Chatelherault Inn in South Lanarkshire

Had a great night in the lovely function room here for my nephews party. Staff were friendly and very attentive.

Decent food. Lovely stuff. Will be back.

Had my wedding reception here last Friday and it was amazing, we asked to decorate the hall the day before and Ann the owner was completely fine with it, the food was amazing and so flavourful and the DJ was amazing too, made me and my wife really happy with picking here as we were not sure and Ann had helped us the full way with the reception. If I had anything negative to say, I would but there is nothing negative here, the barmaids are polite and extremely helpful. And the chef's were amazing as well. I will definitely come back here for a meal some point with my wife and possibly even have our anniversaries here. Amazing 10/10 service and everything else ranging from cheap drinks and amazing food. The drinks were cheap and very nice and I definitely do recommend coming here and having a party/wedding here as it's honestly an amazing atmosphere

First time of being there and was impressed. A lovely place ideal as a wedding venue. Staff were attentive but not in the way. Food was delicious and as not a massive room it had a cosy atmosphere... Loved it!

The only disappointment was looking for the waitress to get the bill and then going to find her again to pay. I understood she was on alone and showing people the function suite, but that was ridiculous. We could've walked out without paying!!!

Quiet during week other than tv's sport on. Food ok but plain fayre. Portion Suize is good. Service was v.g. Dogs allowed.

Took my 80 year old mum in, young girl took us to a table that was wonky, she tried for about five minutes to stick stuff under it before mowing us to another table ,only another table in so don’t know why she didn’t just do that to start with, this one had mud all under the table so sat with my seat away from the table. My mum has a small appetite so she asked for half a bowl of soup and a ham toastie, she was told she would be charged for a full bowl which we said wasn’t a problem, I found a brush and shovel to clear the mud up when the young girl came over and said” here and I’ll get that for you doll”, she comes back ten minutes later she comes out with my mums food,a full bowl of soup and a toastie, chef said just eat what you can, we’ll that’s great chef but when we ask for half a bowl how about giving us half a bowl, firstly it’s a waste,secondly it’s not what she asked for and thirdly it’s annoying, she has tremors and her hands shake terribly so she doesn’t like it being so full incase she accidentally knocks it over, lots of people may ask for a small bowl for a child who they are trying to let the child feed themselves so when a customer asks for something perhaps just do what they ask. Was extremely happy to leave,must admit though that another member of stuff was just starting as we were leaving,older than the young girl and she was lovely,lovely smile on her face,just a shame we hadn’t been served by her. Looks like it could be a good place if you cleaned the place up a bit and changed your chefs attitude.

Had real homemade macaroni it was excellent and reasonably priced

A great Bar Restaurant. Highly recommend you try it for yourself. Fabulous food of the highest standard and drinks all at reasonable prices

Had a nice meal today the steak pie was fantastic well done to the chef. It has a nice vibe to it and the staff today were realy friendly and helpful. They brought my dogs water and gave them biscuits and interacted with them which they loved. Its a realy nice wee place. We will be back again

At a function on Saturday night, service at the bar wasn't great, at 1 time had 8 empty tumblers on the table between 4 people, and my partner had her carrier bag searched looking for drink....drinks very expensive when you can eventually get one.... wouldn't recommend it to anyone.

Had a lovely afternoon here. Was booked for a 70th birthday for 16 adults and 6 children. We were in the conservatory area. The food was ordered in advance and was lovely. Great relaxed atmosphere and service was good and very friendly. Would definitely recommend.

My wife & I visited the Chatelherault for a quick bite to eat & with me being a bit of a Steak Pie "connoisseur" went for, (surprisingly enough), the steak pie. My wife opted for some Pizza. The service was professional & the food arrived quickly. It was piping hot & on a "warmed" plate which is spot on. The steak pie was lovely, with great tasting steak pieces & gravy, plus the pastry was done just the way I like it, not to floppy & not to crumbly that it just bursts into a thousand pieces all off the plate, the steak & gravy was up there with some of the best I have had. My wife's pizza was very tasty too (yes I "sampled" a slice. Thoroughly enjoyed our meal & the welcome we received from the bar waitress & the pub owners. I certainly would recommend the Chatelherault to all. Lovely pub, great steak pie (Chatelherault Steak Pie Rating: 8 out of 10).

Popped in whilst travelling from Oban to Manchester,, with 2 kids and a dog!! Very friendly, great car park, menu was fab and the food was delish!! Veg lasagna is amazing!! And the biscoff cheesecake was a big hit with the kids!! Lovely restaurant, would def recommend!!

