The place has been nicely refurbished, comfortable seating at the tables, however we waited 40 minutes for our food & when it came our chips were at best Luke warm, the fish was nice & hot but the batter wasn't cooked on the inside, they did do us some more chips, which were hot.

use the Bull regularly and on a whole the food is great but on this occasion not so good.It was very busy and on arrival shown to our table and told we had to wait 40 minutes for food, not a problem i said. ordered drinks and waited, eventually the food arrived ,we all had the roast. All 3 plates were covered in potatoes and i love my carbs but this was ridiculous. hardly no veg at all and very little meat. we also asked for extra gravy/yorkies and you guest it potatoes. They were obviously over stretched but continued to serve to all that entered. This wont stop us from returning as usually very good but they must learn that people need meat and veg!

Just enjoying a fantastic meal in the garden with the autumn sun setting on a warm evening. Friendly and efficient service. Dog friendly. Lovely!

I cannot believe that I paid £17 for a glorified microwave roast. I’m not sure what I was expecting but this was like a school dinner. The veg was from a frozen bag and the meat was dry. We had to order extra gravy to actually swallow it. You’d have to pay me to go again.

Shocking food. Waited ages. The food is like something out of a microwave meal, especially the roast. My 7 month old nephew can do better

I was at the games evening regularly held by the pub and had a great time, lots of friendly customers asking what we were playing. The staff were helpful and swift to attend to my needs, with a great choice of food available for light snacks or a full meal. The garden area is a good size and very well maintained too. A lovely visit!

Lovely customer service, we brought our dog and loved the dog menu, both of our meals were amazing, we will be returning soon.

It’s always such a delight visiting this pub, there is a a lovely home from home atmosphere with friendly staff. Special shoutout to Mantas for the Sunday bingo, it’s a great opportunity to spend time with friends and have fun!

Visited with my grandparents a few days ago. Food was lovely, I had the lasagne and my grandparents had scampi & chips, we all said food was brilliant and came lovely and hot. Service was also brilliant all staff were very friendly and welcoming, even went out of their way to get my nanny a more comfortable chair. Thank you, we will be back ☺️

We came here for Sunday lunch and were told by the bar staff to order on the App. We ordered starters and mains and were surprised when the mains were bought out with the starters! When we told the waiting staff they apologised and told us the App doesn't differentiate between starters and mains! They said they'd refresh the mains and bring this out again once we were finished with the starters. Unfortunately this didn't happen and they bought the same Sunday lunch out which was sad looking by the time it came out the second time round. The food was dried out and the extra meat we ordered was inedible. It also says on the menu you can have unlimited yorkies, roast potatoes and gravy but the staff avoided us after bringing out the mains and were busy with other customers, so we couldn't order more. The starters were also overcooked and a different member of staff served us each time. I would have thought the kitchen staff would see two starters and two mains and would know not to prepare it all at once! There must be lack of communication between the waiting staff and kitchen staff as well as it was not freshly prepared food that came out but mains that were sat in the kitchen keeping warm. We would not come back as it's expensive for the poor quality of food served.

Booked a table for father day as my parents were visiting from Spain. not sure what to expect as heard some reviews. really close to where we live so a short walk, seated straight away by really helpful staff. ordered drinks and food , we all had the roast as being a Sunday it didn't disappoint . atmosphere was great lots of family's present, will certainly be going back.

Me and my partner "aka" Costa man have been quite a few times here and love the great service we always recieve especially from Emma and Amy tonight who were working their socks off as bery busy we both ate off the new menu and it was excellent thank. you to all.

Visited The Bull with family, loving the new menu, nice park for the kids to play whilst we enjoyed some food in the garden. Great staff, very friendly and knowledgeable! Will be returning again soon!

Attended a wake this week at The Bull, it was organised extremely well by the manager Emma, all the staff were amazing especially Deanna, Lennon and Aimee on the bar. The food was great, lots of different choices from hot and cold. Would highly recommend to anyone who is looking for somewhere to hold a wake or even go for food and drinks.

