Chennai Dosa in Sandwell

I was extremely disappointed with my meal. The food arrived undercooked, which is not unacceptable. I expected much better quality. Food arrived very late but it was fine as they informed..but could have done better with the quality .

Today, my husband and I had an amazing time at Chennai Dosa. We ordered masala pappadam, ghee masala roast, mutton biryani, and fresh lime juice. Everything was absolutely delicious, and we thoroughly enjoyed our meal. The staff were very friendly—especially Faizal 🥰 who was incredibly welcoming and explained everything so well. We left the place feeling fully satisfied😍

I had a very disappointing experience here. The service was extremely poor — the staff were inattentive and seemed overwhelmed. We had to wait an incredibly long time just to place our order, and even longer for the food to arrive. No one seemed to care about the delays or even bothered to update us. Definitely not worth the wait or the hassle. I won’t be coming back.

There is too much exclusive waiting and they don’t know value of customers time they totally disrespect time of us.

If you're craving authentic South Indian food, Chennai Dosa is definitely worth a visit. The prices are very reasonable, and the portions are generous. The dinning experience was fantastic. Really enjoyed the food. Especially, Masala dosa, kothu porotta, tandoori chicken, vada, chole bhatura was nice. Pepper chicken curry was average. But the fish tava fry was pathetic. Friendly staff and good atmosphere.

The food was close to authentic The staffs were friendly and nice The atmosphere was loud and buzzy (bit of a downside) mainly the serving robot was not serving but coming close and playing loud music which was extremely annoying Small improvements to the taste will make the place a lovely one. For me Hospitality starts from the time of reservation or enquiry!! Not sure about the taste,ambience but first impression is the best impression.Because of the telephonic call experience we rerouted to Chennai Parotta restaurant. We are from Newport, South Wales, we came to Birmingham for an official appointment at Indian Counselate office and after finishing the appointment,we decided to have lunch from you and started from Gamgee House to ur place which was only 6mnts drive. We were 6 adults and 3 kids in 3 cars and while on ur way thought to give a ring and ask about the parking. Even though ur rating was 3.7, we decided to come thr only because of ur cardiff branch review and food. I called to your restaurant today afternoon, the guy who picked up the phone said don't knw about the parking areas and said u can park on the both sides of the road for 1 hour free. I asked about paid parking space if anything nearby and guy said no idea on this and you should find parking by yourself, said Thank you and disconnected the phone. “Wow !!! What a fantastic gigantic bomblastic service” Basically i felt like giving food is thr stuff and parking is my stuff. I am 100% sure that food is not going to come and finish in 1hour and its difficult to run back to car after 1hour free time when it finishes and managing three kids. Boss i was not saying to come and assist me outside the restaurant and find a parking for me.I expected a polite alternative guidance to nearby areas even its paid parking instead of saying Thank You and disconnecting the call. The moment we rerouted to Chennai Parotta when it was only 3mnts away from u and the girl who picked up the phone at Chennai Parotta guided me to waverhill road car park 37875. This was the service or alternative guidance i expected rather than saying a direct no. Chennai Parotta Food was good,ambience was good,pricing was affordable😄. Next time Pakkalam..

Disappointed by the Rude Staff Mostly girl

Disappointed by the Rude Staff I rarely leave negative reviews, but my experience here was frustrating enough to warrant one. From the moment I walked in, the staff seemed disinterested and dismissive. When I asked a simple question, I was met with eye-rolls and an unhelpful attitude. It felt like I was an inconvenience rather than a customer. A little courtesy goes a long way, and unfortunately, that was completely lacking during my visit. I hope management takes this feedback seriously and works on improving their customer service.

Came in for meal with family. Restaurant was busy so took very long to be seated as tables were not been cleaned. Got served after 1 hour and to make our experience even worse was served unwashed cups/ food without any cutlery. Can't imagine what must be going in kitchen when you are served dirty cups on table.

Our group of eight ordered a variety of tiffin items for dinner. The Butter Masala Dosa was enjoyable, the Rava Dosa was just okay, and the Karam Dosa was below average. However, the Kothu Paratha was a complete disappointment. Overall, the dining experience was unsatisfactory.

I went there with my daughter. I odered dosa and egg noodles. Worst noodles i have ever tasted in my life. And the quantity of the sambhar with dosa was like they served chatni... not nice. And they took more money. I have to go back to confront them. I will not recommend that place to go next time.

