Chamelee Tandori Restaurant in Blaby

Not been here in a long time, ordered today for a Lamb Biryani, Vegetable Thali & Lamb Karahi and we will definitely back! Portion sizes are large (I’ve saved half of mine for tomorrow was so much!) Food tasted incredible, thank you very much! Lovely service too, ordered online and they even gave us a courtesy call to let us know they’d received our order and changed a meal free of charge for us as we couldn’t find the Karahi on the list. Thanks again!

We six friends booked a belated Christmas party earlier this evening and the staff went out of their way to make it a special evening for us, including Christmas music, crackers and Christmas pudding. All in all a great night had by all.

Poor service, diabolical food.... Terrible experience, this place used to be so good. Seems like it only appeals to drunks after plenty of alcohol so that they get away with the terrible food and service!!

Just had a take away and although I've had better it was quite nice.I had chicken tikka masala and the chicken was sliced and not chunks which I found strange but it was still nice, quite a lot of sauce in the container which was a bit peppery for my liking.Rice was as expected as was the nann and poppadoms.

I ordered a lamb curry with pilau and naan for delivery, this arrived and I realised they had provided the incorrect CHICKEN curry. I then called back and they advised they would come and provide the correct curry which I had ordered, now rest of my food is then going cold as I waited for the correct order. They then provide the lamb curry and I now sit down to enjoy my meal...20 mins later IN THE MIDDLE OF MY MEAL the door knocks AGAIN and they request the chicken curry back - disrupting my meal, which they are likely sell to another customer.Ruined my night.

As Indian restaurants come this is not the most authentic I have dined in, but the politeness and friendly staff changed my rating from average to good. The food is OK and you have the standard fayre to choose from. After some quite sizeable but a tad dry bhaji’s to start I opted for a Chicken Pathia. A hot and sour chicken dish prepared with garlic, onion, red chilli, black pepper with tomato puree. Accompanied by a naan bread it was good and definitely filled a gap and satisfied my hunger. If you are looking for speedy friendly service of Indian food in Blaby then this is the place to go.

Wasn't very impressed to be honest. The decoration and location of the restaurant are great, but the food was quite poor. The rice was so greasy/oily and the main dishes were which I would consider should be medium in spice, both main dishes lacked any spice - wasnt very impressed. The service was ok, just a shame on the food.

We have had a couple of takeaways from here and the food is delicious and plentiful. Well definitely be eating here again and would recommend,

We go to Chamelee with my godparents every birthday. The food is outstanding and the staff are just lovely. Always polite and look after us all. The kids as well as us adults always look forward to our next trip!

We continue to go to this restaurant at least twice a month and sometimes have a take away. The food served is always superb and that is why we have been customers since 1994. We have three god children who love going here as well and having a meal as a birthday treat. No matter what we have from the menu we are confident it will be good especially the chef's specials. Well priced and very pleasant staff completes the dining experience and always enjoyable.

We bought a discount card for this restaurant and they refused to honour all the offers on the flyer including free delivery within 3 miles. The manager told me he could not afford to give more than one offer even though we had it in writing. He then said he had not agreed to the discount card and the company had sold them without his permission yet he was still agreeing to some of the offers!! If he had not authorised his restaurant to be included in this offer then surely he would be taking legal action against the company and taking down the details of all his customers that had bought these cards as this is reflecting very badly on his restaurant and lack of care for his customers

Outstanding service and friendly staff, the food is 5 star standard and the hygiene is immaculate. I loved the experience and trying new foods. I will definitely Recommend this to others and will share my experience here in this restaurant. I will definitely consider coming again.

Ordered a takeaway 04/01/ 2018 from Chamelee and had king prawn tikka masla curry and the prawn come with there shells on them, I will not be ordering from this establishment again and I suggest you stay away as well.

We had a takaway which was very poor. The food arrived in a Chinese box and had a lingering Chinesey smell and taste. None of it was nice and no-one wanted second helpings. We had dried red bagees, veg curry, burnt food, over hot food which was slices of chicken rather than chunks. Sauces for popadums were awful. Will not be ordering again.

Chicken tikka was nice with huge chunks of chicken although the sauce was a bit thin for my liking. The rest of the food was nice but wasn't very hot when it arrived I had to reheat it In the microwave.

really disappointed first time we used them, nam bread was burnt and curries were tasteless. won't be using them again!

The food was delicious! Piping hot and plenty of it. The staff were great as they called to confirm the order and give us a delivery time. Fully recommend the set meal for two!

We have used chamelee for the last nine years we have our Christmas dinner there every year and eat in on birthdays and a takeaway every Friday night I can honestly say we have never had a bad meal from there and am so impressed with their quality of food also staff from delivery driver to management are second to none nothing is too much trouble

Well there is just a word for this place & that's fantastic the food was out standing the service was excellent & the restaurant was clean & smart.