Visited at weekend, service was extremely slow waited over 30 mins to get drinks and over an hour for food, waitress was not really interested just said they where busy. If you cannot cope why take so many bookings. Food as always good but spoilt by very long delays.

We went and sat in one of the huts outside, looked nice, plastic sheet on table was dirty when we were seated so not a great start. Server took out drinks order and then we waited. 15 min later we got our first lot of drinks then waited another 10 min for the rest. The server then asked if we wanted to order now because its a 40 min wait on food. So 4 lasagne, 1 fish and chips, 1 fish pie, 1 rack of ribs and 1 portion of chips later food ordered. Then we waited, which was fine( we did have a lot to catch up about) Food comes Fish pie and the Lasagne pipping hot and looks delicious, lovely looking piece of fish with a great amount of chips and 1 plate of ribs with tons of chunky chips. This is were I was disappointed. Ribs had no bbq sauce on them it was all dried up. I asked for no coleslaw as I cant eat Mayo ( I did let the server know that it makes me ill) and yet on my plate a side of coleslaw. The chips were delicious. Ribs tasted ok but not the greatest. We finished , server asked if we wanted pudding and we said yes. Server comes back 15 min later , "sorry you can't have dessert as the kitchen is closed , it closed at 9 and it's now 9.30 " we booked the table for 7.30. It would have been nice to be informed that the kitchen was closing and we could ordered our pudding early but to be told nothing is unacceptable. We did laugh with the server and told them we were not happy. Paid the bill and then we were told that we could have had pudding because we complained but it was a bit late as we had already paid and they were not giving it to us for free. I personally think too many tables booked , inside the restaurant was full and then they had their outside seating with not enough staff. The Server we had was good. Not sure we will be rushing back anytime soon. Its a shame because we have gone there many time before and always had a good meal and never waited that long for anything

We visited here in June 2021 to sit in one of the outside cabins, as we had been very impressed with the effort the Chesnut Tree had made during the pandemic/lockdown to offer outdoor dining; a mix of some open and some undercover; in pods or cabins. Unfortunately there was a long wait for our food, it was about 15-20 minutes before our order was taken, and then we had an hours wait from that point for our mains to arrive as our ticket somehow got lost and people who had arrived after us were getting their food first. However, the waitresses were apologetic and honest about this mistake which I do appreciate rather than trying to cover it up - though I do feel it would have been a gesture of goodwill if some sort of discount had been offered - even if it was just free drinks this would have been nice. Due to this long wait it did mean that our plans for that day had to be changed, as we weren't able to go onto our next activity as we were too late for it. However, despite the long wait the food was amazing! It arrived looking fresh and very well presented; the portion sizes were really good and it was all really hot which I was really pleased about. I had the hunters chicken (no cheese) and my partner had a pizza and chips which he was very impressed with, and said it was one of the best pizzas hes had in a long time. After our mains were finished we wanted to order desserts, but again unfortunately service was quite slow and no one approached us, I did feel like we were forgotten about a little - whether this was due to being in one of the cabins I don't know. After 15-20 minutes I flagged down a waitress, and we both ordered the biscoff cheesecake. Luckily this arrived much quicker than mains and it was delicious! Again it was really well presented, you could tell it was home made and it was excellent quality. Comes with a choice of icecream or pouring cream which is great. We were both really impressed with it. Once again it took a long time for anyone to bring us over a bill, so in the end we went up to the outside bar to pay. We had been overcharged by £1.50 but this was quickly rectified without any query. All in all this was a very enjoyable experience, the food quality/prices/portion size was fantastic, and the atmosphere/setting was great. The main reason I haven't rated it 5* star is just to do with the slow service/long waits/being overcharged, but they really made up for it by the quality of the food and the effort they have put in to make the Chesnut Tree stand out above other establishments for their various outdoor seating options. We will definitely visit again!

