Great place for a drink and good food. They show the football and great atmosphere all around. The staff are all friendly and cater to your needs. Highly recommended.

Had lovely Saturday afternoon with family and friends celebrating our Ruby Wedding Anniversary. Food and Service very good. A big thank you to Dave and hard working staff for looking after us and making our day special.

Not the best food! Kids meal was fish fingers, chips & peas but the peas were rock hard. The adult mains, beef lasagna which tasted like it had been kept warm for a long time and had no flavour, the other main chicken curry was like it was straight from a tin, tasteless. All we we’re offered was a free scoop of icecream. Wont be going back!!

Very poor food today chicken and bacon salad ,bowl lettuce leaves with additional ingredients cut up so small almost invisible and certainly tasteless very little dressing Doritoes pre prepared cold from fridge so congealed cheese so stuck together cold cold cold everything else not pleasant

Went to the crown for a family meal yesterday evening and it was great. Food was good and served all together despite there being 23 of us. Staff were really good too, friendly, efficient and very obliging, nothing was too much trouble for them. Great team, well done.😊

Absolutely superb. Friendly atmosphere. Great food and a good choice had 3 vegetarians in the group and there was plenty for them to choose from. Couldn't fault the service. Would definitely come again.

12 of us booked for our works Christmas do this year and it did not disappoint Plenty of choices on menu, and everyone enjoyed their food. The staff were extremely welcoming and nothing was too much trouble. Great atmosphere too Would highly recommend

What a gem! Went for Evening Christmas dinner, group of 7. Food was cooked to perfection and lots of it. Happy staff, food was hot and tasty and reasonably priced. Great atmosphere with live music later in the evening. Perfect venue for an evening out either for food or just drinks. Photos of food dont do it justice, we will definitely be returning for more work celebrations.

We 5 had a good lunch here, and weren’t hurried or hassled but were very well fed and watered. Nice beer and staff too. There’s parking nearby.

Came here twice tonight! Just for a drink before my daughter’s open evening college, but the staff were so loverly we came back for food after. The best calamari I’ve meet had, the atmosphere with the guy playing his records just topped the evening off! Thanks you so much. We shall be back!

Nice atmosphere in pub and staff friendly but my Sunday lunch was awful. Staff asked me abut a minute after placing food down if it was OK well had hardly started. My pork was grey in colour and tough, roasties where like soggy burnt potatoes. Veg was boiled within an inch of its life and parsnip was hard. You pay extra for yorkshire which was tasteless and cauliflower cheese which was not bad. When they took my plate away and I mentioned this staff said but we asked you if it was alright, twice in a high voice. Oh ill tell chef, we paid and left nothing was said on leaving except have a nice day. Will not be recommending to anyone which is a shame as it's a nice atmosphere.

Fellow coeliac- Rejoice! This is a friendly, well-run pub , with a nice choice of safe-to-eat gluten free meals. I had a delicious hunter's chicken with chips and salad, my husband thoroughly enjoyed a vegan bean cottage pie followed by the best ever jam sponge and custard (so he reports!). Handy location for visiting the Abbey, too.

The Crown Abbey is a nice traditional pub with a modern interior. There is a good choice of beers lager and cider including cask conditioned hand-pulled real ales. The cask ales we sampled on our visit were in excellent condition. The staff are friendly and welcoming, and there is outside seating.

Great local with live music and a view of the Abbey

Had roast beef bap plenty beef came with perfect roast spuds. Was quiet when we visited but for sure it won't be last time we visit. Staff great. Food was hot and only about 7min wait. Guinness perfect.

Possible one of the best pubs in Shropshire. Customer service was outstanding and the food well priced and high quality produce used. Thank you to the management and staff for a great experience.

We sat in garden on warm lunchtime. Service was very good. Food was fairly good quality. My first visit to this pub and could be my lunchtime destination the next time I visit Shrewsbury.

Fantastic place to watch the football, impressive beer garden with two large TVs and covered seating with heaters, great atmosphere and great service providing a steady flow of drinks throughout the evening. Would 100% recommend!

