Really top quality experience with lovely food and friendly service. Even with a peak time booking the wait was minimal. Mains, desserts and drinks for 3 all in at circa £50 is a bargain for such great food. A lesson to be learnt by local Sizzling and Stonehouse establishments that are appalling in comparison.

The important thing about this restuarant, is not just the food, which is excellent - the Mixed grill was faultless, and my Sirloin steak and trimmings could not have been bettered, But : The Staff, were the best : The Manager, Mike, could not have been more helpful; As soon as we went in, we met Kirsty, who was so helpful, knew her stuff, and immediately made us feel at home. We were served by Lee and Sophia, who could not have been bettered. Service is everything, the Chet had it in buckets ! Thanks ! Will be going regularly for the Steak night on a Thursday !!

We paid £14 for a beef dinner with hardly any vegetables a spoonful of mash and the meat was tough to eat. When paying we noticed we were being overcharged a pint instead of half and extra potion of roasters, We came out feeling ripped off and still hungry!!

We stopped in for supper mid-week without a reservation but were able to get a table no problem. I'm gluten intolerant, so was pleased at how they appeared to recognise my needs and immediately provided a gluten-free menu with a good range of choices to select from. I chose the gluten free mussel starter, which arrived with some tasty looking bread. In fact, I should have been suspicious at how nice the bread looked but I had ordered gluten free, from the gluten free menu. I had a couple of bites of the bread and even commented to my husband how nice it was, and it was him that asked 'is it really GF?'. I flagged down the waiter, who checked with the kitchen, and came back to apologise profusely that it was in fact normal bread due to a kitchen error. They took the bread away and after a short wait, provided GF bread, and also removed the starter from our bill in compensation. The waiter continued to apologise, but it wasn't his fault. Thankfully I am not coeliac or the situation could have been very serious. I did have some subsequent abdominal pain but it wasn't too bad, so I got off lightly. The rest of the meal was very tasty. So I recommend this place for a meal, but if you are gluten intolerant, be sure to double check everything when it arrives at your table.

Horrendous… requested a nice table and got put with all the dogs which every time you moved barked at each. A child watching a hideous video at full sound on a mobile. We are a family of 4 with children and it was absolutely awful. Asked staff to move us but said they couldn’t. Greene King after working with your head office and we are regulars at this establishment you seriously need to get some training in Not pleasant to be sat in a kennel for a meal

We got a good reception when we arrived there. Took us to our table. Time of the meal was 7pm so wasn’t a late one. They were out of pasta dishes and also sausages and mash. Our waitress wasn’t wearing a mask so felt a little vulnerable. Didn’t have to wait long for the meals and were well cooked. Lovely chips! Wasn’t too expensive - two for one. Not a bad experience during these Covid times, sanitizer by the door too.

You have a dog friendly area which I think is great but it is by the toilet so if you are afraid of dogs you have to go past them. Prime example was last night where there was two husky dogs and I had to step over ones tail. My last comment will not put me off recommending and returning to venue it’s just an observation

We are at Stafford boat club on our narrowboat and decided to try this place. There were two couples in our party and we ordered the following as it was grill night. Two meals and a bottle of wine for 25 quid.2 x mixed grill1 x rump steak1 x sirloin steakSteak on the mixed grill a bit overdone but apart from that excellent meals. Staff were very pleasant and polite.Overall a decent place to eat for pub grub.

Passing so decided to call in for lunch. We had mains only. I had the gammon which came with pineapple and a lovely soft egg. Chips were nice too. My wife had the Scampi which was also very nice. Drinks were served to our table by the nice and friendly staff. Toilets were clean but the louvre windows were filthy. Overall a nice place for pub grub. We don't subscribe to this two for one pricing regime as if you were a single eater the prices would be ridiculous.

We came for lunch myself and my paramedic daughter to thank her for all her hard work. I ordered a lasagne and she had a burger but we were shocked at the prices you charged, for the lasagne with wasn't the best due to having to look really hard to find the meat, so how you can warrant £13 something for a bit of salad 2 slices of gartic bread a small lasagne which was debatable to what it was beggers believe. Plus £14 for a burger, so for your 2 for 1 deal if I was you I would scrap it. I will not be coming back and I have told other friends not to bother either.

