Fantastic restaurant. The food was amazing and the staff couldn’t have been more helpful. Definitely recommended you won’t be disappointed.

Wife and I ate there tonight. Great friendliness of all staff and the food spot on (I'm an ex-chef) I had haggis neeps and tatties to start, wife had soup, then both had the Fern burger. Finished with sticky toffee pudding between two. Everything really good. Left happy that we'd had a good night with good service. We'll return definitely.

I had a meal here on Saturday night.Staff were great and very efficient, polite and hardworking.I ordered the mushroom linguine on the menu it says it would have cream,garlic,spinach topped with rocket and parmasan. It was topped with rocket but the parmasan was very dark I didn't realise it was there. The pasta was in a very hot oil like vinegar smelling liquid.The smell was strong I only ate the dryer pasta at the top .Fortunately my friend can eat anything so they ate the rest but they also said it didn't look like a cream sauce and had a strong smell of vinegar. The cost of the meal was £50 plus.My friend had fish and chips ...the chips looked overcooked.I think maybe we were unlucky to arrive at a very busy time.Would I go back ...probably not

We popped in here early in the afternoon and were lucky to spontaneously get a table. It's really a very cozy place, with friendly service and delicious food. Both the soup beforehand, the haggis and the fish and chips were fresh, tasty and plentiful. In terms of price, it also matched the price/performance ratio. Card payment was possible.

From the moment we walked in we felt very rushed to order and eat our meal. It felt like the main staff member was watching us the whole time and just waiting for us to finish eating. The chicken portion was small and overcooked, and the chips with the fish were soggy. We mentioned it to the aforementioned gentleman who said that they’re supposed to be soggy because they’re homemade….The one saving grace was the very friendly lady who said goodbye and thanked us for coming but there are much better options in Pitlochry to eat at than here if you want good food.

Cute little restaurant, friendly staff and attentive service, but the food was only 50/50. I had the fern cottage burger,. The beef patty and the onion ring on top were good but all I could taste of the burger was the BBQ sauce. Too heavy on the sauce, and the cheese was more of a cheese sauce than a nice slice of sharp Cheddar or equivalent and it oozed out heabilt when i squeezed the burger to get a bite in. The fries were really good though, but the meal itself was not worth €19 ($40CAN). I had a burger at the Isle of Glencoe Hotel that was worth it tho (€22), amazing burger and so worth it, nice and light, no heavy sauces, fresh veg, so it's possible. For an appie I had hummus, should be a no brainer but all I could taste was olives - no garlic or tahini or chickpea, just olive (which i can't stand). I've tried dozens of different hummus's in my 50yrs, never had one where the only flavor was olive. If u love olives, have no fear and order it but if u r looking for hummus, give it a pass. My boyfriend had the prawn appie and prime rib w peppercorn sauce for the main. Both delicious, although it's weird in scotland to have a nice steak coming w fries vs a nice mashed potato side. The steak was €34, or about $68CAN, it was cooked perfectly, nice and tender with a delicious peppercorn sauce, but I've had a better sirloin at the keg for $28can. The bottle of malbec we had was really good and worth the price for a bottle at a restaurant, no problem paying for a nice wine. We walked down the road and checked out The Bridge Restaurant menu and wished we had eaten there instead. Skip The Fern and try the Bridge.

I very much enjoyed my visit here. Lots of taisty vegetarian and vegan options. The vegan food is on another menu, I would love to see this combined into one menu. I have the vegetable kebab which was lovely but I felt it could have done with a little more cous cous because it didn't feel that filling as a main course but was still delicious.

What a little gem 💎 food was delicious service amazing and a lovely intimate dinning experince even thought it was busy the staff took time to chat and make sure all was good. Best meal and venue for us this holiday

Been coming to Pitlochry for over 10 years and had never tried Fern Cottage Restaurant until now so it’s never too late to try somewhere new & what a find! Black Pudding & Goats Cheese (with walnuts) to start with which was lovely, followed by their mouth watering Ribeye Steak which was delicious with French Mustard. Be back soon Marius, thoroughly enjoy our meal!

Lovely little cottage for a meal, love the style of the inside of the building. Food was pretty good, soup of the day was amazing. Although the olives could've been better. The haggis isn't my cup of tea but it's the first time I had tried it so I don't know how it's supposed to taste, I still managed to eat it all, the mashed turnip and potato complimented it. Some of the staff didn't exactly have a vibrant energy, didn't exactly seem happy working there.

We stopped by this cozy restaurant on our way back to Edinburgh from Inverness, and it was a fantastic experience! The staff was incredibly friendly, making us feel right at home. Our dinner was absolutely delicious, the dessert was brilliant, and the coffee was superb – truly authentic Italian. The prices were very reasonable, making the whole experience even better. Highly recommend!

