Cherry Reds in Birmingham

Only came for a beer as I’d filled up in Bonehead. A great selection of craft and local beer, super venue, light and welcoming. Great service and a lovely refuge from the city

Particularly bad experience with the staff. Would not return.

Had high hopes for this place, 2 weeks in the making. Entered the place, find a table and order at the bar a notice said. Five of us, no chance of finding a table, a fair few people mismatched with wrong sized tables. Roamed around for a few mins upstairs and downstairs couldn't find a table big enough. At no time did any member of staff approach us. Walked out and went elsewhere. Really disappointed. If for example 2 people weren't sitting on a table for 6 it would have helped. I've given 2 stars only for the fact that it had a fantastic menu choice. Poor show Cherry Reds !!

Very quirky cafe, excellent food and staff. 8 of us had breakfast in there this morning and all of us said the same, "top notch". Loved the music 🎶 as well, folk and Indie. If you're passing, call in👍

Overall atmosphere is so homely and cosy! Dropped in for breakfast around midday and the owner was very chatty - recommended beers and meals... food is absolutely incredible! Portion sizes are very generous and prices are not bad at all! Absolutely loved it here and it is now our new local !

I am coeliac and it was great that Ben who served us was so knowledgeable about gluten free options and a plus had lovely gf cake

Very nice little café, breakfast was great and the people who work here are so polite and friendly. We felt very welcome in here and enjoyed our breakfast. Highly recommend this café and would definitely go here again when visiting Birmingham.

Great vegan brekkie, nice coffee and not massively expensive for the city centre either. Nice place will go back.

Reasonably priced food and excellent drinks. The beer is well kept with plenty of options. Staff are really friendly and efficient. Lovely mix of customers and just a really relaxed atmosphere, and a great place to watch the world go by.

We came for a quick drink while waiting for a table nearby. The staff were friendly and knowledgeable, and allowed tasting of a drink before ordering. It was busy but still seats available and the atmosphere was simply electric. If I could have stayed longer, I would have, but I'll be back for sure! Come for the atmosphere, stay for the drink options, and enjoy it early evening until late.

Cafe with a great atmosphere, very good playlist and very nice decor. I had a Caesar salad which was not very good. I advise you to head for the pancakes or the rest

Absolutely amazing place. Great selection of craft beers, nice outdoor seating area, the food was really good and I appreciated the breadth of vegan options. All topped off with great music

It’s just alright. Well… better than Weatherspoon. I think. I like the pancakes. Coffee just warm ( a bit cold) But it’s alright.

Smells. Really ignorant service. Intentionally rude. Left without ordering. Have been here 3 x. Whenever I'm alone - this is how I'm treated - if another person is with me - the service immediately turns friendly.

Lovely relaxed cafe near Birmingham new street. Reasonably priced food ranging from a full English to burgers and chips. An amazing selection of vegan and vegetarian dishes. Lovely coffee as well as serving alcohol.

Good choice of Belgian and Cask beers and all day breakfasts!

Great venue and great atmosphere. This venue is great all year round, cosy in the winter - lovely outdoor space in the summer. A wide drink selection and superb homely food.

Nice place to watch the world go by with a snack and a beer. Better still if you are not surrounded by smokers/vapors - but you can't have everything. Great salads and wraps. Note that, currently, cash only.

Smash burger weren't really very smashed. Pretty bland outside of the sauces, house Chips pretty forgettable also. Service lacking.

The moment you walk into Cherry reds you feel as if you’ve traveled back in time. It’s a bustling little cafe in the big city with a unique vibe taking you back to simpler times. Service is solid, the food hits the spot and they have a good selection of drinks to cater for all.

One of our favourite places in Birmingham city centre. The staff are lovely, the beer is local and the cake is divine.

Stunning spot on the heart of Birmingham! Wonderful staff, amazing vibes and they have lots of fun events on like comedy and jazz nights (go to their instagram) plus rooms to hire!! Food is a standard 6/10 on average (I come here a lot and still order every time!) and a large and delicious selection of drinks for both alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinkers - overall a great spot with something for everyone! Must visit in the sunshine or for an event ☀️

I visited Cherry Red's on 11/06/23 for the first time in a few years and in my opinion, it's only gotten better with time. The beer selection is vast and always rotating - regular beers stay, of course, but for the adventurous there is always something new to try. Our servers and the service in general was excellent and so friendly. You're made to feel welcome in an 'old, absent friend' kind of way. Even though it has been over two years since I've been there, i was made to feel like I'd never been away, despite being a complete stranger. Sadly no food was sampled but from what i saw coming out of the kitchen, the dishes looked amazing, so 5/5 for presentation but I can't yet comment on the quality. Highly recommended. Clientele that night consisted mostly of gig-goers heading to see Placebo round the corner at the o2 Academy, so it was an amiable, lively but friendly crowd.