Under new management this past year or more, the place, the food and the atmosphere all make it worth a visit. With a homely lounge bar, beer garden and sports bar. Street parking and a large car park nearby, proximity to the River, The Abbey church, the English Bridge and other places of interest. Walking distance from the town and close to supermarkets and a cinema. This pub has everything including a very friendly landlord. Highly recommended. The year's anniversary of the new management and it is going from strength to strength. Musical entertainment, the monthly quiz and a great atmosphere tonight. I've just called in for a late lunch and a quick daytime pint and I had some good, no nonsense food. A pint of Butty Bach shandy, I know sacrilege, was very tasty and not too sweet. I had the Cumberland sausage, mash & peas, gravy boat to add as reqd. Very tasty all round with three large sausages. For dessert I had the apple pie and custard. A lattice pastry crust, caramelized and full of flavour with custard, again served on the side was creamy and more than enough. My meal was finished off with a black coffee, ( with a splash of milk and a chocolate ) and like the other courses it was served, as I prefer, at my pace, not too rushed. Free WiFi, friendly staff and a steady flow of customers. TV available in the beer garden and sports bar, outside seating, again in the garden or at the front of the pub and 3 hours parking opposite the pub. A thoroughly relaxing and pleasant experience that I would recommend on the way back from town or after a stroll by the nearby river.

I first visited The Crown last week and instantly fell in love with it. Clean and lovely decor, friendly staff, lovely wine and great live music. I'll definitely.be back!

Awful from the moment we stepped in. Miserable staff and the young lad with the beard clearly thinks he is gods gift - I believe he was even the manager which was laughable. Told us we could sit 'wherever' seems more interested in talking to the men at the bar. Lipstick on my wife's wine glass which certainly was a poor start. We both had steak and had to sent these back as were not cooked as requested. Overall poor service, sticky tables and dirty glasses. Would not recommend or visit again. Save your hard earned money. and take the Mrs into town for better food and service.

A perfect and warm place to celebrate special moments with family and friends

This is a nice pub. We stopped off for a quick couple after visiting local attractions and were not disappointed. The staff and locals were friendly and they even have free treats for dogs. I'd say give this place a try if you're in the area 👍

Served the best steak I've ever had.

The historic grade 2 listed Crown facing Shrewsbury Abbey provided the ideal stopover for an early Sunday lunch. Already busy when we arrived we were quickly shown to a table and handed menus for our perusal. The various choices on offer were in line with expectations and we promptly placed our order for starters of flaming`shrimp (served with mixed leaves and mayonnaise). This was followed by deep fried scampi and traditional roast beef and Yorkshire pudding. The food was well seasoned and in good size portions. Glasses of Sauvignon Blanc completed the picture. A well prepared and tasty meal, comfortable seating, pleasant ambience, and a competent table service from the attentive young waitress. An enjoyable first visit most likely to be repeated at some future date.

Found the pub very cold and no atmosphere. Not at all welcoming. Empty glasses left on tables, and when they had been cleared, no effort to clean tables. Our table was very sticky, as were the menus! Food about average with parts hot and others luke warm.

Fantastic pub not far from the city centre, it has a lovely warm and welcoming lounge and a larger bar too. Live music on many days of the week, all free entry, give it a go!

Visit our local pub for a late drink . I made what I thought a normal request and ask which country the red wine was from and the female bar staff answered I don’t know and shrugged, (How’s about checking the bottle) she’s was too preoccupied talking to either other staff members. Busy lunchtime near Christmas, had a couple of pints, staff friendly, good atmosphere and dog friendly.

Nipped I for our works night out for a few drink served very promptly and welcomed singer performing we caught the last bit and was really good very welcome atmosphere with seating for groups to sit together

Lovely pub, only found it by chance. Thought we would have a drink while we waited for a taxi. Didn't have anything to eat ,but the meals looked nice when they came out.

