My family and I stopped here by chance on our way home from a day trip and we are so glad we did! The staff were extremely friendly, the pub itself was clean and clearly abiding by all the covid regulations, even down to a one way system which took you in through the main door and out through the garden. The food was lovely and very reasonably priced and I had quite possibly the best pint of Everards Tiger I have had in a long time. We sat outside in the very nice courtyard garden. I would highly recommend this pub.

Went for lunch last week which was good as always. However wife had a brandy which was served in a frosted glass that looked like a cross between a sample glass and a tooth brush holder. The brandy barely covered the bottom of the glass. A half of Guinness was served in a thick tumbler with a picture of a bearded man on it - not Arthur Guinness ! Get some decent glasses please Cherry Tree.

Lived in Harborough for a number of years, frequented the Cherry Tree once of twice a month for a drink. So not having the kids for the night, we thought we would go down for an evening for a meal. Well where do I start..? I ordered a chicken burger, the size of the single fried piece of chicken barely covered half the size of the burger bun, very disappointing. Most of the chips where cold, some where hot..? Were the cold chips served up from from a previous meal that was not fully eaten..? The bottle of Heinz ketch up was not Heinz, it was a cheaper, runnier, orange in colour alternative, to which even the barmaid admitted was not Heinz...! Why falsely mislead the customer with a non-genuine product, surely this is wrong..? Everything about both of our meal’s was very very disappointing. I certainly would NOT recommend eating at the Cherry Tree again. Even when I complained, the staff did not appear to care or offer an apology. MR Everard, I hope you are reading this, in comparison to other Everard establishments, this was EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTING and I would certainly stir clear.

I will be the first to admit I always have the same meal at the Cherry Tree, but I still love it! Whether with friends, my husband, children or even on my own there is a lovely, laid-back feel to the place. My niece particularly enjoys the climbing frame in the children’s beer garden but if you’re not a kid person there’s an adults beer garden too. They are dog friendly in the bar and the outside spaces. I highly recommend this lovely pub.

MORE AT TripAdvisor

A couple of times a year we meet up with friends in a pub about an hours drive from where we each live. This time it was the Cherry Tree Inn chosen because of it’s Sunday lunch and large outside seating area. Lunch was a generous plate full, with a choice of meats. Well priced for a two course meal with fast and friendly service. It is a popular place with two lunch sittings so you should book. We were there for the 12 noon slot. Had a great time eating and chatting. As the 2.30 slot was about to start, and they needed our table, we were very politely asked if we would move to the bar area to free up the space. This is a pub which has more eating space than pub space so it was quite full in the bar area and very loud so, once the second sitting was over we moved back to an empty table, which was fine. Sadly we didn’t get to sit outside due to torrential rain all day. There is lots of seating in the garden as well as a covered, heated, smoking area. Not sure how the smoking impacts on the garden and people eating there. The outside area is described as an "Adult garden" so perhaps children aren’t encouraged and, by the tone of one of the reviews here (Garry H, Leicestershire), they don’t seem particularly welcome. Restaurant and bar staff were really friendly all day so the staff response to a one star review (thatjwestbourne, Las Vegas) is surprising. "Once again a spineles reviewer who hasn't got the balls to come to the bar and speak with the Landlord / Landlady. Instead they take the cowards way out through Trip Advisor. To be honest with a potty mouth like yours I suggest you take your custom elsewhere because your certainly not welcome in here...". People do need to feel comfortable expressing their views in a review and that sort of response is unmeasured and foolish on a platform which is trying to provide a wide range of opinion. If I had read that before setting off I would have chosen another pub. Customers do have power in their actions and, although no one wants a one star review, offering a confrontational one star response reflects badly on the business. That said we didn’t experience any of that negativity and had a great day catching up with friends.

One of my favourite eating pubs has changed. Don't know whether it has new landlords but food not up to it's usual standard. Scampi came on a plate with peas and a nice salad, now it comes in a plastic basket, just scampi and chips. Ham egg and chips no longer the best in the area. Ham now plastic instead of thick slices off the bone. Minute sauces etc. in difficult to open sachets which when finally opened the miniscule amount in them makes it a wasted exercise. Please revert back to one of the best food serving pubs in the area, other wise my next visit will be the last.

