Charlie's Coffee and Company in St Albans

Lovely staff, speciality coffee, and an array of treats (of which some are gluten free, vegan, or vegetarian) make this a welcome café in St Albans! There isn't much indoor seating, but a patio makes for a great place for a catchup with friends, family, or loved ones (including yourself). My recommendation? If it's a hot day, try their cold brew and flapjacks. They're fantastic, and you'll thank me later.

Good coffee but limited seating and no loo's

My Oat milk latte from Charlie’s was fantastic. Worth the walk out of town!! A must visit if you like your coffee.

The BEST coffee - by a long way. The coffee is truly amazing and the staff are always very friendly. There are also lots of other lovely foods and drinks, all carefully selected. The coffee comes from Stephen Leighton's "Has Bean" which is famous for sourcing delicious and ethical coffee direct from the best farms around the world. I love getting freshly roasted coffee beans perfectly ground here for making coffee at home. Also love the new yellow tables and chairs out the front.

This shop came highly recommended by a friend who used to work here. Not all recommendations meet the standards but this definitely does! The coffee both cold brew & latte were delicious. My mate got an affogato which he said was restaurant standard and the banana loaf I got to take out was also lovely. Jade who served me was amazing and provided so many helpful recommendations and was a great conversationalist. Charlie’s serve exceptional coffee with exceptional service. Can’t wait to be back in this cute town of St Albans and when I do I’ll be sure to pop into Charlie’s

Every time I'm in St Albans I have to go to Charlie's, the coffee is best in town! The service and friendliness of every staff member each time I have gone is exceptional.

Cute little coffee shop in St Albans, which serves brilliant speciality coffee. We had ordered mocha, americano and cappuccino, all the three drinks were made to perfection. Absolutely loved their house blend. We also tried croissant and the chocolate rye cookie, the cookie was one of the best we have ever had. Also, kudos to the staff who were full of warmth.

Charlie’s is such a little st.albans gem. The coffee is brilliant, and the additional snack options are super tasty. Also I love the merch and interesting products Charlie’s offers. Always such a go to when I visit st.Albans. Highly recommend a look and so conveniently placed near the station.

Nice enough coffee but actually the van at the station does better ones! Also, £3.90 for a croissant is....well.... expensive to say the least!

Literally THE coolest little coffee shop with the BEST coffee, treats and staff! Would make it a must if you’re in the area and need a coffee hit!

I first discovered Charlie’s coffee through the van outside St Albans station. It is without doubt the best coffee I have ever had. So smooth and creamy but also the perfect amount of strength. I tried the coffee shop on London road today and once again it was incredible. I didn’t know coffee could be so good!

I had a falafel bagel and it was so yummy! The highlight was the thick cut and super crunchy pink pickled onions, best I've ever had! I wouldn't say it was really falafel, seemed more like deconstructed sweet potato and chickpeas but I actually preferred that. Would definitely recommend for a yummy sandwich

I love Charlie’s! It’s my go to for an iced choc and chocolate swirl. Staff are always smiley and friendly and the shop front looks beautiful. Would highly recommend if your in the area, so much nicer and fresher than chain coffee shops.

It is one of the better coffee places in town. It is light roast kinda specialty coffee. They also sell croissants and bagels and a few other treats which are good quality. You can sit outside, it is sunny from the morning if it is a clear day. The downside is that it is on the main road which is noisy and there is no indoors when it rains. Never seen the latte Art as in the photo. I should ask maybe next time.

I use to go to this small cafe during my lunch break as I’m working from home, the coffee and the hot chocolate are really nice! Personally for me the coffee is a little bit strong but I like to put sugar on it. Staff is really friendly and always giving conversation when you’re waiting for your coffee.

Genuinely the best coffee in St. Albans; likely the best in Hertfordshire; and probably the best in the UK. Charlie's coffee is so good that I've had to supplement my addiction by buying their ground coffee to use at home (it works really well with a Chemex)! Honestly, I can't speak highly enough of this place. I've just spent the weekend in Italy with my partner and I haven't found a coffee as good as Charlie's. I have even forced all my friends to come to Charlie's and they all agree; even those that don't *love* coffee love it here. I could talk about how good their coffee is all day, but that isn't all that makes this shop amazing. The staff are always very friendly, and the toasted banana bread is incredible. If you live in St Albans, this place should be your coffee spot; and if you're just passing through, this place should be the top of your list

Loved this little cafe, coffee was great. I had a Cortado and my partner a flat white. Staff were friendly. No toilets, but you can pop next door if you are a customer which is great. Outside seating too. Thanks guys we will certainly visit again on our next visit to St Albans.
