When I got stuck into my meal which I chose as the chorizo tempted me , I couldn’t find where the chorizo was so I called the waitress and politely said I think the chorizo has been left out. She went to the kitchen and then informed me it was in the pancake - I pulled the pancake apart with her standing there so she could clearly see there was no chorizo. She went back to the kitchen and came back with - assurance there was chorizo in there even though I just proved there wasn’t any. When asked at the end was everything ok I just said don’t describe your pancakes with chorizo as they didn’t have any - why ask a customer if everything was ok if they aren’t prepared to make it right? Surely if the waitress had come back with a small bowl of chopped chorizo I wouldn’t be writing this disappointing review

If I'm in a strange town and looking for somewhere to eat I'll always opt for the venue that offers/promotes vegan options. I'm not vegan, just veggie but I like to support businesses that make an effort and so it was that when I saw the menu boards outside Cafe Cahmbers I knew where I'd be having lunch. If you like pancakes you're in for a treat here. I'm not usually a fan but the fluffy American-style offering here could lead to a change. I opted for "The Big Vegan Tower". When it arrived I simply thought the only sausages were the ones on top of the stack but I was wrong; each layer included sausages. These along with the bacon-infused batter used for the pancakes made for a fantastic savoury option. The slow service was the only thing stopping me from giving a five-star review. It took a while for our order to be taken.

I'm gluten intolerant and was able to enjoy some lovely pancakes here- plenty of pancakes on the menu could be made gf which was great! Coffee was nice too and staff were friendly.

Beautiful place and great location however I can’t say the same about the owner! All I could hear was her screaming from the kitchen, feel awful for all the workers. Avoid going!!!

Worst breakfast ever ! , me and my partner came in for a nice breakfast it was appalling, I had a bacon and sausage sandwich, the bacon was dreadful dripping with grease and the sausages were somehow as well clearly made in the same pan , me and my partner feel disgustingly sick , portion size was good but the food was disgusting, staff hanging around us made us feel uncomfortable enough I didnd even want to eat it , was ashamed to pay at the end it was disgusting , will never come back

Walking through town looking for somewhere to eat the menu grabbed me as it was offering something different for Canterbury, and I was so glad I gave this place a try as the food was absolutely delicious! It was my first time eating here, but it certainly won't be my last.

We popped into here mid morning whilst visiting Canterbury. As a big fan of American food I held out high hopes and wasn't disappointed. The pancakes were as good as I've eaten in America with bacon, cheese and eggs & our daughter just had some hash browns. The portions were excellent and great value for money. The decor was also to our taste with a real 1970s diner vibe. Anywhere with Franks hot sauce on the counter is good with me!!

The best French Toast outside New York. Everything we ordered was perfect. Ingredients, cooking, service and atmosphere. We will remember Chambers for a long time.

Best pancakes I've ever eaten. Me and my friends all had them. Smores, banana and Nutella , gingerbread mocha. So much choice, great value

The biggest selection of breakfast I've ever known. Everything was super sized portions I'm fantastic quality there was so much choice I had to it so hash browns my husband had big American breakfast. I'll definitely be going back again soon for the pancakes

Was taken here by our son and daughter-in-law for belated Christmas treat and my mothers my mothers day treat and will definitely be going back

Walked past this place a day or so before we went in, and thought we'd come in for lunch, ended up in there about 11.30 and there was no waiting for 5 of us. I chose the chorizo hash brown pancakes and the dish was one of the best things I've eaten for a LONG time. Had a flat white which was also one of the better cups of coffee i'd had for a while. My son had the peanut butter and banana smoothie which was also surprisingly good. We all came out having enjoyed our food. I went in expecting to be disappointed by something, but it was completely the opposite, it was a good choice to go in. I really liked the vibe of the place, the staff were all dressed for halloween which was "interesting", if a little surprising when walking in! The only thing I'd say is I would have liked to have bought one of your cups!!

WOW WOW WOW The best kept secret of Canterbury. Words cannot describe the taste of the blueberry pancakes with maple syrup and cream. I have travelled the world and I can say they are the best in the world. Everyone must visit this place at least 100 times in their lifetime.