We had dinner on 24/10/24 during a busy night as the enchanted forest was on. I cant compliment this place enough the food was a very pleasing typical Scottish restaurant and they smashed it. The food was spectacular in flavour and the dishes were some of the best we have had of that version. Seriously whoever their chef is keep them their worth their weight in gold! The prices I think for what we had was very reasonable I had fish and chips and my partner had the venison both were perfect! The service was amazing from the staff they were super helpful and nothing was a bother for them. Atmosphere was lovely as well a classic old cottage style building very cosy perfect for couples and families. We will definitely be back.

Mediterranean fusion with Scottish cuisine! Very nice atmosphere, rustic cottage feel. The promise of Mediterranean food didn’t quite deliver, but the simple menu provided ample food and good flavours. Prices were as expected for a touristy restaurant, but desserts were a bit excessive.

Fern Cottage was a great find! The service and atmosphere were both fantastic—our server was incredibly nice and made us feel right at home. Although I’m not an expert on fish and chips, I have to say it was exceptional! The flavors and freshness really stood out. Absolutely fantastic food and wine, served in a nice setting/ ambience. The only slight downside was it felt like everyone was leaving the restaurant quite early that night and we would have been uncomfortable staying on.

Went here for an evening meal. We ordered a starter of Hummus with bread to share and I had the vegetable kebab which came with a salad, couscous and dressings. My partner had the salmon on crushed potato with vegetables. These were all served quickly and were well cooked and piping hot. All dishes were tasty and sufficient that we did not want anything else. We complemented these with a bottle of Pinot Grigio which was very drinkable. Service was quick and efficient

Fern Cottage was listed in the top 10 reviews of Pitlochry restaurants so we were keen to give it a try. We were greeted and shown to our table and our orders were taken by some lovely members of staff. Our food was delicious, fresh and piping hot, really tasty, and beautifully presented. Fern Cottage itself is delightful inside and out. We were very impressed and would highly recommend to others

One of our regular haunts. Food is excellent and cooked to order. Staff are excellent, friendly and helpful. Menu choice really good and varied, with specials also on offer. We are regular customers and never disappointed. Patio seating enhanced with heaters and blankets. Excellent wine list.

Had a fantastic meal last night the staff were amazing amd very attentive especially Sarah we had the Venison and it was cooked to perfection you can tel its cooked with care compliments to the chef.

We had a great time! Food, staff, atmosphere were all great. Had a few meals in Pitlochry and this was by far the best. Look forward to visiting again before too long.

We had the duck; amazing! The venison; amazing! Tiramisu; delicious! The ambiance was very nice. I thought the prices were a bit too high; but the quality was really good. If I lived here, I wouldn't be able to eat here regularly; but I would still come once in a while as a treat to look forward to.

In this charming town, this place makes a commitment to diversity in its menu and, despite some reviews, they did not seem crazy or unwise to me. We have ordered typical Scottish things like Fish&Chips, soup of the day which was very good and something different like Tzatziki (a bit of a Greek treat) and everything has been phenomenal. If you want a super typical place, well, maybe it's not your restaurant, but to have a nice meal in a well-located place with nice service, here's my recommendation.

Very nice and refined atmosphere. Varied menu, with a jumble of options that lose the authenticity one expects. At first glance it seems like a Greek restaurant, but then there are British and Italian dishes... a mix with little logic. Good ingredients. Excellent service.

Came here because of the excellent reviews. We were disappointed. They market themselves in the fine dining category but the food is very average at best, yet priced as if top end. There were so many things which should have been better but, to mention just one, my pan fried salmon was dry, overcooked, presented with skin uppermost as if it was edible - but it was limp and definitely not for eating. Yet the flesh was dry. So many things weren't quite right (maybe the chef was off?) We won't he back.

We ate very well here. The food was served very nicely and was plentiful. We sat on the terrace and the heater was turned on. A very nice atmosphere. The waiters were also very nice. Keep it up😀

Best restaurant in Pitlochry thanks to Marius and his team! We are locals and have visited Fern Cottage for many years for the excellent food. In the past the atmosphere ( lighting/ music etc) didn’t match the amazing food but under Marius’ management the atmosphere now aligns with the fantastic food to make this by far the best eating experience locally. Excellent service, delicious food and drink - a brilliant night out and we would highly recommend!

We enjoyed a very pleasant evening meal. It was tasty food from a good selection (but not too much) served by friendly staff. The ambience was nice for a quiet dinner.

We had draft beer and two dishes. My duck was excellent, accompanied by whole and pureed root vegetables, apricots and flowers. The whole thing was harmonious and made with quality products. My companion had fish and chips: huge fillet of fish with fries and salad. The setting is cozy, the music and the atmosphere pleasant.

