Charlie's Deli in Crawley

Had seen good reviews so went on a Saturday for breakfast, but opening times on website are wrong so we didn't get to eat, though menu boards were out and doors were open.

I hate to write bad reviews but food and service awful . The guy behind counter was nice and the coffee that's about it . I ordered cheeseburger and chips which consisted of a toasted bun open , a dry burntish burger , a slither of onion and the smaller lettuce leaf... no sauce no garnish no offer of tomato sauce not even cutlery... my husbands was the worst he ordered chilli dog and chips ... he got a plate of chilli slop cold poured over a soggy bun with 1 normal sausage that I saw was microwaved.... nearly £20 .... I wish I took a photo it was that appalling !

Full English Breakfast, don’t bother mediocre at best!!Overcooked bacon warm beans and what was that mushroom taste? Nearly £11 including coffee which was warm too.

Went in a group. Friend has a dairy allergy, when staff were told they refused to serve him at all, and we’re unfriendly. Will not be returning. Ps it’s also pricey.

We were informed that due to business policy we couldn't share a breakfast (have a second plate). "We are a business and need to make money". Took our £20 a few doors down to the Gatwick Pop in where they were pleasant and totally accommodating!

This is another establishment that I have reviewed before, rating it as average. Sadly since my last review in 2022 nothing appears to have changed, in fact it has gone downhill. The food, (a simple bacon sandwich) was greasy, overcooked, plain and in short awful. No butter, no garnish, basic roll, no sauces offered and on a plate covered in grease. The coffee was drinkable and hot, but again not the best. At £3:92 it should be a lot better. I fully agree with the previous review that the prices are way too high for the quality of food presented. £7:91 for a roll, two slices of bacon and a coffee is going some. It still looks shabby, still needs a lick of paint and outside definitely needs looking at by the owners. This may explain why at 08:00 on a busy week day the place was virtually empty. Not rated as terrible as the staff were polite and friendly. My advice, go elsewhere.

£4.80 for a takeaway cappuccino. (£1.23 extra for soya milk instead of regular milk). Terrible value, won't visit again.

Stumbled across this cafe so glad we did. Excellent coffee, really enjoyed it. Good choice and great value. Pity we don't live locally we'd be regular visitors.

Quick friendly service, not the first time I've been here & won't be the last. Coffee & food was delicious & good value.There is a large menu displayed with something for everyone. Premises are clean & despite other reviews saying about a lack of restroom, there is a toilet available if you ask. The seating areas are well laid out & outdoor seating too if preferred.

Lovely little cafe . Great value for money. Friendly girls . Would highly recommend. Very busy so sat outside people watching which was good too . Thank you I be back

Dirty floors and tables . Rude kitchen staff and very average quality food . Spoke to a man called David who said he was the manager and as soon as I tried to complain he said he had to go but would come back to finish conversation but never did . Will not ever return.

Food good, but no rest rooms for customers. Evidence of bullying against staff member and very rude chef.

Great brekkie location , especially pre flight , much better than airport or hotel choices. Their food is good , well prepared and presented , the service is good as well and it is much cheaper than the alternatives above. Nuff said

Very friendly and helpful staff made us feel immediately welcome, even though it took us a while to decide our choice of food from the extensive menu. I decided to go for the Mexican Beef Chilli Burrito and my wife had the Coronation Chicken and salad baguette. We had two coffees and two teas respectively. Overall a great experience in this busy diner, and we will definitely return when next in the area.

Popped in the other day for a breakfast, although they were short staffed, the 2 guys did a Sterling job. I opted for a “Charlie’s” full breakfast, absolutely brilliant, couldn’t fault it. At £7.99 a total bargain.

Found it on the off chance while looking for breakfast. What a nice find . It was laid out nicely all the food looked fresh and well presented. The food was good , the service pleasant and price reasonable. Will use again

Ordered a breakfast ! They give you a little sachet of sauce along with your coffee, table number and cutlery to lug to the table ! Coffee ok but the breakfast was poor ! There not even salt and pepper on the tables !

You can't change ANYTHING on a set menu, not even to remove chillies from a breakfast if you're allergic! Okay, so that aside, one of the servers was nice and friendly, the other not so much. 6/10 for the vegetarian breakfast. 7/10 for the Smoky...

We have passed many times but never visited. We popped in and was pleasantly surprised. The menu is extensive. Not your regular breakfast a burgers. We had a great lunch of a cob and Ceaser salad which was lovely. There was a lot of dressing...

Visited on a Sunday as we didn't fancy a big Sunday pub lunch. So glad we did as it was lovely. The staff were really friendly and knowledgeable. Excellent value for money and nice decor. We will be back to try more very soon!