The Best American pancakes outside of the USA (in my opinion)! These pancakes were so light and fluffy and they were absolutely delicious. This was a return visit and we weren't disappointed. Hubby had the grilled cheese sandwich and he thought it was delicious too. Will definitely be back! :) The food looked so good we forgot to take photos - sorry!

Was a regular until recently. Had a bad experience with friends when staff forgot a drinks order. Usually sit outside but it was a bit windy so decided to sit inside. Headed upstairs and was expecting friends so adjusted a table to accommodate but was told we couldn’t do that as the manager doesn’t like it. Not a valid reason. The other and only table for 4 was in direct blinding sunlight. The food is nice but the staff and service has been poor since we started going there.

Was only there for a drink yesterday but the Staff were lovely, very accommodating and welcoming.

I had the American breakfast the sausages were lovely and Herby. Wasn't too sure on the egg or hash browns with it. Was skeptical as I'm a little particular about my pancakes. These were lovely and fluffy. The bacon was cooked well too. Nothing floppy. My partner had the chorizo hash brown breakfast that came with cheesy chorizo pancakes. He really loved them. I used some of his spicy sauce on my eggs and the sauce just lifted them. My partner had a milkshake which he enjoyed and I had a chai tea latte. My chai had a good flavour but was very sweet. Do think we sensed a little ghosty activity which was interesting. But overall staff were polite enough and it was nice to try something different other than your general pub or tea room!

Had breakfast here and really enjoyed the food although the pancakes were a little bit heavy and half the number with the vegetarian breakfast would be enough. The place itself could do with a deep clean especially the stair handrail!🥱 it’s basic but the staff are friendly and the service is good.

We were recommended to the cafe and my children were excited about their indulgent breakfast. First impressions were not great as we were ignored when we first entered. I appreciate people are busy but a simple acknowledgment goes along way. The milkshake and smoothie were really nice but my daughters (kids meal) mango juice was warm and tasteless. Why not make a bit of effort with the kids offering as she was the driving force behind us trying this place? The food came and it was ok, lots of stodge but not much taste. Again, my daughters Nutella pancakes only had Nutella on the top one so she had very dry pancakes underneath, which she left. It’s ok as a one off but we probably won’t be back.

Quirky establishment promoting american style pancakes with a variety of toppings. I had the beef chilli & maple syrup, it was gorgeous. My wife went down the sweet road, banoffee with ice cream. Both of us came out full. The Blueberry Ice alcoholic smoothie was lovely. Worth a visit if you're looking for something a little bit different.

Had the big American breakfast and Americana breakfast both with a coffee. Food was fantastic. Pancakes were probably the best I’ve had in the UK. Sausages were decent too. Coffee was good. Great value, I think the menu was really reasonably priced. Service was excellent, atmosphere was really relaxing but still vibrant enough to feel like you were somewhere warm and welcoming. Great decor too. Will certainly return. Suggest you do too!

I visited the other day with my daughter after hearing great things. My daughter had a mango smoothie with peanut butter and chocolate pancakes. I had the Big Veggie Breakfast and it was amazing! As a building, there is a lot of history, which is great to read on the walls. The décor is orange, but it's cool and retro and if you want pancake s you will be made up. Gotta say the coffee is great too. Friendly staff, free WiFi, decent veggie stuff too.

Nice little place, food was good but service was so chaotic. I had finished eating before my son got his burger. The customer at the next table had to ask 3 times for items missing from his order. When I went to pay, the staff didn't seem to know which order was for which table, so I'm not sure if I paid my bill or somebody else's. The staff are friendly but some training is needed.

Called in this afternoon and had possibly the best burger I have ever had! I know that’s a big statement but it’s honest. The service was really good, very pleasant staff. Really could not fault the experience, thanks guys.

We were charged full price even though Chambers state they are on the government scheme. Also - no track and trace. What’s going on? Food was nice though.

What can I say, we came as customers and left as friends. Amil was the gentleman that served us and so well, a happy and bubbly guy whom gave everyone the perfect amount attention and service! And the food was delicious 5*we'll be back!

Terrible place, I would say the worst in Canterbury. Microwaved food, bland and uneatable. If you respect yourself don't go there.