Ordered chicken .masala it tasted like someone had emptied a bag of sugar over the meal it couldn't be eaten so ended up in the binding

Have to say me and my partner have been to so many Indian restaurants so thought we would try this one. Honestly! Awful food, stale poppadoms and no tasty spice to the food, very disappointed and think the chefs are still on a learning curve. Bill was wrong but rectified as charged too much! But not about that, food not good at all, chewy prawns was unbelievable. Advise....... Please avoid and try elsewhere

Waited 1 hour and 15 minutes for my order then when it arrived it was stone cold, the chicken in my curry was hard & had veins in. I rang for a refund and they would not compromise with me. First time I have ordered & never again will I order from this horrible place again. AVOID. worse curry takeaway I've ever had. !!!!

I ordered a tikka masala, it didn't taste right in comparison to the takeaways. It was very deep red in colour and really tomatoey bit your standard tikka masala. Won't be ordering again.

Largish group, twenty plus of us, turned up a little late.........still warmly welcomed. Food served promptly by cheery staff. Ate in upstairs room. Had a good time! Reasonably priced too. Would go again. ..............

We visited for a group meal on Sunday, as we really enjoy your takeaways and fancied a change as we have alway highly reccomeded yourselves. Upon arrival we were greeted warmly and seated upstairs which wasn't a problem as we had our own privacy. However I had to keep my coat on throughout the meal due to a draft coming from the window. When we ordered our drinks my boyfriend requested a jug of water for the table and 4 glasses- however what we received was a pint glass and no glasses. I believe this was just a misunderstanding. Our food came out fast however mine was dull and dry. Everyone else seemed to enjoy theirs though. Half way through our meal our waiter came and cleared the table whilst two of us were still eating. From a waitresses point of view this is very rude and off putting making you feel very rushed and unwanted. He then came back 5 minutes later to clear the rest whilst my boyfriend was still eating and had to take his nann off the plate so the waiter could clear his side plate. The music then got turned off making us feel more rushed and unwanted. As it was New years day you could fully understand people wanting to go home early- but we weren't notified of early closing otherwise we would have gone somewhere else or got a takeaway. We came to pay and noticed the two for one deal Sunday to Thursday hadn't been taken off when we queried it the response was "well you didn't ask so we didn't give it to you" Unfortunately this completely put me off ever returning to your restaurant.

We visited for a meal, as we normally just order a takeaway and fancied a change and ate in. We had a lovely welcome and was seated upstairs which wasn't a problem. We ordered our drinks and asked for a jug of water and four glasses to accompany our other drinks, they came back with a pint glass of water and no glasses. We then ordered our meals and everything was fine. Food came still everything was fine. Our meal was beautiful!! Half way through our waiter came and cleared the table while two of use were still eating and then came back again 5 minutes later while one of us was still eating and proceeded to clear the table, we found this highly rude of them! We came to pay and as we seen on the way in it was 2 for 1 Sunday-Thursday (we don't go out just for offeres). We looked at our bill and the 2 for 1 offer hadn't been put in place, so we asked our waiter who said well you didn't ask so we didn't give it you!! We didn't ask?? It's what your advertising, you should automatically put that in place when sorting out the bill!! Wasn't happy!! As we sat talking we then noticed they had turned the music off. Already feeling rushed we didn't feel welcome at all!! We understand it is New Year's Day and everyone likes an early night, but we should have been informed about this early closure on our arrival. We have mixed reviews on wether we will be returning!

Wrong order delivered, waited for an hour for the first order then when it arrived wrong had to wait 40 minutes for the correct one to be offered no discount.

First time ordering; food was delivered 20 minutes after the initial delivery time but they added 15 to the initial time after a while. Food was slightly cooler than I would've liked but it was all very good, would definitely order again.

Very good tasty food, 20 mins delivery. Will use Chamelee again without a doubt.

Love this restaurant! Amazing food and service every single time I order from them. Recently moved to Countesthorpe and now I don't order from anywhere else. My weekly treat and they never let me down!

A fantastic meal last visit. As usual it was no problem for the chef to put together dishes not normally on the menu list. Prawn Tiwali, Tandoori Fish Khari, Peas Bhaji or whatever you can reasonably desire. After yet another trip abroad we cannot thing of a better place to go when we return to the UK !!.

Good food and nice place but last time we went the floor could of been swept better. The toilets are up tight winding stairs so don't get to drunk. Overall 7/10

Well where do you start this is usually top quality service and food not tonight its not seem to have 75% different staff and what a differance it made its lost that service with a smile - 4 times i had to ask for a glass of water - the standard of the meal was bad my salmon main course was at best luke warm with the boiled rice stone cold - the waiter did not even know what the meals were when he brought them out and spent 3 mins at table stirring the meals and looking at the order placed list to decied what was what I will return in the hope the staff were on holiday and see what its like - not happy at all is understatement

We are here after having a takeaway and the difference in the food was noticed, I asked the waiter and he said they have different chefs

Food was lovely but when I order a £10 bottle of south eastern Australian Chardonnay I do not expect to receive a cheap bottle of Italian Pinot Grigio. Not impressed by that at all.