Popped in here for breakfast and was not disappointed! Had the sausage, bacon and egg sandwich in white bloomer with a lovely cup of tea. Really excellent and totally recommended. Will be going back soon hopefully!

Seeking refuge from the cold and rain while waiting for my motorbike to be serviced, I came into Charlie’s for hot coffee and breakfast. And what a lovely breakfast it was, too - a Full Monty with eggs, bacon, sausage, black pudding, beans, hash brown,...

Thoroughly enjoyed our full monty breakfast! Everything was cooked to perfection and was hot! Staff were friendly and welcoming, will be back for sure👍.

I used to come here regularly with work colleagues for lunch & just popped in for cuppa and lite bite. The food was great, tea was the best I’ve had in long time in a cafe, and the staff so friendly and helpful. Well done...

Wh we never visited this place before???! I had the best burger of my life AT This Deli! Please try the Halloumi and Avocado burger 🍔 and you will never forget it ever after!!!! Bravo to the chef!!!

Always come here for weekend brekkie/brunch/lunch after the gym. The chicken burrito is to die for and the staff are amazing and friendly. Really clean cosy cafe!

Popped in for late lunch. Mrs ordered a Full English Breakfast, I went for the burger with cheese and bacon, with chips, and we each had a Mocha. Came in at £21, which was about normal for what we ordered. We sat outside in the sun, accompanied by a seagull at 15 feet watching us closely. Inside and outside everything appeared to be clean. Service was friendly. Food & drink? Well, personally, I found the burger to be really good. Not proper gourmet burger standard but excellent for a cafe. Chips were not greasy, and quite nice. Mochas were a decent 4 stars. Disappointment was my wife's FEB. Egg was fried into distinction, mushrooms and bacon appeared re-heated (we were there around 2:15pm), beans were seemingly cheap ones unfortunately (you should never skip on the beans), hash brown very greasy. Sausage was good. All in all, the Mrs made the breakfast a 1 star. Just me and I'd have gone for a solid 4, but my wife's disappointing meal brings it down to a 3.

Such good food. It's our regular lunch break now. The stuff are cool great sense of humour . Highly recommend

Being coming to CD's for over three years. Always made to feel weclome by David, Louise and the team. Tasty food and good coffee, the 'recipe' seem to be working as it's getting busier and busier. Long may it continue!

Every time I come in and the staff make coffee it’s wrong, your standard coffee they put the shot in and just keep pressing the buttons on the coffee machine, just filling the cup up with used coffee water, gross! The foods okay presentation could be better and you ask the price of something in one of the jars and it’s like a mission for them to remember because they can’t put it through the till to check the price? They told me a couple pound for something and was way off, some of the staff are very loud and the rat I saw on the way in was a lovely touch! It’s a shame used to really like it here

Such a waste of potential here. Its big, light not bad looking place but there is where the positive comments have to end.The service has been getting worse over he past year but now the food has got very average and the prices have got higher.On my last visit i asked if i could swap something from the fixed menu and was told a firm no. I could remove something if I wanted but I could not add something in its place.Very unhelpful staff and only average food.There are far better places to go.

I've stopped here for lunch a few times now. Each time, I've been welcomed with a cheerful smile and a broad spread of fresh food options. The portions sizes are perfect, and the restaurant is clean (especially the loos which are immaculate!). The volume can get a little high at peak times, but the prices offer excellent value for money, especially if you're on a budget, and without the high-street-chain over-inflation. Will definitely be returning!

Brought my daughter here for the first time on Sunday 19th January 2020.Lady serving was so loud and very inattentive to us as customers, ordered Full English Breakfast without mushrooms (due to allergy), pancakes with Bacon & Maple Syrup, cup of tea and a Latte with Soya Milk (again due to an allergy).In the middle of taking our order she walked away to make the coffee and started shouting at staff in the kitchen to hurry up even thought they were all busy. Came back to the roll and finished putting the order through which came to £18.70. My daughter asked why we had been charged for a shot of syrup when she ordered a latte, apparently it was for the Soya milk even though we were not told about it.Breakfast arrived with Mushrooms on it which meant I could not eat the food so just ate the cold toast.All the time we were there I could hear the woman who I assume was the manager shouting at the staff hurry up and bring her saucers !Daughter couldn’t drink the Latte either as it had a foul taste.Very expensive breakfast that couldn’t be drunk or eaten and will certainly never be going back

I have eaten few time before and always enjoyed service and food BUTAs I ordered my food "young"girl found taking orders a chore..as I alter my choice food i got the 'I'm a pain in the arse look!'!! I was not happy £1.29 for the 1 and only slice of bacon(bacon beans chips,look like kids potions)had to hash brown on the order but I didn't order it?? Their busy so just gave my friend as he had kids looking meal..they forgotten my black pudding,but replaced after..other didn't get his toast and cold tea...I told quietly a member of staff...REPLY FROM HER...3 time said I can only say sorry and gave me WAIT FOR IT!!!£1 for missing toast... fuming

