Mr Chilli in Liverpool

Food was poor. Burned and bland. Avoid if you appreciate proper Chinese food.

The staff were really nice but the food was probably some of the blandest Chinese food I've ever had. The fried rice was hard and tasted burnt, the crispy chilli beef had no flavour and the spring rolls were tasteless and unpleasant to eat. I ended up throwing them away. The duck meat was nice but the hoisin sauce that came with it tasted watered down. All in all really really disappointed

So disappointing, I Ordered crispy duck and pancake. The duck was off and smelt disgusting to the point where I was gaging of the smell. The hoisin sauce was lumpy I felt as though I was going to be sick of the smell of the duck. The only thing that was worth 1 star was the cut up veg.

Good authentic Chinese food. Always friendly service. Halal lamb. Good range of classic dishes. Would recommend. Portion sizes should be bigger though. Not the best value for money and for this reason falls short of 5 stars.

Ordered food last night and because of the road being closed down Seel Street, the lovely staff stayed in touch and I got my food. Soup was fine but the kindo ribs were awful. Mostly rib ends so full of gristle and fat. I think out of the contents, two were not. Won't be going again.

Don't order from here especially from uber eats or even at all. 2 hours we waited for our order and it was vile managed 1 mouthful and threw up place should be shut down. Amazed this place is still even allowed open for business

First time trying mr chilli we got the set meal for 2 people and was not disappointed very generous portions , hot and fresh very tasty. Definitely our new Chinese to order from.

Food is average ok for some I'm sure was served mixed starters at same time as Soup which went cold Charsui in soup was tough as in old and reheated

Absolute Gar-Bage. Absolute. I literally have no praise for this establishment. Trash food, trash service and a singleminded attitude to ‘grabbing’ money. This joint will be wiped out in a few years with the next round of Gentrification. Change or die. They just do not see it coming..

Fantastic! Some of the best Chinese food I have ever had. Tasted amazing, and had very fast service! $21 for sweet and sour chicken, vegetables fried rice, spring rolls and two drinks.

You get served by a robot. If you like being served by a robot, then you should come here. Great food too.

Terrible service by a young Chinese guy. We were treated as if we were here on his credit, not as paying customers; everything has to be according to his convenience. Ordered their delivery service after midnight they asked me (single female) to walk all the way to the main road to find the driver because he was afraid the driver could get lost finding my apartment block. I told him that was ridiculous then he hang up my call. What a lovely service!

Horrendous. Greesy Sui Mai. Dry char sui buns. Microwaves mains.

Excellent food and the only restaurant open late.

Recommend if you like the taste of disappointment... We have ordered food through the website and after 40 minutes of the restaurant 'preparing' the food we suddenly got our order canceled. No explanation, zero contact, we were ignored on the live chat. Have to wait 7 days for a refund hope it will come.

Typical tasty Sichuan food but appalling table service. Waiters and waitresses not trained and simply shafted the dishes on a full table, simply leaving guests scrambling to rearrange the dishes themselves. Full of rowdy students who have no patience and frequently walk in to 'grab' a table without waiting to be seated at the right table. We witnessed a family being so unhappy with the table service that they left without finishing their meal.

Food tasted okay, flavourful. Portions are generous. Staff were friendly and nice. Many came in for for steamboat. Sze chuan cuisine, be prepared for oily food.

I have eaten here twice. The Sichuan style food was fantastic the first time. Very spicy, fragrant and authentic taste. The second time I went I got a set menu and it was bland and disappointing. Avoid it.

If you like Chilly hot food this is the real one, very tasty and original, they also provide normal Chinese dishes, like Peking Duck with pancake, deep fried sweet and sour whole fish, they also provide karaoke rooms for private party

Great food, very pleasant staff.

Terrible experience, we tricked by staff bought 10 pounds money of steamed rice as they said it’s free today, when we pay they said it’s only free when you add rice, then staff quickly grabbed the money. They NEVER NEVER apologize for their behavior but always louder and very aggressive to customers, which makes us feel they only care about money, not customers experience. We will never go back again!!

They said the rice would be free but charged us £10. Be careful.

Myself and a friend were visiting Liverpool and thought we would try this restaurant. So glad we did. We ordered the banquet for 2. Everything was so tasty and there was plenty of it. We weren't rushed at all, the staff were pleasant and attentive. Great evening.