El ambiente y la decoración eran cursis y cómodos, pero aparte de eso, no hay mucho en este lugar. La comida no solo parecía que había sido sobrante durante más de una semana, sino que se podía notar que no estaba recién hecha sino que había sido calentada previamente y preenvasada. Pedí un bagel con tocino y huevos revueltos que me sirvieron absolutamente ahogado en un charco de agua, dejando el bagel empapado y los huevos insípidos. Muy decepcionado. No me preguntaron cómo estaba la comida cuando pagué porque sabían cuál sería la respuesta. Estoy lívido, pagué por el privilegio de comer allí.

Really unpleasant experience.Frozen food.We ordered fish and chips and they were clearly frozen, just taken out from the bagand fries too, no flavour and also expensive.Also staff is unprofessional and rude.You can see they don't care about hygiene at all, you just gotta look how they prepare drinks.. imagine the kitchen.Coffee burnt and juice out of a 1 pound brick.Stay away from this place.I don't recommend it to anyone

Mixed feelings! So often we are creatures of habit and I have to admit for more years than I care to admit Cafe Chambers has been my go to place when visiting Canterbury. Especially when the weather is cold they used to have wonderful hot chocolate with something naughty inside. Progressively it seems to have slipped away and I dare say this may have been my last visit, so I’ve started to look into other places.Ironically I suggested to two American friends we go to Cafe Chambers just before Christmas. The menus seem to have shrunk further and there were not that many options available. A lingering smell of chilli was not helping. Only the down stairs area was being used and it seemed perhaps there were just too many tables in there as each time anyone got up you banged into each other, especially with bags, winter coats etc. It took quite a while for our food to arrived and then the bacon which I had asked for to be crispy was not. Hence we had to wait even longer whilst that was corrected. Even just paying the bill took an eternity. The food was ok, but quite mediocre.It’s a shame. I was obviously not expecting anything wow, but simple things done well can be such a treat and it just failed to deliver. I felt somewhat let down having suggested it to friends visiting. I’m sure I could have come up with a more memorable offering. It used to have a real cool and bustling feel to it, but the [lack of] quality of the food and service made it fall off its pedestal for me.

We had an excellent lunch here on Christmas Eve. The lady owner was very charming and the food was great. I don't what other people have experienced. While we were there, 4 people came in and did not wait to be shown to their table. They did not have any menus and eventually got up and left the cafe because they had not had their order taken - it was their own fault because it was clear they should not sit down without being invited to - some people are just so rude, and then complain about how they are treated. They probably posted a terrible review on here, but the cafe is better without their sort. Lovely food, good selection of drink, and very pleasant staff. We will be back.

1 out of 5 is too high for this place. Where to even begin, food was just awful, an unnecessary waste of calories, couldn’t finish my meal as each bite was bringing ever closer to projectile vomiting. Staff, don’t even remember them being there as they were out back somewhere, nowhere to be seen, felt like I was in the film 28 days later. Would I recommend this place. Hell no!!!!!!!!

Yuk! Staff and food are awful! Staff are rude, couldn’t provide a less interested service if they tried. The all day breakfast was only partially cooked - food poisoning was a definite concern.Horrible experience, never to be repeated.Makes you wonder what state the kitchen is in?!

Used to come here most weekends until we had to work weekend shifts :( anyhow the quality and quantity of both service and food seem to have gone down, unfortunately. Breakfast overall was good just getting smaller! but the waitress seemed very unhappy and uninterested in customers with constantly being on her phone eyerolls when the waiter was taking orders and placing them in front of her to make the drinks whilst he was running around and in and out of the kitchen.

I ordered the vegetarian breakfast which was made vegan with the help of the staff who were super helpful and friendly. My girlfriend had the pancakes and we both had a bit of both. The breakfast was ok, nothing stand out or extra ordinary and the pancakes were sub par. They were not as light and fluffy as we hoped for which is a shame as I liked the atmosphere of the place. It's an decent place to go but I wasn't overly impressed

I had the All American breakfast and was a bit disappointed. The pancakes were pappy - not light and fluffy - one would be forgiven for thinking they were reheated or out of a packet. The sausage wasn’t of good quality and was inadequately brown, and the hashbrown was out of a packet, very pale and lukewarm. Nice bacon and scrambled eggs though. It would have been better to serve the maple syrup in a pot on the side rather than already on the pancakes.

