The interior is spacious and pleasantly laid out. The staff greeted us warmly but didn't hassle us to choose quickly from the very extensive menu. Much of the menu covers very standard (Cantonese) Chinese dishes of all sorts bu the real treasure trove is the page of chef's special Sichuan dishes. We had soups to start and, spoiled for choice, we selected two favourites for our mains: mapo tofu and fish-fragrant aubergine with a side of pak choi. Both Sichuan dishes were delicious but there was at least twice as much of the aubergine as we could eat which seemed wasteful and we should have shared a single portion of rice as we only ate half of what was served there too. Good value for money for very nice food and we were very happy to have eaten there.

Went to Chinatown expecting a decent meal. However ribs were very disappointing and main courses tasted salty and the spicy beef was swimming in vinegar!! Vegetables again salty. I won’t be coming back. Maybe the chef should taste the food before sending out.

First of all we sat down and asked for the menu on the window but was told it was Christmas week and it was not valid. Then we ordered wine which tasted like vinegar at £3:60 a glass. My wife asked me not to complain. Then the main meal came in less than 5 minutes, served on cold plates and poor quality. Finally I asked for the bill and to my shock a 3:60 service charge was added to a £33:60 bill which I refused to pay. Please take my advice and don’t use this place:

Fuimos un viernes por la noche alrededor de las 8 pm por primera vez en aproximadamente 8 años. El lugar estaba vacío aparte de una pareja sentada dentro. De todas las mesas vacías en el interior, el personal nos sentó en la mesa junto a ellos. Esto estaría bien si hubiera algo de música o algo así, pero estaba en silencio en el interior haciendo que la experiencia fuera muy incómoda. A la gente le gusta el espacio!

Having previously eaten at a nearby Chinese which was excellent - we wanted to return but it’s closed for refurbishment - so we went to Nelson street and looked at our choices. Food was fine but a bit average for the prices they charge. Singapore noodles were quite bland and wouldn’t really recommend. When asking for the bill the waiter took my card from me and used the contactless option without showing me the price first - I had to ask for a receipt as he didn’t print one and it turned out he charged £2 extra on our bill without asking us. It’s a shame because service up until that point had been good and we definitely would have left a tip anyway!

We've been going here for 5 years, and after trying many of the places in Chinatown we keep going back to our two favourites, depending on the time of day. Its great for a late night meal or takeaway, always friendly staff, never too loud or busy and the food is quick. We generally try something off the specials menu to sample new foods. Of the ~15-20 times we've been only once was average while the rest have been great.

Food came out within 4 minutes, proving that the gloopy cheap mess of a meal wasn't fresh. Ignored by the waitress who could see we couldn't stomach the food. When we complained after only eating a portion of chips between the 3 of us, we were told by 'Paul', the supposed step-in management, that we had to pay for half of our uneaten food and call the manager tomorrow. He gave us a card and we called the number the next day to which a lady answered saying she didn't work there any more then hung up the phone... extremely rude. We then called the restaurant and were told the lady we had spoken to was the owner, are you joking?! We were then given a new number for the 'real' manager and when tried to explain our situation he said "call back tomorrow I'm not at work" and again hung up on us. We were not going to accept this dreadful customer service so went back to claim our money to which Paul called us effing ridiculous in front of his customers. He then proceeded to tell us he did not care about our complaint as he was not paid enough. Inhospitable, ignorant and down right rude. We were not there to cause any scene but I have never know a place as appalling as this one. The worst Chinese we have ever eaten without a doubt.

Absolute lowest common denominator eaterie. The whole place smells of reheated food, tasted like reheated food, predictable menu, food prepared with absolutely no finesse and pretty low level service. the best I can say is that it'd probably feel OK after ten pints but you wouldn't go here for an actual meal out.