After multiple experience i am giving this review , person behind the desk who takes payment is very very very rude. No customer service ethics , values. I ordered food for delivery ,after delivery item was missing and they had no regret. all I asked for was my item I paid for, they simply denied. Then I ordered food for collection, came back and opened it, it appeared as leftover. Dosa came with literally 3 to 4 table spoon of sambar.they changed £7 something for it.

I tried masala dosa, poori masala, filter coffee and nannari sarbath . All dishes were really good and delicious.

The service was terrible after ordering a tandoori chicken, waited ages but thought they would be makeing it fresh, hence the wait. When it turned up eventually, it seemed microwaved and after tasting, it was rubbery and tasteless. I eat as much as I could, paid and got the hell out never to return.

Chennai Dosa is a great spot for South Indian food. Food is well-seasoned and authentic. Prices are reasonable.

Visited yesterday I have to mention that food was amazing, service is excellent and improved a lot. Mutton biryani was very authentic! Shoutout to faizal and his team He did a brilliant job made us very comfortable. 10/10 we will come back for his service and obviously for food.

Please avoid this place if you want to experience the actual tamil food. They serve the north Indian version of Tamil food, meaning everything is sweet and lacks spice. Even the sambar is sweet. 1 star for the food, 4 stars for the service.

A Disappointing Experience – Poor Hygiene and Service This place doesn’t even deserve a star. The food quality is questionable, and after two bad experiences, I won’t be returning. The hygiene standards seriously need improvement. The first time, I found a hair in my food when I ordered via Deliveroo. I gave them the benefit of the doubt, but when I dined in, it happened again—another hair in my meal. It’s unacceptable. While the food itself is just okay, it’s impossible to enjoy when basic cleanliness isn’t maintained. To make matters worse, the staff didn’t seem to care. Instead of properly addressing the issue, all they did was offer a simple apology with no real effort to make up for it. Overall, not a great experience. I’d recommend avoiding this place if you can.

Portions are very small when you take out to eat. Hardly any Sambar they give these days.They supply food in plastic boxes now and don’t really give enough.

Food was too spicy. Not looks that great . We have ordered Chicken pepper fry as starter and they served like a curry. Not that tasty. Biriyani felt like not freshly made. Also there was a bad smell outside the restaurant and sometimes even inside. Price is okay . Quantity also good.

We’ve had an amazing time at Chennai Dosa Dudley Road. There’s a good food selection and everything was on point 👌🏼 People are so lovely there, very hospitable and friendly. Very poor customer service, wait time is too long. Finding parking near is nearly impossible. Food quality is very poor some of the meat looks like gone off weeks ago. Service is worst, no greeting, no manners and very rude service. I’ll go hungry rather using this place.

I went there with my family and friends but I really disappointed Service From Staff even ,we got a Table after a Waiting time at least 15 to 20 min And Placed Order in 10mint. But almost been seating for an hour ,however didn’t receive the order and after that we only got 3 plates out of 10 and after waiting for another 10 min we got 2 plates .Apart from that ,if I’m talking about dosa’s stuffing it was worst .didn’t put stuffing properly oh my god staff’s attitude too much eventually I cancelled the order.we waste time there more than an hour . But to the point its very worst management and I don’t want to go there again

Hi, I have been going to this place since a decade. The current chef (Mr Bharani) has nailed the chutneys (especially the peanut one). The pink dosa was a hot surprise addition to the array of dosas. The staff Monica, Vjjay and everyone are friendly, warm and caring. Over all a great South Indian experience. Forgot to mention the indo Chinese food is finger licking and the filter coffee proper South Indian ! Jay and kin

I am appalled and outraged by the atrocious experience I had at this branch of Chennai Dosa. I wasted my time waiting in the parking lot for the store to open at 10:00 am, only to be met with incompetence and disrespect. When I inquired about the menu in Hindi, a reasonable expectation given the restaurant's Indian origin and name, the male staff member had the audacity to respond with a curt and rude "No Hindi". This unacceptable behavior is a clear indication of the restaurant's utter disregard for customer satisfaction. The fact that we were forced to leave without dining is a testament to the staff's ineptitude. The management of Chennai Dosa needs to take immediate and drastic action to rectify this egregious situation and provide adequate training to their staff on basic customer service and human decency.