Having visited fern cottage through various owners over the many years we have visited it has always had an amazing service and great food . We visited yesterday and wow not only has the food raised the bar it exceeds anything before and the service was quick and highly efficient. Brilliant 👍

Unexpectedly superb restaurant. Right from entering water brought to the table and drinks order taken. I ordered the venison medallions which tasted delicious. Service was very attentive but not obtrusive. Recommended!!

I planned to eat in another restaurant but had to wait for ten minutes to get a menu and then almost ten minutes for someone to pick up the order. I left and came to this restaurant. I was seated immediately and given the menu, and waited a reasonable time for my food. The restaurant was beautiful and the food was beyond delicious. For a starter I had mushroom bruschetta and mains was fish and chips. The best chips I ever ate out. Everything was amazing. The only thing is that in my opinion it is overpriced but still worth it. I'll come again. 😁

A family meal at this excellent restaurant in central Pitlochry. Booked on the website no problem. It was pouring with rain so we sat inside but the terrace looked nice. We shared bread & mezze to start, I had aubergine gnocchi as a main - delicious. Great desserts too. Friendly service. Highly recommended.

Although we have been to Pitlochry many times this was our 1st time at Fern Cottage and definitely won't be the last. Due to some swallowing issues after cancer treatment Jim had the haggis/neeps/tatties and said it was the best he's had in a long time. My meal was equally nice. The staff were very pleasant and the atmosphere was very nice also.

Fabulous food. Fabulous service. Arrived early and we sat outside. As it was a pleasant evening we asked if we could change our booked inside table for one outside. It was not a problem and our host even advised that they would put the outdoor heater on if we needed it. Definitely recommend.

The staff was friendly and the food was great. Had the duck with mashed potatoes and the sticky toffee pudding, which were both delicious. Their signature "Fern-Cocktail" was also very nice.

Very good food and super nice waitresses

Had the fish and chips here based on reading other Google reviews. The restaurant is lively and has a really nice ambiance. Service was great. Our fish and chips were well seasoned and the fish was a very healthy portion. The batter was light but not the lightest I’ve ever had; hence the four stars. Other surrounding diners had very appetizing dishes as well.

We dined here the other night for my father’s birthday dinner. Food was excellent. He had the venison and my husband and I shared the green salad with halloumi and mushroom linguine. We did not have a car as we arrived by train and my father wasn’t up to walking back to our hotel since it’s uphill. The taxi driver said it would be an hour. The host (I can’t remember his name) offered to drive my dad to the hotel. Such a nice thing to do, we were very taken aback and grateful for such wonderful service. We will absolutely dine here again if we find ourselves in Pitlochry.

I ate on the terrace which was filled with sunshine. The team were attentive and swift. I ordered the super salad with tofu and an aperol spritz. Both were tasty and I will continue to recommend this restaurant.

Best fish and chips in Scotland so far.

Don't let the casual terrace tables disuade you.This is a prime restaurant, that obviously " loves to cook". One of the few in town that actually provides a dining experience and not just a meal. Mediterranean influences are expertly blended with Scotland cuisine at fair prices. Comfortable Interior and welcoming attentive staff. Dont forget reservations !!

3rd visit and different owners from the last time we went but oh my goodness it was amazing and worth the trip. We were enquired about an item that was not on the website menu. The restaurant got back to us quickly to say that although the item was not on the menu, they would source it for us if we let them know when we were coming. When we arrived we were greeted in a friendly manner and the staff let us know that they had managed to source the food that we wanted. We had the olives, feta tzatziki and warm bread to start and then we had fillet steaks cooked to perfection with delicious mushrooms, salad, grilled tomato and good chunky chips. Home made tiramisu for dessert. It was a meal to remember and a very reasonable bill for the quality of food and service that we received. A very personal service and welcomed like family. Can't wait to visit again.

Fantastic food and service, one of the best meals ever eaten

We had a lovely meal on the terrace overlooking the gardens in Pitlochry. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Food was clearly cooked fresh and was simple and delicious. Also well priced. The interior was lovely also. We brought our dog to the terrace.

Good restaurant, very nice waitress. Tabbouleh salad with chicken or halloumi supplement (the chef prepared the salad without cucumber following my specific request) as well as gnocchi with Mediterranean sauce. We had a blast! Parking a few steps from the restaurant but paying.

Were recommended to come here by our accommodation, were not disappointed! Fast service from start to finish, our mains (duck and pork) were nicely presented and cooked to perfection. Lively atmosphere but not loud. Keep up the good work.

Excellent restaurant in the heart of Pitlochry, combining Scottish traditional with Mediterranean food. Food is cooked to perfection, the ambience is very good and the service is professional. You have to try it yourself when in Pitlochry. Advance bookings are recommended.

Honestly, quite possibly the best food and combination of tastes I have ever eaten. I had the trio of salmon and the goats cheese with black pudding. I could not fault anything. I would travel across the world to eat here again. Thank you to the new owners and staff for a wonderful experience.