I visited Mr Chili's recently after hearing good things about it. After finding a table and sitting down the waitress came over to take our orders. The waitress did not speak English to an adequate standard. She was struggling to write down what we wanted. I asked what drinks were available and she didn't seem to know. I was eventually offered an apple juice. I ordered the chicken curry as my main meal with prawn crackers and chicken sweetcorn soup as the starter. The soup was ok but nothing special. The curry was disappointing. The portion size was generous but it just wasn't particularly nice. The chicken was actually worse than what I've had from takeaways. After I ordered there was a long delay before the food was brought over to the table. I had to ask another waiter what the reason was for the delay. I went at lunchtime and there were only three other customers in the restaurant. I expected it to be a bit busier. I was disappointed with my visit to Mr Chili's and doubt I will be returning any time soon.

Went in for lunch with high expectations. The interior needs a refresh as it looks a bit work out and outdated. Service was good throughout the lunch. The food was a let down. It felt like a generic 'Chinese restaurant' and lacked the authenticity of it calling itself a Sichuan restaurant. Have had much better authentic Sichuan cuisine in other places around the UK. The food lacked the punch I was expecting from a Sichuan Restaurant.

This is the sister restaurant to Mr. Chilli in Seel Street. Same menu, same quality. It has had a recent refurb and is new and clean. The Dry Fried French Bean dishes and Fish dishes are FAB. The guy on the next table had a cauldron of Frogs Legs in chilli. Not for everyone perhaps but it looked pretty tasty. We paid for two people £27 for 4 dishes (Fish in a really good sweet and sour sauce, Dry Fried French Beans with garlic, Fried Rice and a portion of Noodles with Beansprouts and onions). They also do set lunches on weekdays for £6.50. The only negative is that it is out of the centre at the top of the hill towards the Hospital so you have to make the extra effort to get there as it is away from all of Liverpool's main sights and Liverpool City Centre does have its own Mr. Chilli as well.

Was taken here by some members of a research group i was visiting for a late lunch. Very helpful and kind staff, helpful in describing the many different dishes on the menu. As a norwegian, pricing was quite cheap, but according have been told the prices were more in the mid to upper range in terms of local prices. They had recently expanded their restaurant allowing for a very nice and open spacing, and the room felt fresh and clean. Overall a very positive experience that i would recommend, it was my favourite restaurant during my three week stay.

Mr Chilli's second restaurant, and fully up to the high standard set by the Seel Street branch. Szechuan hot and sour soup, bang bang cold spicy starter, twice-cooked pork, duck Szechuan style (a little spicier than the Cheng Du style in Seel Street, I'd say) and gong bau chicken all exemplary. More power to the miniature chain, a firm favourite.

Me and some friends visited her a few years ago, after one of them recommended it. It was interesting choosing our ingredients to mix in and eat. One of my friends kept picking up far too much but eh well.. The food was delicious and staff were helpful. I think I just felt paranoid when I saw the staff laughing, because I was helplessly trying to use chopsticks.

Eat here a lot as its local to me, Food is superb, good service. Ask for the Chinese menu rather than the usual and its a whole new dining experience of traditional Chinese food, tony the manager is very helpful with choosing from that menu. Food is spot on 👍

My Son Ted and I will be relocating to the North West shortly and as he had never visited the fine city of Liverpool before we attempted to savour the delights of the ancient and noble city with some work colleagues seeing a local band. Arriving early we opted for dinner in Mr Chilli. The restaurant is reminiscent of a Asian family restaurant seen across the whole Asian continent The food however (while based on standard Honk Kong Chinese fare) is well above average Whilst opting for a very busy Saturday evening the restaurant was very busy and we were the only non Asian dinners and attended to very promptly and courteously Food was plentiful, tasty and very worthwhile. Well worth a visit if your in central Liverpool Congratulations

Went in on a Friday for dinner with my mum. We were seated with a menu and both struggled to find anything that took our fancy as we both really enjoy Chinese, but more authentic and traditional dishes not your average takeaway otherwise we could've just got that at home. After a few minutes another waiter came and asked if we'd like the chinese menu which I jumped at the chance. The Chinese menu has at least twice as many dishes with much more variety, especially for vegetable and seafood dishes which is what I was wanting. It also has sweet potato noodles which if you haven't had them, like my mum, will change your world, they're great!

When with friends. Unsure what to have so staff recommend some dishes, tried things I wouldn't normally have gone for. Staff where really attentive and helpful.

Brilliant food, and presentation, fast service and reasonable prices for groups. Service a little chilli...... but other than that great food at low prices, full of asian people so you know its good food.

We tried this newly opened restaurant out today. There was 4 of us and the staff were very friendly and ready to serve us. The atmosphere was very nice, not loud at all like most chinese restaurants are.