Had a meal at The Chestnut Tree last night with teenage kids and grandparents. Sat in one of the wooden pods outside (saw the review about someone getting a bad back from the benches, so we moved the benches near the table and we had no problems). The garden is lovely with a nice play area for little ones. Good all round menu with something for everyone. Really friendly staff who were helpful with everything, like gammon was overcooked and they quickly replaced it with no fuss. Unfortunately had run out of handpulled bitter and nearly all bottles except one. But reasonable lager selection. Felt safe with all the covid measures they had in place. At the end of the evening Alan the landlord was really kind and helpful in making sure the grandparents got home OK. Would definitely go again.

Rang the chesnut tree for a delivery takeaway the gentleman who answered the phone was charming polite and efficient he was so helpful and so polite the food came on time piping hot and massive portions the delivery driver was freindly and polite the potions where massive and lovely catered for vegetarian to lovely tart and chunky chips the fish was massive and chips where gorgeous so I was told and boy oh boy the burger was out of this world the best in norwich juicy moist and just pure lushness pure delight and every biteful made you want more and more you really did not want the enjoyment to end the chocolate fudge cake was moist full of chocolate and was pure delightful and lush very much enjoyed our food I was told the cherry crumble was to die for outstanding Thank-you so much for a lovely meal a pure delight will definitely recommend and definitely order again from you really lovely food lush xx

Had a very nice meal last Saturday night outside in one of your new sheds. Sadly over the last few days suffered with a bad back due to having to sit on the very edge of the hard bench seat to reach the table. Not just me but all 6 of our group couldn’t reach the table without being perched on the edge of the bench. Also not enough menus and trying to read upside down menu stuck to the top of the table doesn’t help when trying to balance on the bench. Make the tables wider please as it’s spoiling the great food.

"I'm never buying another takeaway/delivered Sunday Lunch ever again!!"How many of us have said that as we get the succession of awful ones from places we would happily eat in at.However that all changed with the Chestnut Tree it was simply amazing. Everything was perfect, piping hot and so so much.Seriously the best |Sunday lunch I've had in years and all in the comfort of my own home.

Had Sunday lunch delivered to our door yesterday - amazing. Food was delivered spot on time, piping hot and delicious. Have eaten at the restaurant many times, never disappointed. This was the first time we have tried the roast delivery and couldn't fault it.

Last Sunday I ordered a chicken roast dinner to collect from The Chestnut Team, I was unsure how this would go as I’d never had a roast dinner to takeaway. But it was amazing, service was great - food was ready on time for us to collect, it was packaged very well, all the food was still hot by time we got home, and the food was absolutely delicious! Will definitely be ordering this again. :)

Decidimos en el último minuto salir a almorzar. Envió un correo electrónico para ver si había espacio y recibí una respuesta muy rápida de Chris diciendo que habíamos reservado. Llegamos al mediodía y ambos pedimos el asador del domingo con rosbif. La comida se sirvió rápidamente y estaba bien caliente. Los budines de Yorkshire eran caseros, agradables y crujientes. Había mucha carne, muchas patatas y 5 tipos de verduras. Fue muy bueno. Yo era codicioso y pedí la bagatela de Jerez que estaba tan buena que quería otra, ¡pero mi esposa me detuvo! ! ! !Las precauciones de COVID estaban todas en su lugar y se cumplieron, nos sentimos muy seguros y recomendaríamos este pub a cualquiera que desee una comida agradable y relajada en un entorno encantador.

Disfruté de dos visitas en una semana, comí con amigos en una vaina de jardín el lunes y comí con mi hija y su novio el viernes. Ambas noches muy agradable y buena comida. Personal amable, el lunes por la noche muchas gracias a Rebecca, que fue muy atenta y nos cuidó muy bien, nada fue un problema, el mismo lunes, pero no obtuvo el nombre de las camareras. La comida era deliciosa, buen menú. Me encantan las cuñas de queso brie para empezar. Gracias castaño nos vemos pronto.

It was my 1st visit today for a Sunday roast. Would recommend. Had a lovely meal. The place was nice. The waitress Molly couldn’t do enough for us. We will definitely return again soon.