Very confused we came to the cherry tree under the illusion that we could have some food and a couple of bottles of wine with our children. We left absolutely wounded. A rude land lady with a poor understanding of children and a poorer understanding of people’s feelings. Perhaps a rule of all children under 15 years 364 days can stay until 8pm? Which is fine if you aren’t selling food to the said persons at this time. I conversed with the propriaeters about were we could eat and drink with children and were told by the landlady we aren’t welcome. Not the Everards Thesis! Sort your own rules out and spend time at the right side of the bar. I understand that there are rules involving children in pubs but let us know and understand them yourselves. I will be persueing this with Everards and further. My daughters behaviour was impeccable as commented by your staff. Thanks for your hospitality

The table we had was next to a nice warm radiator. ordered a sharing starter, when it arrived after only 10 mins arrived too big for us to eat but very enjoyable another time we could just share one for our main course. I ordered a lamb shank very tasty and plenty of rosemary gravy poured over the mashed potato good tasty meal. My wife ordered Scampi, it was served with plenty of salad and chips again too much to eat. so overall good lunch, reasonable price, and yes we will go again.

No starters, the choice is the usual pub fare, nothing remotely exciting so to mess that up is pretty astounding.I chose home made pasty.....which was ok except for the crust all round which was so hard I couldn't penetrate even with a stabbing motion !...mash and mushy peas ....but rather steep at £8.95, my husband had fish pie ....which was mostly sauce with an odd prawn appearing, my fellow diners...steak, tough and steak pie which contained enormous amounts of inedible, gristle lumps....we decided to all have lemon meringue, as most were still hungry ....but disappointed.....the lemon part was more like scrambled egg !?

It felt like home from home with a relaxing atmosphere, friendly ambience and excellent service even though the place was packed. There are different rooms and areas to eat in so it does not seem crowded. Tables are well spaced. Food was well presented and properly cooked without being fussy or ostentatious. A good jug of gravy came alongside a plateful of meat, Yorkshire pudding and delicious roast potatoes. Sides of different vegetables gave you options. A welcome contrast to many places that have fixed sittings, overinflated prices and you feel that you are being processed. The Sunday lunch menu offers a reasonable choice and is priced for one or two courses. You can no doubt have three but with good size portions two courses was just right. Will be visiting again and will try other days. Certainly advisable to book for Sundays.

We ordered the two course Roast with a choice of 3 meats, when it came it was delicious with lovely thick meat & gravy with a whole load of vegetables. Then we both had the bread & butter pudding, this too was extremely very nice.Because this place is so good with very good service, I then asked if could look at the evening menu for in the week, & what a choice, many homemade dishes on there at a really good price. I went to the Cherry Tree for the first time for a celebratory meal. It will be my last. On arriving we were not sure where to go as there was no desk or sign or member of staff in eye shot. It was almost like a maze. After a few minutes I finally found someone and they showed us to our table. We were in a room on our own and it was cold and gloomy to say the least. The music that was being played sounded like somewhat of a nightclub. We asked if we could be moved but was told the other room was fully booked out for the evening so we had to stay put. Another couple came in shortly after us and was shown to the room we were in. At last, some company to lift this atmosphere but when they asked to be reseated they were moved to a table in the "fully booked room". Hmmm. We went ahead and ordered starters and mains. The food was absolutely dire. Overcooked, tasteless, inedible and that was both courses, we were unable to finish them. When making a complaint about the dining area we were in and about the poor state of the food to the waitress she was lovely and apologised and would inform management. We decided that we would not risk having a desert and asked for the bill. The management didn't take too kindly to our complaint to say the least. We thought it appropriate to have some kind of reduction in the bill but the attitude that followed was absolutely appalling. They flatly refused and stated that we pay the full price of the bill. They were extremely aggressive and their customer service skills, well, what customer service skills? Never have we been made to feel so uncomfortable or devalued as customers in our life! Disgusting!

