Delicious food and cozy atmosphere! Lots of unknown items on the menu but staff really helpful.

Food was good. We enjoyed eating at Chennai's marina. Good to eat South Indian food. We do not get south Indian food often.

Very very poor customer service. The guy in the bill is good, but not enough staff. Nobody is at the billing counter most of the times. End up waiting 10 mins every time before that one guy shows up

There’s a bit of wait time, but the wait time is really worth it. The food is delicious as they would taste in Chennai. Better than the chennai food I had in London eastham. A must try place for authentic and delicious chennai food.

I recently had the pleasure of dining at a fantastic South Indian breakfast restaurant in Edinburgh, and I must say, it was an amazing experience! The dosa and idli were absolutely delicious, perfectly cooked with authentic flavors that transported me straight to South India. The chutneys and sambar served alongside were equally delightful. What made the experience even better was the exceptional service provided by our server, Salman. He was attentive, friendly, and went out of his way to ensure we had a memorable meal. If you're in Edinburgh and craving a traditional South Indian breakfast, I highly recommend this place. Don't forget to ask for Salman – he'll make your visit extra special!

Utterly disappointed with the quality and quantity, ordered 2 masala dosas and got 2 spoons of sambhar with 1 spoon of chutney, moreover the masala was high on salt and garlic paste. We couldn't eat and we spent 25£ for this, nobody could eat as it had just salt. My old father was starving and this is what he got to eat. This restaurant should be shut very bad quality of food, which can hamper people's health.

Enjoyed the bruch with Masala Dosa, Idly, Poori, the trio was delicious can improve in the chutneys and Tea as well. The service was very friendly. Worth visiting next time.

It feels like I’ve never had Indian food before coming to this place. I have mixed feelings about leaving a review, Bcs I want to support their business, but this will undoubtedly become a famous restaurant, and I selfishly want to be able to Eat here without the queues… the most holistically enjoyable meal (from starters, through sides and mains) I’ve had all year. Everything about this place is an absolute delight. I’ve spent some time in south India, and was craving some authentic dosa, egg curry and Gobi 65. Everything was outstanding and reminded me why I love Indian food so much. Service was great too and very reasonably priced. A true gem.

Ordered delivery. Flavours were good and authentic. However the portions were shockingly small. What was supposed to be a double portion of chicken looked like a single portion from anywhere else, which made this delivery the most expensive we have ever had!

Number one Indian food the best one in Edinburgh

For instance, the Malabar Porota is significantly overpriced and doesn’t deliver the value you’d expect. It might be better if the menu were streamlined to focus on fewer dishes, ensuring each one is of top-notch quality and taste.

I am a visitor to Edinburgh, in the past 10 days of our stay this restaurant was our favourite for dinner. all food we tried were of great taste, would definitely recommend this. couldn't rate service or Atmosphere since I took only delivery from Uber eats.

From what I could tell this seemed like authentic South Indian food! We had the masala dosa, and another lamb dosa and a curry. All excellent. Recommend reading up on the menu before you visit and trying different things. Complimentary chai was beautiful!

A restaurant is more than their food. The food was decent but the service was horrible. My food was served without a spoon. Look at the amount of coconut chutney, it was barely half a spoon. They were VERY CHEEKY with the service charge, the total amount was written in a bigger font and the service charge was written below in a smaller font. I paid and realized I was charged more. Their service was horrible so I asked them to refund me, they didn’t have change. They could have refunded it on my card but they didn’t. They could have gone to neighborhood stores and gotten some change but that guy had so much attitude. They need to treat their customers better.

I am writing to express my disappointment with my recent experience at your restaurant. On 20/07/2024 at 6:45 Pm , I placed a takeaway order of Normal Mandi under the name Azar through Phone Unfortunately, when I received my order, [Rice ] were missing.In addition to the incomplete order, I was deeply dissatisfied with the response from your staff when I called to address the issue. The staff member I spoke with was extremely rude and unhelpful, which further exacerbated the situation.I have been a loyal customer and have always enjoyed your food and service. However, this experience has been very disappointing. I would appreciate it if you could address the following: 1. Provide a resolution for the missing items from my order. 2. Ensure that your staff maintain a respectful and professional attitude when dealing with customer concerns.

The food quality and taste was good. However the price and quantity of chutneys what they provide is so low and not sufficient for the 4 plates of idly and one plain dosa. Also the price is extremely high for idlies with price of 8 GBP for two idlies, For the same price, I used to get 4 idlies in London.

A must visit if you’re in Edinburgh and want authentic South Indian food! They were super quick as I had a train to catch from Haymarket, got a take away masala dosa and tomato/onion uttapam. Both were as good as Madras cafe in Mumbai, the sambhar and chutneys were amazing too! Only request is to please make everything a little less spicy as others have commented too… but then again I know many will love that! Service was great, super smiley and welcoming. I know other reviews indicate they want more of a restaurant atmosphere but I think they’ve missed the mark on what kind of of place this is. It’s no frills in all the right ways :)

Definitely must visit this restaurant among all other Indian restaurants in Edinburgh. This was a unique experience because we were able to order a very unique home-made Mango ice cream made with raw (kaccha) mangoes and great Madras filter coffee. Our server Vishal was clearly busy but very hard working and did a good job taking care of us. We also enjoyed the excellent masala dosa and uttapam. 5 stars. If anything, music could be played to make the atmosphere lighter. But who cares, you are there to eat.