Esta fue nuestra primera visita al Castaño y no será la última. El pub en sí es encantador, luminoso y muy limpio. Visitamos a la hora del almuerzo y nos sentamos rápidamente. La comida era excelente y nuestro camarero, Chris, fue muy atento con nosotros, así como con mi hija de 2 años, que era preciosa. También disfrutó jugando en el área de juegos después de nuestra comida. ¡Nos veremos de nuevo muy pronto!

Visité para almorzar hoy en el último minuto y me sorprendió gratamente poder conseguir una mesa en el último minuto. El personal fue atento desde el principio y nos dejaron elegir una mesa que estaba bien. Tuve la tarta vegana y mi compañero comió estofado y albóndigas. Ambos eran realmente encantadores y sabrosos. Mejor aún, no nos habíamos dado cuenta de que caían debajo de las 2 comidas por 15. . . ¡resultado! ¡No puedo dejarlo y definitivamente regresaré! ¡Qué lugar tan encantador!

Visité aquí para almorzar el viernes la semana pasada y el servicio fue un poco lento, pero la comida lo compensa, ya que fue brillante, tuvimos una comida de tiras de pollo, una comida de langostinos y una comida de bistec y todos fueron geniales y salieron rápido, creo el servicio bajó un poco el lugar, ya que puede ser muy lento y tener que seguir buscando al servidor o llamando a alguien para ir a la cocina.

Acabo de tener una experiencia encantadora aquí. Velada con mi mamá. Estaba muy deprimida y esto realmente la animó. No reservamos, pero nos consiguieron una mesa de inmediato y el servicio fue excelente. Nos cuidaron y la comida era estupenda y muy caliente. Qué buena selección. Todo el personal muy amable. Y Chris fue de gran ayuda. Me encantó la instalación del jardín y espero volver y reservar una de las cápsulas de jardín. Recomiendo encarecidamente este lugar.

I have had three meals here since lockdown with family and friends. Have really enjoyed all the food, sat in garden on a couple of occasions, tables covered in plastic and menu under so all nice and clean. Lovely lady who served us very friendly, I love the brie wedges which is a starter, the white chocolate waffle is lush. Will return very soon.

Went for a meal here this evening and the service was so slow and the food was definitely average.... we even had to send an order back as it was so over cooked! Our starters came out at the same time as our mains and not one staff member had a mask on and social distancing was non existent... did not feel comfortable and no one seemed to stick to the one way “rule”

The resturaunt was probably 50% occupied during our time there, with lots of staff running around "looking" busy.I'm not sure if there was some sort of miscommunication, but after an hour's wait, all of our starters and mains came out together? Quite bizzare. The Pizza was unfortunately quite overcooked and sent back.The staff were nice and friendly enough, and we're apologetic; which is what's holding up the review.

Myself and my family will not be coming back! Three of us ordered pizzas that came out in TAKEAWAY boxes not plates with no explanation why, nor an apology which I thought was extremely rude, and when asking all we got from a member of staff was ‘ well we have ran out of plates’ got a dirty look as she walked off. Secondly they forgot to give us our side until we were nearly finished which I don’t find acceptable. Lastly I would really like to point out that we were the first one sat in the area next to the back door. Within 5 minutes another family arrived and was sat directly behind us of which DIDN’T meant the 1m plus rule the common sense of staff was appalling as no one else was in the area and they could of been seated the other side of the room (we where the same size family and all the tables had the same number of chairs)

It was a busy lunchtime with the 50% off Help Out to Eat Out offer, we hadn’t booked and were surprised to be accomodated. Having been seated inside the pub we felt that the tables were too closely spaced, our drinks order was placed and they arrived in a timely manner, not so of the food! We had been seated for nearly an hour before our food arrived. The must have been expecting a busy service due to the offer and the fact that they had had tables booked. More staff were certainly needed, and those that were there needed to be more attentive.