I had lunch here this past Sunday and I loved it. I’d never been before, but the atmosphere was great. Chilled and friendly with a definite come as you are vibe. The decor has a retro/vintage feel to it, and the food and drink were spot on. If you like your dining experiences a little different I highly recommend Cherry Red’s.

Just been for lunch at Cherry Reds. Small independent place located close to New Street station in an old building. The old style build gives it charm - crecking floorboards etc, although some areas are showing a bit of tiredness, like the tables. Seating outside, and upstairs available and room hire for functions available. The food was excellent and great value for money. Had the hearty breakfast and cup of tea. Filling and tasty. Plenty of vegetarian, gluten free options available too.

I tried the burger, it was pretty good.

Excellent coffee. I had a veggie breakfast Bagel. It was well presented and fresh but very salty. Staff were helpful and food service was quick and professional.

A cool place and space to work. Minutes from New Street Station they offer rooms to hire for nothing. Based on the burgers the grub is delish delosh and good value too

An independent local gem in the heart of Birmingham. My partner and I love going to Cherry Reds for brunch on the weekend, and the vegan pancakes are always a winner! Cherry Reds also has a couple of characterful and cosy meeting spaces to book for free (with a minimum spend), and I love that they support so many community orgs in hosting various events and meet-ups. I threw a surprise birthday party in their Bosta Room, and the staff were incredibly accommodating and helpful both in the run up to and throughout the event. Everything felt super smooth and easy. The booking process through their website was straightforward, and there was a very reasonably priced selection of catered options. The food was really delicious, and there was an interesting and varied beer selection which we really enjoyed. It's also a huge plus that they're located so close to the train station, which made travel for guests coming from farther afield much more accessible. 10/10 would recommend.

Had a nice breakfast in the middle of Birmingham. Cozy Cafe-Bar, where you can sit outside, to enjoy your breakfast.

Jacket potato not cooked took back twice ended up asking for a refund Lady behind the counter was apologetic and gave me a free cake as yet not received the refund into my bank very disappointed

Really enjoyed it here. Sat outside so you have to order at the bar. Lots of vegan options… fry up and pancakes for brekkie/brunch, vegan lunch options and also vegan sweet treats too! Staff friendly and helpful. One star off because the wait for food was quite long (45 mins) and though it was fairly busy, it wasn’t packed. Recommended going when you have some time to spare. It’s lovely sitting outside with a coffee and watching the world go by!

Lovely little cafe. Ordered pancakes which I really enjoyed, they were freshly cooked ones rather than reheated ones that are normally served at other cafes I've been to. Friendly staff and very quick service considering how small the ground floor is and how many customers were queuing:) Also enjoyed my iced peach tea and was happy to see such an inclusive menu for allergens and dietries :).

Came back here for the first time in about 5 years and it wasn’t a good experience at all. It used to be a shining gem in the area but it must have changed hands or management. Bar man was incredibly knowledgeable of his beers when we asked for suggestions for a pregnant person and someone else with a dietary requirement, let us check labels on a can as well which was kind. Clientele has changed, we encountered an aggressive middle aged woman who wanted the table we sat at, and a sweary toothless man who’d had too much and probably should have been served, who also went to the loo leaving the door open. The smell of the toilets was very strong, glad we didn’t eat there. Upstairs toilets weren’t very nice either. Sad it’s gone downhill, but glad I’ve been without my family so we could go elsewhere as we’d planned to go for lunch. We actually left without finishing our drinks in the end, which was a shame.

Excellent breakfast and service. Wife said it wa some of the best ‘hearty breakfasts’ she has had, and I would agree, a little gem, head and shoulders above the alternative at the local Spoons,

The furniture seems a bit old and could do with a refresh, A couple of staff didn't seem too bothered about having people there, The food was good I was massively surprised by the flavour of the cauliflower wings I thought they were chicken until told otherwise, the beer I Had was amazing! I planned to go to Brewdog across the road but stayed instead for a pint there.