Absolute disgrace of a place. Chicken satay came after half an hour wait and was totally inedible. Rock hard and bone dry. Nearly broke my teeth on it.Then came the special curry, couldn't taste curry and only salt. Still can. The vilest food I've ever been given. Finally my prawn toast came (after main course). It was black and burned. Had one bite and left the rest. So you know I'm not exaggerating I took a photo. Please view! If this place catered for Walton Prison there would be a riot!!!!!Not a food critic by any stretch of the imagination but this wasn't even edible after 15 pints. Disgrace to Liverpool and disgrace to the Chinese community.Avoid like the plague!!!!!

Left it late so our usual Chinese was shut and took a punt on this one (just past the Arch in 'proper' Chinatown). It was so good we might just make this our usual Chinese from now on. It's quite basic decor wise but the service was fine and the food was plentiful (generous portion size) and delicious. We had the bok choi (not on the menu buT they were happy to cook it for us), and satay and black bean sauce. All fine. I got the impression it might get a bit manic in the early hours but when we were in - between 11 and 12 - it was an oasis of calm.

Walked past the pagoda hoping to find a decent Chinese eatery. Out of the many to choose from we were unfortunate enough to chose this one. When we walked in the sparce decor and paper tablecloths should have set the alarm bells ringing, but the Chinese family birthday party put mind at ease. It can't be bad If Chinese eat there.WRONG!!! We had the'B' banquet which started with 2 nice bowls of soup. It went rapidly downhill from there. The tasteless selection of starters, which included rubber chicken were horrible. Went to this restaurant last night. We were shown to a table and then the menu's were THROWN at us. Ordered skewered chicken satay which was very tough. When our main meal came out the waiter served fried rice on both plates when only 1 of us had ordered it. When he replaced our cutlery it was THROWN down on the table at us. 1 waiter was completely stand offish and 1 was very nice! Food was just OK. Curry appeared to have a very "peppery" taste. This place isn't the most attractive looking restaurant in Liverpool but it's definitely a restaurant where you shouldn't judge the place on the strength of this because the food we ordered was of a good standard and that's always the most important aspect. I had the hot and sour soup, chicken with cashew nuts and some egg fried rice. The food came quickly because there weren't many people in the restaurant and it was an enjoyable meal. Although it was 2300 the restaurant wasn't that busy but it started to get busy as we were leaving. Apparently this place is open until really late and it gets very busy when the pubs and nightclubs kick out which doesn't surprise me, the food is tasty and reasonably priced.

The interior is basic (paper table clothes, no atmosphere) but wow the service and food were excellent. We ordered too much, easily done!, but didn't want to leave any as it was so good. Can recommend salt/pepper ribs; crispy wonton; chicken noodle soup; hot and sour soup; special curry and the crispy beef. The staff were 'there' but not overpowering. We weren't rushed. The food was cooked piping hot and considering there was 6 of eating it came very quickly. It was in china town and it had a lovely atmosphere about it. We chose Chilli Chilli at random after finding ourselves in Chinatown late one night (9:30 pm). We didn't realise that they closed at 10:00 but they never even mentioned this and it wasn't until the next day we found out. It was a relaxed and enjoyable meal. We thought it was lovely that all the staff sat down and had a meal together. Only in hindsight did we realise that was their end of shift meal. Whoops. Nonetheless, the service was maintained to impeccable levels. We noticed that there were several versions of hot & sour soup (a favourite of my wife and I) so asked what the difference was. That was explained so we tried a Sichuan and a Peking style. The latter was lovely but the Sichuan is amazing! The chicken with lemon in honey sauce and the king prawns with ginger and spring onions were both heavenly.I cannot fault the service. My wife spotted them paying attention to us getting near the end of our soup and immediately starting the kitchen into action on our mains. Thus, the main course followed at the perfect time (i.e. not instantly but just right). In summary,a really pleasant dining experience. Especially as we unwittingly went in so late.