I am not usually one to write reviews but I am so shocked by some of the reviews on here regarding the Cherry Tree that I wanted to 'have my say!!!!'The Cherry Tree, although being located in Market Harborough just moments away from the bustle of the supermarkets, is a country pub and gives you the feeling that you could be out in the countryside -this is not just because of the lovely traditional decor but the welcome of the staff and the quality of food and beer served. This clearly is a pub that takes pride in their beers and wines and the good home cooked food they have to offer at extremely reasonable prices.I have visited now on many occasions with a wide variety of guests (family, children, friends, business colleagues) and can honestly say the service has been consistent along with the quality of home cooked food! Looking at some of the poor reviews I would suggest that some people must expect 5 star michelin service for a fraction of the cost!!! (NOT POSSIBLE) BUT if you want a warm welcome, a good drink and a hearty meal then I would recommend the Cherry Tree in Market Harborough.

The Cherry Tree stands on the corner and the pub itself is very attractive. To start with I have to mention the Sunday lunch as it is out of this world!Choice of 3 meats that cut like butter, roast and new potatoes, 3 veg of which you help yourself. The waitresses are really polite and can't do enough to help. Bar snacks and meals are equally delicious and you certainly get value for money. The landlord and lady are a great couple and really make you feel welcome. It's a brilliant place to come in the Summer too. They have a large garden in the front with a play area where you bring the kids and a garden through the back for adults only.Basically it's a very friendly pub with a great atmosphere. Highly recommend!

Yuck. Food was greasy and I felt the employees were a little obnoxious. This place used to be great for a swift ale but I am not sure I'd bother now given our disappointment with the grub!!! Harborough is rapidly expanding and there are many better places to eat than this

The best thing about The Cherry Tree is the size of the main dishes, gigantic. I went for the chicken and white wine/mushroom sauce. My wife went for Fisherman’s Pie…wow…didn’t need to have the starters and probably shouldn’t anyway as they were iffy. We both had the Crispy Breaded Mushrooms. They tasted like something from a bad batch of a downgrade chicken shop. Back to the mains, um, yeah alright they were better than the starter but I would doubt most would manage to finish these mountains of food. I did, of course. The actual restaurant areas are split in two and there’s very little space. You could say it makes for a quaint atmosphere but somehow it doesn’t. I was baffled as to why they had carpets in the restaurant. Not the most hygienic and I reckon I saw a good few welded foodstuffs stuck to the floor. The service was slow. And I mean really slow. I actually overheard two waitresses slagging another customer off. Charming. Didn’t like this place so skipped the dessert which is a first for me! Well, I say I skipped it we went elsewhere and had coffee and cake. I was mighty relieved to elsewhere, the atmosphere is just no good.

Popped in for a drink with my partner and our little boy. Preety much got lost on the way into the pub as it is like a maze with no signs. When we found the bar the staff were rude and did not make us feel welcome at all. I asked about where the garden was to which the reply was oh you have a kid. You have got to go to the other garden. Since then I have realised that they have 2 gardens and one is adults only which is fine. But would be nice to have it explained in a polite way. Beer was average but overpriced. Didnt even finish my drink as felt so unwelcome.Plenty if other better options in the area.

Just drove 14 miles to have a meal at the Cherry Tree for the first time. Nice little dinning room was the only two in there. Service very good and quick. Had the crab cakes as a starter and very disappointed. They were overdone and very little filling inside and what filling there was was too spicy and could not taste anything else. Did not say anything as we wanted to see what the main course was like. We had chicken breast in white wine and mushroom sauce chips and veg which was excellent. Anyway before we paid we did mention how disappointed we was with starter and did not even get a apology. We paid £4.25 each for the starter which personally do not think it was worth it. Not sure if I would visit again.