As a party of four we booked in for Sunday lunch and were extremely pleased with the whole experience. Service was very friendly and efficient. We all had roast lunches (pork and turkey) which were substantial with plenty of potatoes and veg, and very good value for the money. The pub was busy and therefore very popular so it would be wise to book beforehand. We shall certainly return.

A wet day in Shrewsbury was made very much brighter by this cosy pub! A good selection of real ales and ciders and a nice lunch menu; starters, small plate mains, jacket potatoes and sandwiches, all reasonably priced. The bar staff were very friendly and helpful and service was very good. The interior is cosy and full of character with nice nooks and crannies to loose yourself in and good views across the road to the abbey church. All four of us were more than satisfied with our lunches and would retrun for a future visit!

Only tend to pop in for a quick one when passing to be honest. But always a decent pint/half, and pleasant staff.

Last minute lunch, ad hoc stop and first time in the Crown. Lovely atmosphere and Sunday lunch was wonderful, really tasty and lots of variety of veg. Definitely be back.

Had a beer with a few friends in the beer garden on a Saturday afternoon and it was very busy. Good atmosphere. Good selection of drinks from draught beers/ciders through to a decent selection of spirits. Pricing is what you would expect of a good pub like this near to town. Worth a visit if near to the Abbey.

A fantastic Sunday roast here at a very reasonable price of £12.00. I had pork which came with seasonal vegetables, home made roasties, and gravy. I come to this pub a lot and they’re always really friendly. Decent pints on offer and nice atmosphere. Shows most sport if you ask them also, always happy to accommodate

Delicious Sunday roast. I took my daughters, and they were very impressed.

Parked nearby as the closure of the town centre to traffic meant there was a big queue at English bridge. Never really noticed The Crown pub, it's been refurbished. Pleasantly surprised inside and there was a nice little pave d garden at the rear. Pint of London Pride and an open prawn sandwich and chips. Very good food and reasonable price. Bit of a fuss about providing a table number at the bar, went outside and the table number had been scraped off! Sachets of ketchup, cheap and messy.

A group of 10 of us were visiting Shrewsbury and needed somewhere to go for lunch. My husband and I had visited previously and had been impressed so decided to try it again. I emailed to ask if this was possible and had a reply almost immediately from Dave who said they were happy to accommodate us. We pre-ordered our food before we arrived and it was served very efficiently after our arrival on the day. In fact......we couldn't fault anything. Happy to recommend this pub and will certainly return.

Friendly welcome, we were served very quickly as it was surprisingly quiet on a Thursday evening. The Crown seemed to be one of a few places that served food until 9pm. I had a lovely lasagne cooked in its own enamel dish, nice fresh salad & decent chips. Husband liked his hunters chicken too.

We visited this pub because it looked very nice as we passed by and it was handy for visiting Shrewsbury Abbey and lots of parking nearby. In a Monday lunchtime they were super friendly to us and our 2 dogs ( water provided immediately for them!). The fish and chips was delicious - crisp thin batter and great chips. Service was very quick and friendly. Also very good value. Great place !

Needs to change the menu for a summer menu

I had the pie of the day, and when it arrived obviously it was knocking around for a few days, one side was so dry it was hard. The water consistency if the gravy did not bring it back to life unfortunately. Think it should be called pie of the week not day. After politely asking the server when it was made, she went away and never came back with the answer. The atmosphere was not good from ordering to leaving. Never will be eating there again.

Fabulous pub. Really enjoyed the hunters' chicken, huge portion, and very tasty. I can honestly say the gents loos were the nicest and most pleasant smelling ones I have ever used.

Excellent location, friendly staff, good & well priced meals (though only reason for 4 stars because vegetables were not great), and of course they're preparing to celebrate the Coronation! Would return if again visiting Shrewsbury

This pub is great for a casual drink and dinner. Food is good, service excellent. Nothing was too much for the staff.

Great place. Lovely atmosphere especially with a small band playing folk music. Thoroughly enjoyed the meal. Lovely to see some canines being very well behaved too. 2nd visit not so good unfortunately. Different staff to last night. Didn't have the same service and the same atmosphere. Meal not enjoyable either.