With 2 friends, we chose to meet here for lunch on 2nd September, as they had a deal on the 2-for-1, if there are odd numbers at the table. If you order a pudding too, you qualify for the 2-for-1 deal. So, having spoken to the waitress about it, we ordered our 3 meals and a pudding, which I really didn't want, but it worked out cheaper than paying for a full priced meal. When I go the bill however, I was charged full price for my meal with a free pudding. As that isn't how it reads on the menu, I queried it with the waitress, who seemed a bit flustered, went away, then came back to say that's how it works.I am really annoyed that I paid £15 for fish and chips which weren't that good anyway, and then got a free pudding which I only ate a couple of spoons of.There is no way we would have eaten there if it was clear that the deal is a free desert not inclusion in the 2 for 1 deal.

This was our first time back for a meal since lockdown so we were quite nervous. Hand sanitiser on entry, individual menus that are recycled after each use, staff and customers observing social distancing and plenty of space between tables. We both had a lovely meal and there was plenty of it, as is usual from our past experiences. Our only criticism is that we were disappointed to see that only the table tops were wiped down after customers left and not the chairs aswell as obviously we all touch them to pull them out and push them back.

After reading the last few reviews we were dubious about visiting. However our concerns were completely unfounded. From the moment we entered the building we were greeted promptly and we were informed about the new guidelines such as test and trace and to use the sanitiser on entry. I should say we hadn't booked a table and they were extremely busy. They did manage to find us a table. Our server was extremely polite and professional and informed us of some items that were sold out before we ordered them. Drinks were quick to the table and our food was served quickly too. We took advantage of the government offer so had starters, mains and desserts. All of the food was hot and tasty with no problems. Nothing was too much trouble. I would highly recommend this place to anyone. We can't wait to visit again. Thank you all

Went here with a meal with my partner just on the way back from Stafford, staff were welcoming to begin with and were seated appropriately and promptly. Once seated, staff were fast to take orders and deliver to the table. However, throughout our meal we struggled to converse with each other due to loud staff. The girls were talking about their personal lives such as birthday weekends and this was across the pub, practically shouting. Staff were even talking to each other from the kitchen, even swearing whilst their were children in the pub. Manager shouting orders right next to us for staff to clean tables and many of the girls were singing very loudly, as i stated before making it very hard to hear my partner clearly just from the other side of the table. As for food, was clearly microwaved. After finishing starters, we were asked if we wanted to wait a while before having our mains or have them now. Which confirmed our food was microwaved due to it coming out within 2 minutes of the waitress speaking to us. Would not recommend going to this pub if you like to talk with your family/friends during dinner.

We visited the pub today for the first time for dinner. We took a table outside as it was a hot day. Manager was friendly, seated us, and told the waitress to give us a menu. We waited 10 mins to be asked what drinks we would like and we then waited another 10 mins to get a menu, which I had to ask for even though she had been told to give us one along with the table next to us. (I understand people can forgot things when they’re under pressure but it wasn’t that busy- however I just let that slide as mistakes happen!) We waited another 10 minutes to actually order even though the waitress (brown hair with pink fake nails) kept walking past us doing nothing even though we sat clearly waiting twiddling our thumbs. Eventually whilst taking our order she couldn’t wait to get away from us and started to walk off when we hadn’t even finished talking. Not a thank you, smile, or anything. Customer service on her part was awful. We waited 30 minutes (not too long of a time to wait) to get our meals and my god we were very disappointed. I had the salmon (priced at £18.75!!! On the menu) and my other half had the chicken, both off the specials. Both of our veg was cold and watery, obviously microwaved. Dry potatoes. Salmon was dripping in oil (which I was told was because ‘it’s salmon’, which is wrong as I’ve never in my life experienced an oily salmon anywhere else.) Chicken was dry and tasteless. The only thing that was nice was the garlic bread which you can’t physically get wrong no matter where you are. We both left pretty much the whole meal and complained to a lovely male waiter who apologised and ensured us that the manager would be over shortly. The manager came over and asked what the problem was to which we explained and were asked ‘what would you like us to do’ so we said we would pay for our drinks only which we were happy to do. The manager was polite and acted reasonably and explained that she would talk to their chef. Even though it is 2 for 1 (and 50% off due to the current covid situation) it still was a waste of money. It doesn’t matter that it’s 2 for 1 or 50% off we still part with our hard earned money and expect something at least ‘nice’, some people don’t have £15 odd to throw away on a crap meal. Such a shame as the pub has a nice outside area and was lovely in the sunshine. Food presentation needs to be worked on definitely and staff need to be taught how to treat their customers and listen to their manager properly. If the food was decent we would’ve came back to try again, but not now unfortunately.