Just got back from having a meal with a friend here. Excellent service with lots of outside seating and a bar outside too.Food was delicious, we ordered the 2 meals for £15 ( in the eat out offer too so actually 2 meals for £7. 50)Scampi and the chicken strips, both meals served with chips and salad / peas. Homemade chicken strips were delicious, we managed to sample dessert too and there was a very good choice on offer too so will have to return here.Fantastic service, polite and friendly staff and lovely restaurantWell worth a visit and would recommend this place too

Nice pub/restaurant, well priced, friendly.Felt uncomfortable with the "no masks" approach. As people who wear masks at work all day and whenever shopping etc. I had hoped that we could relax and eat and drink without a mask but that we would feel 'safe' as the staff would be behind masks and screens etc. but the staff are freely walking from table to table, getting close to every single table of people and then moving to the next one without any protective gear at all. Won't go back again unless this is addressed, seems to go against everything we are all having to do everyday.

We were in Norwich so our son could sit his RAF exam . We had 3 hours to kill so decided to go get something to eat. We looked on trip advisor and the chestnut tree looked gold and only 2 minutes from the RAF place. Beautiful bear garden . An outside bar so you didn’t need to go in . All the outside tables had plastic sheets over them and the menus were all underneath so very safe. The waiter came to us so we didn’t have to que. so much to chose from. We had from the 2 for £15 menu. I had the chicken. Ham leek pie with fries and gravy. My husband had ham egg and chips (his favourite) all was very good and large portions. The staff were very friendly and a good safe atmosphere. We will definitely visit here again if we return to Norwich

First pub meal since lockdown. Lovely food, friendly service and observed distancing by all. We felt safe and satisfied.

We have ordered takeaways from this restaurant quite a few times during lockdown. Most times they miss something off the order, twice we had a really nice meal, but all the others the meal arrived incomplete or stone cold. Tonight we gave it another shot, but they turned up over three quarters of an hour late, with no apology so we turned it away. We were told to get a refund via Just Eat but they don’t seem to want to know, so we have paid for a meal we didn’t get. Give these a swerve if I was you.

Just been out to the Chestnut Tree for our first meal out since lockdown, and have to say the new procedures in place are good. Markings at the bar, plastic on the tables with menus on show underneath, and our roast dinners were beautiful. Lovely safe play area for the children too. We did order from the Chestnut Tree during lockdown and the food was okay. Has definitely redeemed itself to us today.

Me and my family popped here for lunch, everything about the visit was perfect from being looked after by the lovely Phoebe to all COVID 19 rules being followed. The children’s meals are great sized portions and the white Chocolate and Raspberry waffle is to die for Great to have you guys open again

What a pleasure it has been to visit the Chestnut Tree since their re-opening after lockdown. The management and staff have gone above and beyond to make sure all areas are clean, tidy and following COVID-19 recommendations. I felt really safe returning to eat here and it is great to see all the friendly staff once again. The pods outside are a lovely additional touch and a great place to sit whilst maintaining distance to others. I have tried a couple of dishes from the new menu and they were both incredible. Can’t wait to try more!!

Rude management, cold food, unhygienic, flat drinks to say the least. Food was returned manageress had no customer service skills. Tables were dirty and had previous people’s drink spillage. Waitresses wearing false nails and then were told this was allowed. Lack of communication between staff. Not following COVID procedures not a safe place to be eating at! Will be reporting to environmental health

We, like many others have been trying to support local businesses through lockdown. Originally we first ordered from the Chestnut Tree through Just Eat, with a delivery charge of £2.50. Upon our food being delivered, our delivery lady gave us a menu & advised delivery was free if we phoned the Chestnut Tree direct. Great we thought as the food is brilliant!We have since ordered 3x as a weekend treat. Strangely, the lady on the end of the phone who took our order each time, never confirmed the total price of our order. Each time, as the 'free delivery' ticket on the menu advised, you had to spend £20, fine, we had, until for the first time last night, we actually had a printed receipt. On the receipt it stated a charge of £2.50 'Misc Soft'. I called the Chestnut Tree today to find out what this charge was for only to be told it was for delivery!I said we had followed their instruction on the front of their menu, only to be told I had to quote 'free delivery' when placing the order!Food here is fabulous, but very disappointed with this misguidance so be aware!

