Chilli Banana Thai Restaurant in Cheshire East

Our first visit last night to this lovely restaurant whilst staying for a few nights in Macclesfield and I have to say it was one of the best Thai meals we’ve had . We chose the banquet at £32 pp (soup excluded) and it was delicious - the food was so fresh, tasty, aromatic and plentiful with good service, friendly staff and a such a nice setting in the beautifully converted Merchant House a short walk away from the centre of town. Overall an excellent experience I wouldn’t hesitate to return :)

We came here for a family lunch out for a christmas celebration. This was the 3rd time we came and it was equally lovely to the previous times We have always received a warm and friendly welcome We took advantage of the lunchtime meal deal which at the moment is a very reasonable £12.95: Any 2 small plates followed by any noodle dish or rice dish Finishing with jasmine tea or fresh ground coffee. The food is delicious and we will definitely go many more times The car park next to the Chilli Banana is not massive, but, I think there may be other parking behind it maybe on the street There is space for at least one blue badge user There is easy wheelchair accessibility from the car park. A wheelchair can fit under a few of the tables so that the user is close enough to the table to be able to eat unlike some other restaurants. There are also wheelchair accessible toilets. It might be advisable to mention a wheelchair user will be present, when booking We will definitely be returning Many thanks

The quality of the food seems to have dropped recently. Starters are generally good, but main course dishes have tough and gristly meat and bland sauces. Maliwan is Macclesfield offers much higher quality Thai food.

Lovely food, great service, a wonderful experience for us. The portions are big and we could have shared. The banana fritter desert is amazing with maple syrup, I highly recommend this place! They add 10% to the bill as a tip, but it does say it’s optional.

Food and service was amazing. We went mid January so it was mostly empty which meant not much of an atmosphere but not their fault of course.

Food is absolutely delicious.....don't like the hidden costs though VAT and service charge bump up the bill.but the best Thai food I've tasted ...nice place but no atmosphere when we attended

Attended a wedding reception here and have to say it is a fantastic venue. The food was amazing, and the host Ben and all his staff were fabulous. We will definitely be going back! Very loud but was Christmas so probably busier than usual. Live music didn't work in this environment possibly the choice of music. Very expensive really. Nice food and pleasant staff though.

Absolutely amazing food! The trio of midweek curries is a fantastic deal and there's always a welcoming, friendly face to greet you upon arrival. The food is great quality for the price and we return again and again.

LOVE this restaurant! The food is always fresh, tasty and cooked to perfection. The lunch menu has a lot of choice and two options depending on how hungry you are. With coffee or jasmine tea included, it is excellent value for money. Dinner in the evening is always a treat with delicious, authentic Thai food perfectly cooked and beautifully presented.

Nice food, nice atmosphere great food

Love meeting up with friends at chilli banana as relaxed atmosphere, pleasant staff and good food with plenty of drink options available. As a coeliac I need to follow a gluten food diet and there are plenty of options to choose from. Highly recommended and can’t wait to dine there again soon

What a wonderful evening! We came with a group of SEND adults for a birthday and the team couldn’t have been more wonderful - especially a huge thanks to Ella for her patience and kindness waiting on our big table. She could not have been more helpful. A brilliant evening!

Food and service excellent. Had a large party in and they were VERY noisy - shame

Had ribs for a starter, found them very greasy like they had been deep fried almost. Followed by the jungle chicken for the main course. Again it was ok but not anything special.

I had reservation at 13.45 on Saturday, it shows on the website the lunch closed at 15.00. But when we arrived at 13.40. They kept chasing us for ordering three times in 4 minites, didn't enjoy the lunch at all with time pressure.

Fantastic place. We were there on a work do and had the banquet. Absolutely fantastic food and the staff were excellent and really attentive without being intrusive. Loved every bite.

Love this place and have been coming here for years. It's atmosphere is calm and exactly what you need to sit back, relax, chat, eat and drink. I've enjoyed all every delicious dish that I've tried on the menu here. Great for a meal for two or a party of 10. Definitely recommend.

My wife and I along with our grandson went for an early evening meal and couldn’t fault it. This is one of our favourite restaurants as the food cannot be faulted along with the typical Thai friendliness makes for a great evening.I started with the Thai crackers then had the spicy minced chicken salad which is just spicy enough to make you keep eating and wanting more. I followed this with drunken stir fry with fried rice and crispy noodles. All cooked to perfection. Can’t fault the food and service - excellent!!!

