Charcoal Grill Steak House in Great Yarmouth

Visited for the first time as it's was my Dad's birthday and he really wanted a steak dinner so we decided to try here. Did not regret that decision! Honestly gutted its taken us 12 years living here to find this restaurant!! Firstly, nice variety menu with lots of options. Secondly, the staff were wonderful! Very kind and polite and attentive, without being suffocating. Nothing felt like too much trouble and while we were there some other guests arrived who were clearly regulars and treated like old friends! That being said, we weren't made to feel like outsiders or anything and received just as warm a welcome 😊 everyone was kind and happy and the owner even came out to meet us and ask how the food was. So, thirdly- the food. Perfectly cooked and decent portion size. Steak was absolutely cooked to perfection and accompanying chips and salad were lovely. I had the ham, egg and chips and was very happy. Nice ham slices and egg was runny and perfect. Other details: Lovely atmosphere inside, cosy with lots of decorations on the wall and background music which added to the ambience without being loud and distracting. Toilets were clean, a decent size. These are down a few stairs- however I noted the waiter assisting another customer who was slightly less mobile to navigate these which was nice. He then also assisted with carrying their folded wheelchair down the external steps when it was time for them to leave. Just something to be aware of if visiting and stairs can cause you trouble. The restaurant itself was clean and tidy, the tables were cleaned thoroughly after each customer left. Honestly very impressed and happy with the experience and my dad had a lovely birthday meal 😊 Pricing- it's not the cheapest on the seafront but you definitely get what you pay for and with the quality of food and service I think they're reasonably priced. Would recommend and we definitely intend to come again in the future!

Amazing staff, great food, highly recommend

The dishes were undercooked and the prices were high. The girl who served us was very friendly. The owner was very insistent and unpleasant. There was no music. We didn't like the atmosphere. I don't recommend it.

Nice food, went here on Monday evening. My fiancé had the large mixed grill, he said it was yummy, but it had kidney on it which he would have got swapped if they had the description of the dish on the menu! I had a salad, which was good but £4 for 2 extra slices of ham was a bit much! Will dine here again though

Absolutely fantastic experience and incredibly delicious food! More than highly recommend, whether you’re nearby or just wanting to travel for a fantastic steak. We called ahead to ask what time they served until, staff were incredibly kind and communicative. We arrived and were met with warmth and enthusiasm. Even though we arrived on the cusp of last orders, our server was incredibly patient with us and never made us feel rushed or like an inconvenience. He was very knowledgeable about the menu and answered all our questions with ease. We both ordered the rib-eye steak medium rare. Steak sauces are extra, but for the price, you receive an entire gravy boat of sauce which is absolutely delicious and super generous. Our steaks were cooked to perfection and beautifully flavourful. We enjoyed them so much more than chain competitors and even other more mainstream steakhouses. We will absolutely come back again, thank you for such a wonderful rare and amazing experience. I would give 100 stars if I could! x

Had a lovely birthday celebration meal with family and friends on 17th March. Andrew greeted us all in his usual welcoming way. Such a lovely man. The staff are always very friendly too. We all had delicious Starters and Mains. Cooked to perfection by the kitchen staff. Andrew always checking we were all OK. Can thoroughly recommend Charcoal Grill Steak House. You will not be disappointed with your meal, and the service offered by Andrew. We will be back again soon Andrew.

Best steak I have ever had. Cooked to perfection. Cut, chewed and tasted amazing.

My partner and I wandered in to Charcoal Grill on the off chance a few months back after walking out of another restaurant and were blown away by the service and food. We booked to come back again last night, the place didn't stop, customers in and out all night, it was so busy, this didn't stop the same level of service, hospitality and amazing food we had previously, despite how busy they were, such a friendly relaxed atmosphere too. You almost feel like you're family visiting relatives. Highly recommend the Scallops and Steak which were cooked to perfection and a proper Sherry Trifle too! Thank you for a lovely evening. We will certainly be back.

Very nice restaurant, very cozy and well decorated. Service is brilliant. Everyone is very nice. Food also fantastic, I tried fish and chips and grilled seafoods, both fresh and well cooked!

Disappointing for the Price We had high expectations given the price (£30 each for two steak dinners), but unfortunately, it didn’t quite live up to them. While the steaks themselves were cooked well and tasted good, the sides were a real letdown. The vegetables—tinned mushrooms and peas—felt like an afterthought. At this price point, fresh vegetables should be a given. That said, the service was excellent, with friendly and attentive staff. If they improved the quality of the sides to match the main dish, it would be a much better experience.