We have had three birthdays so far during lockdown and because all eating out was cancelled we used the Chestnut Tree delivery service for all three birthdays with family members living in Hellesdon, Sprowston and Spixworth. We found the service and standard of food on all three occasions to be absolutely first class. We just cannot thank the staff enough for making very difficult circumstances so very enjoyable. We will certainly be ordering again even without birthdays!!!

We ordered a takeaway delivery from The Chestnut Tree a week or so ago, which was really delicious, food arrived spot on time and was hot. We have eaten at the Chestnut Tree a few times and never had a bad meal, so ordered a takeaway for last night. The food was delivered on time, but was stone cold. I ordered a bacon and cheese burger, the cheese was just a congealed lump and it was a total disappointment. We wanted to try and support local business during these unprecedented times, but I would have to think again before ordering from them as it’s a lot more expensive than we would usually spend on a takeaway. We weren’t going to say anything but having slept on it, thought it was worth pointing out.

During this difficult time we wanted to support our local pub restaurant. Brilliant work adapting to a takeaway delivery service. Food was plentiful and nice and hot with lots of choice on the menu. Prompt delivery service. The Hawaiian burger and fries was delicious as was the madras curry. We will definitely be using again. Thank you.

A friend and I had lunch at the Chrstnut Tree yesterday and it was extremely good. All the food was piping hot and looked clean and fresh. The chips were terrific, not the usual things out of the freezer.This was my third visit over a few months and the quality has not slipped since it opened which is often the case. Good service and good food.

Went for Sunday lunch on 23rd February and we had a carvery which was very nice, but a bit light on veggie variety but it was all well cooked and we enjoyed the meal.For a busy Sunday the service was very good we were served byABBIE who did us proud, well done guys

This visit was spur of the moment, the staff and customer service was superb, even though we didn't book the staff accommodated us and fitted us in. The food was lovely and you got plenty on your plate and reasonably priced if you go would advise booking.

Me and my 2 children went to try the new breakfast menu and we wasn’t disappointed, hot and well presented food with excellent service from Michele! Even better kids eat free with a paying adult it was a great start to our day.

We visited for a Valentine's day meal. There were six of us in our party all with diverse tastes that were well met. Staff team were good and efficient, we were very pleasantly surprised by how well balanced the meals were with fair portion size and good presentation. We will visit again.

Good food, good prices on mains with a selection at two for a tenner, ok for the money. Desserts and starters are where they get you. Very nice but quite expensive. The fried Brie as a starter is more like a main course though! We all liked our food. Also found it quite noisy, this place can't seem to decide whether it wan'ts to be a pub or a restaurant. Nothing really to complain about though but I think there are nicer places around. Also has had a bit of a tatty refurbishment... very drab and grey.

Great value family friendly pub. Came in for a meal recently with the family as this is our local, and often pop in for a pint at the bar, always had a very good experience. Staff are polite and food is consistently good as is the beer at a reasonable price. Really appreciate this now as our local after it being so poor for so long when it was the Bull. Play area also a hit as my four year old is always crazing to go to the pub. Lol

Waited nearly 40 minutes to get served, one person had fish and chips and the fish batter was soggy and not cooked told them but did not want to now, ordered five desserts and only brought four said other one was coming, all the others had finished their desserts so had to ask where the last one was they had forgot, then ordered five coffees and only three came, when there at 12.30 and came out 3.15pm.

Thought we would try the old Bull Pub in Hellesdon for a quick out of the city bite to eat. The setting was nice, good decor and the service was very good. The food was priced reasonably and although we had the two for £15 main lunch menu there was ample. My fish cakes had a really odd taste and I thought it was Blue Cheese but the chef advised our server it was possibly capers,dill or spring onion. Not quite sure it was what I could taste as one fish cake was lovely, the other somewhat inedible for my tastes. Desert was the mini rhubarb and apple crumble with ice cream. Very tart fruit under the crumble not too sweet although a little watery at the bottom. Crumble was nice. Fair price for pub grub and a nice setting. Would revisit.

