We went here as a group so we had a food service kind of experience where they would bring us various dishes then remove the plates and bring us the next course. There were no choice in what was put on the table which I didn’t mind. The food though was sadly average. I’ve eaten a lot of Indian food in the UK and in various other countries (other than India) and the flavours of the food were the kind of thing that someone inexperienced with curry making could easily make at home. Seriously. I put my hand to curry making some years back and the main course Dhal (the only vegetarian thing on offer) was small, kind of warm (temperature wise) but not quite. No spice whatsoever and poorly seasoned. I was not on my own with my opinion here. There were starter type dishes out on the table at first. Some breads which may as well have been bought from a supermarket and dressed on to a plate. Some little onion bhaji balls which were small and somewhat dry and tasteless. The rest was meat. Many of the guests were vegetarian, pescatarian or vegan and they knew it but the meat kept coming. I asked if there was anything else for non meat eaters and the chap rushed off and came back a few minutes later with another plate of bhaji balls. Equally well dressed on to a plate and equally dry and tasteless. The main was a lamb dish or the Dhal. All the dishes were in small portion type bowls so you had to get in quick to avoid a teaspoons worth left over after everyone had had their small portion. Small, tasteless and bland. I have no axe to grind with these people. I don’t even live in the same city as them and was there due to work. It’s just they make a big fuss of bringing up the Michelin thing and show you lovely pictures of fantastic looking food that could only taste out of this world right? Hopefully you had a better experience than us. I ate hardly anything and I don’t need much in a sitting. Still cost over £40 a head which silenced the crowd as the lady rushed around us bleeping as many contactless payments as she could before anyone questioned the bill. Positives? One main one. It’s a nice well lit building but deserves much better food considering its looks. The staff are what you’d expect in any curry house. The lady taking the payments felt rushed and devoid of smiles or any sense of pride in the establishment that seems to have a very high opinion of itself. If you want a property curry, go to the east end of London. These people should do at least that well or better but in my experience only managed to achieve a level slightly lower than the most average Indian take away in my city.

we had a Indian group of 60+ people and all are vegetarian guest, we had booked Chatora Restaurant-Richmond days before coming to London for Lunch. when we arrived on 03.08.2024 at restaurant there was not enough capacity to accommodate 60 + people and we were not informed by co owner (Mr. Jamshed). Our guest did not liked food as well and restaurant staff and owner behavior was very bad towards the guest. we will not recommend there restaurant in future.

I ordered a takeaway from Chatora which was really really delicious. The pistachio chicken korma and chicken tikka starter were both exceptional. The menu is much more inventive than what you would expect from a typical Indian restaurant. We will definitely be ordering again. Excellent food and friendly, fast service, really impressed. Its easy to be critical of most Indian restaurants in london, they can be a bit samey, but this place was excellent. Every dish was full of flavor amd texture. Really well thought out. The lamb shank is a must. The paneer tikka is by far the best we've had. Was similar to Gymkhanas, with the stuffing but actually think it was better. At 130 for the two of us including drinks and tip, very reasonable considering the standard. I have some American friends coming to town all wanting to go GymKhana, I think we will probably take them to Chatora instead. Really cool food, well done. Only criticism is the poppadoms. Can see they tried to think out the box, but some things don't need it imo.

One of the best Michelin Indian Restaurant, i have ever been to in UK. Strangely i have seen few negative reviews on google and still thought of giving it a shot. honestly, it was my best decision. i must say the flavors, food presentation, friendly staff everything was nice and i felt welcoming. My friends who joined me ordered 3 Starters to begin with and it turned to be lip-smacking took me back to Mumbai Flavor's. the main course was fresh and the quality of the the Halal meet and Paneer did match the standards of a Michelin restaurant. its CHATORA RICHMOND is MY NEW HAPPY PLACE. i have booked it for my office party for this month end and will definitely recommend them within my network. Bit disappointing experience at this restaurant that was highly recommended to us by a friend. The food was nice and some dishes were really tasty. Pistaccio chicken korma looked beautiful but didn’t taste of pistaccio (more of a thick pea sauce), chicken tikka was excellent. Rabbit naan was a real nice discovery. The main waitress was rather cold but the rest of the staff was lovely. The place was nicely decorated with a nice outdoor space at the front. As our first experience there, it just wasn’t that exceptional but it was good !