Nice food cosy environment but very very expensive

I cannot rate this place, food, staff or service highly enough. The steak was the best I’ve EVER had. Chips, sauce and salad too. The staff were more than delightful. The ambiance was amazing. It’s my new favourite place and I would recommend it to anyone! Thank you guys xxxx

Lovely people, beautiful fish n chips.

Outstanding service. Very good food. Owner cooked our steaks. Checked on us and shook our hands as we left. The waitresses helped my mum through the door as she was on crutches and then offered to walk her back to the car. Highly recommended especially if you are after a decent steak.

We have been in the UK for a week this was the best meal we have had here so far. The staff was very pleasant and the Owner was so friendly. I highly recommend the charcoal grill if you want a great meal for a reasonable price. Thank you!

Highly recommend this restaurant. Visited here during a day trip whilst holiday-ing on the Norfolk Broads. Friendly, polite staff who made my dad, my husband and I feel very welcome. Clean restaurant with good background music. We all had large cod and chips - the food was superb! Cooked to perfection, not greasy. If visiting Great Yarmouth again we will definitely be eating her. What a fantastic find this was! We were staying in Great Yarmouth overnight and were looking for somewhere for a good meal. This is perfect! Andrew (the owner) was the perfect host as was all his staff. They were so friendly and the food is out of this world! It was so relaxed and was like we had gone to a friends place for somewhere to eat. This is a must for world class food and hospitality!

From the moment we walked in we were made to feel welcome. the food was served hot and taisted fantastic. minestrone soup. followed by a large rump steak came as I ordered. we will be back for sure and would recommend it.

We turned up without booking a table and we were told they could accommodate us and could wait for about 10 mins. We were showed to our table and ordered drinks. The menu is very varied with lots to choose from. I ordered rib eye steak and hubby ordered t-bone steak. Had to wait a while but when it came, omg was absolutely amazing. Very tasty and the chips are lovely. We will definitely be going there again next time in Great Yarmouth and will book a table in advance. The staff were lovely.

This place was excellent in all aspects. We went there unplanned and they were kind enough to accommodate us, as reservations are the norm. Very kind staff and the food is excellent. We were even treated with complimentary shots!! Would definitely recommend this place if you are visiting Great Yarmouth!

Great Restaurant It's a relatively old restaurant. But it's not a problem at all. It has survived so long it means it's quite competitive locally in my opinion. The environment is cosy and rustic but well cleaned. It provides extra seats for the table for two customers to put their stuff. Tables are not too close to each other that make every customer have more personal space. The menu is massive. It took us a while to make decisions. The food was in generous size. The lamb fell off the bone, very tender. It was enough for a male adult. The rice was well flavoured, I think it was cooked with broth. The seafood was well cooked. The chips were generous amount and hot. The staff are nice and helpful. Looking forward to the next visit.

Went there this evening as an end to our holiday with our 3 children. Booked for 6.30pm but turned up early and was welcomed warmly to our table. Food was exquicit and service was wonderful, we had the loveliest Greek waitress who went above and beyond to make sure we were attended to even thoigh restaurant was full. Lovely touch when the owner came to out table to welcome us and check all was okay, really wished we lived closer as I would come here all the time! Would recommend to anyone. Thank you to all that looked after us so well and to the amazing chef for the lovely food.

This establishment is very small, Service is okay: ish, there not background music so everyone can hear your conversation, vice versa, I ordered a mixed grill, (! ) It was different and at £21 expensive, liver was the size of your little finger, gammon was a slice of back bacon, pork chop was a chop no pork and the beef, you get more beef on a Big Mac, the chips look & tasted like they nip next door & got them from chippy, drink,, now this is just a insult, bottle of Stella, that’s 1/2 pint, £5 (I’m at great Yarmouth, not the Ritz,) think this place needs a visit from Gordon Ramsay,,

Arrived just after 6 pm without a booking but was still given a table, which is nice. There are lots of options on the menu, including a kids menu. Prices were slightly expensive but well worth it. I had a gammon steak - perfectly cooked and full of flavour. Definitely returning when I have the chance!