We had cause to call in the Chestnut tree on the 23rd December in the evening. Despite them being busy they got us a table no problem at all. The staff were so friendly and engaging especially Phoebe is very good at what she does. Always smiling and not over the top whilst looking after us. The food as ever was spot on and all at a reasonable price. Three times we have been here and all three visits have not disappointed. Well done guys keep up the good work.

Really impressed service was great, not hounded, Burger not greasy and good sized portions, great deserts with clean plates by all!!! Well worth a visit!

No complaints at all. Despite being very busy, the staff were freindly and attentive. The food was good and very reasonably priced.

Went there as a family group of 16 for a Christmas meal I was not expecting to much but was please impressed. The meal was served promptly and was very good quality. The pub was full so staff were under pressure but they did fantastic. Would definitely book again, I dropped them a £20 tip as I was happy with service, value for money

Very disappointed to the recent visit to the Chestnut Tree. We had booked a table for 6 people at 8oclock. We arrived five minutes before and told that our table wasn’t ready and to go to the bar for a drink which we did. The manager said that they were just laying our table and it wouldn’t be long. 15 minutes later we went back to see if our table was ready only for the manger to look confused as she had given our table to another table of 6 even though the booking was under a different name. 8:45 we were finally seated in a round table where one member of the party chair was in the walkway and had to get up every time someone wanted to get pass. The manager came back and asked us all if we could be move the table round to get out of the way of the walkway which we did. At 9pm the live music had started it was a mission to hear each other speak and order our food. The food took around 45 mins to be served. We found the manger very rude and abrupt when trying to sort out any of our requests. The waitresses were working very hard to make everyone happy. I wouldn’t recommend an evening time dinner here, very hectic and unorganised for a busy restaurant. Compared to the Oak tree very disappointed.

We had our Group Christmas Lunch here last year for 52 people and it was a huge success and gave it 5 stars.

Just back from a visit to the Chestnut Tree for a 2 Course Xmas meal (£16.95). It did not get off to a good start, staff were late in opening up, so we were left outside for 5 minutes or so in the cold. A grudging sorry was obtained but only after I pointed this out. To describe the meal as adequate would be flattering, in particular the vegetables, sprouts and carrots, were raw despite being sent back twice. The lame excuse from the Manager was that chef cooked them "al dente"; rubbish that means neither hard nor soft not that you can't get a knife or fork to dent it !

Today we got there late and the place was heaving but they found us a table and served us with our drinks and food within 15 minutes which was very good for how busy they were.

Lunch today but the meal could have been hotter And it was very cold in there ? I got butter for my bread and couldn't spread as it Obviously came straight from fridge very annoying

We went to Chestnut Tree for lunch and I am sorry to say that it was disappointing. The restaurant was not busy and yet we were taken to a table in the middle of the main walk way and we’re told that all other tables were booked. There were lots of empty tables which remained empty until we finished our meal. The restaurant was noisy as all the customers had beef grouped together in a small area. We waited 55 minutes for our meal to arrive. The meal was dried up and unappetising. We didn’t stay for a dessert. The staff were preoccupied and unfriendly. We have been to Chestnut Tree several times since it opened and have had a reasonable meal for the price but this was not a good experience and it seems that unfortunately the restaurant seems to be going downhill.

the food was delightful and i thoroughly enjoyed the service. i would definitely return to The Chestnut Tree.

We booked a table for 1230,arrived on time and waited 15 minutes for the menu.Only one waitress on duty for the whole place. Waited another 15 minutes to order the food and another 25 minutes before it arrived. Chicken O.K. but the veggies under-cooked and not very tasty. We ordered desserts and had to call the waiter to find out where it was! Reply was we have a large party in and they had priority!!!!! Must admit that the Cheese board was very good, but the general service and organisation left much to be desired. This was our first and last visit.....

