soooo long for the food to come. Second of all there was a papaya salad that had to peppers under it but it was way too spicy so I’d hate to see the 5 peppers. And the soup was horrendous and the curry was really weird. Plus the rice costed £2.50 and the customer fee was £5.00!!! (Bad experience)

Food is nice and reasonable pricing, it becomes our regular dine in or take away option now. What a hidden gem, the location is convenient but easily to be overlooked by the Costa coffee shop next to it.

Food standards go up and down eg sometimes its great and sometimes it just bad eg tastless or just oily. We have ordered here for well over a year and eaten there also. They have no concept of loyalty and we have requested for some thai crackers on the house as we were regulars! We never got anything despite paying a good £35/£40 each time we order! Just not sure about this place anymore..

I recommend this place. Food was amazing and had authentic thai taste. I had a chicken dish and my partner had a vegetarian curry.Asked for spicy and they delivered. Big portions. Atmosphere very basic but clean.

Took away 3 dishes , tom yum , veg noodles , chicken satay ...total cost £26 ... The portion's were fair but unfortunatly the dishes lacked flavour or soul .very oily tofu , no chillies , chicken satay without flavour . very little veg in the noodles .. probably some of the worst thai food i have eaten and the price was far too much ..I would have valued that food at £15 not £26 . I have been eating thai food for many years as married to a thai for over 40 so have a reasonably good knowledge of thai food .. Very dissapointed that they overprice their food which is really not that good ..

We love Thai cafe we regularly order takeaway. The massaman curry, Pad Thai and the krapow are all great the krapow though can be extremely hot.

Ordered on deliveroo Came really quickly and piping hot! Impressed as its -1 degrees! The only reason I wouldn't give 5 stars is the plastic packaging- quite flimsy and not suitable for hot foods. But food was delicious, really good pad thai, plenty of prawns and not dry like some others I have tasted

First time I had Thai Cafe and wow the food was fresh and super tasty! We will definitely be back for more. Super quick to prepare a take away. Lovely and highly recommend this place.

It was my first time today at the Thai Cafe and I had the most delicious and very authentic tasting Drunken Noodles. The service was lovely and I’m definitely going to come back to try other dishes from the menu.

We ordered Moo Ping and Sweetcorn fritter for starter, Moo yang and Drunken noodles for main! All of them were excellent! We’ve been to Thailand and had street food and found Thai Cafe really authentic. The Moo Yang sauce is something else and the quality of meat and veg is really high - I assume it’s pork shoulder given it’s tenderness. I can only assume that the moaners haven’t a clue about Thai food. One word of warning - If you’re a beginner with Thai spices you might eat to ask them to tone down the drunken noodles!

Similar to the previous review it reminded me of a restaurant I visited when I was in Bangkok. Usually restaurants tame things down. I asked for a beef gaeng keow wan and said spice it up with extra birds eye chillies. They did exactly that. After I ordered my food I realised they had wine, so a nice curry and a glass of wine. My partner ordered the chicken pad thai. she liked it, but wasn't too sure. She tried my curry and we will both be back.

Food from this place is really authentic and I love how they use ecofriendly packaging for takeaways. Their chicken satae is hands down THE BEST I've ever had in London. They actually use chicken thigh meat instead of rubbery chicken breast and the satae sauce is really authentic - savoury and buttery with strong peanut aroma. Also tried their tung yum kong soup which is mildly spicy and that's great because most ppl will be able to have it without problem. All in all, food is great and will definitely be one of my go-to thai food spot.

Small portions .. limited ingredients - squid had about 5 bits for £10!! Rice was pathetic in a small microwave packet , wouldn’t even feed 1 person! Had to make more … Thai Green curry had hardly any prawns in it! Mostly sauce Pad Thai was ok! Wouldn’t use them again…

Tried it twice ... Ordered 5 different dishes... This is the closest taste to the Thai food I remembered eating when I visited Bangkok.... Delicious, spicy and authentic

The portions are huge. The guests shellfish wasn't brilliant. But they did change it. Shuts promptly.

We had dinner here (as a special treat) and the food was very disappointing. Very cheap ingredients, watery curry and no taste. We believe the food had been pre-prepared and microwaved. I am not a fussy eater, but I couldn't eat much of this - do not order from here.

Authentic Thai food with reasonable price and large portion. Ordered twice and both experience was satisfied.

This was a takeaway. Delivered to us. Chicken in skewers was pink meat, which didn’t seem right to me. Tempura prawns with thick batter surround. Spiced calamari quite greasy. The curry was quite thin. Made my rice to go with it. We tried them for the first time but it was not a good experience. I have never given a restaurant a bad review before and hope they improve in the future.

OMG it's proper authentic Thai food, we love spicy and it was certainly that. After travelling Thailand a lot it's hard to find somewhere that sticks to the original Vs dumbed down for Europeans. Yes it needs a bit more ventilation but quick friendly service.

Poorly ventilated restaurant, with smoke in the air that stings your eyes, combined with terrible and rude service. Take your money elsewhere, to another more deserving local Thai (or other cuisine) restaurant that is not only interested in a quick buck, but actually cares about their customers.