Order a pint of cider it tasted like chemicals/ vinegar but when I took it back I was told it was my taste not the cider even though they never even tasted it, I have been drinking different ciders for over 30 years and I know when one is right. Terrible place no respect for the customers.

Food was alright, deserts were pretty good the burger I found taste less and the breakfast wrap was actually pretty good. I'm still waiting to try the kebab wrap. Hopefully tomorrow.

We love independents and usually go to GCK for breakfast. However, having seen the reviews of this place we were really looking forward to going but oh, what a let down. Walking in there was a great vibe downstairs but as there were no tables free we went upstairs where the vibe disappeared. It was cold! I went back downstairs to order two breakfast bagels and 2 coffees from someone not wonderfully friendly. I was given the drinks immediately which was fine but we then had to wait 40 mins for the bagels, by which time the coffee had been drunk. Half way through eating we were then told that the room we were in was booked and that we would have to finish or move. When you have waited 40 mins already why on earth serve in a room that is going to have to be vacated. The waitress was a little offhand when we said we would leave. I really wanted to like this place but we won't be rushing back, sorry guys.

Such a good place for a good choice of beer! It appears to also be a cafe during the day but I've only visited at night, but will definitely be back in the summer daytimes as they have a fab outdoor area too!

Great choice of drinks snacks meals, beers and ciders. Great staff and music, young lady there is a massive Bowie and Prince fan, doesn't get much better than this.

This is a small, funky cafe with eclectic decor, good prices and very good food. The food was hot, good portions, and pretty quick service. And busy. There is an upstairs, which I wish I had sat in. The front tables have a good view.

This is a fun, independent cafe that serves good food at reasonable prices. I ordered a Big Red breakfast and it was actually a bit too much food. It has an upstairs seating area, which I wish I had sat it as there are some large windows that give it a bright, open feel. The crowd that goes is as mixed and interesting as the cafe. I recommend it.

I have came to this cafe a few times in the past. However, i thought i would write a review to show my opinion on Cherry Red’s Cafe bar. I personally loved the vintage interior of the cafe and the variety of food and drinks they provide due to being a Cafe bar. They include a full breakfast which lasts all day and other varieties of food like wraps and more! One of my favourite breakfast/Brunch locations.

Nicely situation cafe offering a good breakfast menu. Shame the weather wasn't better to enjoy the outdoor seating area, but the welcome was warm.

Super cute Me, my sister and daughter (5) came today, just for a drink and the staff could not have been nicer, little touches such as getting my daughter’s teddy a stool and some sweets, we will definitely be back!

The best breakfast in Birmingham. The service is always amazing, the food is always quick and delicious. This is without question, the best breakfast in Birmingham, if you want a full English, Vegetarian or Vegan look no further. The other meals look great but I always have one of the breakfasts, even late at night as they serve until late o'clock.

Le personnel était agréable et aimable, par contre nous sommes déçus de ce que nous avons mangé. Des propositions classiques (c’est pas un problème) mais rien n’avait l’air fait maison (a part les gâteaux). Des plats secs et peu savoureux. Dommage car le lieu est sympathique.

It's a great place to have some drinks and food. There are some rooms that you can book in advance for you and your friends and it's great. The food is good and they have an amazing variety of beers!!! There are also some board games to play there! Totally recommend!

Fantastic little place that we visited a few times while on a holiday in Birmingham. Quirky interior, friendly staff and lots of tasty food. For me, the most important was the fact that it has so many vegan options to choose from, I didn’t feel left out at all while my hubby ate his full English breakfast! They even have vegan cake options! I’m going to be in Birmingham again in a few months and will definitely be making a trip down to Cherry Red’s for food!

What a delightful place. Everything done as you wish everyone else in hospitality would do it: charming efficient service; excellent quality food beautifully produced; well kept and very clean everywhere, with plenty of room for all the happy customers. Family run cafe right on the corner with stylish cozy decor and easy fast filling breakfast! Prices were reasonable for meal. Only negative is we had to order at the bar, and since we sat upstairs (more seating available up there than downstairs) we had to leave our table and walked down to order.

Great location, good beer and nice ambiance. Truly a great location and experience, they even have stand up nights and a space for events. Multiple floors and ample seating, the beer is tasty, the english breakfast greasy and the bartender friendly...in short everything you could ever want in a british pub. Highly recomended.

Great food, with plenty of good vegan options. Really nice chilled atmosphere and they were great with us taking our kids.