I have been to the Cherry Tree many times over the years and have always been made very welcome, as has my family. There are two excellant beer gardens, an adults and a family beer garden. the play area for the children is always kept pristine and is very safe for supervised children.I was amazed to read a review from the gentleman who asked for some hot water to heat his baby's bottle up?? The cherry Tree is extremely popular and the staff are excellant and will help in any way possible, on some occasions they are serving several customers at one time. BUT I have to say that if you want to take your baby out to a PUB then I really do think it is your responsibility as a parent to ensure you have everything required to tend to your baby's needs. If hot water isn't a big deal (as mentioned in the gentlemans review) then I would suggest along with the other necessities he should have packed a flask of hot water too!

I have visited The Cherry Tree several times as it is a stone's throw from some relatives. The beer is always well kept, the Tiger in particular is excellent. The food, when i have eaten there, has always been adequate- what you would expect from decent pub food. Last weekend I visited the aforementioned relatives with our new baby son, and since it was a sunny afternoon we all went for a walk followed by a few drinks the in the Cherry Tree's large garden. All was going well until our baby needed feeding, started screaming and so I went to the bar to get some warm water to heat up some milk. The barman looked at me like i was out for a freebie, or was a passerby trying to use the loos without buying a drink. He told me he was too busy, and that he would "get one of the girls to do it".. (apparently pouring hot water was beneath him).. and that I should come back in 10 minutes. I could see the steaming hot water dispenser 2 meters away!Over the past 8 months i have had to ask for hot water at dozens of establishments, and usually staff fall over themselves to help you when they realise you have a young baby. Not at The Cherry Tree.

I visited this restaurant with my husband, daughter and our son-in-law for the second time. The first was for Sunday lunch which was absolutely superb. Freshly prepared food, clean and served by very friendly waitress. The second time we went for a Ploughmans lunch. We have been very disappointed in the past when we have gone in search for this so we're apprehensive about what we would get. NO WORRIES got exactly what we wanted. Lovely freshly prepared food of good quality and we've promised we will return. Keep up the good work Cherry Tree.

Friendly welcome from staff. Several rooms to choose sitting in. I often have a basket meal in their games room out back. TWO entirely separate beer gardens - one for families and one just for adults - how good is that ! Also a tiny restaurant tucked away in a snug and the best chips served this side of the River Trent. Serves Everards ale and to the novice I recommend a pint of Tiger bitter. I would say this pub is near perfect (95%?). Would have given it 100% was it not for the piped music which seems to pervade every room. When I gave the jukebox a spin last time, I could still hear the piped music cutting in which made a somewhat unpleasant listening experience. Could I suggest limiting the piped music to just a couple of the rooms?? Apart from that, this is a completely unspoilt venue. It looks fabulous from the outside and just as good inside.

The Cherry Tree is a good old fashioned British pub with loads of character with its low beams, smallish rooms, real ales on tap and atmosphere, not forgetting they have a good choice of menu with reasonable prices to match, the place always seems to be busy which is always a good sign. Oh and the food was nice too!!Plus, its not too far from the town centre and the railway station. Definitely worth a visit next time you're in Market Harborough.PS if you're over 5' tall, remember to duck!

Stopped here for a meal, couldn't try the ale because of medication, which was a pity given the comments from previous reviewers. Very pleasant staff and a very straightforward pub menu. That is not to a negative as the food was very, very good. The fish pie was one of the best I have had in a long time.Space is a bit limited and maybe would not suit a large party, but otherwise give it a try.

I have lived in the town for over 20 years and this is without doubt the most consistent of public Houses in the town. One of the last standing traditional pubs in the town, with wonderful thatch roof excellent beer Gardens, (one for families and one for adults) An interior of exposed beams small little areas to sit and have a very good meal a "traditional" bar with a skittle table etc all giving you that feeling of being in a "Pub" So refreshing after the relentless turn of Wine bars and Cafes trying to be a bar and bars trying to be a café. etc. A great range of beers all kept and served to a very high standard.Management are local people at it shows, A warm welcome and friendly staff trained to a high standard. I organised a large function in the town and the management could not have been more helpful in offering a supporting location for the weekend. On a negative side the children's play area is in need of attention with quite a few obvious hazards that never seem to get attended to. And unless you are eating you cannot take children inside, not good with British weather and do feel a little held to ransom over this. However overall highly recommended. A great attribution to the town.