We booked for lunchtime on Sunday. We were dealt with quickly on arrival and shown to our table in the conservatory area which overlooks the garden. We opted for the carvery which was very nice with a good selection of meats and vegetables. Food was very tasty, staff were friendly and efficient and we would definitely visit again

the chestnut tree is a very good restaurant/pub they have a very varied menu which we thought was good they have some fantastic deals on meals and the staff are welcoming and freindly well worth a visit

The restaurant was very busy and after we were seated at a quite comfortable table it took at least twenty minutes before our drinks and food order was taken both were slow to arrive. Service was friendly and polite pity about the slow service. Food was what you would expect for the price it was offered at, what do you expect for five pounds a head? However the food was reasonable, must say the chips were very good. There are three options of menu. Two mains for ten pounds, two for fifteen or normal menu at higher prices order separately and comparable in price to other pubs.

We had been advised to book for lunch and glad we did. They were very busy. The menu choices are great and also good value especially either the 2 for £10 or 2 for £15. Great service and considering how busy they were we didnt really wait too long for our meals. We are back here next week with some friends who had already recommended it.

We decided to go out for a meal at the last minute so hadn’t booked a table. It was about 5.30pm when we arrived, it was already fairly busy but fortunately we managed to get a table. The sharing platter was very good, plenty of food and variety. Our burgers were also good, food was lovely and hot, struggled to eat it all. The staff were helpful and polite. We enjoyed our Pub food and would definitely go again but would probably book in advance next time.

My partner & i regularly visited the sister pub (approx once a week) the oak tree which is excellent. We recently moved to Hellesdon..... The chestnut tree is a differnt story. The food was ok, i could've done better at home though. The service was poor and one staff member i found to be rude. We wont be going back even though we live less than a mile away. I would rather give my money to another local pub in Drayton which is further away but the food and service is much better. Its a shame when your first visit is a let down, first impressions last!

Have been to the Chestnut pub for meals lunch time found it was clean and waitress good We always have the two for £10 meals as being old age pensioners find ir good value also we are not big eaters and find it suitable for both of us We have booked it for next Friday everyone seems friendly there

Unfortunately have had to visit and try and eat on 4 different occasions, family events, as not a lot of dinning choices in the Hellesdon area. So from a large family event of 12, aged 6 to 60yrs, trying the complete menus, to group of 5, and just couples dinning. I can honestly say, this pub has poor food all round.

Loved it here, something for everyone! Eaten here twice now and have to say the food has been lovely, the only reason it’s not five stars is the cappuccino? I’m a bit of a snob when it comes to that and I’m afraid it was not great both times. BUT the food, service, price and ambience were lovely. We had two starters, two off the ‘two for ten’ menu, two soft drinks and the cappuccino and the whole bill was £27!!!!!!!!

We had always had decent meals previously. Never needed to complain before.

First time me and my friend have been in here, really enjoyed it decor is lovely service really good and the food amazing will definitely be back again.

Rarely write reviews on here but this place deserves a mention. Had the burger and chips meal. The burger was horrible. Cheap meat with a tiny portion of super fried chips. Wife had a salad she returned (how do you get a salad wrong?!) then waited ages for a replacement which was equally as bad.

3 of us had lunch here and none of us were unhappy, food was lovely and hot and staff were friendly and helpful.. see you again soon

I visited The Chestnut Tree for the first time this evening with two of my good friends. The food was lovely. Piping hot and very tasty. We chose two meals from the two for £10 offer and one meal from the main menu. Portion sizes were just right and we didn’t have to wait too long for our food to arrive. I’m gluten intolerant and found that there were plenty of options on the menu for me to eat and they were marked very clearly on the main menus, which for me was fab as it gets very annoying having to wade through an allergens folder that can be complicated to decipher that some establishments tend to have. I was surprised at how much choice I had! I felt it was great value for money as the food was not over priced and they had two different offers on during the week of two meals for £10 or two meals for £15 plus the main menu as well. The service we had was brilliant, and our waitress was lovely. We will be visiting again!

Came here with a group of friends and we were all really impressed with the quality and portion sizes of the meals really great value for money I hope it is consistent as I find a lot of establishments who offer 2 for £10 etc are extremely inconsistent with portion sizes so fingers crossed. Service ok nothing above and beyond but perfectly acceptable.