The service was slow, although reasonably polite, it was lip-service. It said 'large fresh fish' it was two small fillets of frozen and over-cooked cheap fish in a sort of gloopy breadcrumb coating. The mushy peas were just about a tablespoon full and Luke-warm. As for the soggy chips, thet were so few I could count them. No vinegar on the table made it even worse. It said 'house speciality tea' it was a bag of PG tips in three quarters of a cup of not overly hot water. All this for £9.00 for the fish and chips and £1.80 for the tea each! We will never go back there again. I was so incensed I walked out biting my lip as being typically British, I did not want to make a fuss. This is my first and only review, having never written one before, I just had to say something. AVOID THIS PLACE

Overall, we really enjoyed our pancakes and oreo milkshake and would return if in the area. On arrival we asked to sit in the terrace upstairs but was told this wasn't open which was a shame. Also, I felt uncomfortable about how the lead staff member was talking to one of the girls, she was trying her best and gave us great service, everyone takes time to learn.

Overall, a nice experience. We were waited by Suzie and got a quick and pleasant service. Recommended.

Estábamos buscando un lugar para desayunar el lunes de Pascua. Tenía que servir comida sin gluten y sin lactosa. Vimos este lugar y decidimos probarlo. El camarero era realmente bueno atendiendo a nuestro amigo con alergias y se aseguró de que la comida fuera sin gluten y sin lactosa. Subimos las escaleras y tomamos la mesa junto a la ventana con vistas a la majestuosa catedral de Canterbury. Lástima que los andamios no dejaron que la catedral brillara como siempre. La comida era muy buena y el servicio era genial!

La forma en que la gerente habla con su personal es espantosa. Me quedé sintiéndome muy incómodo. Lo siento mucho por las chicas. Parecían estar trabajando duro y eran muy amables y competentes por lo que vi, ¡ciertamente no servían para hablar así!

El menú se veía genial y bastante imaginativo pero cuando llegó la comida era bastante pobre y sosa.

Visité este café el sábado con mi pareja y mi hijo, fue la peor comida que he comido, comí chili con papas fritas, fue la porción más pequeña que he comido y 10 y para rematar un cuadrado de queso procesado Lo eché encima, todos los ingredientes eran de calidad barata, el hijo de mi compañero tenía papitas con queso y otra vez un cuadrado de queso procesado en la parte superior. También tuve un vaso de jugo de naranja que era cálido y pequeño y tenían la mejilla para cargar 2. 20. NO VISITE ESTE CAFÉ, SERÁ DESAPORTADO

Although I enjoyed my Classic Burger, my three fellow diners were all disappointed with there meals. Hard burgers, uninspiring pancakes, weak tea... It could have been so much better.

Slightly odd atmosphere here & a strange not-quite-a-theme vibe. I wasn’t particularly pleased with the table my daughter & I were offered, when we asked if we could sit upstairs (nice & cosy up there) we were told a big party were up there (found it completely empty half an hour later). However, the coffee was outstanding, my daughters raspberry milkshake was yummy and our pancakes were hot & delicious (although they got my order wrong & did not offer to rectify it). My other bug bear is why don’t all the pancakes come with cream only certain ones?? They are all very sweet & sticky! So a bittersweet review but we’ve visited twice now & enjoyed the pancakes both times

We went into this restaurant while we were in Canterbury and were served by a young lady who was very helpful and seemed well informed on food allergies. She did a great job. The food however was one of the worst meals we have eaten out in years. The so called vegetarian bean chilli was served cold and tasteless. It was like something from the 70s that you add water too and thats it. the chicken burger I had was dry and had no flavour at all. Chefs really need to update there information and stance where Gluten Free and vegetarian food is concerned. We are in 2019 where its an every day thing. This restaurant has NO idea about Vegetarian meals. We will not visit again.

Vine aquí con amigos y ordenó el almuerzo. El servicio es terriblemente lento, aunque solo había otras 4 mesas llenas.

Low quality food, this place serves low quality builders cafe type food, and it's not even cooked properly. It's not cheap either so there isn't really an upside to eating here.