We were there 14/02/2015, staff great helpful & very polite! Food was awesome & we will be eating there again! The waiter pouring 2 bottles of Tiger in 1 hand into 2 glasses in his other hand without spilling a drop is impressive! Left with Valentine's wishes & extra fortune cookies! See you again soon JJ & MD xx

First time here, after reading a few bad reviews I think the people writing them must of been talking about another restaurant. The service was quick, the food was absolutely tasty. Best Chinese we have had in a long time. Staff were polite enough for a busy restaurant. And a lovely lady on the reception gave us extra fortune cookies to take home to our daughter, with happy Valentine's wishes. Can't wait to go back with family & friends.

A group of 7 of us ate at the restaurant after a night out for my birthday last night. And the whole experience was something I would definitely not like to ever repeat. The food was nothing special, the staff were not polite in the slightest. (I did not see any of the 8 staff members crack a smile the whole 2/3 hours we were there.) The only reason we were there for so long was due to the slow service and the massive gaps of time we had to wait between courses. The restaurant was absolutely freezing and despite us asking several members of staff why it was so cold an whether we could move further back where it may be warmer, they ignored us on every occasion. The food is over priced for what it is, the staff do not care about your custom and you spend the entire time your there with you coat on cold as a icicle! Avoid!!

One of our favourite restaurants, the food is lovely and the staff are extremely attentive. Had banquet C and had to take the rest home, they also let us swap food items too

I think the food in here is terrific but I find some of the staff to be quite rude. It seems all polite on the surface but it isn't. I think some of them need to bear in mind that when they are slagging people off in their own language that the person they are slagging might actually understand.....which I did! Not everyone on a Saturday night is a drunken fool. I shouldn't be mocked for what or how much I'm ordering. I found the gentleman behind the bar to be the worst offender!

Having just arrived in town we needed somewhere easy to walk to from our hotel. We came across Chilli Chilli in China town. The menu was well present in both English and Chinese, the prices were very good on a par with our normal Chinese take away back home. The service was excellent and food arrived quickly and with out have excessive waiting time. Chilli Chilli is certainly well worth a visit as this place is truly value for money. Meal for 2 starters and main with drinks just over £30 that what I normally pay for two main meals at out take away.

Decided to pop to Chinatown for a meal the other night and got accosted by the owner as we were perusing the Menu. Had intended to have a set meal - this Restaurant was advertising an Early Bird Menu for £9.00 per head for a two course meal, which finished at 7.30. As it was 7.45 decided to walk on, but the owner said we could still have the Early Bird Special at the £9.00 per head. We started with the Chicken and Sweetcorn Soup, which was excellent. From then on, it went downhill. As there were three of us we had three main meals - Beef Curry, Chicken Hung Po, and Vegetable Hung Po, all with rice. Initially all looked well with good-size portion. However, once we had tucked into the food we had to call for glasses of water to cool us down - we had never had such hot Chinese food covered in Chilli's. It was only when we called for the Bill we realized why - if only we had spotted the name of the Restaurant before we had entered!! Probably the least enjoyable Chinese Meal we have had for a long time. However, we did find the staff extremely helpful and attentive.

I visited here after walking through the 'China Town', and I'm glad I did. The service was quick and friendly, food delicious and all for a reasonable price. I'd recommend ordering the egg fried rice, fully flavoured and fluffy :) Would definitely visit again if I was in the area.

The food and service were both excellent, we will definitely choose to eat here again. We were very impressed that the restaurant was full but people were still being given the option to sit at a large shared table. We thought that this was a great idea. This was our first visit but obviously it is a very popular restaurant with returning clientele - we will be joining this list of returning patrons. See you soon. !

Had a lovely takeaway delivered from here last night. The hot and sour soup was really delicious, as was the ma po tofu, but really everything we ordered was excellent. There was a slight mix up with our drinks order but no big deal. The driver was very friendly and delivery time was spot on. Would definitely recommend for a takeaway - just make sure to try some of their traditional Szechuan dishes! Will try to pop in for a sit down meal the next time I'm in Chinatown.