Save your money and go elsewhere. Chatora is nothing more than a glorified curry house (nothing wrong with that but it positions itself as more than that). Completely style over substance - food looks great but taste falls short. If you want evidence it’s a curry house, go to the bathrooms which need sprucing up. Overall the food is overpriced and generally pretty disappointing. The service is shockingly bad. More detail below. Food… everything was over spiced, no balance of flavour at all. Good Indian food should be better balanced. I’m almost certain that some of it was microwaved, which is pretty unacceptable in most people’s book. Bhaji: overspiced hugely, not crispy and not made fresh. Tasted like a ready meal one but with too much spice. Paneer tikka: completely tasteless and no charring even though it was cooked in the tandoor. Sweetcorn relish on top was definitely heated in the microwave(!). Aloo Tikki Chat: good flavour overall and probably the best thing we ate but again over spiced. Pahidi Chicken: three pieces of chicken included. Over spiced again and tasted like the base of any other curry on the menu. Railway saag lamb: lamb was tiny pieces (keep in mind this is £20). This was an ok dish but overpriced and underwhelming. Butter Naan: this was a plain naan. A tiny bit of butter on the top half, nothing on the bottom half. Roti: no butter on this also so was very dry. Rice: I am staggered to say this was microwaved. There is absolutely no denying it. The bowl was red hot and it was steaming. Service… the service was ok in that the food arrived in a timely manner but the waiting staff are very cold and unwelcoming. I walked in and the guy just looked at me. Said my time and he just pointed where to sit without uttering a word.

We had a few dishes and the Sunday roast. The food was good, service was ok, some dishes for the Sunday roast were a little late coming out and there seemed to be confusion around the dishes and what accompanied the roast when the food was brought to the table. Recently dined at this vibrant restaurant, and the lively atmosphere immediately caught our attention. The place was bustling with people, creating a lively buzz. The owner, who was remarkably friendly, engaged us in a pleasant chat, adding a personal touch to our dining experience. Opting for the bottomless brunch, we were surprised to learn it doesn't happen on rugby days. Nonetheless, it gives us a perfect reason to return for another delightful experience. The food was a true highlight. We started with Papad basket which came with three delicious chutneys. Our starter Tandoori Phool was a burst of unique flavors, unlike anything I've tasted before. My other half savored the chicken biryani, expressing his delight. As a vegetarian, I tried the Artichoke- asparagus biryani, a dish I had never experienced before. To say it was extraordinarily delicious would be an understatement. The drinks complemented the meal perfectly (though my Mango turmeric tango cocktail lacked Mango flavour it was more turmericy) , rounding off a delightful dining experience. Despite the rugby day hiccup, the delicious food, friendly owner, and lively ambiance make it a place we're eager to revisit. Highly recommended for those seeking a combination of delectable cuisine and a warm, welcoming atmosphere. 🍽️🥂 #DiningDelight

Totally disappointed. We went for dinner with friends on weekend. We have been there few years ago, when it opened, that time food was delicious but now it was a big disappointment for us. Cocktails were so rubbish. Starters were not good at all except Crispy Aloo Tikki chaat. Mains were ok...nothing wow...and couldn't see any difference between garlic naan and chilli garlic naan! Who put tons of sweetcorn in Paneer tikka with some weird (green) stuffing...totally pathetic.. not at all Paneer tikka. You can see in the last picture. I must say the presentation of food was superb. But everyone goes to restaurant for sumptuous food not for a beautiful presentation. It is an expensive restaurant, gives less quantity, which we don't mind if it give us delicious and tasty food. We are vegetarian so my review is for their vegetarian food. For us, it was a big waste of money. Staff was good. Ambience is lovely.

We went as a group of 4 friends and were greeted well and given nice seats. When the food arrived, just 2 out of 5 tasted good. The Crispy Aloo Tikki Chat and Daal were specifically delicious. But the Paneer curry tasted a bit off (on the verge of spoilt), the Raita had wayyy too burnt flavour and the Dessert was just about okay. The food was very disappointing, I had high hopes for this place as it claimed to be a Michelin star and I booked it for a birthday meal. As a South Asian person I know good Indian food and this was not it. The handi gosht which claimed to have meltable lamb had very very chewy lamb. And the chicken biriyani was very average. We left more than half the food. The onion bhajis were also very dense and dry. When the bill came they gave complimentary bite of stale rice krispies covered in chocolate. I recently dined at Chatora, and the experience was nothing short of extraordinary. Nestled in the heart of Richmond, the restaurant has managed to seamlessly integrate traditional Indian flavors with innovative culinary techniques. The end result is a menu that celebrates the diversity and richness of India's vast culinary heritage. The talents of Head Chef Sunil D'Souza are evident in each dish, with every bite telling a story of India's various regions—from the robust flavors of the North to the nuanced spices of the South, and the coastal influences of the East and West. The quality of the ingredients, especially the locally-sourced British seasonal produce, elevates the dining experience to new heights. Among the standout dishes were the vegetarian options and the tandoor specialities. Seafood and game are also represented, offering a comprehensive array of choices for every palate. I would highly recommend Chatora for anyone seeking to explore the boundaries of Indian cuisine while enjoying an elegant and sophisticated atmosphere. It's a gastronomic journey that shouldn't be missed. Five stars all the way.