Having been to Thailand multiple times I can honestly say Thai Cafe serve the best and most authentic Thai food I've tried in London. It's consistently delicious but be warned when they say spicy they mean it!

Tasty food of good quality with generous portions, reasonably priced. Takeaway service was v v busy and maybe better than eating in as is small.

Pad thai, chicken green curry, ice tea and ice coffee. Food was very nice, full of flavour and cooked properly better than some Thai restaurants. Ice tea was a bit sweet but highly recommended.

Exceptional. I've walked by this unassuming looking little place many times since I moved to the area, but couldn't visit due to the lock down. The unassuming looking places from experience are often the ones that wow you..... recently have ordered twice on Deliveroo & Just Eat... blown away both times and look forward now to dining in. Both takeaways I have had from here have delivered the best thai food I've had in this neck of London. Absolutely authentic, i was taken back to Thailand... the minced meat holy basil stir fries I've not seen elsewhere and were gobsmacking. Everything is packed with flavour, great portions, top quality ingredients. You need to try this place out.

Ok-ish. It was a delivery so don’t want to be too hard in the review. However, we won’t use them again. The only reason the reviewer resorted to trying Thai Cafe is because our usual excellent Thai was closed. Back to our usual excellent Thai!!

A vegan disaster! I've ordered numerous times from Thai Cafe in the past and have always been satisfied with the quality of food. Being vegan it really helps that they offer vegan options on Deliveroo unlike some of their competitors, however, the experience we had this evening was nothing of the standard in the past. We ordered 3 mains (all vegan), rice and a salad. As soon as we opened one of the mains (Pad See Ew) it smelt funny so we tasted it - turned out it had pieces of chicken inside. Immediately, we called the restaurant to notify them of the mishap. They promptly prepared and arranged to deliver the same dish in a vegan option. Having waited an additional 30 minutes to eat we finally started our meal only to realise that the new delivered mains was no better!! It was incredibly oily and tasted and smelt like it had been cooked in the same pan/oil as chicken. The second unfortunate incident was that the second main (Pad Mak Heua) was cooked in fish sauce! We had to discard two of the mains because they were simply inedible! By this point we only had one main (Green curry), a small salad and a portion of rice between 3 people to eat! Not only did we not have enough food left between us but ended up spending a whooping £43 for a meal that should have cost half the price!! I've only given 1 stars because the customer service seemed good, however, the overall experience was horrendous! Unfortunately, based on my experience Thai Cafe is not vegan or vegetarian friendly and should you order or dine here I'd strongly advise caution.

Popped in for lunch on a Wednesday chose food from full menu even though the lunch menu looked good. Food was fantastic and the staff were professional and friendly. Top marks for cleanliness. Would definitely recommend.

we came here when it was the eat out to help out scheme and the food was fantastic! We are vegetarian and there were so many vegetables in the curry and noodles. We didn't realise we have such a good Thai restaurant so local to us so we will be coming back again for sure!

Ok food, poor customer service Food - starters are great - curry is oversweet. Can't even finish a sip - quality fluctuates. For example they give less & less prawns in pad thai and last time my prawns were overcook Service - took over 2 hours to get served & pay the bills. Painfully slow and the server doesn't really pay attention to customers - the woman served curry dish had long nails with bit of dirts underneath, and it nearly touched the curry - they forgot serving some parts of dish like limes in my pad thai - served rice 10-20 minutes after curry, after it started getting cold I like the restaurant, but I don't recommend visitijg them during busy period like 12-2 or 5-8 also ordering curries.

Good food , friendly staff but rip off service charge (almost 20% of the total bill ) ! we felt it was way too high for a restaurant and service of that standard . The management should seriously consider reviewing this policy of theirs else will risk loosing customers .

Service was very good. But too fast. The papaya salad was very tasty and worth trying if you like some spice. I had the chicken Masaman curry which was too sweet for my taste. Portion sizes are all small. Other dishes my family had, small too. For the cut price, eat out offer. Probably just about ok for the about of food we eat. Paying full price, I would have not been happy. I must also point out, that the menu is rather small.

Good food but suspicious customer service! The portions services are large as I went for the drunken noodles and chicken satay although the satay sauce was cold. The service was strangely suspicious as they tried to overcharge me multiple times in the restaurant. As I went during the Eat Out Campaign, they provided an incorrect Eat Out discount, claiming its accurate when the government confirmed its 50% of the bill per person up to £10. See attached. I would stay away from the restaurant as the staff did not understand the discount despite promoting it on their shop. Further providing false information of who the actual manager is, whereby there was none as he/she was not there to address the complaint.

Ate here as a family the other night and received attentive from the very busy staff. The food was (unlike a couple of sofa slob reviews from Just eat I read before visiting) authentic and very tasty, although I will say the drunken noodles were...

I went there once to grab some quick take-away just to try and now I feeling like I'm a regular customer 😅 From the time it opened I ordered plenty items from their menu, and I'm amazed of quality and taste of their dishes🤤. Also if ordering for takeaway I always going there to pickup food by myself as the staff is really friendly and provide amazing service. The place is quite small, but when they will finally open for eat-in i will definetly book a table there. Highly recommend as best Thai Restaurant in the area. 👍