Curries were incredibly rich in flavour. Staff were friendly and knowledgeable In recommending what sides are the best with certain curries. Perfect presentation and portion size. And the homemade cheesecake was absolutely Devine! This place has definitely made it on to my top 10 favourite Thai restaurants! To add it’s also vegan and vegetarian accommodating!

Id say the food is a little on the expensive side. But worth the price as its amazing. They also have live music some weekends in the downstairs seating area. We ate in but they also do takeaway.

Just a takeaway this time. It was ready on time, waiting in a heating drawer. The food was good, tasty with good quality ingredients. Only downside is the price; quite on the high side.

Not been here for years, went off Thai food, not the restaurant. Visited on a whim a month back with my other half and we were really impressed. Met up with some friends from school this week and they were blown away by the food. One had the sizzling beef and I suspect he is still talking about it now! Service was efficient, I don't think the waiter smiled at all but just his demeanor I guess. Drinks pricey and if I wasn't being served at the table I'd have asked for a top up; when you're paying just shy of £6 for a lager, I think you should. Alcohol free bottle was £4!! 10% service charge, we rounded up and paid 13%, it was a great meal.

Really strong flavours and authentic tastes. Good service, but fabulous strong Thai experience. Must visit. Good value.

Amazing restaurant. The food is consistently excellent and fresh. The staff are lovely and always happy to help. The place is clean and tidy, great ambiance. Would recommend to anyone.

Never been to a Thai restaurant that doesn't serv som tam Thai, or moo Tod. The food was ok, and the service was ok but not worth the £14 service charge. Won't be going again but wish them luck 🤙👍

We were passing through Macclesfield and stopped for dinner here. Lovely ambience, good and wick service. My toddler was grumpy and they got a quick dish for him which settled him down quickly. I would highly recommend their Banana chilli ice-cream

Went on a Saturday night and would recommend booking because the restaurant was full. The food is so tasty that it is easy to see why that is the case. Vibrant flavours. Would recommend.

The food here was AMAZING! I have coeliac disease and could eat well over half the items on the menu. Service was quick and they seemed to be really on top of social distancing and cleaning requirements. Would highly recommend!

Visited with my partner for a mid week “eat out to help out” meal. Table was booked for 9pm as that was all that was available. At 10pm we were asked if we would like another drink. I ordered a large wine and my partner a beer. At 10.15pm we were give our bill (didn’t ask for it) and then the waiter continued to hover around our table picking up the bill an putting it back down again!! After his second attempt to encourage us to pay .. I asked him if we were inconveniencing him ? He replied “yes we ate waiting to close “ !!Why offer us a drink then make us feel so uncomfortable when we try to enjoy it ?! Our bill was over £80 and we ended up sitting outside in the dark on their bench to finish our conversation and drinks !! Shocking won’t be back! Shame ten years I have been enjoying their food !

We decided to give the Chilli Banana a try this evening and weren’t disappointed in the least. Social distancing was maintained. The service was outstanding and the food delicious, great quality and fresh. We’ll definitely be returning again.

Our second take away from Chilli Banana in two weeks. Really delicious, fresh, tasty food delivered to our door. Food just as good as eating in. Love the carefully labelled accompaniments. And as for the satay mushrooms....perfect. Fabulous!

We were so happy to hear that the Chilli Banana was opening up for takeaway. We had to wait a little while due to their high demand but it was worth it. Me and my partner love this venue, the food is exceptional and they are able and willing to cater for both of our dietary requirements. If we have had a hard week of work, our go-to Friday treat is a visit to or from (using a delivery service) this lovely restaurant. as my partner has sent time living and teaching in Thailand, and we both worked for a number of years in a traditional Thai restaurant, we both have a love for the cuisine. The Chilli Banana serves authentic Thai food with exceptional service.

Although we don’t visit very often - not on our doorstep - it is nice to know that the latest meet up with friends at the Chilli Banana was just as enjoyable as last time. I like the prawns in sweet and sour sauce and the fish cakes were again tasty. We had to wait a little after ordering but that just reflects how busy and popular this restaurant is.

