We have the best landlord in PJ! He’s made the Chequers great again! Loads of live music, great atmosphere, friendly people and good vibes!

Stupidly, they have food menus including what appears to be a decent Christmas fayre menu but no chefs to deliver on any of it. After my mum and her friends going today for lunch, with the added intent of booking Christmas Dinner in the coming weeks, to be told no food, no chef, this simply isn't acceptable. Update the website, be clear to the public of what you're capable of providing as a business and save people wasted journeys and disappointed visits.

Pub is now being run by very professional people (no disrespect to previous incumbents of this position) the atmosphere has changed for the better!!

I like the atmosphere of old London pubs. I attended a wake and the service and food in a buffet style was very good.

Attended Sing Song club 23rd Dec. Always a fun night. Host very welcoming and laid on free nibbles & mince pices

Nice friendly pub Nice pint of Amstel very good. Only downside for me was that dogs are not allowed inside. Makes a return unlikely Shame

I so love this pub! Owners and staff are brilliant! Friendly, welcoming, fantastic entertainment 4 nights of the week! Only downside is that kitchen is often closed (yes I’m the one who’s always asking for food 😂) but it doesn’t stop me visiting (too much sometimes) as I can take my own food now 😂😂 it’s so nice to have a pub to call my local! Your all doing a brilliant job keep up the great work!

This pub is no longer a dump! Well run, great Manager, who is friendly, treats his staff well and also doesn't allow anti social behaviour. The bar maid with red hair is also really lovely and does a great job in service and conversation with guests. Well decorated, clean and the best Juke box in the UK! I'm definitely coming again :)

Beautiful, clean and welcoming atmosphere. I had the "fish shop platter" it was a sizable portion, didn't think I would get through it. But it was so fresh, and cooked to perfection. I managed to finish it all. Staff are warm and friendly. Definitely deserve a 5 start rating.

Lovely pub, land lady and gentlemen's are lovely so friendly and welcoming. Hired a space for a small wake and they couldn't have been more lovely and supportive. Thanking them both so much for making the day so much easier to bare.

Staff are very friendly and good atmosphere

Interesting, very reasonable pint. Karaoke night, which meant i couldn't put money in jukebox. Some very loud people singing very out of tune.

Rude staff and every staff claims to be a manager there big lady who says she's the owner of pub who is very rude and place is very unwelcoming and customers are treated with no value & they judge you misleading you & discriminate against ethnicity & its appaling. Unfriendly dirty absolutely horrendous atmosphere with rude owner full of judgemental staff worst pub I've been to. Disgusting how they treat individuals by far worst pub I been to.

Not been in the gaff for some years. Got invited for a karaoke night by some friends. Was a really good night. Great bar staff and a good atmosphere.

Nice Contemporary Pub opposite Barkingside Police Station. The staff are friendly and the food looks very good. However it is too expensive for the area of Barkingside,Ilford.IG6. The Pub is not based in Chigwell ,Buckhurst Hill, Epping or even in central London to justify the price of drinks.I know the Brewery which is Heineken sets the prices of its beers/lagers

Every time Chequers re-opens with new management I give it another try and every single time 1) food is mediocre 2) service is absolutely terrible 3) atmosphere is uncomfortable inside. It's not a family friendly or woman-friendly place, the staff sit with their friends instead of serving, won't be going back.

Strange place, hasn't got the feeling of a pub. 2 pool tables take up one entire area. Then there's the large table in the other part of the pub. They could do with having more bitters on the pumps. Having said all that the service was good and the staff friendly.

Sunday lunch, first time for a while. Very nice. Worth a second visit.

the Sunday roast was quite nice. service was good. but what is with the extremely loud music outside ??? we couldn't heat ourselves talk...so left soon after it started...Shame

Heineken pub, expensive limited range or beers

Waitress? bar staff? Where are they? You'll be waiting a while even when there's no customers...they spend more time on the other side of the bar than behind it....they closed down for a while recently (shut down) it wasn't great service then...but benefit of the doubt,thought we'll try again...NO NO NO NO NO NO....THE FOOD!!! NO NO NO...SERVICE ABISMAL....SEE FOR YOURSELF AND TRY...BUT BE AWARE

I went to the pub last Friday and it was so loud music and the staff was really not friendly and the beer was flat not the pub it was before I can't see see us going back again good luck

Good traditional pub grub. The best fish and chips we had. So was the Roast. Selection of the expected drinks liquors and beers. Time to time hosts a karaoke event which is good sit-back and enjoy occasions. Staff is good and attentive.

It's changed in there not as relaxing and not so many tables and chairs.

Came here when visiting from America. Got the fish and chips because you know... It's Britain. It was incredible. I've had a lot of fried fish fillets, but this takes the cake. Strongly recomm. Came with mushy peas which I've never had before. Turned out to be excellent too. Staff was very friendly. Poured the beer perfectly. Pub had a great feel to it.

I visited this pub for lunch today with my sister. We were told to have a look at the menu on the table and then come to the counter to order. My sister went to the counter and waited for nearly 15-20 minutes whilst the only waitress brought food from the kitchen and served to other people. Not once did she say 'be with you in a minute' etc. My sister waited and waited but no sign of anyone serving her. Then the same waitress went to some other customers table and started taking their food order at their table when she had told us we needed to go up to the counter. We felt really insulted by this rude and racist behaviour so we got up and left. I would not recommend this pub to anyone. Deeply disappointed by this rude and racist behaviour.

Quick visit, great food, happy to have kids and dogs in there. Would visit again