What a lovely friendly experience. Meal was freshly made to a high standard. Certainly the first of many, hopefully.

Great wee pub. The food is incredible the Chef should be proud of herself, atmosphere is incredible just the ideal pub to go and watch a game and enjoy a pint and relax very friendly and great for dogs too. Staff are incredibly friendly and overall just a fantastic wee pub

This is a great family run business. The food is delicious. We used it for a family gathering and everyone loved their starters, main course and desert. There is a mixture of pizza, pasta, traditional steak pie etc and Indian. Something to suit different tastes.

Nice venue to hold a children’s party. Friendly and helpful staff.

***WARNING BEFORE BOOKING FUNCTION ROOM *** If you have booked or going to book don't assume it's garenteed, we booked many weeks ago paid our deposit we were told everything was fine. We stopped in for dinner a few times checked with the girl it was in the diary , she checked infront of us we saw our name was the only one in it for our date. We had a meeting with the boss lady couple of weeks ago to discuss buffet dj etc, told again all will be fine. Now out of nowhere on Wednesday we got a call to say she had double booked 🤬 and they had been in at the weekend , so it took till the Wed to call us. She told my wife that they were locals and regulars, seems to us she took this as a better offer, she also tried to pass the blame to one of her staff not realising we saw the diary.We had specially made invites and a cake booked , she had the cheek to offer us the Friday, mybe she was thinking extra money 🤔. She didn't care one bit that with limited time we would struggle to get booked elsewhere. No apology when I collected our deposit refund, no offer of paying for ruined invites. Terrible attitude and very unprofessional, so be warned people it may happen to you too.

I'd heard good things before deciding to give it a good for an evening meal with the kids. Wasn't greeted with a smile or a welcome so initial impressions weren't the best. We had a nachos to share which was ok & though could have done with more toppings & only 4 jalapeño which I thought was a tad mean. Half way through the nachos came the kids chips & chicken nuggets. No beans or veg offered to go with it . However the kids seemed to enjoy it ,though for £5 id have expected a little better. A full 10 mins after the kids had finished their meal came mines. Why or why when ordering kids & adults meals do you not get them served together?? I opted for the lamb which was adequate,no more no less. Overall I left disappointed & wouldn't rush to go back

Had my partner 40th party there what a night the staff are very good at what thay do and can,t say enough about them nothing to big nothing to small thank you very much. So if your thinking off having a party I recommend this place thank ann

Macaroni is best I have had in a long time. Home made pizza looked delicious. Definitely recommend.

Food was amazing there was 13 of us everyone was delighted and the staff were so friendly they couldnt do enough for us I will definitely be going back

Got the Turkey and was disappointed, wasnt turkey . Processed turkey and tasted revolting . Potatoes and soup were nice . Dont get the turkey , place could do with a clean . Outdated

Nice wee place for some food after a walk round the park. Staff really friendly and gave us extra chips 😁.

Attended family wedding on 01/11/19 we had a meal first the the reception afterwards the food for both was delicious & the staff were brilliant looking after us. Salted caramel cheesecake was amazing

Nice food and service very good.

4 of us went for a meal and had no complaints about the food. Everything was really hot and delivered quickly. Waitress was really nice and helpful able to explain dishes straight away without having to go and ask . The one thing we all would have said was that sitting in the conservatory management need to get on top of the cleaning as the window sills and frame where we were sitting were filthy. Would hope this will be addressed as was a great meal and we will return

Staff are snobbish and all who enter are checked by manager incase they are commoners,offputing.

After a great trip to Chatelherault and the stunning surrounding forest we were looking forward to a nice drink in the local tourist bar. The Inn is ok but the theme is London , why. Toilets and Windows on our visit needed s good clean good cos standard pub fare in a flat roofed extension made up to look like a 1980s bar. . It's the only pub in the village and is ok as a local bar, which is all it is. A missed opportunity next time we will walk to the Applebank in nearby Larkhall.

Popped in last night for dinner, this is our local so ideal to be able to walk down in 5mins. The food is always excellent, I had the macaroni and my husband had the steak pie. Anne and Mark are always really welcoming and friendly, would highly recommend!

Came with my husband and 8month old daughter for lunch as we pass it all the time. Food was excellent, all fresh and home made. Service was great, very friendly attentive staff. Baby changing facilities were spacious and clean. The conservatory was nice and warm despite it being a cold day. Will defo be back. Great value for money!

