Excellent family run restaurant with gorgeous, home cooked, tasty food, so nice to try something from a different part of the world.We visited for the second time during our holiday with the family and had the set meal which we all thoroughly enjoyed. Just wish the restaurant was closer to our home town as otherwise we would be firm regulars!

We had takeaway and as a vegetarian it was a treat to get fulmo dolmas , such a tasty Persian meal.Had freshly prepared amazing hummus as a starter. Really enjoyed the meal but probably wouldn’t choose to eat in the restaurant. There seems to be no extraction fan in the kitchen and we left after our short wait for our takeaway smelling strongly of the food. We didn’t realise it was cash only but fortunately the owner was happy and prepared to take a bank transfer. Would suggest that being cash only is made obvious on the menus outside and social media. Food well worth it though and will be back for a takeaway.

A hidden gem! This restaurant isn't right on the high street, it's up a short close, so it's easy to miss. Very friendly staff. The menu is full of interesting choices - it was hard to decide what to have. But it hardly mattered - everything we had was delicious. We brought our own wine and had a great night. I'm sure we will be back soon.

Lovely food, wide range on the menu so there's something for everyone, the food was cooked fresh and the service was excellent. Comfortable little restaurant, almost feels as if you are in someone's home with a home cooked meal.

This was a surprise 🤩 We were searching for a restaurant/cafe for lunch after our distillery tour and were unable to find one until we found this hidden gem !! We had FULMO DAMAS(Lebanese) and a vegetarian pizza. It was awesome 😋😋 Made to perfection 😁 Definitely worth a 5 star rating 👍🏻

Outstanding food. Veggie and Child friendly. A wee gem hidden away in Aberfeldy. I have been coming on holiday here for years and never tried Checheks until a friend recommended jt. Food freshly cooked to order by a wonderful couple who looked after us all brilliantly. Bring your own beer, and it is cash or balance transfer only. Will definitely be returning. The kebabs are wonderful.

We found this hidden gem in Trip Advisor and decided to give it a try as we were staying nearby in Kenmore. We didn’t book and arrived at around 5pm on a Wednesday evening. We were greeted by the host who was a great guy and showed us to our choice of table as we had the place to ourselves. The restaurant is very cosy and traditionally decorated with a nice atmosphere. It’s soft drinks and hot drinks only which was fine with us. We ordered hummus and breads for a sharing starter which was fantastic. The freshly cooked warm bread was delicious with the hummus being really tasty. The main courses we had mixed kebab (donner chicken and shish £15) served with chips, salad and a chilli sauce. We couldn’t fault any of it and all the plates went back empty. There was also a kids menu and our little one went with chicken nuggets chips and a bit of salad. Again her plate was emptied. We had baklava for desert which was lovely. The host was attentive without being in your face and he even gave out little girl a bracelet for her birthday which was a nice gesture. Our total bill was £77 which is reasonable for a family of four. We will definitely return when we are next in the area. Five stars from us *****

Definitely worth a visit when in Aberfeldy. Really tasty Persian food - had a selection of mezeh, a peri-peri chicken main and various kebabs and house salad - so nice to eat something not the same old fare at local restaurants (ie. f&c, burgers, pasta etc). Checheks is off the main square in Aberfeldy, down a short alley (see photo). Don’t be put off by the ‘take-away design of menu’. The Maitre’D is so helpful and really attentive (I wanted a salad without dressing and forgot to ask, but they provided a new salad anyway - excellent service!)

We had a lovely night in Checheks. It’s tucked away down a small lane off the Square. When we checked it out it was so much more than we expected. The food is fresh and made to order with an extensive menu. The staff were lovely. Great atmosphere. So glad we found it.

The food is outstanding with the meze a real standout. Delicate with incredible flavours. The flatbread is cooked on the premises and outstanding - warm, crisp and fluffy. The baklava was cardamom and rose scented and served with perfect Turkish coffee in ornate gold filigree cups. The owner has a lovely, gentle manner and is so friendly and welcoming.

Fantastic little restaurant tucked away in Aberfeldy main square. Wonderful food and excellent service. Take cash as no machine but such good value for money. Dog friendly which is always worth a visit 👏🏻👏🏻 The menu is eclectic and varied and fantastic all wonderfully prepared and served.

Very quaint place, an absolute diamond of a find. Delightful man and outstanding food with many vegan options. Ate here with a 10 & 13yo and they loved the food too. Unique decor just added to this lovely experience.

Fabulous food, we wandered in expecting a glorified kebab restaurant and were amazed with this place. The food was delicious and clearly home made. I had the mezeh with the Persian lamb stew. My husband had the full mixed kebab - really flavourful dishes. Would definitely recommend a visit

Very authentic family run Persian restaurant in Aberfeldy. The food is simple but delicious, clearly very home style and not particularly modified to suit the mainstream British palate which is wonderful. It’s lovely finding such eclectic cuisine in such a far flung place, as this is normally the sort of restaurant that you might happen across in Kensington High Street. Friendly service and great food. No alcohol licence so bring your own. Highly recommended.

This is a quirky little place but wow the food was amazing. We had Olives to start followed by kebabs the chicken and lamb was seasoned amazingly.the rice was amazing and they are able to accommodate various dietary requirements. We really enjoyed it 😀

Delightful Persian meal with wonderful service from the owner Mehdi. A great varied menu with options of pizza and pasta for those less adventurous but the traditional mixed kebab and stew we had were absolutely delicious. Mehdi seemed genuinely happy to serve us and was lovely to speak to. We finished our evening outside with a shisha pipe that he prepared for us (see photo!) after we pointed out them as decoration, a lovely little touch at the end of a wonderful meal.