Lovely place and great staff. Food always been great before COVID19. Unfortunately on Wednesday my meal was very disappointing. I ordered my steak medium cooked but not only was it very thin and riddled with gristle it was very undercooked!! I made my complaint which I was told would inform the chef but I was not offered an discount or alternative. Then dessert was heavy and stodgy. This is such a shame as the pub is great. Staff were very attentive and all safety procedures were being followed but I'm afraid the food was really disappointing. We both ordered Beef lasagne. Well I would say if there was 50pence worth of beef in the dish that was all. Soggy pasta & bechamel sauce on top was barely cooked. We did complain & staff were apologetic and said main chef was not working today. Even in the 2 for 1 deal our meal at £10.50 each was really not value for money.

Against my advice we went for lunch here, this time avoiding the steaks in favour of a range of dishes none of which were a problem. I enjoyed my liver and onions with mash. Service was quick, given there was a full crowd, and if this is seen as pub grub rather than restaurant fare this is fine. Still prefer 7 Stars down the road, but I think they are aiming for a different market and the Chet is much cheaper and for a large family of all ages the Chet is probably more appropriate.

Organised chaos, we had been recommended to try here, ok we had not booked a table, it was on Sunday, yes it was busy but within 10 mins we were seated. Drinks order taken then a few minutes later waitress turned up. Not familiar with the menu when we asked a couple of questions, took our order which was a steak and a beef dinner, 50 mins later I enquired where our meals were, she said she would ask the kitchen. Another 20 mins later I went to the bar to enquire. Think it was the restaurant manager came to our table and said our order had not gone through to the kitchen!!!!!!! Would only take 5 mins to prepare. We declined , we didn’t want a microwaved beef dinner and my partner didn’t want his steak rushed. So we left, the manager apologised, gave her number out to ring and book a table another time, took the drinks off our bill. Yes you have new staff, but a lot of them were hanging about looking lost, need to train them properly. Will not be recommending this pub to anyone , absolute chaos.

It was the end of her shift so that’s what it was . We had food and drinks there 7 of us and my son-in-law even brought us a bottle of champagne. Looking for a halfway point for a family meet-up lunch, between Wirral and the London area, The Chetwyn Arms became our choice, simply based on so many great TripAdvisor reviews – and we were NOT disappointed! Tucked away on the edge of Cannock Chase, the tranquillity of its location was the first ‘plus’; and once over the threshold, we were immediately greeted by the genial manager and bar attendant who welcomed us and guided us through the menu. On a wonderfully sunny Indian summer’s day, we decided to dine in the beer garden, the food served to us being delightful (and though portion size is always subjective, this was just right for us). Attentive service and good home-cooked food are VERY important, far more desirable than plasticky ‘chains’, and not always easy to find. A ‘Paw your dog a pint’ barrel, at the entrance to the garden, was a lovely touch (see photo)! The Chetwynd impressed us, so it may well be our meet-up choice again when, during autumn/winter months, we can enjoy what looked like very comfortable interior spaces. Thank you, all!

Both meals arrived in good time and were piping hot and delicious, decided to follow with desserts which after looking at the good choice wife opted for a white chocolate type cheesecake with a scoop of ice cream while I opted for 3 scoops of different flavour ice cream again both were delicious.....have to say the standard of service from all the staff from barman to the 3 different waitresses who served us was excellent and the bonus at the end was the bill....extremely good value for money as the main course was 2 mains for the price of one....happy days

Have recently eaten here I had the lamb shank which in fairness was edible although the microwaved mash and 4 carrot slices didn’t justify the price tag.

We go most weeks to this lovely little pub/restaurant for steak night. All the staff are lovely and welcoming. Our steak is always cooked just the way we like it. The staff are always helpful and nothing is too much trouble. It is even nicer now that is has had its decor brightened. We actually drive past one of the same chain to go here as we like it much more

Me, my partner and children love to come here. The owner is a fantastic lady who strives in her work. All the staff are friendly and hard working. We have booked large tables for family gatherings and nothing seems to difficult for the owner or staff. The outdoor play area is kept clean and tidy and always maintained for the safety of the children playing. We regularly come here and will continue to come. Highly recommended for family, couples and anyone else who wants a warm welcome and enjoyable atmosphere.