Took my family here for breakfast. I have been coming here on and off for some years and always felt it to be a great little venue with friendly attentive staff....how things have changed! Personally i would not come here again. The staff were dis-interested unproffessional and probably had a combined age of 15! Really poor service. Food is now distinctly average and quite expensive for what it is. The one lady who appears to be in charge was pretty brash as well...told me that the reason they can't supply ketchup in a bottle is "cos everyone Knicks em"

My son and I have been frequent visitors to Charlie's Deli for years. Louise makes everyone feel very welcome and nothings too much trouble. I love the Charlie's breakfast whlist my son is a fan of the beefburger and chips. A good choice of various dishes in comfortable surroundings.

I have visited Charlies Deli at the weekend for the past thee years. Louise is extremely welcoming and makes each visit special. David cooks good food especially a tasty breakfast.

Ordered a Flat White. I was handed a huge cup full up to the top and when I questioned, was told they make it differently - one shot only but lots of water (gestured about half the cup) and the rest milk. I pointed out that should be double shot Expresso and 2/3 milk compared to Late and that they can’t call it a flat white and change the way that it’s is made. In the end I was apparently wrong and had a disgusting watery late of sorts. I won’t be going back.

I visited Charlie deli today with my son. A flying visit.. not to busy so ordered 2 bacon and eggs baguettes which we intended to eat in and the leave quickly... the service was very slow and after nearly 15 mins we had to change our order to go. After just over 20 mins we had our 2 baguettes which just looked thrown into a bag. The eggs in both had fallen out of the baguette which made a mess. No paper towels provided so although the bacon and baguettes got eaten the eggs just remained a sticky mess which made the bag wet and contents dropped through onto the car seat.

Absolutely terrible customer service with attitude...food preparation on dirty surface eg. Meat and fruit with no hygiene in mind. Baguette food was prepped and banged about with stroppy service and no consideration to customer. I was sick after taking one bite! Avoid this place. Go next door instead to Subway. Miles better food and miles better customer service.

I have never done one of these before but i just had to. i went to this cafe as i had my bike in for a service at p & h, I have a white coffee and i also had eggs Benedict, it was one of the best i have had and the coffee was just right.And what a welcome they gave me. i have (hopeful) up loaded a photo

Nice surroundings, great front of house staff. Decent breakfast. It is much better than anything else around this area for breakfast and it won't break the bank. You can park right outside too.

Finally got around to trying this place out for lunch. They have a lot of vegetarian options which is good.

I have been to Charlies deli a number of times so i thought i would write something this time. the coffee is the best coffee i have had and a very good price. i always have the charlies deli breakfast which i dont always finish as it is big, very good price. tried the other cafe down the road (cant remember the name) but they are a rip off and food is rubbish, thank you for your time.

Been in a couple of times for lunch before. Place is pleasant enough. Food is little pricey for average tasting and size of portion. Today I ordered a coffee with soya milk and was charged over a £1.35 for a dash of soya milk on top of the price of the £2.50 coffee!! When I questioned why milk was so much, the answer was quite abrupt and was told its expensive to buy... I pay £1.50 a litre in supermarkets. I thought it was a rip off so asked for a black coffee instead as wasn't prepared to pay that much for a little bit of milk, the coffee was then pulled away from me abruptly and the staff member announced he would drink it instead. Not that I was asking for a cheaper coffee but I thought the way they dealt with it was unprofessional. I won't vist there again. I will be giving my business to the really good Pop inn cafe up the road where I won't be ripped off with a small amount of milk and the service is given with a true smile and friendliness

Can’t go wrong we thought. It was a quick stop and the cup of tea and cake was worth it. Millionaires shortbread Victoria sandwich coffee and walnut cake. Tables inside needed a good clean and the picnic benches outside are rather old and sloping down, so not even ideal for a quick cuppa. If we’d had more time we might have tried the jacket potatoes with great fillings

Gone down hill. Food not freshly cooked and the portions have shrunk. Had the full English bacon was re heated as was the sausage. The tomatoes were not close to cooked. Used to enjoy it there, now won’t go back

Dropped in for a late breakfast whilst bike was being repaired. Service was ultra quick and friendly and food was just what I hoped for. Excellent value.

Was recommended the Breakfast special , unfortunately the meat sections were overwhelming reheated by microwave . Bacon and sausage very tough . Only one cook so can see why short cuts are made at busy times. Shame , but will now stick to other venues

Just had a quick breakfast at Charlie’s with the Famliy and had an outstanding cappuccino made by David. (Ensure you ask him to make it). Also had the Elvis toasted sandwich with bacon, banana and peanut butter. Also very good. Great work keep it up.