Stopped off for a late lunch at this hidden gem - no queue, eclectic decor, and a bizarrely large menu obfuscate an absolutely excellent culinary experience. Local friends took us to this restaurant last night and it was like being transported to Iran. The decor is wonderfully eclectic, full of pieces from the owners homeland. The owner is also the chef and his flavoursome Persian dishes are a delight to the tastebuds. It's my perfect kind of restaurant - understaded, not flashy or expensive but where the food is outstanding. I'm not sure i've ever written a review before but i left last night thinking that this tucked away restaurant was such a find that it had to be shared! If you want to have an alcoholic drink then you need to bring your own but we ended up trying his amazing home-made ginger cordial which you can have cold with sparkling water or hot.

Had a fabulous meal today at chechecks. Unassuming little restaurant, tucked away in the centre of Aberfeldy. The flavours were outstanding and the service was second to none. Fresh made flat bread to accompany our mezeh starter was a real treat. Would highly recommend.

We. Spotted this little restaurant tucked away in a little alley when in need of a late afternoon snack. One thing led to another and we could not resist. Genuine Persian dishes along with pasta and pizza with real Persian hospitality and atmosphere. Homemade hearty soup Ashe Reshteh was Devine and was hummus and homemade flatbread. We will back for a full evening meal. Can't wait.

I'd take a detour off the A9 to get here! We popped in during the afternoon to ask about gluten free options and we were struck by the owner's friendliness, so that was the decision made! We had kebabs and the wee one had pizza, with hummus to start. Everything was delicious - we suspect the hummus was made there and then, and the accompanying bread was soft, light and very tasty. Our kebabs were succulent and tasty, and the owner advised regarding accompaniments (rice vs chips etc). Go for the rice - it's gorgeous. Our daughter's pizza was made with lovely homemade dough with a decent amount of topping. She had ice cream to finish and again we suspect it was homemade. Gluten free is no problem (just let them know and avoid the bread-based dishes). It's BYOB which is always good. What a great find!

Party of 12 booked in last minute. All served our food quickly. Food was hot, fresh and tasty. Good value for money. Turkish coffee was nice and the saffron and rose ice cream was pretty special too. The decor is quite unique and theres plenty to look at whilst your meals being prepared. The owner is a lovely host.

Found this restaurant by accident last night and my partner and I had an amazing meal, so much so, we booked and returned for a second time tonight. Food was amazing! We have been coming to stay at Moness resort for a few years and wish we had discovered this restaurant sooner! Food was delicious, all three courses! And so reasonably priced! The chef and her husband were very welcoming and more than happy to answer our many questions about Iranian food and culture which we found very interesting. Lovely gesture that the chef came and spoke to us after our meal. Such a lovely couple. Can’t wait to return on our next visit......Stephen and Jane from Falkirk....

We visit this unique restaurant every time we visit Aberfeldy. It’s a real treat for us. First discovered Checheks 10 yrs ago and so pleased it has stood the test of time!

Lovely little restaurant with a big welcome. We had really nice Greek starters and then beautiful stew and kebab. No license so nipped out to the local shop for wine which kept price of the meal down. Great value.

We visited this lovely restaurant in middle of October 2019, we walked in quite late at night and the owner accommodated us with a smile which we were very grateful for, and I must say that the service and food in this restaurant were first rate. We ordered cold mezze platter to begin with which was delicious, we asked the chef/owner to recommend few dishes for the main course, we had Persian lamb and saffron rice, and a mix kebab Calazone, my tastebuds took me to Iran after having such delicious food, we were even served complimentary Irani tea, which was so tasty.

We were looking for a quick lunch and thought this restaurant might serve some tasty Persian cuisine. The decor is awful, very aged and dark. The chap serving was very friendly, he seemed to be doing everything from cleaning, cooking and serving... he assumed we didn’t know much about Mediterranean cuisine and served us dolmades, humus with lovely bread followed by kebabs, rice and salad. We’ve had far nicer dolma and humus, both were awful. The kebab should have been tender and juicy except it was dry and inedible. Was it freshly prepared, we didn’t think so. Our jaws hurt from chewing the rubbery concoction masquerading as kebab. It seemed precooked and reheated.... after a week in the fridge.

Completely different from anything we have ever had but in the best way, this Iranian owned restaurant is well worth travelling for. Excellent food and charming host make this a real experience and incredibly good value.

Visited here for dinner last night. We were made to feel welcome the moment we stepped through the door. Although there were no other diners the restaurant had a good feel to it. The owner greeted us and was more than keen to discuss the menu, telling us about the traditional Persian and Lebanese dishes. We ordered starters to share... Would highly recommend the Stuffed Green Pepper, Tzatziki and flat bread. Mains were Lamb Stew and A traditional Chicken dish which I can't remember the name of. We asked for more flatbread to have with our main meal and this was readily brought out for us. Dessert menu limited but both of us enjoyed an Apple Pie and Apple and Fruit tartlet.

Had a lovely meal here with my girlfriend . Had the dog with us and not a problem being served . Girlfriend is vegan and owner catered for this superbly.
