Disappointing meal for return customers. All 3 of us had a bad experience this time. The pie was tasteless with an over cooked crust causing it to be too sharp to eat comfortably. The garlic bread was a cooked bread roll - not a sharing portion. The fish and chips had a brown hair on the plate also causing an upset stomach soon after eating. Very disappointing. Staff were friendly hence the 2 stars yet based on the food will not return any time soon and if this was our first visit we’d never return.

The food, customer service and ambiance are excellent; a very nice outdoor seating area and large indoor dining area split into discreet areas to keep the quant dining experience. Don't be confused by the outdoor appearance and drive past this is truly a " Tardis" building bigger on the inside with a large extension. The menu caters for a quick taisty sandwich with fries to an extensive 1 , 2 or 3 course meal. Can thoroughly recommend it.

Absolutely awful, place is tired and grubby. Bird poo and cobwebs all over the outside tables. Children’s swings have the seat adjusted so only a grown adult could sit on them. They have you by the short and curlys with having to pay upfront at two separate bars. No wine list and a dirty tattered paper menu with a very basic menu. Expect to build an appetite whilst waiting for you food. Starters were just below average and the main (Sunday roast) was dry as a bone, watery bisto, vegetables boiled within an inch of their lives and soggy black and blue roast potatoes The beauty is the waitress won’t return for at least 30 mins to collect your plates and with everyone’s plates being basically untouched she won’t even need to ask if it was all ok for you.

First disappointing meal in many years. Asked for the roast of the day, when it arrived no Yorkshire pudding when asked - they had run out it would have been nice to have been advised prior to ordering. In its place was additional potatoes we were advised. Unfortunately the potatoes were hard and the meal was sent back. Second meal was beef sandwich in gravy chips and salad.fair but not something I’d repeat. All in all won’t be returning anytime soon.

We waited for half an hour to be served (week night so less busy). We were told we couldn’t order at the bar. The starter (bread) arrived half hour later. We waited another half hour to the main which consisted of undercooked chunky chips (not the fries as they were unavailable). Slow service considering the halloumi burger cost £15 and the steak cost £25. Overall, we were disappointed with the meal and service.

This is our local pub and we have been on many occasions before. We were sat at one of the outdoor tables that cannot be pre-booked having drinks, then asked for a menu and checked if it was ok to order food. We were given a menu and made our choices, but before we were able to order another member of staff told us we needed to leave as a different table in one of the bookable areas had 'overrun', they therefore needed the space to move them across to our table so they could free up the booked area... We queried why we needed to move as the issue with the booking over running was not our fault and clarified that our table was not pre-booked by another party. I explained we had been told it was ok to stay and order food. The member of staff was rude and unprofessional in her response and made us feel very uncomfortable around other guests and staff. We did not want to make a fuss at the time and frankly did not want to stay and spend more money there after the way we were treated. We are regular customers, but will now make a point of not going there again and would not recommend anyone else does so.Having spent over £40 the day before on drinks and then an additional £40+ this evening along with tips, we are very upset and disappointed pointed with this situation.

After seeing good reviews we decided to visit for lunch on a Saturday afternoon with our 2 young children. The waitress wasn’t overly pleasant....but the barman was lovely. Gorgeous pub with nice decor and fire going which was great. Unfortunately, for the money paid, the food was not up to standard. We regularly eat out at local pubs and this is one of the worst children’s meals I’ve seen. Tiny portion (my 3 year old was still hungry afterwards) and the cheapest deep fried sausages which, in my opinion, lookedLike those cheap frozen ones you buy in a bag. I would NEVER except sausages at a restaurant/pub to be such low quality meat but especially when it’s being served to children. Our food was ok but for £11 each not the best and very greasy. I was given no cutlery for the children and the lady appeared to huff when I asked for a spoon. NoOne asked if meal was ok at any point otherwise we would have said. Won’t bother going again!

Visited here for a family birthday and anniversary in which some of the family had travelled miles ! We ordered drinks and food which took quite a while to come ,one of the meals ordered wasn’t available and wasn’t available on a previous visit so really this should be mentioned when seated at the table ! Staff were efficient and attentive ! Unfortunately we were put on a table by the door and by the noisiest annoying family ever ! There kids just ran around ,fought with balloons,in and out of the door leaving it open constantly causing a draft which is now October and was chilly ,they threw serviettes all over the floor and were messing with the lit fire and not once did there parents say anything ,we had to ask a member of staff to say something before we did ,this tainted the evening then as we were constantly on edge with them ! To top it off food was average and very expensive . Such a shame as this is a lovely country pub !

The food is incredibly good, they’ve even got a good gluten free menu. The staff are very efficient and courteous. The bar is cosy with a good selection of beers. The only drawback is the dining room which is large and atmosphereless.