Thank-you for the best Fish and Chips. My friend and I came in on Monday night and really enjoyed are meal we were only staying for one night and all we wanted was Fish and chips for dinner. Lovely staff and service. Will be back next time we're in Great Yarmouth.🙂

It's alright, staff are great 👍 We looked at a number of restaurants along the seafront, and this one had people in where the others didn't, so that swung it for us. Admittedly, I was at first concerned that it wasn't going to be good. The prices are a little high, and the menu has a lot of choice which made me think perhaps they can't do any one meal good. BUT, I orderd the small mixed grill, I don't like liver so asked to leave that off and was instantly offerd a replacement, excellent! the mixed grill was very good and tasty to be fair the sausages weren't the best for the price I'd expect a better sausage and the mushrooms prehaps where tinned still OK though, the chips were amazing overall it was a very enjoyable meal. Honestly, the chips were absolutely brilliant, I'd say hand cut, crispy, light, and fluffy. We also had shepherd's pie and veg, a lasagne and chips and a child's fish finger and chips all again very good. The restaurant was clean the toilets were very clean and the staff were brilliant. Main observation I didn't like was the coffee was really small, and the other drinks were fairly high priced for the size 3 adults and one child just under £60 Would I return, Yes.

Visited this restaurant 10 years ago and it was good then. This is a very unassuming place. It may not look that fantastic but it is - because it is so well used and loved by all. Lots of varied dishes on the menu. Just for a change we had a roast dinner. Gosh, it was just like a homemade Sunday lunch. Prices very reasonable indeed. Try and get in early if you can but you have to book ahead in high season. It is a gem.

Soooo good! I had a delicious t-bone steak with the most divine peppercorn sauce. Really enjoyed it. The restaurant itself was uncomfortably hot when we went but it was packed! As it emptied out the temperature got much more bearable. Recommend if you're a steak lover

I seriously suspected that the staff at the restaurant was racist, very unfriendly to us, frequently asking if we were finished(not kindly) as if they wanted to drive us away, and treated other customers very differently. It really sucks😤

Such amazing food staff friendly lively atmosphere

Food was very bland and lacked any kind of flavour despite being one of the "specialties", best part was the salad. Atmosphere was quite strange. Service was okay but the prices were very high for what most people could make at home in 10 minutes.

There's a weird vibe with the staff & Owner. It feels like the staff are scared to stand still or not to be doing anything for a second. Staff not trusted to take money so was left waiting for the owner to be available to take a card payment he also recalculated the bill to check they added it up correctly. It was all just to much made you feel uncomfortable. Which is such a shame as the staff was so friendly.

My recent visit to Charcoal Grill in Great Yarmouth left much to be desired. Despite its promising location near the seaside, the experience fell short on multiple fronts. Firstly, the wait time was excessive. We waited for nearly 30 minutes before our dishes finally made it to our table. This prolonged wait only added to our anticipation, making the eventual disappointment all the more palpable. When the food did arrive, it failed to impress. Both the fish and chips and the grilled king prawn lacked flavor and freshness, leaving us underwhelmed. Considering the quality, the prices seemed unjustifiably high. We ended up spending close to £50 for two dishes that simply did not meet our expectations in taste or value. Adding to the disappointment was the unprofessional demeanor of the waitress. Despite our presence, she seemed indifferent and even rude, leaving us feeling unwelcome and unattended. In summary, my experience at Charcoal Grill was far from satisfactory. The combination of long wait times, lackluster food quality, inflated prices, and poor service makes it a place I would strongly advise others to avoid. There are surely better dining options available in the area that offer a more enjoyable and worthwhile experience.

We had lunch at the Charcoal Grill and Steakhouse in Yarmouth yesterday (opposite Joyland). The service was excellent. It was spotlessly clean inside. There is a huge menu to choose from. My grandaughter is 7 and she received a lot of lovely attention, meeting her needs. Our food was excellent - I thought my grandaughter might eat the plate! My brother really enjoyed pork chops and I had steak diane - both meals were hot and very tasty. Did not have to wait too long for the food. Would go there again and thoroughly recomend it to anyone visiting Yarmouth. Very pleasant staff. A really lovely lunch.

Asked if we booked and told us to move seats as theyl b busy, no one sat in our original place where we sat and no more than 6 people were in the restaurant all the time we were there. Ordered desert only we were asked did we want a meal we said no just desert is that ok, she said not really but ok. Management seem picky maybe our faces didnt fit in light of this when visiting we wont be back.

Absolutely amazing meal great for the price, had a excellent cooked steak was delicious mouthwatering I will definitely be going back again to have this for definite and my partner had the pork roast which they adapted for her and that was served amazingly too. The dessert was splendid too we had the chocolate fudge cake was go nice and gooey. The owers and waitress was so nice and welcoming very attentive at all times checking making sure everything was good. Thanks so much for having us cannot wait to come back again.

Traditional greek food in Great Yarmouth. The lamb kleftiko was superb. The restaurant has a traditional feel of a greek restaurant in Cyprus.