£27.65 down the drain! we ordered a Take-Away from this restaurant via bigfoodie.co.uk Absolutely disgusted with the length of delivery time (1 hr 50 mins) and when we finally did get the food which was missing an item it was cold and soggy the chips had to go straight in the bin and the prawn crackers /spring rolls were really poor just chewy and tasteless obviously all of it had been sitting in bags for nearly 2 hrs. They gave us a a free btl of Coke for the delay but we would have rathered food that was edible. Overall a total disaster steer clear at all costs.

I am told the style of food served here is from the southern part of China, wherever it is from, it is delicious. Quite different from the anglicised food you expect to get in most restaurants.Large portions of superbly cooked food some with ingredients I have never come across before. Very pleasant staff, although our waitress brought us a bottle white when we asked for red an then returned to nervously spill some down the sides of our glasses. Have been here several times and the quality is consistently high. Right in the the middle of Liverpool's Chinatown, it is well worth a visit.

One of the two chinese waiters struggled a bit with his 'English' but both were attentive and friendly. The restaurant was clean and the toilets even cleaner - watch out New Capital! We've been eating chinese cuisine for over 40 years and we've been to most of the restaurants in Liverpool's 'Chinatown' but this was our first visit to Chilli Chilli. We were a little bit pushed for time and we thought it would be quicker if we stuck to the 'Early Bird' menu which was only £9 for a two course dinner. The food was served quickly and was piping hot - the Salt & Pepper ribs were dry (not greasy) with a crispy outer and lovely flavour. My wife's soup was still steaming when it arrived and was as good as it gets. The main courses were also hot as were the plates and the prawns, duck and beef portions were very tasty and served with generous portion of rice. Quite the best chinese meal we've had for years - we only hope we don't have to eat our words when we next visit Chilli Chilli.

Terrible food. All we ordered was pork which was surprisingly recommended to come with chips. Why the hell the waitress recommended chips in a Chinese restaurant I will never know. Anyway the chips were acceptable but the pork was disgusting: chewy, tasteless and just awful. Very disappointed and will not be going again.

Went here on a Sunday evening recently with my Mum and had an ok meal. The portion sizes are really big if that's what you like. We had the mixed platter for starters and there was so much we actually cancelled the crispy duck. Mum had King Po King Prawns which were juicy and tasty unlike some places where prawns can be quite tasteless. I had a spicy lamb dish that wasn't spicy enough. Again there was too much food. The beers are very reasonable too.

Forget the Western Chinese menu and ask the very helpful waitstaff for some dishes from the Chinese menu. We told the waiter we wanted authentic Chinese food and not sweet and sour chicken. He helped us with suggestions based upon our meat or seafood preferences. The fried beans in chilli and garlic are simply delicous. We also tried the spicy won ton soup which was very flavoursome. Try something new and don't be fooled by the bland decor - the food is fantastic!

Don’t know what all the good reviews are about I had chicken fried rice, chips and barbecue sauce and was very disappointed. The barbecue sauce did not taste like barbecue sauce and had a very strong smell. The chicken fried rice had no chicken, was flavourless and had many clumps in. The chips were rubbish and not like chippy chips.

I've used delivery and collection multiple times. The service is excellent. Unfortunately, I have never eaten in and as such cannot speak to the atmosphere. Regarding the food, I have had their chicken fried rice a great many times, and I must say it is delicious. Whether a hearty lunch midway through exam season or comfort food on a cold night in their fried rice has served me well and I would highly recommend to anyone that enjoys chicken fried rice (image attached). Moreover, I have some experience with their appetisers and I must say both their spare ribs with salt and chilli, and their won tons are phenomenal. Also, as of 24/10/2024 the delivery variant of their spare ribs with salt and chilli comes with 6 ribs and they are all a decent size (image attached). Also, I have found their portions are very generous and so one may struggle to finish fried rice and spare ribs in one evening and as such in the past I have put the spare ribs in the fridge and they are still great the next morning. If you prefer not to do this I would recommend you get the won tons which only comes with 4 won tons and as such is suitable for a lighter meal. Overall, highly recommend.