Table was booked for 7pm, arrived on time, ordered drinks but had to keep trying to get the attention of the single waitresses attention to be able to place our food order. Once ordered we waited 1hour 20 minutes for the food to arrive which I may add was lovely, just a shame the waitress was so rude and abrupt each time she attended our table. On the arrival of the food we ordered another round of drinks which didn't arrive until after we had all finished our meal x5 people. There was no point in going to the bar for our drinks as you couldn't get anywhere near it and again the one individual working the bar was like a headless chicken. This place looks like it has staffing issues, we noticed other tables struggling to place orders and get the attention of the single waitress, who made no effort whatsoever to hide away her "I do not want to be here" face her customer service skills were zero. Manners and a smile cost nothing and customers should not be made to feel they are an inconvenience. We thanked her at every point but this didn't raise any kind of a pleasant response. Extremely disappointed as I work hard for the money I earn and in the future will spend it where its much more appreciated, we had gone out to celebrate birthdays, uni and a new house, it's ashame they were dampened, it's difficult to get family together so for me family time is very precious, needless to say even though Ive been to this place previously I won't be returning.

After a bad experience in a restaurant further up the road we popped in for a quick meal as we were in a hurry. The young lady who greeted us was very helpful, our order was taken and we only had to wait 15 minutes, the young lady who brought our food to us was very friendly and she was attentive checking everything was ok.

Visited here for tea last night... Was definitely not the best seating... We were sat by the bar, which was not ideal as other people kept coming to the bar to order drinks, while we were eating.... The wait for my food was around 50 minutes, which was only a salad... Then when it finally came my partner went to plate his carvery, just seemed unorganised, also not alot of waiting on staff.... Maybe will return for drinks, but not for food....

We went to the chetwode arms on sunday. The seating was disgusting all badly stained the worst ive ever seen. The food was good. We asked to be moved to another table which they sorted. We wont be going again which is a pity. It would only take a good rug doctor to clean it up

Very disappointed this evening, booked for my family to come here for a roast. The young waitress with dark hair that we had seemed very dismissive and seemed to be giving us dirty looks for the entire time. In addition to this, a child from our group went up to get his roast with the rest of us. He was told really harshly that the sausages were for the adult carvery only unless we paid £1 -£1.50extra. The woman serving the carvery was very abrupt and how she spoke to him was completely uncalled for and rude. This left him upset for the rest of the meal.It took 20 minutes to have our drinks order taken and even longer for them to arrive. The food was okay. The roasties came 15 minutes after our food by the time everyone was half way through. There was hardly anyone there and so I see no reason whatsoever why service was so slow. I have had waitressing and bar jobs in the past, and yet never encountered a set of staff so uninterested and unmotivated. All in all, not worth the money whatsoever. Staff have no hospitality skills. Will not be returning.

Thought wed try the chetwode arms for a family sunday lunch, and we were treated to one of the best carverys weve had. The veg is put out to order, and not kept out for long periods of time. Great choises, and very attentive, and friendly staff. Good selection of real ales as well. Whats to fault .

One of our random “ find a good place for Sunday lunch” searches turned up the Chetwode Arms, a bit of a round trip (94) but worth a go. Unusually told as we booked a table “cash only” apparently the card machine system wasn’t working.

We have to the area recently so we have been trying some of the local places out, and over all they are not bad until we found this pub, food was very tasty and with amazing flavour, I had mushroom chorizo and my wife had fillet steak with chicken I must admit last time had something like that was in top restaurant in London and double the price.

Visited this lovely country pub following recommendations from neighbours. The menu is small but full of home made dishes. As a group of 4 we enjoyed chicken and Stilton pie and vegetables, gammon, sweetcorn, chips and pineapple, chilli con carne and a really meaty pork chop, chips and peas. Really good home cooked food so much better than the normal pub grub. It also means the menu changes regularly. Sensibly priced making eating out a pleasure. Desserts just had to be tried. The whisky bread and butter pudding was suitably named and the apple crumble with custard was a winner too. The Sunday roast advertised at £9.30 will have to be tried another weekend. Delicious home cooked food is always so much better than bought in dishes. We praised the chef and June for a lovely warm welcome and a great meal.

The cafe is efficiently run and we enjoyed the rooftop seating in the sun today. Unfortunately the scone was stale. Quite a shocker for me! What a shame :(

I must echo the views of others. A really lovely restaurant spoiled by sparrows landing on the the table where cakes are being cut and on uncleared tables. Very unhygienic - there must be a way to stop them coming into the tearooms. Never encountered it anywhere else. Health and safety would have a field day!