Was 20mins late as the driver got lost and no apology was given. Food was cold. Both the saag and bhuna were quite bland. The large pieces of tikka chicken were very dry and the roti may as well have been a poppadom! Will not be ordering from them again!

Very watery chicken tikka masala

I'm not really sure what the meat was in my 'tandoori chicken masala' but it wasn't chicken. It had bones in and it was chewy and disgusting infact I couldn't eat it. What a shame as the food was on time, hot and the correct order !! I'm so fragile about meat as it is and I can't even think about eating that food again :(

I have been here a few times night, both with friends and with family an to be honest, its not bad in fact it offers everything you would expect from a Indian restaurant, so I would recommend here for a evening meal out, albeit on the way back from the pub or for general dining.The food is nice, portions are standard to what you would get anywhere else and the prices are competitive in comparison to other Indian restaurants around.The service overall is generally good, the staff are friendly, an you don't find yourself waiting that long for the food to be served.There is not much space to dine inside though there is a upstairs area, however, I personally have never eaten upstairs, so I cannot confirm whether or not they open that up. I am guessing that they do if they are over run with customers.This restaurant does also cater for children.

We have lived locally for nearly 10 years and until 6 months ago really rated the restaurant. We have been let down since New Year's Eve every time we have ordered. New Year's Eve-ordered at 6pm for an 8pm delivery. It arrived cold at 9.30pm. We have had three takeaways since then, 1st one was cold, a month later the chicken was raw and on our final order the naan bread was missing and we now all have bad tummys!. I do not not know why this has happened, they appear too busy and cannot cope. That is a good thing for business but bad for the customer. We will never order from them again, I advise you use an alternative local instead of Chamlee.

Curry not as good as before, not much flavour

Ordered a chicken korma amongst other things for my partner, had no flavour and was literally cream and chicken. Not very nice, went into the bin. Very disappointing.

We went on a Saturday night, it was late on so not too busy. We had a couple of dishes a pathia and a butter chicken with rice and nan. The dishes came fairly quickly and they were ok, not a lot of chicken and the sauce was a bit bland. It's not the cheapest Indian and you don't get a lot for your money. I'm a massive fan of Blaby Balti next door and there's no comparison, shame it's only a takeaway.Service was ok but you would expect nothing less.

This is the second visit for me and my husband, but our friends had been several times as the food and service was so good.Both visits was a pleasurable as each other. The restaurant was clean and well layed out. We both times sat upstairs which was lovely, very quiet allowing ease of talk/catching up with our dear friends. I had the same meal both times as it was soo nice. Chicken saag to die for. Portion sizes are good. Staff are so friendly and attentive, nothing is too much trouble for them.The meal was good value for money costing 4 of us £62 for 4 main dishes, 3rices, 2 naan breads and 8 popadoms. 1 beer and 6 soft drinks.Highly recommend.

Food was really nice, only thing I would say is give more mango chutney with your poppadoms especially when I pay for it. Only half full. Ordered extra poppadoms and had to throw away as not enough sauce provided.

delivery was half hour late and already waited an hour anyway! They told me the delivery driver put my address in sat nav and said I was 12.5 miles away even tho I was only 7.5 miles away and I ordered 2 nan breads and only got 1! Food wasn't the best either. Will not b ordering from there again👎

Situated In the village of Blaby this restaurant is well worth the travel the food is fantastic and the staff are great. The lamb pasandra is out of this world the best lamb pasandra ive ever tasted.

Lovely food only slight mark down on delivery as said to be delivered by 19:05 and came at roughly 19:20. Other than that really nice, will use again

My friends and I go out for a curry on a regular basis and this is our favourite. We love the food, the staff and everything about it. It is not huge but that's a bonus for us. The staff go out of their way to make you feel more like a friend rather than a client. I even take their curry to my french home and my french neighbours absolutely love it.

There are two Indian restaurants in Blaby and, in our view, in terms of quality, this is the lesser of the two. However, this is a typical curry house of the old school with a decent range of traditional choices. Can feel a bit cramped as the floor area is not the greatest, but this is tempered by a pleasant atmosphere and pleasing ambience. No on site parking but there is a public car park about 100 metres away. Go in the evening and this is free. When we went the service was rather slow but it was a very busy night. Overall, decent enough value for money.

We tried the Chamalee with our 3 daughters and were able to get in on a quiet Friday night. We had a table upstairs but it was freezing cold!! We kept our coats on but the restaurant supplied additional heaters which helped a bit.The service though was terrific as was the food. We all had something different and everybody loved the food.A really good meal although a little expensive compared to other Indians, we don't mind though because the quality is excellent.

It's been years since I have been to this restaurant, I have to say my recent visit was ok, but nothing more.There was food, it was spicy.There was a table and chairs and clean crockery.Nothing special, very bogstandard.