Been here before, usually just for drinks. Never bothered with food side much as service had been slow as far as we remembered. However, decided to go with neighbors to give it a go. We were met by a friendly lady who said if we wanted to wait in the garden area with a drink she would have a table made ready for us.The pub was VERY busy but we got a drink easily at the bar and moved outside for half an hour. Sure enough, a table was made ready and we prepared to order. Now ...this is where the evening improved. A young lady came to take orders. We were having the steak and wine deal and so the order got detailed as to how we wanted the steaks cooked. Could we swap ingredients for salad/jacket ? .....dressings separate ..... etc . 2 different wines... Well, all I can say is that she was superb. Took it all calmly. Got it all perfectly right. When we asked her to find us bottles of wine a bit colder than the ones she bought....No Problem. And a smile.

It had been some time since we last visited. One of our favourite pubs to go to as the staff are friendly and my son love the play area. Some good changes outside making it look more clean and inviting.

The Landlady and Lee are absolutely divine, they both have always maintained the right balance of friendliness and efficiency throughout all the times my partner and I have visited. I honestly can’t fault them, from day one they have exuded in everything. Very clean, the food is lovely and have a great selection of drinks; they keep their Banks’s bitter correctly (according to my partner). Lee makes a brilliant “Passionfruit Martini” too!

Tried this place out as we are in the area for three weeks. I had the ribeye steak which was a bit poor. Tough and not great. My wife had the smothered chicken with sweet chilli sauce which was very tasty. Nice girls behind the bar. Tasty real ale but was given a short measure and had to ask for it to be topped up. Average place to eat. Might give the steak night a go to see if it's improved.

We called here for lunch. It was quite busy, but we found a table and were surprised by the table service. The staff were very friendly and didn’t have to wait long for our drinks or food. This is a Marstons Two for One pub, but we went for the two steaks and a bottle of wine for £20. I must say, the steaks were the best. Cooked beautifully. The staff are lovely and even though they were busy they had time to treat us with courtesy and made sure that everything was fine with our food. It was also nice to talk to Bronya, the Manager. She made us feel like we’d known her for years and made us feel very welcome. This may have been our first visit, but it certainly won’t be our last.

Decided to give what just to be our favourite eating place another go, but wish we hadn't very disappointed again with the quality of the food . Plus for the fourth time in a row there were flies hovering around the table the minute the food arrived we were not the only customers that complained about this. The response from the waitress was very flippant ( it's the hot weather and because the door is always opening) this is not acceptable , when we went there a couple of months ago when it was cold there were flies in there we do not want to try eating our food while flicking the flies away and thinking that they have probably been crawling all over everything.

First time we have visited this place, a warm welcoming friendly reception by Bronya on arrival. We were shown to our table and allowed time to decide on what drinks we wanted. We were served our drinks and then the waitress Kim allowed us time to decide our meals. She asked several times before we actually ordered. The food was served quite quickly, starters were very nice and everyone enjoyed them. The mains were again served quite quickly, they were tasty and as we requested. Too much for us all to complete. Although we protested we could not eat another thing one of the party decided to have one and the other members of the party dominoed and also had dessert. Everybody enjoyed these.

Went here with friends for her birthday, very pleased with the service and food was hot and very tasty. The manager Bronya greeted us and seated us, and the waitress that served us was very friendly and pleasant, as were all the other staff, constantly asking if our meal was ok. Our grandson works in the kitchen here and Bronya let him come out to say hello which we appreciated as it was very busy in there,, and when we were leaving she called him again to say goodbye. Well run place and all seemed very efficient

We celebrated my parents 60th wedding anniversary here last night and I was very impressed with the service we received. We had a side room to ourselves for 20 people, we all had a main meal, which was brought out quickly and was piping hot and very good. The steak pie was delicious). The staff were friendly and attentive and the whole evening ran smoothly due to this. Thank you to the staff for making it so special.

Nice venue, great food, great service, great selection of drinks and very nicely decorated. My only criticism is the aroma in the gents toilets, apart from that, well worth a visit.

We turned up without reservation for Subday lunch and they instantly seated us. The waiting staff took our drinks order right away and we waited at the most 2-3 minutes for our drinks and at most 10 minute for our food. The food was plentiful, hot and delicious and I can honestly say it was sure best Subday lunch I have ever had We cannot wait to return again!

Ideal historic venue for breakfast from the traditional Wetherspoon's wide choice. All excellent value, served by friendly and efficient staff. Toilets were spotless, and the whole place is a real asst to the town (as it has been for 110 years).
