I've been coming here for a few years now. The griller chicken shish is lovely with their signature chilly sauce. And they don't skimp on salad. The chicken sandwich is nice too, large in size. All drool worthy 🤤

First visit food average chicken tasteless and very dry likely in warmer for some time. Place clean staff very plesant

My favourite local kebab , always gold service from the guys in the shop good local atmosphere and really nice home made chicken kebab with great garlic and chilli home made sauces , that little touches defenatly put that place ahead other kebab shops that can't be bothered to make a garlic sauce in the house . I am eating there for many years now and never been disappointed with the kebab :))

Ordered a few different items off the menu, lamb doner, chicken doner, and a mixed wrap, every item was amazing, the meat and sauces were perfect and truly made the night after an unfortunate experience for my friends with a different kebab shop recently, I’ve ordered before in person and I’m very happy to say the in person experience is just as good as the delivery one Would attach photos but all the food got eaten too quick :)

Don’t understand what gluten free is, or basic human interaction for that matter.

I would rate this place a five star normally and till yesterday it was definitely my favourite place for a shaorma. But asking chicken and beeing given lamb, which by the way I never eat, was very disappointing. Dinner ruined and as I live in the opposite side of Southampton, not a chance to bring it back.

The kebabs are getting smaller and smaller but the costs are going up.

Very nice chicken sandwich and the chips were not too bad for the frozen variety. The kofte kebab was good and not too salty this time. The lamb and chicken doner combination was a very good portion and tasted nice .

Staff were pleasant the food was shocking , why ask what sauce I want then not put any on it , the kebab and rice check before you leave 9.50 2 small cubes of lamb and the rest was plain boiled rice the meat was burnt . Might be nice after 15 cans of special brew

Amazing and Friendly staff / owners We had the famous chicken sandwich , this isn't the frozen thing you get elsewhere, this is a whole butterfly chicken breast with their famous coating , finished off with lettuce and Mayonnaise ( they have Garlic Mayo that's made onsite not bought in from a catering supplier) that is also out of this world. Nice seating area that's always clean and during the day food is served on plates with cutlery. Great for food anytime of the day or night.

It's not bad. I would say it's average out of all the donner meat and chips I have tried. Does not deserve a lot of the gushing praise from these other reviews. Chips were a bit too salty, donner meat cuts were thin in comparison to the best I've tried, chicken was lacklustre, not really enough sauce and the chilli sauce taste a bit watered down, a shame they don't give salad with it (though maybe they do upon request). This is liable to change after I try some other menu items.

Nice people here, you can eat in or out. Everything is freshly made.

I'm somewhat of a minor celebrity with chippys in Southampton, it's my worst habit and I go three times a week. But I'd argue that Charcoal Grill goes beyond my greatest expectations everytime. 1) The only chip shop that consistently heats your cheesy chips so they melt. 2) Generous portions - filling the container everytime. Never too much sauce. 3) On-point chip ratio, never crisp up in the cold and never too soggy. 4) Lovely staff, super friendly. Recognise you if you go even twice.

The food isn't bad for a late night kebab house. However I asked if it was possible to substitute chips on a £8.50 meal deal for something else, they said onion rings. After I agreed I got given a whole portion of onion rings and a drink for £10. If anything I wanted less food! Also I asked for a small amount of chili sauce and my wrap was smothered, making it almost inedible.

So if you want to see for yourself try a small chicken shish kebab with extra chilli sauce (sauce is amazing), extra garlic mayo & extra salad - OMG enjoy 😋

I can’t believe I have lived in Southampton for over 12 years and have not ventured to Portswood, to try the menu of Charcoal Grill before. All I can say is ‘truly amazing!’ I went for the large dinner kebab, which came with a nice salad, and chips. There was so much in portion size, that I needed to save some for the following day, which did not deter, at all, in taste! I will certainly be making a regular visit in future. Awesome job!