Food was amazing!! Had a masala dosa and a lamb curry. Was absolutely incredible. Spicy and delicious. Friend I was with had the biryani which also looked great. Would 100% go back. A lot of options as well. But not a huge amount that it's overwhelming. Can't recommend this place highly enough.

Great authentic South Indian food

Having recently spent 6 months in Asia, I have some sense of authenticity, and this is it; the food was delicious, and certainly not the standard curry menu, that we’re accustomed to in Britain. I can’t say that this is the best curry in Edinburgh, but if it’s not, I would love to find the best; better than this would be mind blowing stuff!

Superb. Delicious, flavourful and unusual curries which rival the best curry houses in London. Great prices, BYOB, unpretentious but very friendly service. What a great place! Strongly recommend the pakora, dosas and peanut curry (07 on the veggie menu)

The dosa comes with sambar and a wide range of chutneys(4) and all were tasty. The beef fry was outstanding. The flavours of the fish 65 was Good but I found the fish too flaky and it definitely didn’t do justice to the masala

We ordered breakfast for house warming at the last moment from Chennai Marina and they delivered the best South Indian food I ever tasted in Edinburgh. I would recommend them for both catering and their restaurants

Masala dosa was good as was spicy squid.

We ordered kuthu parota and crab curry. Kuthu parota is wonderful, good spice and very good taste but not happy with Crab curry (just cooked crab pieces in some gravy sorts) although the crab curry is not available is many places in Edinburgh.

Terrible service. There is a guy at the counter who got a terrible attitude. He is very rude and doesn’t know how to even speak with costumers. The guy at the counter thinks we are buying food for free. To the person who replied : Since when did you start recording the names of customer who order take away directly ??

Some of the best Indian food I've eaten. Dosa to curry, just gorgeous. It looks so unassuming from outside but try it, you'll not be disappointed.

We had order Kuzhi Mandi and it was cost around 13.50 pounds and man told like it will be for 2 person but unfortunately it is not enough for one person…. Very sad and disappointing…

Delicious and interesting dishes. Whilst it’s only a small restaurant the food is exceptional and the staff lovely. Make sure you book a table as unsurprisingly this place is very busy.

This place is VERY small and when we arrived it was full of Indian people, which is a good sign. The curries were authentic Indian dishes cooked very well and were very tasty. Service was a bit chaotic, however, and not very prompt. They do not have a licence so bring your own alcohol.

It was a late meal but what a meal we drove all day to be turned around by another place that was supposed to be opened. We got to Chennai's Marina at 10pm and it was among the best or the Indian I've had and spicy just how I like it. It a BYOB which was convenient because we we just about to go have beers for dinner in our room. I highly recommend everything was exceptional the garlic naan was excellent

I absolutely loved the cheese chili dosa and chili baby corn; they’re incredibly tasty. However, if you’re not a fan of sweet and spicy flavors, the chili baby corn might not be to your liking. I’ve also tried their paneer masala dosa, but it wasn’t as impressive; they simply add paneer to your dosa. For those seeking a touch of North Indian flavor, they can go for masala dosa. Personally, recommend the chili cheese dosa—it’s absolutely delicious!

Awesome Authentic South Indian food Recently tried CM’s weekend special Alfaham mandi(although being an Arabian dish, Keralites have a special love for it). It was simply delicious and the quantity, it was just mind blowing. A full portion costs around £18 which was plenty for 3. Never got a chance to try their Jalikettu mandi, hopefully they will bring it back soon. Thank you CM for taking us back home with an authentic Mandi experience which we really missed in Edinburgh.

To start with, we ordered cheese naan and chicken curry and biriyani. For such a small place and with just another dine in pres ent, they took 30 minutes to serve us food. When I noticed there was no cheese in the naan, the server kept saying it must be melted and disappeared. It was a horrible experience. Food sucks and service is even horrible. They are very stingy people. They literally behaved like I was eating food there for free. I visited the Dalry’s store

I’d read good reviews about this place, so was excited to check it out. Despite there only being 4 or 5 tables, the service was appalling. Our curries arrived way before the starters. One of the starters we ordered never came out to us at all and there was no explanation why. The rice didn’t show up until much later, until we had actually finished the meal, and that was after reminding the waiter. The food was a mixed bag. The curries we got were really nice and the highlight of the meal, but the veg pakora was awful, rock hard and like eating a piece of cardboard. Rice wasn’t great either and wasn’t the rice we ordered.

I'm amazed. Finally I've found the most delicious Indian restaurant in Edinburgh after living here for 18 months. I'm South Asian - I know good Indian food. This is as authentic as it gets. Try the egg roast and coconut rice. Yum! Or the veg pakora or peas curry. So so so good! Lots of vegan options for my husband too. Great date night!

Delicious food and excellent taste.

It was a horrible experience to be honest.Me and my friends were their at the restaurant and the service was so poor that none of our orders came on time. 5 dosa came at half an hour duration and we all had to eat separately inspire of going there as a group. I won't recommend here to go as a group.

Worst experience one could ever say. No coordination with the management as the food was delivered late. And the sad part is everyone received their food after one had finished theirs. Never suggesting it.
