Chennai Cafe in Sandwell

Had a wonderful experience and i would like for the menu to be improved and have more mouth watering dishes added.

Amazing Dosa...best in Birmingham...this is a small family run cafe and you may need to wait for your food and maybe ask again to make sure they have your order is being made...but ...when the food comes you won't be disappointed.

Though away from India but still not far away. I tried so many places & Resturant’s for south Indian food but very close I relate to real authentic south Indian food at Chennai cafe. Amazing staff & owner was so polite and took care of us. This Resturant needs more recognition. Superb & forever customer!

This lovely cosy South Indian restaurant has been in our neighbour hood for almost a year... family run although recently there was a new waitress. Owner very pleasant couple the food is exceptionally good and we eat there a lot😋 never disappointed had a parking problem but that has now been resolved. Prices favourable great flavours good size portions win win in every way...give it a go so so worth it🙏🏽

I have enjoyed my recent experience at Chennai cafe, the food comes out piping hot, delicious, tasty, fresh, full of flavours and balance. Chef YuvaRaj is very kind and a great chef very skilled and experienced from years of experience. You will not be disappointed for authentic Indian food you will love this place

Cosy place. Food is amazing. Staff and owners are so friendly. Keep up good work. I’d recommend you try the coriander dosa and chicken curry with garlic naan

The food was nice and fresh! The customer service was really good and the staff were really attentive. Only thing I would say is that the place itself is quite small. Overall, first visit was good. Would be ordering again :)

I'm not a massive vegi fan and I would avoid this type of cafe to eat but this has made me rethink that completey!!!! I love food and I have to stay I am so impressed and would definitely return We even got take out for dinner ...pictures attached too We went here based on a friend's recommendation not reviews and was very very impressed by the food and service. I would not be deterred by negative reviews as whilst we were there a really stroppy moany family arrived and the service they had was Amazing. Had or been my business I wouldn't have been so polite.

We had great tasty dosa and really enjoyed with the family. All dishes were fresh and well prepared. Good selection of cheats.

The lady who took our order tried overcharging us and when asked for the receipt she kept trying to avoid showing us it. Even though the food was good, if you do go just check yourselfs the total price!!

Unprofessional staff, worst service I ever had in restaurant. owner is so rude . Will never visit again.

Good tasty food. All prepared fresh and authentic unlike other restaurents who claims to be "INDIAN". Only drawback is the location which is isolated and not a good area to dine with family.

I had an amazing time at Chennai Cafe last week and i suggest you too go and try it out for yourself.The price are very reasonably.

I went with my family and it was just amazing.I have never done a review before but I thought I had to do one for this amazing restaurant.I 100% visit this place again.

Food and service still not great but I took some relatives here who like South Indian food.

Menus’ could have done with a clean. We ordered manchooran delicious we had gobi(cauliflower) one and vada Dahl wasn’t to my taste. We also ordered veg noodles which were delicious, my friend ordered some more to take home for the kids. Dosa was massive couldn’t eat it all had a doggy bag, i had potato filling very nice , my friend had paneer (cottage cheese)dosa . Drinks we had a jug of water and glasses. Overall not bad , parking one hour but give them your car registration and it’s waivered. It was cold in there , so wrap up! Overall cleanliness definatleyroom fir improvement.

Food was lovely, hot and tasty . Very friendly hosts. Easy parking in front of the cafe. Will definitely come again.

Food is ok but not a place I would visit again. Was a regular customer up until this evening when the customer service totally deteriorated with the owner's wife not sure as to how to run the business. Was stopped at the door to check the receipt if we paid. An embarrassing situation in front of other customer for a family with kids.

We had a takeaway and to be honest food is much tastier than any similar so claimed authentic south Indian food. The area is not particularly good especially after dark eventhough it is well lit. None of the staff there speaks good English and very difficult to communicate. Of you are having takeaway make sure you check if all the items you ordered are there before you leave the place. This is authentic food and better in taste but needs to improve a lot. Quantity is too bad and very poor and bit over priced compared to similar places in Birmingham. If the management looks in to these small issues they might survive as no proper south Indian food is available in Birmingham.

I came here when they just opened day2 it was delicious fresh and just fun second time it was ok I guess I was hungry my husband had a very bad tummy I just ignored him.. But I went for the third time and I shall not be going back at all the food was just not right at all it was soggy and just tasted bad I truly do not want to trash someone’s livelihood at all the entire customer service was just awful the lady owner doesn’t understand english or even hindi but she knows what a tip is as she asked for 1... fair rnough we all have to make a living My tummy ached when I got home thetrick you in believing that everything is goingthrough the till ie Vat added but no it is not they do not produce a receipt naughty naughty... Its really bad service is horrific its 1 napkin per person and the rest is just downhill I wont be going back.. that is my personal choice lack of consistency awful service and yes as they dont know what is happening they overcharged me 3 times... happy eating

We have been this restaurant today with family and friends, excellent taste.... Starter mixed kebab is really out of the world and we had Hyderabad Briyani... Very nice.... Very friendly staff... Small restaurant but taste of the food is really good... Definitely will go again.

Was recommended to try we’re not disappointed . Family run cafe all staff friendly even chef came out to see if all was ok. Food tasty it’s like a tapas bar lots of choice. Curry choice not huge but fair choice. Everywhere very clean. Not licensed. Parking owners take car reg and contact so you don’t get parking NOTICE not parking fine. Have been few times will be returning lovely way to try lots of tasty food.

So been here about 5 or 6 times.

Visited this newly opened Chennai cafe. Had Barotta , chettinadu lamb curry, Idly and Tea. The authentic taste made me to feel like in chennai. Will visit again to try other dishes.

small cafe type restaurant found in hidden corner of carpark in a not so affluent area of oldbury. run by husband and wife plus kitchen crew. very very clean both in the eating area, kitchen and toilets. this is a dead giveaway that they rate hygiene. so far we have only eaten mainly the dosas and some of the starters. We took away some paneer manchurian and vegetarian dishes but they were ok and not humdinging like Red Oven in Harborne.