We went to chilli banana and we had a fantastic evening, the warm welcome from Ben when you walk into the restaurant. All the staff were very helpful when taking our order.The food was beautiful cooked and it is the best Thai restaurant around. We will defiantly be back.Thank you Joe LP

A warm welcome and a lovely restaurant that most importantly serves the tastiest most authentic Thai in the area. I have lost count of the number of times I have visited the Chilli B and Ben and Dao have consistently delivered exceptional food and service. This has been and remains one of my favourite restaurants.

Conveniently located close to the centre of Macclesfield, this was a great find. The service was quick and friendly, the prices were reasonable and, most importantly, the food was excellent. We had green curry, chicken with cashew nuts, and scallops - all delicious! Desserts were great too. All in all, this is a great Thai restaurant.

Service was slow, food was average!We had to wait about half an hour for our drinks. Our starters came before our drinks.We had a mixed starter for two to start and it was so so.For mains we had drunken noodles which were pure garlic and which we had to wait another half an hour for. Granted the waiter apologised and gave us some crackers on the house, which was somewhat inadequate.I fed this back to the owner who was at the till and his reason for the long wait was that they had 20 takeaway orders - now it was Saturday evening after all.My response - you should have taken on more staff to cope with it. We won’t be back and wouldn’t recommend it.

I have visited many times and use for takeaway, like tonight, but omitted reviewing, probably as I’m full and sleepy.Super fresh food, super friendly staff (and very understanding should you fluff up online booking!)Sunday buffet is great for trying different dishes, haven’t found one I don’t like yet.They now have deliveroo in a weekend, but please only use it if you are desperate. The warm welcome and chat at the bar is all part of the experience.

We went to the restaurant for a family get together and dinner and it was nice ambiance,good food and prompt service. We enjoyed the experience. We look forward to visit again in future.

The menu has reduced in size, but it’s still more than you need to enjoy good Thai food. Prices are reasonable and the wine is not too expensive. Beers on tap if preferred. Friendly staff and parking if required. Good for families as well.

This was our second visit Saturday 14 September and was again very impressed. Welcomed as long lost friends and made to feel valued as a customer. Excellent friendly service from start to finish. Unfortunately time ran out towards the end of the meal so no time for sweets and coffee as we had to catch a train back to Stoke on Trent. Will try to arrive earlier next time. Loved the starters but the highlight was the scallops highly recommended. Again mains could not be faulted the sea bass was a delight. Having choose a curry not highly spiced, although I normally like highly spiced food, the Massamen delivered in terms of depth of flavour and taste. Nice selection of wines and the bottles of the Melbec and Rioja well priced. Overall excellent value 5 person's including pre dinner drinks, starters, mains, side dishes and 3 bottles of wine £259. We will be back soon. Thanks to every one. Special thanks to the waiter who took time out to look up the football results on his phone and update our 10 year old Grandson He was well impressed and is still going in about his meal this morning

Have eaten at CB many times in the past. Ordered a different chicken dish this time and was disappointed to receive rubbery and tasteless processed chicken instead of the real thing. CB isn't cheap, so I expect better. Also I'll echo the comments about poor staff a previous reviewer made. Is it too much to ask that before ten on a Saturday night the staff can hold back from clearing tables and chairs for the following days (Sunday) banquet? Will consider eating at the Thai in Poynton instead of this place from hereon.

Food was lovely, however the service was very poor, so bad we left without giving a tip. The staff were rude and didn’t smile. We felt very rushed, my starter was taken away before I’d even finished it! I don’t think this has ever happened to me on a meal out before! I won’t be revisiting in a hurry

I love this restaurant so much!! To the point my boyfriend and I visited twice in one day (lunch and dinner), but can't go wrong...the food is authentic and very delicious, the service is wonderful and I honestly cannot fault a thing. :)

My wife and I have come here since 2016 and the food is always excellent. They have a great set lunch menu that offers excellent value for money and an extensive al a carte menu and various meal deals through out the week You can even get a great steak too.

We have visited this restaurant on a few occasions for both lunch and dinner and can not fault it. The food is sublime and the service matches it. Well worth a visit!

Nice place to visit, friendly staff, food is good. However I suggest avoiding the Swipii app/point system, due to going to the restaurant numerous times and the app indicating 3000 points banquet for 1, I have been told by the staff it is actually 6000 points banquet for 2, so clearly there is an issue.