Being very local in the village my husband I and bought tickets for the new year party night which was fabulous from start to finish. We were treated with the owner Mark and shown through to our seat. The decor was lovely and very welcoming. Must say the dj was fantastic in playing a great mixture of music to suit all. Food served was delicious and well worth the price paid. Great venue in our village and made to feel most welcome from Anne and Mark. Looking forward to maybe a quiz night or sitting outside in the summer months. Tribute nights also would be very welcome. Will return at new year again as really enjoyed it and would recommend to all. Anne and Bob Brady ❤❤

Just been for Luch and have to say it was fab, I had fish and chips and my Husband had the Macaroni and we both really enjoyed it, The owner came over and had a chat with us which was very nice,

Had my niece's Christening party here, lovely hall with great service and the buffet food was brilliant. Will definitely look at going back for any future functions

Had not been for a few months and definitely gone down hill. Place looked dirty, tables not cleared, no staff. Got order wrong, huffy face when we didn't accept the dish due to allergies and had to wait 35 minutes for a replacement by which time the rest had finished their meal. No discount offered or free drink. What should have been a quick lunch was an expensive afternoon looking out at the weather

Great place and very historical

Had hoped the meal was worth the hour plus long wait..... sadly this wasn't to be the case. Felt we went in for a late lunch but ended up having an early dinner. The reason given was poor. There didn't appear to be enough staff, food was nothing more than mediocre pub food which is priced at a restaurant lunch menu price. Overall very disaapointed. This was a visit never to be repeated.

Held my daughter Heather's 18th here and had a fab night. Would highly recommend.

Awful experience. The service was very slow. They said it was because they were busy but it really wasn't. Maybe they need to staff accordingly? We fought with wasps throughout our meal (eating inside). Food was average. Priced accordingly though.

We stopped here today on our way home after an overnight from a wedding and glad we did. We both enjoyed our lunch, top marks for the Lasagne, best i have tasted for a while. My partner had the macaroni and commented halfway through eating "its really cheesy, you don't get it like that often". Prices are good too. Owners Ann and Mark are doing a great job. We will definitely be back.

Nice interior. Large car park. Food is good but servings small so if your very hungry go elsewhere. Service a bit slow but nice place to chill and chat in.

Slow service ..not enough staff ..beer off..only lager .. no rose zinfandel ..long wait for food .. Car d machine doesn't work in evening ??..bored now waiting for the sweet so far 19 mins ...so writing this review while I wait to see if my caramel apple pie is ever going to appear...???

Lovely meal, great company, wonderful hosts

Good quality food, and prices are fair. This place DOES ACCEPT DOGS and this was a contributing factor to our coming here. Overall a very nice place with nice food, waiters and layout.

Have visited a few times. Delicious food (especially Piri Piri chicken) very friendly, worth a visit!

My first impressions were that the premises had really smartened up. However, the only other table occupied in the lounge area had 4 men at it, one of whom had his feet up on a bar stool. They left not long after we arrived. At that point we were the only customers.

Since we've got the wee dog I always look for places local that we can all go to. Google showed the Chatelherault Inn as being dog friendly so we decided to give it a try. We hadn't book but went in and asked if we could eat with the dog which we could in the bar area. Warm welcome and staff where very nice. It was around Burns day when we went and although no haggis on the menu I seen online it was available all weekend I asked about this and it wasn't an issue. The food was lovely and greatly priced. We got the dog a chicken breast in gravy this was served in a tupperware dish she loved it. Glad we gave this place a try will def go back and would recommend others try it.

Since Anne and Mark have taken over the place has been given a new lease of life. Good home made food reasonable priced. Anne and Mark make you feel very welcome and take time out to chat to their customers and get any feed back good or bad so that they can continue to improve. Definitely one to try

Five of us returned to Chatelherault Inn since it changed hands recently and were pleasantly surprised by the cosy ambience of the pub/restaurant. The muzak added to the atmosphere without drowning us out as it can do in some places, the service by Ann was warm and friendly and the food delicious especially the chicken, all at reasonable prices. Will definitely go back and would recommend this Inn.

We have found a lovely little Inn run by a lovely couple Ann & Mark we had been out shopping and had been heading home when we decided to have a spot of lunch as we drove along we spotted the Chatelherault Inn was open so we headed in once inside the surroundings were lovely we ordered food and drinks the couple were very attentive and food was fantastic and may I say very reasonably priced needless to say we will definately be back even if only for coffee and a chat to the lovely staff.