Not a fan of indian food after all the decades of putting up with standard to poor indian food around southall / hounslow. But this place is like a new generation of indian food yet still has that authentic style. You can actually taste the freshness and quality. nothing like i have tasted before. The lamb was super soft, gravy was amazing, then after i found out the lamb is organic. Need to go again to try the lamb shank. The service and presentation was excellent. Had a great overall experience at Chatora for a wedding rehearsal dinner. The manager (Jam) was very accommodating and helpful from start to finish with menu and planning for our larger party, and the food was fantastic. Overall, I would definitely recommend Chatora!

We’ve been here quite a few times, never disappoints. The food is delicious and so well presented. Most recently we had the set lunch menu which was delicious, perfect portion sizes and amazing value for money. The wine is always exceptional and really reasonably priced.

Lovely atmosphere and good service. However, the food somewhat average and nothing to get excited about. We were left disappointed given the raving reviews, photos and Michelin stars.

Been here a few times and the highlight for me is always the food. It's rare to find very authentic (largely unmodified) flavours - which chatora delivers - with just a tiny bit of modernization. I think they serve the best lamb seekh kababs I've eaten in London. An average place will serve seekh kebabs that are too springy whereas Chef Sunil nails them - delicate and crumbly at the gentlest bite but held together just enough. I also enjoyed the chicken biryani and black Daal. The food is a tad bit on the spicier side than average Indian places but I love the fact that the food is carefully prepared without too much oil. They also generously served us a celebration plate with cake for the special occasion we went for. Well done Chatora for maintaining your food quality. Would love to try the Pahari chicken at the next visit

This is a little neighbourhood restaurant, seating spaces on 3 levels. The pistachio chicken korma and Railway saag lamb was was really good. The naans were very good although expensive. The salad was a bit random with mango, pomegranate, broccoli, green beans, cherry tomatoes, feta, lettuce. Don't need so many ingredients. The falooda dessert was delicious but way too small for almost £10. Would recommend.

The best indian restaurant and food ever. Was a recommendation from another person also staying in Richmond and we could not of been happier. Will definitely return to try more of this amazing food !

Unfortunately, our experience at this restaurant left much to be desired. The pricing seemed quite high for what turned out to be average food. The initial surprise of being charged £10 for water and papadum, which we assumed would be complimentary, was disappointing(at least they should have give customers a menu beforehand). While the food was alright, the portions were notably small considering the price. It's unfortunate that the overall value didn't meet our expectations.

Found this place on Google Maps during an impromptu Friday evening in Richmond. A more upmarket venue than your typical curry house, it was really busy when the four of us turned up without a reservation at 8pm. Thankfully they managed to find us a table and we had an excellent meal. The menu offers a relatively small number of dishes, but everything we had was delicious, good sized portions, which were well spiced and of high quality. The lamb shank was especially tender and tasty. Owner and our servers were friendly and welcoming. Will be back for sure 😊

Good food but the toilets need attention. No hot water, and only a trickle of water coming out of the tap, and the hand drier does not work, at least they had soap! I thought that it was a one off, but, when we went back a few months later, the loos were still a shambles. Friendly staff but service a tad slow and not quite as attentive as some other restaurants. Overall, an ok restaurant, but, I expected a bit more attention to detail for the prices they charge.

Top, top, top dining experience. For any lamb lovers out there.. all lamb dishes were PERFECT. The chops were truly exceptional. I ordered a variety of starters, all of which were delicious. The quail keema naan was very simple but executed to perfection. All in all the flavours in the food were on point. It's not a typical Indian restaurant where the food is loaded with loads of spices and masala. In my opinion this was on the mild and subtle side which makes it very versatile for people of different palettes. It's an experience I highly recommend.

Nice pub, pretty standard beer prices for the area and nice food. Friendly service too and outside areas that I would assume are great in the summer, looking forward to that!

We chose to have lunch here one Sunday for convenience. While the place is family-friendly, unfortunately, three out of four of us who ate the chicken ended up with upset stomachs for the rest of the day. The only person who didn’t eat the chicken was completely fine. When we raised the issue with the staff, they denied any responsibility obviously. We will never trust the food here again. Be cautious!