Amazing food and service - I was served by David who was friendly and went out of his way to make sure everything was perfect. Would highly recommend and would visit again.

A good salad with fresh avacado and chicken. I sometimes get breakfast or a sandwich. Staff are nice as ous ambience. Not the cheapest but quality is slightly above average.

Visited this place a lot over the last couple of years, we stopped coming as the staff seemed clueless and the food wasn’t as good as we’d previously known it to be, however we returned here about 6 weeks ago, the place had been spruced up, there is a new team in place, who actually look like they enjoy their work instead of being greated with a grunt. Food great. Have been here weekly since - always spot on.

Took my daughter here for a quick lunch on our way to get my car checked out at a local specialist. Used to work nearby and ofter got one of Charlie's great sandwiches for lunch, so thought my daughter might enjoy it.

Second time I’ve been here, both visits have been great. Full breakfast first time, bacon sandwich this time. Good quality ingredients, hot and brought to our table quickly. Coffee is to a good standard too

I dined here two weeks ago so thought it was time to put my review in.

Placed a big order over the phone. They managed to get half the order wrong. Contacted the manager not interested in the slightest. How did they manage to get it so wrong absolutely useless. Never going back. Much better places around. Dolphin is amazing.

Stop at this place sometime and order a take away sandwich, service always good, they seem to have a turn over of staff but they do make and effort especially if you smile. Chicken and avocado always pretty good.

Basically somewhere to get breakfast or lunch for workers in the Manor Royal area. It's a cafe not a deli, I believe my breakfast was pre-cooked and heated in a microwave oven or other catering device. It was OK - at best average - don't think there is much alternatives in the area.

Lady taking the orders was rude, food was awful, toast was like rocks! Eggs not cooked properly! Beans look and taste like they been sitting out for ages! Ordered a milkshake which they never made until we were leaving after being asked about it! Pancake still charged at full price even though they had no stock to make whats advertised. Out came a pile of pankcakes with just a mound of chocolate instead. Worst £30 I ever spent! Inside could do with a makeover also! Won’t return here or recommend it!

Seriously good bacon, really meaty and not full of saline. Perfectly cooked runny egg and nice fresh bread. Lovely. One of the few places open at 08:00 on a Sunday as well.

The most average, expensive breakfast I've ever had . A diet coke can 1.85 four pieces of toast 3.60 an extra one tomatoe at the cost of 1.00 really slow service,the tables dirty and sticky . I'm amazed that people think this place is good

The staff are always very friendly and welcoming. Food is brilliant whether you eat in or take away and service is very fast with good value for money. Would thoroughly recommend!

This was my first visit here. i had gone to p & H to get new items for my bike and saw this cafe on my way home and stopped for some lunch, i had the cajun burger and a milk shake. it was one of the best cafe i have been too, staff where very helpful as i didn't know what to have. the food came out and it was so tasty, thank you charlies for a great meal will be back

We had Charlie’s breakfast. hash browns, bacon and sausages all overcooked, must have a mushroom shortage too!!! Some of the staff were lovely and friendly but the chef decided to shout at one and the customers could hear, poor girl!! It was snowing outside and the temperature was only just hitting zero when one of the members of staff opened the door, we were eating our breakfast and it was freezing so I asked another member of staff to shut the door and they obliged only for the young girl with attitude to come back out again to open it, I asked her to leave it shut, with that I got the eyes rolled at me. She then got another member of staff to open it. No regards to the paying customer, would never step foot in this place again.. oh and no toilets for the customers to use!!!

Sunday morning.We had been looking at ceramic tiles virtually next door.

I have been here several times for the breakfast, sometimes after a few beverages the night before and craving a good fry-up. The menu is vast and I wish I had sampled it more but the breakfast is the one to go for. The staff are friendly and efficient and the breakfasts are big (I haven't been able to finish one yet) and well- cooked. Thank you Charlie's.

I first are here about a year ago. I found myself back in Crawley so I decided to see if it was still as I remembered it.

Did eat here and had the full english breakfast egg slightly overcooked bacon was slightly overdone. On a experiance would not return any time soon

Found by chance, whilst waiting to pick up family from Gatwick. Extremely friendly and great service! 100% recommend for breakfast, bacon sandwiches filled with thick bacon, good options for hot drinks. They do smoked salmon and Eggs Benedict too.

I have just had the best Eggs Benedict I have ever had. This is my first visit but I will definitely be back. Amazing selection for breakfast and lunch choices look delicious. Super friendly and attentive staff. What a find!!

The staff are hard working and good sense of customer satisfaction. If there is any criticism, I would say the price does seem a little high.
